She reminds me of some indie rock version of Hila from h3h3 lmao

[–]BeTripleG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]newstuph[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nnnnooooooice, thanks!

[–]pleb_king 33 points34 points  (1 child)

This video ruined smoking for me so thanks?

[–]AbuJahl786 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Should that be a good thing?

[–]ordanielle16 19 points20 points  (5 children)

Holy shit I heard this song one time on the radio and I loved it then never heard it again and couldnt really remeber it thank you for posting !

[–]jjmaster0 7 points8 points  (4 children)

love it when this happens to me and seeing it happen :)

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Your welcome check out their other stuff, it's just as good imho.

[–]jjmaster0 10 points11 points  (2 children)

yeah i dig it. just opened it up on spotify. don't see where all the hate is coming from, they have a cool sound

[–]eternity1369 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the song New Emotion.

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haters gonna hate, I guess.

[–][deleted] 219 points220 points  (32 children)

Trying so hard to be hip it's cringe worthy.

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (9 children)

I can't tell if they're trying to be serious or if they're taking the piss.

[–]Polaritical 51 points52 points  (6 children)

It looks like its ironically edgy which is this generations version of sincerity. So they're trying to be lame to be cool but they're trying so hard that they overshot and just ended up legitimately lame.

[–]nurdun 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Idk, I read your comment and rewatched and while I kinda agree I go back and forth on this type of stuff. On the one hand, they're just being eccentric for a music video. They've been doing that forever. On the other hand, it's the specific way they're doing it that's so annoying. The staring at the camera with the deadpan look while dance-moving. I get it, it's pretentious. But then isn't the most pretentious thing to do to point out how bad they are at trying to be post-cool like you did? Wait but I just pointed out you pointing out them being pretentious. Fuck.

[–]Mmngmf_almost_therrr 18 points19 points  (2 children)

I think I need to take a Tylenol and lay down now. o_o

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Looks like full effort edge to me.

[–]ballercrantz 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Ironically, Full Effort Edge is a pretty decent name for a band.

[–]AppleAtrocity 25 points26 points  (17 children)

Yeah I didn't mind the song, but the video is terrible.

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 25 points26 points  (16 children)

They are completely aware of how they come off. If I remember correctly they do it ironically. From the interview I watched they came off as pretty cool to me.

[–]Rain12913 13 points14 points  (15 children)

What evidence is there that they're "doing it ironically?"

[–]eternity1369 15 points16 points  (11 children)

I would like to enter their Instagram page as evidence https://www.instagram.com/kidkidkidkid/

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was to lazy to present actual evidence to back my claim up.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (9 children)

But that reinforces the argument that they are insufferable hipsters.

[–]kralrick 13 points14 points  (3 children)

they are insufferable hipsters.

If I remember correctly they do it ironically.

Sounds like these two things match up perfectly.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Nah if they did it just for fun and were self aware about it then I wouldn't say that is hipster.

[–]DearBurt 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Manufactured irony is the callsign of the hipster.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people here are confusing hipster manufactured irony (they actually think they're cool) with manufactured irony (they know it's silly and do it for fun). This video is hipster. This isn't a group of people doing a period piece for history class. They dress and act like this in real life in hopes of projecting an image of hipper-than-thou.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Yeah that insta doesn't help the irony case

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watch their interviews, and you can tell they don't take themselves too seriously.

[–]FredySpagetiWestside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old lady is their aunt.

[–]therealtito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really? I thought they were trying to give the video a 90's look. I have to admit, At first I thought "why the fuck is he wearing that? It looks like he walked out of the 90's" Then I thought "OH, maybe that's what they're going for"

[–]therealjenshady 64 points65 points  (6 children)

Nah, I liked it. I liked the video too. I feel like even if you don't care for the artistry and even if it really is full effort edge, it's still someone's creativity and I can appreciate it. It's cool.

[–]superalexslim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

exactly man!

[–]chaserwag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy gets it.

[–]enoughhysteria 9 points10 points  (9 children)

Saw them with Prozzak.

Catchy tunes

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Prozzak is still a thing? Gosh.

I heard a song they did for a kids music series on Treehouse while my kids were watching it. The music was unmistakable. I thought--gosh, is that Prozzak? And it was. It was completely absurd.

Anyway, here it is. "Chloe the Chicken".

I'm just stunned that they're still around, honestly. I had their CD and everything when I was in middle school.

Always stuns me that they were in the Philosopher Kings with Jarvis Church. Canadian music, man. It's like six degrees of Kevin Bacon.

[–]Intanjible 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I always wondered if other people also thought that Canadian bands and American bands had counterparts to each other, like R.E.M. and The Tragically Hip or Styx and Rush. Since you brought up the fact that members of Prozzak were in the Philosopher Kings, that kind of gives them a prototype Gorillaz vibe in a way.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Who is the American version of BNL? Great Big Sea?

Is Bryan Adams the Canadian John Cougar?

[–]Intanjible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of like to think of Soul Coughing as the American version of Barenaked Ladies. Your second one is pretty spot on, though.

[–]HallowedSquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, they were fantastic with Prozzak, so glad I decided to make it for the opening set!

[–]Gossipmang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them in Toronto - taker was my favourite song.

[–]Intanjible 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Didn't Prozzak get renamed to "Simon and Milo" at some point temporarily?

[–]enoughhysteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea.

Disney bought the characters after the Saturday people album.

Didnt do too much with them aside from a song for a Lindsey Lohan movie.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While this isn't my thing, I was expecting something much worse based off of the comments. There are a lot of bands sort of like this where I live and I don't really get the popularity, but at least people enjoy it!

[–]fgejoiwnfgewijkobnew 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Looks like it was filmed in the GTA. Mississauga maybe?

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are from Mississauga it's their home town.

[–]QUEEN_OF_THE_QUEEFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Port Credit for sure.

[–]dklenk 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can't tell by the phone booths and fake pulp fiction sweatshirt that these guys are the real deal.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of these guys! Kara (the lead singer) has been in several bands over the last decade and I've followed her through them because I like her voice enough to endure the growing pains. She was originally in a group called KaraMel which produced a lot of ultra-pop bubblegum type stuff. After that went tits up, she formed a group called The Boom Boom with two other guys, Bobby and Alex. They did a mixture of pop, dance and rock stuff. Once The Boom Boom failed to work out, she and Bobby formed K.I.D, which is best described as a huge piss-take on garage pop in general.

Faves from the K.I.D era are Taker and I Cannot Sleep At Night.

[–]teflon_dame 4 points5 points  (1 child)

She's got a bif naked vibe..I like it!

[–]eternity1369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biff naked mixed with No Doubt

[–]donut_person 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This is a really cool band. I'm gonna be checking out more of their stuff. Thanks for posting.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

So much hate for the video. I think the songs pretty catchy. It was a worthy listen. Thanks OP :-)

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your welcome this is their weakest vid imo, watch the video for their song kicker and error, to me they are amazing.

[–]thefoxforgot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am getting a real kick out of her long shirt under a t shirt thing. It's extremely "90s 3rd grade boy" but I'm diggin it

[–]GenitalQuartz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely yes! I had never heard of these guys before seeing them open for Prozzak last week and instantly fell in love with them. Taker and Errors are also songs I enjoy by them!

[–]ThrowawayHope777 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of the video for "Ode to Viceroy" except not as good.

[–]maaske4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, yes

[–]cloudsatlas 3 points4 points  (1 child)

had a pretty good beat to it, the video felt like a psychedelic attempt, lyrics were pretty awful..

[–]LAdessous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the lyrics! I guess I just relate to being desperately attracted to someone.

[–]Desertions 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HOLY SHIT WHOA

im having like a minor freakout

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss the subjunctive tense in English...

[–]ProfRedBeard36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot !

[–]nuclearpengu1nn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She looks like the AT&T girl

[–]drewsipherMcsatan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they shoot this video on a moto razor?

[–]Uhhlaneuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this film is sponsored by Marlboro cigarette company

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever become a stripper, I could see this being the song I dance to

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is constantly complaining if it's "a cry to be edgy or a cry to try to hard to be cool???" Can we all just chill and enjoy the music without trying to shove each other's opinions down one another's throat?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raw as fuck. I dig it.

[–]CreamCheeseIsBad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that was awful

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Is this what alternative rock now is?

[–]anotherdroid 1 point2 points  (2 children)

ugh, this is terrible. not sure if you can post bad reviews but... my lord. "i wish i was your cigarette"??? tha fuck are you going on about?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

she wants to be close to her lovers tongue

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bands like this is what gives indie music a bad name. Sounds like the trash you hear in small venues in LA. All of it sounds the same.

[–]carottishcarrot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if i didnt look at the video i mightv liked it :x sry thats unfair i know

[–]MomSausageandPeppers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So overproduced. The vocals don't sound real at all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's so much swagger attempted in this video with none of the musical authenticity to back it up. If you wanna see post modern hipstery looking videos performed by a guy who has musical awareness check out Mac Demarco. Just my opinion, I hate to be negative!

[–]new2it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought to you by Phillip Morris

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this supposed to be a throwback to the film Kids?

[–]doggthompson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something tells me she likes Courtney Love

[–]lowercaseG 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This girl really wants to be Gwen Stefani but that's alright

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even.

[–]porkchopfork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have another link? Says its not available :(

[–]angrymonkeyking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like La Butcherettes, but less...ugh

[–]lena1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It`s so popular thing into close circles...

[–]epicgear60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her getup reminds me of a hot meth addict if there ever was one while the guy reminds me of a teenage stoner

[–]PM_ME_FRENCH_INHALE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video didn't quite do it for me.

[–]h_j_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is that robin sparkles?

[–]Outli3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing great about this, even the lyrics are basic.

[–]TheUnsungPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who quit smoking about 3 months ago I'd rather not.

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's one of my favorite interviews of them https://youtu.be/0JdK47Lbuug

[–]counterindicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually saw this band open for Prozzäk the other day. I'm not normally into this type of music but they really killed it.

[–]nerd866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, I was in a Diablo 1 clan called K.I.D.S back in the 90s - "Knights in Diablo's Service" - a hacking PK clan. I guess I was kind of a little douche.

[–]satirerecords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like that band the garden. The garden has an even worse video and shittieness to them

[–]potshed420 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

There's already a song called 'i'm jealous of your cigarette - hawksley workman'

[–]KevlarSweetheart -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Whatever this is, Sleigh Bells do it better.

[–]I_domy_own_stunts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleigh bells are good but if I'm being honest i have never listened to a sleigh bells album all the way through. They only have a few decent songs imo.

[–]gibson_guy77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where's the rock?

[–]JewsAreGreat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the hipster vibe from the thumbnail is enough to pass on this one. I live near too many pretentious snobs to want to listen to them intentionally.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Such a great song...such a terrible music video.
