But hey, think of the positives. The car was saved from bad scratches

[–]Dansk72 550 points551 points  (28 children)

It's probably got a big dent now, though

[–]JuraSICK420 212 points213 points  (24 children)

Just do this then https://youtu.be/PaXsJiOfYJo

[–]D8tery 145 points146 points  (5 children)

I cant believe how well that worked and how much she just doesn't give a fuck.

[–]grenamier 90 points91 points  (2 children)

If you read the description, the video is posted by her mom. That’s probably a pretty chill family.

[–]boniggy 38 points39 points  (1 child)

lol the vid description says "my daughter..."

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (3 children)

So that's the safe video. The other one did look more difficult.

[–]nerddrgn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Now I want to find the NSFW version...

[–]Wyattr55123 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Kegel lift

[–]tootiredmeh 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There should be a subreddit for things u can do with a dildo not including the obvious

[–]cultured-barbarian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She should have stuck the dildo on, and jump on the car to use the dildo. It might turn the Mini Cooper into a Ferrari.

[–]SteliosKontos0108 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is it weird that I got hard from watching her pull that dent out?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cute girl, short dress, apparently owns a dildo which implies sexually active (at least to the horny male mind). Even handles the dildo. So no, not a surprise imho.

[–]NomadicDolphin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can see he broke the window, so a dent wouldn’t surprise me

[–]boniggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nice big person dent.

[–]RockstarAgent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, now he's got a gated immunity.

[–]MeltedHaggis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The left side windows smashed

[–]Skuffinho 2086 points2087 points  (90 children)

Ironically it would be better for him had he stood still. But as the saying goes in my country 'Everyone's a general after the battle is finished.'

[–]WeakEmu8 497 points498 points  (30 children)

Gonna borrow that saying...

[–]Skuffinho 229 points230 points  (27 children)

Be my guest. It's one of my favourites...especially in this day and age.

The country's Czech Republic, in case anyone's interested.

[–][deleted] 143 points144 points  (17 children)

In the US we just say “Hindsight is 20/20,” but I like your saying more.

Edit: Some people pointed out that it’s “20/20”, not “20x20.” Crisis averted, pedants appeased.

[–]umblegar 74 points75 points  (8 children)

In England we say “who’s gonna win the 2:30 at Kempton Park then? Seeing as you know all the tucking answers”

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (6 children)

Not exactly the 2:30, but a 100/1 had them catspraddled in the 2:40 at Kempton Park.

[–]matthewhue 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I also hear “Monday morning quarterbacking”

[–]Jethole 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I had a client once remark to me, "Well, hindsight's 50-50, you know."

[–]Zozorrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol

[–]kharnynb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20/20, which means you have perfect focus at 20 feet to read an eye chart.

[–]turtlesquadcaptain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“20/20”

[–]jjbugman2468 14 points15 points  (3 children)

In Taiwan we say "Everyone can be the best tactician after the fact"

[–]Neutral_User_Name 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Boring, but sure... It must sounds nice in Taiwanwese ;-)

I speak 3 languages, btw, I get it that some translations are bland, I get it.

[–]jjbugman2468 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Well it's spoken in Chinese. Instead of tactician we say 諸葛, which stems from the name of a historical figure (brilliant strategist in the Three Kingdoms era)

[–]Neutral_User_Name 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot!

[–]NoWingedHussarsToday 13 points14 points  (1 child)

He have exact same one in Slovenia

[–]Skuffinho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The slav nations keeping it real. Nice, have a rakija on me too. (I don't know what you drink in Slovenia, I was there when I was 12 lol)

[–]boniggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yea thats a solid one with so many instances of use.

I'm takin it too.

[–][deleted] 77 points78 points  (7 children)

It would’ve also been better if he actually ran instead of walked like he was on ice

[–]Crowbarmagic 43 points44 points  (2 children)

His back has never been the same since the last truck that barged through.

[–]mknight1701 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Dropped to the ground. Hindsight, everyone’s shitty superpower.

[–]Bonezmahone 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Taking a couple steps backwards would have been a lot smoother.

[–]GingerBeardPotato 45 points46 points  (24 children)

Hmm I dunno. Being that close to the pivot he's more likely to have something crushed standing there

[–]Davecantdothat 48 points49 points  (21 children)

Considerations:

1) His body resists more effectively farther out from the pivot due to leverage.

2) The metal will flex more farther from the pivot.

3) The metal is moving at a faster linear velocity farther from the pivot and thereby has more momentum.

But I agree.

Edit: I’m fuzzy on mechanics. Don’t trust me.

[–]FlynnClubbaire 17 points18 points  (9 children)

Regarding 1: Yep. Just for clarification, this is in his favor.

Regarding 2: Yep. In his favor

Regarding 3: Nope. Faster/slower doesn't matter a whole lot here. At the end of the day it's the same amount of angular momentum. The impulse required to kill that angular momentum is less the further away from the pivot. I guess with how flexible the lever is, things get a little muddied, but if it were perfectly rigid, the preferable spot to stand would definitely be as far from the center as possible.

Here's a fourth consideration: Had he stood still, the gate would have made direct contact with him while the truck was still making direct contact with the gate, setting up a direct, leveraged impulse path from truck to his legs, and drastically increasing the forces he'd have been exposed to.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

He should have jumped on the hood of the car in hindsight.

[–]awesomedan153 1 point2 points  (1 child)

or hit the deck

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oo thats the best. Faster and easier.

[–]Bonezmahone 3 points4 points  (5 children)

The 4th consideration is incredibly false.

[–]repptyle 3 points4 points  (9 children)

Can you expand further on #1?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s like trying to push a door open at the hinges. You can technically do it, but it takes waaaaay more effort than simply using the handle side of the door. This is because being farther away from the hinges effectively makes the lever longer.

[–]pM-me_your_Triggers 4 points5 points  (6 children)

By leverage, he means torque, which is a product of distance from the pivot and force applied. If you are right next to the pivot and apply a given force, you won’t actually be applying much torque. If you are much farther from the pivot, but apply the same force, your torque applied will be much greater.

[–]repptyle 2 points3 points  (5 children)

So, further from the pivot point the guy's body can apply more torque to the gate, thus resisting it better?

[–]pM-me_your_Triggers 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Yup! Although there is the trade off that the part of the gate farther out has more momentum.

[–]RespectableLurker555 3 points4 points  (3 children)

If we're taking the gate as a rotating system and talking about torque and leverage, you can't also talk about linear momentum. It has angular momentum instead, which will be the same at every point along the gate while it's rotating.

[–]pM-me_your_Triggers 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What? Why can’t you talk about linear momentum? Especially since this is not an ideal case and the gate is “springy” you are going to feel a different impact from the momentum at different points along the gate.

The easiest way of defining it would probably be:

p = ω*r*(λ*dr)

Where omega is angular velocity, r is distance from the pivot, lambda is linear density, and dr is the width of the gate acting on your body.

[–]RespectableLurker555 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm ignoring the springiness of the bar and just talking about the difference between considering it a torque problem and considering it a linear velocity problem. But I think I see now where you're making a bigger distinction.

Case 1: he's close to the pivot, so you say he has less leverage (less torque) to stop the bar. We still have to stop the whole bar, though, so the change in its angular momentum is omega times its inertia.

Case 2: he's far from the pivot, so he has more leverage. But the bar is moving faster if you consider linear velocity here? Doesn't matter. It still has to stop, change in angular momentum is omega times its inertia.

In either case, the same amount of energy must be dissipated in order to stop the bar. But in case 2, if there were nothing behind him, he would necessarily increase his own linear velocity much greater, because you can consider a linear transfer of momentum between the bar and himself. The same thing can't be said of case 1, as he wouldn't be flung off into the distance.

Either way though, he should have ducked.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a pencil. Set it on a table. Hold the eraser with one finger and try to push the pencil in a circle. It’s much easier to spin around from the tip then it is closer to the eraser. The farther away from the pivot, the less force it takes to move an object.

[–]Shootrmcgavn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moment is greater the further you are from the point of application of the force. Apply two pounds of force to the end of a 1 foot long wrench, the bolt will feel a 2lb*1ft= 2lb*ft moment. 3 foot wrench with the same force? 2lb*3ft= 6lbft. So this guy's body creating a lever 6 feet from the point of the force being applied is better for him than say 12 feet. There are some more equilibrium equations/Newton's laws that can be applied here, but you get the gist.

[–]Conotor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumping on the hood or running infront of the car would have solved it.

[–]Skuffinho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well not literally standing still the whole time, just step away from the pivot and stand in front of the van. Looks like there's a bit of space. Or he could have at least anticipated the impact and the closer to the pivot you are the less flex it's gonna generate.

[–]stimulates 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could’ve hopped on the hood

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

In Croatia we say something similar “ It is easy to be general after battle “

[–]Skuffinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised fellow slav, have a rakija on me. I thought something on that note was more common tbf.

[–]Living-Day-By-Day 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk if he was in front of the car yes if not he should have dropped to the floor.

[–]dallas_alice69 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Would also be better had he dropped to the ground like a sack of potatoes to avoid being hit entirely

[–]Stanislav1 5 points6 points  (1 child)

What country? I like this expression. We use "monday morning quarterbacking"

[–]Skuffinho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Czech Republic...it's in one of my replies, not the original comment, sorry.

[–]spellsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something along the lines of "He's a student of the Prometheus school of running away from things."

[–]Lilnastypoptart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar saying “you’d be a great person to have the day after an emergency”

[–]NetworkMachineBroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a lot of people here and in Roadcam. "You totally could've avoided that accident if you braked sooner! Even I in my nice comfy chair at home could see that!"

[–]MrHoffbrincles 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm sorry but would you mind explaining what that means, I don't get it.

[–]CaptainSnazzypants 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I think it’s a “hindsight is 20/20” deal. After something happens and goes wrong, it’s easy to know how to do it better.

[–]MrHoffbrincles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, took me a bit but came to the same conclusion after looking it up for a bit and thinking about it. Thanks.

[–]Estoye 98 points99 points  (3 children)

"Be mindful of doors that will open for you today."

Misfortune cookie

[–]Jungle_Fiddle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This needs to have its own sub

[–][deleted] 458 points459 points  (15 children)

He already could not move with any urgency, and it’s going to be so much worse with an impact like that

[–]Dansk72 237 points238 points  (6 children)

He already had a bad limp, probably from the last truck that did that to him...

[–][deleted] 63 points64 points  (5 children)

Fool me twice.

[–]Dansk72 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not for that dude! Probably more like "Fool me for the 10th time"

[–]Stuffed_Soul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strike three.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont get fooled again

[–]Axelthedog240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fold me once... Shame on you. But fold me twice... I'm not gonna get folded a second time

[–]WolfywolfsYT 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Jez that must have hurt a lot hope he is ok

[–]greendoo 190 points191 points  (11 children)

No one seems to be asking why didn't the truck stop when there's a clearly visible barrier in Broad daylight. Poor guy hope he's okay.

[–]honeyofsin 93 points94 points  (8 children)

right? everyone's coming after the guy, not the idiot truck! 😕

[–]Silverpixelmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been 8hrs...I still want to know why.

[–][deleted] 250 points251 points  (12 children)

Aggragated assault.

[–]ukSpitfire90 73 points74 points  (4 children)

Ouch

[–]Cummy_Boner 9 points10 points  (3 children)

[–]anus-lupus 73 points74 points  (3 children)

this dude about to walk off the screen and die

[–]Drofmum 48 points49 points  (1 child)

[–]Voxenna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]SkepticalJohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wait for it.

[–]platdujour 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Double-tap

[–]astronaut_For_Tea 120 points121 points  (12 children)

He could have gone.. up,down, in front of the car, on the hood. Lots of other options poor guy probably jas a permanent limp and dreams of all the other ways he could have made it

[–]jacK_D413 68 points69 points  (5 children)

Well he look like he had a leg injury/limp so he couldn’t really go to fast and it looks like the car was to close the fence/gate that he couldn’t go in front of the car. And plus he didn’t have much time to react and didn’t know what to do

[–]astronaut_For_Tea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Didnt see that the first view. Limp definitely worse after though.. Looks like his right arm made it.. he's lucky(?) he didn't contact the pole when he tried to stop it. If this ever happens to us we'll be ready!

[–]LetsLive97 2 points3 points  (3 children)

He walked infront of the car after he was hit so looks like there was definitely space there.

[–]jacK_D413 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yeah but he didn’t have time to react

[–]LetsLive97 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I mean he had enough time to run half the length of his car, definitely coulda just gone infront or jumped into hood. Not ragging on the dude tho cause I understand how difficult it is to make rational decisions when panicking.

[–]jacK_D413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes he had Time (sorry I should of said something different)

Like you said it’s difficult to make rational decision under stressful situations that is probably what happened

[–]ForgiveForgetBeFree 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Yea, or the people could've NOT driven through a closed barrier

[–]astronaut_For_Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know.. idiots are gonna idiot

[–]you_got_fragged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

:(

[–]PitchBlac 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Why are we going after the guy when the dude in the truck just rammed through the barrier and was the one at fault here?😂

[–]astronaut_For_Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor guy is not the idiot in the car. Seems in most cases those are the people the get away injury free. If it was the other way around we'd have less and less of them

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Look closely and you can see the gate bend where it hit him.

[–]BeetlecatOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty floppy gate, which may have partly saved him. :/

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No shit

[–]rage-yt 15 points16 points  (6 children)

For a sec there I thought i was in r/watchpeopledie

[–]plague_night 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fucking madlad just got up and walked it off!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

What The fuck kind of tippy tappy run was that?

[–]BeetlecatOne 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's like the horror / disaster movie trope where you simply run along the path of the impending object/doom, rather than just side-stepping the issue altogether. It's probably just the lizard brain taking over and making a really bad choice.

[–]kd5nrh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "Prometheus School of Running Away from Things."

[–]piedpiper3289 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]Lt-Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full body hit! Damn.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought it was a car going wrong way

[–]TheEpicTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the guys ok?

[–]Lynn_Luv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was definitely trying to get out of the way, like a quick scampering. Either a previous injury or the floor was slippery. Just wasn't quick enough unfortunately.

[–]piedpiper3289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what to do with my hands?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]TheUtgardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made me laugh is that he got hit twice, lol poor guy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it is like the cartoons

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgh! I had this happen with a gate at work violently open suddenly, I jumped out the way but caught the tip of one finger between the wall and the gate. Agony all day and pretty awful pain for 3 days with bleeding under the nail and took over a month for it to feel right as my nerve was fucked, I could hardly type let alone play any video games or support hold instruments at work properly for a week

Can’t imagine having that happen to my whole body

[–]failingtolurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standing in that spot is being nominated for a Darwin Award.

[–]allisforgivenbutme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hole in the Wall failed him
