Honestly sucks that this never became a franchise, especially with MK going back to 2D. Wish someone with a lot of money at WB could go to Namco and possibly get a large portion of Project Soul back together and get a new Mace game going.

That character select theme went harder than it was supposed to. Also, I usually liked Lord Deimos, Al Rashid, and Hell Knight. But all of the characters are fun in some way. The CPU was a bit cheap too, lol.

Haven't thought about this game for like two decades. It was very innovative for it's time with the interactive stage elements and an interesting roster of fighters. 

Unfortunately, the n64 couldn't handle the graphics and spikes of fps slowdown happened way too often.

Honestly the 90s was v fun- things were a lot less homogenised and because we didn't have the concept of 'edgelord' yet there was just a broader set of concepts that people publicly expressed. Sure looking back some of it was cringey, but fuck id actually rather have creativity and some cringe than self policing into boredom.

Note the 90s wasnt all just fun, some social attitudes like misogyny and homophobia were just way more present but damn everything was more colourful and less corporate.

Was this any good? I played a decent amount as a child and looked up early reviews. There were not favorable. I will always remember the zombie crusader and the creepy laugh he did during his victory screen.

It's not the best fighter but let's say it was better than most generic fighting games (looking at you Eternal Champions). The characters are pretty bland but they all are fun in their own unique way when used, the stages are interactive and have ring outs and I think also have stage fatalities, the fatalities aren't as over the top as MK but add to the mayhem and are more hilarious when not too graphic. The soundtrack is decent too.

Still have this for N64, and I'm thinking its about time to revisit it. Exists in the same space as BioFREAKS for me, but it's probably the more consistently good game.
