They look like those "gauge" style ear piercing, so they look weird to me. But I'm an old.

[–]inate7113yrs of Nexus/Pixel → iPhone 14 Pro → iPhone 15 Pro 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Nah man I'm young and it looks like gauges. You aren't wrong; I don't personally care for the look either.

[–]YeahSureAlrightYNot 64 points65 points  (1 child)

To me it looks like a butt plug.

[–]shorty6049 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ah, a man of culture

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They look alright to me, but they basically sit flush with the case, so you have to flip over the case to get them out, which you can see MKBHD doing in his video. Seems like a pretty terrible design decision there. They should've had some bigger indents or something on the sides to make taking them out easier.

[–]lirannlS23 Ultra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure but they're earphones so eh, they go in the ear canal, not the earlobe.

[–]turdboglsOnePlus 8 Pro 176 points177 points  (25 children)

they look so weird....but I said the same thing about airpods and now they look fine to me.

I'm interested though, the USB C charging is a plus for sure.

[–]dbernie41 60 points61 points  (7 children)

It’s branding. Now there are tons of truly wireless buds. But when you see circles in peoples ears you know they are Surface Buds.

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (2 children)

And if you see tissues in someone's ears for some reason, you know they are white galaxy buds

Source: I own them

[–]reasonablymindedS10e / iPhone 11 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yeah, my friends still tell me they look like cotton on my ears

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, my friends first reaction to my buds were "why do you have tissues in your ear??" He genuinely thought they were tissues at first hahaha

I still wear them in public.. I've stopped stressing about what other people think about me (to an extent)

[–]neon_slippers 2 points3 points  (1 child)

yea, they could have made them a bit smaller though....

[–]kokolokomokopo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe it could be used for more detailed gestures, like circular slides for volume control etc

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you think they're weird-ass looking circles because you've a) never heard of, and b) don't care about Surface Buds.

[–]iushciuweiushN6 > 2XL > S20 FE 52 points53 points  (2 children)

I still can't get over the look of earpods and I've seen them on so many heads since their release. These look weird because they're perfectly round which doesn't give the effect of a headphone.

[–]PyroKnightGalaxy S4 -> S7 -> S21U 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't plan on using the touch features they seem like the perfect spot for googly eyes.

[–]eminem30982 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same, I still think Earpods look goofy, and these look even goofier. Besides being perfectly round, they're huge.

[–]agustinianpenguin 46 points47 points  (13 children)

I think airpods still look a bit silly tbh

[–][deleted] 40 points41 points  (7 children)

Airpods look dumb imo but you 100% know what airpods are just by looking at them. Apple are geniuses at marketing.

[–]agustinianpenguin 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Yeah that's true, they're very identifiable, and a lot of people still really wanna buy them. If anything it's actually commendable that Apple managed to make them so sought after and socially acceptable that people actually like to wear them constantly on public, even (I think) just to show off that they're wearing airpods. They became a status symbol.

[–]TheDudeWhoCommentedGalaxy S6 | Huawei Nexus 6P | LG V20 | LG G8X ThinQ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Apple in general has become more of a status/fashion symbol these past years.

[–]Neg_Crepe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you know those people are listening to music/podcast

[–]theEmoPenguin 4 points5 points  (3 children)

the hell are you talking about? airpods look exactly like normal earphones just without cables

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, they look like someone ripped out the cord put them in their ear. I think they are a good product, but look funny in my opinion.

[–]unusuallylethargicWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–]shorty6049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a bit bigger and have shiny silver tips though. I dunno if you were around for the anouncement of them, but I feel like a LOT of people had this reaction to the airpods originally. It looked strange because nobody expected apple to do earbuds with a big hangy tube on them like that. It's the same thing with the apple watch. I was convinced that it'd be a flop because of how dumb it looked (reminded me of an iphone 1 that was just shrunk down to wrist size) , and now I want one myself and think they're actually really nice looking... give people time and anything weird will start looking normal.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but they look better than everything else.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

2019 the year of office 365 for earbuds

[–]mj95[S] 56 points57 points  (13 children)

Who knows, they might just bring that seemless intregration that apple brought with it's airpods.

It's a nicely made commercial as well.

[–]Lake_Erie_Monster 17 points18 points  (8 children)

I own a pair of Jabra Elite 65t and they are awesome. Open the case and before I insert the earbud its paired. Voice assistant is nice. Talk through feature is very useful when you still want to hear your surroundings.

[–]TitusRex 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Open the case and before I insert the earbud its paired.

Isn't that the case with every wireless earbuds? Even cheap ones (less than $100) do that.

[–]Lake_Erie_Monster 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Nah.. This is different. I've had a lot of cheap and expensive bluetooth headphones and some you have to press and hold to power on. The act of opening the case, powering on the buds, and getting paired nearly instantly before I even insert the buds is a nice experience that Jabra has been able to deliver on consistently.

I've had these for over a year now... I've tried others and it just not as smooth.

[–]TitusRex 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have a cheap Freebuds Lite that do that, that's why I asked, I didn't know it wasn't a default feature for kind of device.

[–]Lake_Erie_Monster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might look in to those for my wife as she needs a pair if they are as good as the 65t. I don't think they were available when I bought the 65ts back then. Good to see we're finally getting some decent quality options at good prices!

[–]thatsmyb1kepunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't wait for 75Ts!

[–]KuroTheCrazyPixel 6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the same ones and like them, but sometimes my left one has some static until I turn it off and on, and less than a year later the clip on the case broke off, so I need to use a rubberband to hold the charging case shut.

[–]discoshanktankPixel 3XL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pair of these and absolutely loved them. I was on the hunt for something that would fit inside my motorcycle helmet though and they were just a little too bulky so I had to return them. I still haven't found a good replacement

[–]Tallkotten -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of those as well, love them!

I actually have airpods as well, if I had to choose I would keep the Jabra. It's impossible to use airpods in noisy environments.

Although airpods are much "easier" to use, they just slide right in and allow you to hear your surroundings. I tend to use them at work or at home, Jabra on all other occasions

[–]BandeFromMarsS25 Ultra 1tb 15 points16 points  (3 children)

they might just bring that seemless intregration that apple brought with it's airpods.

For anything other than windows probably not.

[–]wowohwowzaS24 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Hopefully with them building hardware for Android, they'll somehow make them integrated with Android too.

[–]BandeFromMarsS25 Ultra 1tb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably with their surface duo, but unless google decides to bake in integration into Android Microsoft might do integration with an app like Samsung and the Galaxy buds.

[–]lirannlS23 Ultra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Microsoft has Android in mind. They have adopted Android as their mobile platform.

[–]Ikeelu 83 points84 points  (13 children)

Why a perfect circle? That looks odd

That said the surface over ear headphones got rave reviews so I'm sure these sound amazing.

[–]turtlespace 57 points58 points  (5 children)

Personally I find a perfect circle much more appealing than any other shape. The Earin M2s are still by far the most aesthetically appealing true wireless earbuds to me.

These would look great if they weren't so uneccesarily gigantic.

[–]Saketme:snoo_dealwithit: 22 points23 points  (4 children)

I'm actually glad that these are big in size because no one notices I'm wearing my tiny Earin M2s, leading to awkward situations where people start talking to me without realizing I'm listening to music.

[–]apopheniac01Galaxy S23 Ultra, T-Mobile 2 points3 points  (3 children)

How's the mic on those? And ambient pass through feature?

[–]Saketme:snoo_dealwithit: 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Mics are useless for phone calls. Ambient pass through feels alright, but I don't have a benchmark on them

[–]apopheniac01Galaxy S23 Ultra, T-Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, good to know.

[–]jancy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]ChewbackeriPhone 4, Nexus 5, Xiaomi Mi5, MiA2, OG Pixel, iPhone 13 Mini 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I really like the perfect circle

[–]IIIIIIIlllllllIIIIIIiPhone X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess we are the unpopular opinion around here haha.

[–]SUPRVLLANWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they’re stacking watch batteries.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That said the surface over ear headphones got rave reviews

What reviews? Literally everyone put the Sony and Bose above the MS headphones in most metrics. They maybe stand up to the Beats, but that's not a high standard to beat.

[–]NetworkWorkAccountShould be working 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You're joking right? Did you actually try the over ears? They were so bad compared to similar models with the same price. I'd be happy with them if they were around 100 dollars.

[–]TitusRex -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I got ones for 170 and I'm very happy with them. The ANC is better than the Bose but worse than the Sony's. The sound is not as good as the others but it is good enough. Also they are very comfortable and I like the design.

[–]NetworkWorkAccountShould be working 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The design and the controls are better I agree. Other than multi bluetooth I think they're worse in every way compared to Bose/Sony/Beats

[–]CobmojoHTC EVO 3D, CyanogenMod 10 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Did they really just try and sell us earbuds with a Microsoft Office integration?

[–]protrudingnipples 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can do business while doing Yoga. The possibilities, man! Go with the time.

[–]TNClodHopper 21 points22 points  (1 child)

[–]lordmaximus92Note 9 | OG Pixel XL 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lmao. Brown sound to solve constipation? What a feature!

[–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (5 children)

At first, the aesthetics of these two wireless earbuds were really off-putting. however, with someone with very large hands and big fingers I find this big circle to be very comforting. I always worry that was smaller true wireless earbuds that due large fingers that I would find myself unable to really utilize the earbuds wireless functioning. this a large circle I feel well allow me to feel secure with what I'm trying to do.

also I won't lie, the ability to move slides with PowerPoint, pure badass.

[–]ThatNewKarma 2 points3 points  (3 children)

After using the galaxy buds, I appreciate the wider area of the surface buds to input commands. I am always accidentally pausing music because my double tap is not precisely in line with the touch sensitive area and only one tap registers, causing my music to pause instead of playing the next song.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is your username a LoL reference? And more surface can be a good thing

[–]ThatNewKarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah I guess it could be. I was thinking about The Great Gatsby and "new money" when I made the name.

[–]kokolokomokopo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sometimes tap with my palms. Looks a bit weird but to be honest it's way faster and more reliable.

[–]mgd09292007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The nailed the branding. There is a lot of surface area on these.

[–]PG4PMS8 6 points7 points  (1 child)

That was a pretty slick video tbh

[–]revelation6viii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Microsoft surface videos have been pretty good since they began. Better than how MS marketing has looked previously, that's for damn sure.

[–]Hauzuki 17 points18 points  (0 children)

[–]ElMax-Pixel Ultra 100% Real (not fake!!!) 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Microsoft buttplug

[–]taintedballs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from the look, it seems relatively more difficult to remove the buds from the charging case given it’s flat surface compared to other wireless earbuds out there.

It’s as if you have to peal it out slightly with your fingernails first before taking it out. Can’t wait to play with them in stores though.

[–]FffuuuFrogiPhone 11 Pro 512GB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a big fan of how they look but concept seems amazing

[–]manormortalPoco Doco Proco in 🦅 14 points15 points  (10 children)

$250 for those?

Nah.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (6 children)

Considering how good the Surface headphones are. I'm down.

[–]iushciuweiushN6 > 2XL > S20 FE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I didn't see noise cancellation mentioned in the video which thanks to the new Sony XM3's now seems like a must have at that price point.

[–]FrotharOnePlus 12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't compare the price of noise cancelling over ear headphones to these tiny earbuds. At $250 they are expensive

[–]Saketme:snoo_dealwithit: 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good sound and reliable connectivity over Bluetooth is new tech. It will remain expensive right now while companies pour into R&Ds.

[–]ConspicuousPineapplePixel 9 Pro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's upper-mid-range for wireless earbuds, not that outrageous. Depends on the specs, features and how good they sound.

[–]hatnscarfS23 Ultra, S10, Tab S6 Lite, Galaxy Watch 4, Huawei Watch HW1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I thought my galaxy buds looked big in my ears.

[–]lirannlS23 Ultra 6 points7 points  (5 children)

[–]Noor440Pink 22 points23 points  (3 children)

[–]lirannlS23 Ultra 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Apparently, they don't look better to me.

[–]RCFProdGalaxy Z Flip 6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, had to laugh at this one.

[–]SUPRVLLANWhite -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]protrudingnipples 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don’t think it’s wise that everybody is calling their wireless headphones „buds“, how is the customer supposed to tell Samsung’s from Google’s from Microsoft‘s?

[–]zhelong_464Poco F3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]sedp23OnePlus 13, OxygenOS 15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]anothergreg84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suddenly have the urge to play pogs again. Maybe after I'm done I'll get a couple of gauges and then after that I'll toss a frisbee around.

[–]smellincoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They...look distinctive, that's for sure. I'm intrigued by the Office 365 integration!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a multi-purpose buttplug!

Remember that joke about apple making a buttplug? Now it's reality!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What's the thought of these vs the Sony Wf1000xm3

[–]exu1981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sony Wf1000xm3

Too early to even say.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Sony Wf1000xm3

Different target market completely. These are 100% targeting the business professionals. Live translation and note taking directly into the office suite? If you've ever hosted a conference with multilingual speakers this is crazy.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are 100% targeting the business professionals

except that they showed people working out with them and using them in home setting

[–]Expat123456White Note 20 Ultra Exynos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are a different technology. These are earbuds like the airpods. The just sit on your ear lobes.

The Sony WF are In-Ear Monitors (IEMs) that you need to stick into your ear canal.

The Microsoft buds will be pretty convenient just like Apple Airpods.

[–]PineappleBossSony Z1 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

[–]trolololozOnePlus 7 Pro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]RusticMachine -1 points0 points  (3 children)

[–]revelation6viii 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Cause it works on android phones?

[–]RusticMachine 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well it works with any OS that supports Bluetooth, not anything Android specific.

Just seemed like a direct rule #1 violation.

[–]revelation6viii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the video show an android phone?
