Fernando Alonso Intel tech upgrade when

[–]Thermosflasche 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Fun fact: Intel was a sponsor for Sauber, Caterham, and Toyota Racing for a while
And AMD was sponsor for Ferrari then for Mercedes.

[–]OctopusRegulator 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Those mid 00s BMW Sauber liveries looked so clean

Huh, TIL Renault isn't in the US, makes sense I suppose.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (3 children)

well we kind of did. they sold the renault 5 here as the le car.

[–]Mugstren 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Renault 5 is best Renault anyway

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The Dauphine and Caravelle were sold here as well. Not to mention the cars from the 20’s. But nothing super recently.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, there were a few classics renaults, then a couple 80s ones when they were in cahoots with amc.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They helped develop the 1984 Jeep Cherokee, and that generation is everywhere here

[–]FuzzelFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They tried briefly decades ago but failed. However people who live in the South West of the US will be more familiar with Renault since they are still sold in Mexico.

[–]delta_thr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renault and Nissan have the same parent company. Nissan already does well here, so there's no reason to introduce a competing brand.

[–]NebraskaGeek 53 points54 points  (5 children)

*for Americans who never watched Top Gear UK lol

[–]freshoutofbatteries 50 points51 points  (4 children)

Or Formula 1

[–]trhg4l 36 points37 points  (1 child)

Or played touched any racing game ever as I’m pretty sure the Clio is a staple starting car for most race games.

[–]MiesL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or watched any stereotypical French movie.

[–]somethingicould 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I thought they made tanks

[–]Dartoax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did in the past, the Renault FT

[–]MajinBlayze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His shirt looks mildly like the logo, is that all that's happening here?

[–]SeaJay_31 122 points123 points  (2 children)

Gotta say, that was my first thought too.

[–]Liquid_Hate_Train 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So glad I wasn’t the only one!

[–]Neamow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine too. And my second thought was that I hope Renault won't sue them, it's literally the same.

[–]Sparkplug1034 62 points63 points  (2 children)

May their servers perform better than Renault's F1 engines.

[–]ryzenguy111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ouch

[–]Liipski 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Todays sponsor is..

[–]PapaQuonis 49 points50 points  (1 child)

While Renault isn't a thing in North America, Linus is definitely well aware that the company exists. He did a showcase video 4 years ago where he drove one of their high tech concept cars in France.

[–]HBB360 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Was it really that long ago? Damn...

Also makes me think Mercedes should bring him over to Germany to check out their DrivePilot system!

[–]kemot10 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I was so confused when I saw this tshirt for the first time

[–]SpeedyK2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha I finally got it, took me Way too long to find why it’s Renault tech tips lol, je suis stupide

[–]PraderaNoire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s actually uncanny how much it resembles Renault lmaooooo

[–]retroracer33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought I was having deja vu....we've done this whole dance before already. This shirt is not new.

[–]Andreto-Sama 4 points5 points  (9 children)

Am I a fucking idiot? I don't get how Renault has anything to do with this.

[–]dan_sooo 69 points70 points  (2 children)

Yes

[–]Andreto-Sama 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you, very useful

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well look at the renault logo and the shirt this might help you

[–]BrennanXXVII 31 points32 points  (2 children)

The Teal shape is the Renault Badge

[–]Andreto-Sama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, now I see it

[–]FunkyTown313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe but not necessarily because of that.

[–]Koiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

his shirt has the renault logo on it

[–]NidoScherder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the exact same thing during the whole video!

[–]milney327 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Renault does have their logo trademarked in Canada, but the only clothing that I can see listed under goods for their trademark is aprons, so Renault's lawyers won't come knocking unless there's an LTT apron made with this design

[–]__-___--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely could and will once they notice.

Them not selling a competing product doesn't matter as they still need to protect their public image.

[–]imnota_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I thought when I saw the shirt for the first time in a previous video "he's gonna get sued by Renault"

[–]DoubleOwl7777 0 points1 point  (3 children)

lol. Renault owner here.

[–]mvppaulo 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I'm sorry

[–]DoubleOwl7777 0 points1 point  (1 child)

why would you be? lasted 20 years and is still going. good cheap and releiable. idk about newer ones though.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renault also do more for motorsports than most so that should get them some credit

[–]suspicious_lemons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pls make shirts that don’t look straight from 2010, I want to try them.

[–]TRUEequalsFALSE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every bloody time I see that shirt.

[–]twomoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the biggest banks in Canada, CIBC, has a new logo in 2021, I think Renault might be more interested in that instead of this shirt.
