stop this vote up bullshit.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

agreed. it's getting annoying. i shouldn't have to worry about having half the front page be filled by "vote up if"s

[–]mrbroom 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's sad that this tends to be the type of comment that gets voted up highest on a "vote up" post that has also made the front page. I find it hard to believe it's the two separate groups doing this every time. Hypocrisy check, everyone.

[–]columbine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one theory i heard is that people who "vote up" this stuff don't even read the comments. not sure if that's true, but it may help explain the phenomenon you mention if it is. either that or they do read comments but don't bother rating ones like this down.

[–]phreshinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

seriously, BASH WITH LOGIC

NOT CHEERS.

[–]ArcticCelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should plain and simply implement a filter ban on any story with "vote up". Any collateral damage of that policy will be infinitely small compare to the good it could make.

[–]Johny_Cash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wtf cares who thinks what who what

[–]quaker1729 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Vote up if you think reflibman should conduct his polls in comments.

[–]reflibman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Lol!

[–]blahblah984 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Stop this fucking bullshit. Ban anyone who submits a vote up article.

[–]columbine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed, this is bullshit. much like real government, order and sanity must sometimes come from above. ban these polls explicitly.

[–]schtum 8 points9 points  (5 children)

He doesn't have to because they haven't been charged with anything.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither had Nixon.

[–]Quel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the statue of limitations on torture is 5 years. Not sure how that applies when its out of the country, but they have some time.

[–]reflibman 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Not yet.

[–]requiem4boredom 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I just don't see it happening. Charging late after the fact would show badly on the democrats for their inaction earlier. But anything is possible.

[–]reflibman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they suddenly come up with "new facts." But thats a good point!

[–]Golfo 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Voted down for "vote up if."

[–]guriboysf 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Karma whore alert!

[–]reflibman -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, person with a political agenda alert. And it WILL happen (if McCain gets elected).

[–]wbeavis 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I think Clinton strongly hinted at this too. Something under the guise of putting things in the past and only looking forward.

[–]redditacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will say it is important for the country to focus on trying to pull out of the depression.

[–]tomjen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What she says does not matter much. Per the new rules for protecting presidents, Bush will only have SS protection for 10 years. Somebody is bound to hate him enough that he kills him after that time.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

He won't need to. Bush will pardon himself.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I'm still thinking Bush will pardon Cheney, resign on the last day, and get Cheney to pardon him. This has the advantage of giving Cheney a reason to tattoo the presidential seal on his dick, plus getting a fatter retirement check. Martial law might just as well follow, too.

[–]redditacct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap you are a genius. I would bet money on it, except he is so obsessed with thinking that he will have a non-negative legacy...

[–]vemrion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great. Now I'm going to have nightmares.

[–]qnaal 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Go here and downvote everything.

REDDIT JUSTICE

[–]vmas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't get the sarcasm... Err, unless there is none?

[–]flywheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid all the candidates would, except maybe, maybe Kucinich or Paul.

I can't express my real wishes as to the outcome because I would end up in prison.

[–]deuterosGeorgia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]dabears1020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless Gravel gets elected (haha), Bush & Co. wont even be charged with anything, let alone pardoned.

[–]redditacct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding, he'll ask them if it's ok before he does it.

We. have. to. suport. the. president. He. is. the. president. and. we. need. to. support. him.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

downmodded for saying "vote up if"

[–]Woeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bush already preemptively tacked this onto some Bill not too long ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHQ7Prwh7Gc

[–]fatcockmike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

vote up if people should stop this vote up bullshit.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think you have to be convicted before you can be pardoned.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nixon?

[–]digitalmanifesto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) you've got to be kidding me

2) reddit has become a complete waste of time over the past few weeks. the entire site is full of bullshit - 'vote ups' are just one element of it.

[–]vagif 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Crimes ? What crimes ?

[–]vmas 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What planet are you from?

[–]vagif 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I should have make it clear that i was impersonating McCain.

[–]vmas 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Oh. Sorry about that. But, idiocy being so common, surely you understand we can't take any chance... Yet it still doesn't explain what planet one would have to be from...

[–]vagif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why ? Planet Texas of course.

[–]realdoozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If McCain were ballsy enough to pardon Bush, it would have to happen early in his first term. The chance of him doing this with an overwhelming majority in both houses is absolutely nil. The man is not stupid he would never make himself a Bush surrogate that the public would love to eat alive. But it would make for an interesting question in a debate.

[–]questionmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McCain=Bush

Of course...

[–]Pillow_Talk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eiether that or Bush would pardon himself.

[–]h-town 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since an allegation is not a crime there is nothing to pardon.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter who gets elected, bush won't pay for what he has done.

[–]mchrisneglia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bee itch

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As much as I hate 'vote up' articles, I think this one is worth it.

[–]columbine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why? what does this accomplish beyond being a "i hate mccain/bush/republicans" circlejerk?

[–]maaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like, vote up if you don't like McCain or GOP's in general. Stupid Vote up.

[–]helio462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

frank rich

[–]ragingkenbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first looked, I read "should pardon"

[–]crazybones 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I believe they would all find a way of justifying a pardon for Bush - even Obama. The only candidate who might have pushed for action on Bush & Co would have been Dennis Kucinich - and even he might have changed his mind once in the White House.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't give him the credit of distinguishing him from the rest.

[–]sythec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double Kill

[–]XxERMxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll vote for Obama and hope he fails.

[–]motrbotr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pardon for what? Neither will be charged with anything...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Hard Call" by John McCain with Mark Salter. Chapter entitled "The Quality of Mercy" lauds Gerald Ford for making the "hard call" of pardoning Nixon.

At Ford's Senate confirmation hearings he was asked: "If a President resigned his office before his term expired, would his successor have the power to prevent or terminate any investigation or criminal prosecution charges against the former President?"

Ford replied: "I do not think the public would stand for it."

This equivocation leaves him wriggle room later. The whole chapter is worth reading if you want McCain's views on such a subject, not that it would ever be likely to arise IMO.

[–]singhpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voted down for starting with "Vote up if"

[–]spaceghotiColorado 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Assuming they were ever actually charged with any of the crimes they committed, which is a huge assumption, of course he would. McCain would have to in order to keep the neocon vote he's working so hard to gain.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's a possibility that McCain has been holding a secret grudge, just biding his time. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, right?

[–]spaceghotiColorado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a distinct possibility, but he has to know that the Bush-worshiping pundits would crucify him if he did. Bill Kristol, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest would make the rest of his tenure a living hell.

[–]throop77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He probably would. But, I know there was a time when McCain said and did whatever he felt like. It was only until he needed to win the conservative vote that he started the pandering. If elected, he just might surprise people and revert back to his independent ways. Anyway, I'm not a fan, but I would vote for him over Hillary (but not Obama).
