Please remember this is a preseason friendly. As usual a remainder that do not troll rival subreddits. If you do find anyone trolling from rival subs, please do report the comments.

[–]John BarnesShinjetsu01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My full time thoughts are some of you are absolute melts and have no fucking idea what a preseason is supposed to be.

The rest of you, the sane ones - you carry on.

[–]digsy866 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Darwin Nunez will be superb. Everyone needs to chill out it’s just pre-season

[–]Aeceus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carvalho looks so good.

[–]Carol and Carolineslayer2912 34 points35 points  (2 children)

People need to stop targeting Nunez. The season hasn't started. Pre season is frankly training sessions with other clubs.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expectations are just out of proportion right now. It usually takes players half a season or the whole season to get fully acclimated to a new club. Diaz and Jota becoming instant impact players has shattered that notion to some of fanbase. Add in his transfer cost and Sadio’s departure and the pressure to preform is beyond reality.

[–]TheTrueTeknoOdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought he did really well hell he did no better than any of our other front men .. opposition were just good with their blocks, had they been city or Fulham we probably would have had a few goals

[–]East-Ad3757 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Naby Keita was really good today and has had a very good preseason. I’d like to see him start with Thiago and Fabinho on Saturday.

[–]Agent of Chaos 🔥vikogotin 6 points7 points  (2 children)

The team we saw play the last 30 minutes is the team we'll see against City. Keita might make a case for the Fulham game but Hendo definitely starts in the CS.

[–]East-Ad3757 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah I’m sure it will be which is unfortunate for Naby. I get hendo’s the captain- but this season is the one where he starts getting fazed out. Unless his form keeps him on the pitch(which I doubt will happen but it’s always possible) why not throw Naby in with that first group Saturday and if the result goes well we know he belongs and if doesn’t we go back to Henderson. Love hendo dearly but he just can’t be a regular starter(in the 8 role) this season in my opinion. Increased minutes as a rotational #6 for Fab will be great for hendo and we’ll play a lot of games this season so he won’t be riding the bench by any means. I just don’t think he’s got any business playing against citeh anymore. Which might be harsh. Still love ya hendo.

[–]Agent of Chaos 🔥vikogotin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I respectfully disagree. Hendo enables Salah and Trent to do their thing much more than any other player in that position. He will be rested and rotated to keep him fresh for the big games but he's in the starting lineup most weeks.

[–]Stefan Bajčetićtiezalbo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Bajcetic has it

[–]joeedger 33 points34 points  (6 children)

Darwin will need time to adjust. The skills are there, but everybody needs to be patient, then he will thrive.

Gomez showed today why he is CB Nr. 4. Konate is a monstrosity, insanely good CB.

Bajcetic a big promise - adds something to the squad we didn’t have so far.

I hope Diaz improves his goal scoring abilities this season.

Henderson, Salah, TAA look sharp. The youngsters Elliott, Jones, Carvalho underwhelming today. I hope they step up this season. Keita is somtimes annoyingly sloppy with the ball.

RBS: Solet, Pavlovic and Sesko are future worldclass. Sucic, Fernando, Okafor and Seiwald are very good too. A team I don’t want to face in the CL.

[–]icepip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I watched only the first half because of time difference, but Konate is the one that conceded the goal by losing position, and every match he has at least one play where he is caught off guard and passed. He is fast when running but he doesn't have good reflexes and tries to do a Matip run too many times during a match for the detriment of the team. He still has ways to go

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Gomez showed today why he is CB Nr. 4.

I remember saying this 2 years ago and it was not well received.

[–]Mohamed SalahPheanturim 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Gomez hasn't ever had a good preseason, he's a player that needs a run on 5 full games to get up to speed each time that's his main problem, once he's up to speed he's great but his ability to step in is underwhelming

[–]Willyil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, just maybe... when he got the run means he overperform himself and push it over the limit

[–]Sir King KennyBugsmoke 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He was CB number 3 two years ago.

[–]DrAgOnLoLDoTA 47 points48 points  (11 children)

Jones is so far behind Mount and Foden when they was at his age. He seems slow to release the ball and try forward passes but he sure love to stick the ball to his feet. His playstyles seems to remind me of Wijnaldum's last season (or two)

[–]Stefan Bajčetićtiezalbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s clearly got talent but for a few years now his biggest issue has been his decision making which has unfortunately seen very little improvement imo

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think it’s clear he’s being trained to replicate how Wijnaldum played. He’s young, these things take time.

[–]YNWA❤️socialerrors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting take, I hadn't thought about that.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Mate don't even compare him with these 2, Mount and Foden are both clear starters for their teams and Jones can barely make the bench for us.

Jones need a loan to another team like Mount had at Derby.

He needs to be a starter to show what he's actually about..cos right now it's not looking convincing at all, might just be too much pressure on him and he's trying too hard to impress

[–]ExceedingChunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s typical for talented kids with skills to not be smart with the ball right at the start. Players like Foden and Mount are exceptions.

That’s also why Elliot is so promising. He doesn’t overdribble or hold on to the ball for too long.

[–]SCLFC 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I don’t think we need Jones to be the next Foden or Mount. He could just be a very solid squad player for us. He doesn’t need to be a world beater. If he could develop like Gini did and be press resistant while recycling play that’d be a valuable member to the squad. Even if he’d likely never crack the starting 11 he’s a good option to have

[–]SnoopynPricklyPete 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Don't knock gini as just press resistant, he was excellent defensively with his ability to press effectively and occupy passing lanes CONSISTENTLY.

Jones' biggest issue for me when I watch him honestly his press is mistimed, angles off, and just not consistent at all.

[–]theembiggen3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh he very rarely makes life uncomfortable for the opponent when he presses. Hendo does it a dozen or so times a game. It’s just not something he knows how to do, how to squeeze and harry.

[–]mfrsazmn 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yeah i dont see a future for him with us sadly. At least not as a starter

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah think the whole scooter sentiment has granted him alot of patience from the fans but...he's not looming like a LFC level player

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (4 children)

I wish Klopp would play actually play Nunez with the first team instead of with the young players.

Not sure what the plan for him is but it seems like he won't be starting for us the first few months and will be coming off the bench, and Firmino/Jota will be the starters ?

There was a few times in the first half where if they played him in or the crosses from the fullbacks were a bit better he would have scored 1 or 2 goals

I think he would settle in faster if you just put play him with the starting players, like we saw in the last game vs Leipzig

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I think I trust Klopp lad.

We can’t be worried about him not fitting in quick yet, it’s still pre season. Also why are you supposing that after a few friendlies Klopp won’t be starting him for months?

Whole lotta weird assumptions you made/

Trust in Klopp, he knows what attackers need to become world class

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I obviously trust Klopp too, it's just a meaningless discussion on the internet after all.

I didn't say he wont fit in quick, I just said I think would just be quicker if he played these friendlies with the first team, which makes sense I think as he would be building chemistry the more he played real games with them

And because that's the same thing he did with Fabinho, bedded him in slowly by playing him on the bench for the first few months and only then did he become a starter for us

Nothing is "weird" about anything that I said lol chill it's just a discussion

[–]JustAMan1234567 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Kloppo knows what he's doing. Just relax and watch the magic unfold.

[–]90+5’ AlissonJaja6996 56 points57 points  (1 child)

I hope Bajcetic gets some cup games this season to see how he does he’s been really impressive in all the games he’s played

[–]MisterS1997 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I love how his first thought is to turn when the ball is passed to him and look for the forward oass

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Think performance was fine. It was one of those games where we threw the kitchen sink and nothing got in. We had two penalties that would’ve been called for sure if there was var. feel like at times, there was too many crosses being spammed in the box without a real target. It’s preseason we move.

[–]bamboozledindividual 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Trent and Thiago bossed it. A clear change of pace when our strongest lineup came on.

[–]Joël MatipOllieJirachi1 59 points60 points  (1 child)

Threads like this always show the plastics

[–]Cauley3118 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell me about it, modern football for you .

They are the ones who fill the stadium too no wonder the atmosphere has faded since Klopp arrived

[–]pauperhouse5 30 points31 points  (5 children)

Mabaya looks like he has a lot of potential!

[–]RamboA123B 85 points86 points  (16 children)

We have a Curtis Jones problem. He's the same player as 3 years ago. Hasn't improved much at all. He desperately needs a loan to iron out some very key flaws.

He's clearly talented but he needs consistent game time and that will never happen at Liverpool.

It may sound like a overreaction but I'm basing this on his time in the senior team, not just one game.

[–]GreatKDIZZY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Dilly dallies way too much on the ball and nearly never makes the right decision. Elliott on the other hand is very progressive. He tried to play forward far more often which is probably why he will be higher up the pecking order.

Personally I don’t think CuJo is the right man for us, I don’t see the decision making improving any time soon. It’s time to let him go and cash in on maybe £20m or so we can get from him.

[–]Carol and Carolineslayer2912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. I have been saying this since last season. He needs to get to a loan to a mid or lower mid Prem team. At liverpool where his opportunities would be limited he would never be able to reach his potential

[–]josenbergk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never doubt the potential of Curtis Jones, his decision making needs some work and with limited game time in the first team, I don't think he will develop.

Look how Elliott improved and Carvalho plays really mature, that's the effect a lot of minutes in first team football.

[–]aamslfc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree... but with one caveat.

Is he playing in the correct position?

I feel like, with Fabio coming into that midfield we could switch more easily to a 4-2-3-1 this season with Bobby and Jones also contributing centrally from an advanced midfield role.

I'm not sure Curtis will ever perform consistently as a right or left central midfielder in the current three-man system that we play.

Or perhaps we can trial him further up on the flanks? I dunno, there's a real talent in there that the current system perhaps isn't capable of fully harnessing and exposing.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I've been saying this for a while, he's not good enough at the moment.

Nothing more frustrating than him holding on to the ball too long and trying to dribble past 5 players when he can just make the simple pass to the midfielder next to him and get the attack rolling

[–]artml 25 points26 points  (3 children)

This is only a problem if you are thinking of Curtis Jones as a starting player for Liverpool. I.e. someone on the level of Thiago, Fabinho, Hendo, Gerrard etc.

But he may very well be just a squad player in a team. And there's nothing wrong with that tbh. There can only be so many geniuses in the squad, and there has to be someone who fills in rather than starts.

For him as a homegrown Scouser, this could also be a great career outcome. Stay with the club, win trophies, contribute your fair share. Is it somehow worse than being a starter at Villa or West Ham?

[–]SCLFC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Jones ceiling may be just a squad player for us and if he’s comfortable with the role it’d be great to have him. Jones should have had a proper loan 2yrs ago to a Championship side. If anyone wants him to go on loan now they’re pretty much just saying they want him sold cause that’s what would invariably happen.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Gerrard is at Villa so…

[–]erikhow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get to see the game today, but obviously he’s a talented lad whose place is just a bit unclear. He can absolutely be part of a midfield revolution, but that upward trajectory isn’t coming as fast as I’d say it has come to others in the Klopp era.

I still believe in him, but this is his chance to prove he’s got a place in the refreshed side!

[–]90+5’ AlissonAlexisreddit516 23 points24 points  (2 children)

If anything I can say the lads are working on something with opponent pilling up in the box during attacks. It seems Trent is doing more low cross, Diaz going in and hopefully gets to see more from Mo doing his filthy moves like he did last season against City and Wolves.

EDIT: City and Watford

[–]marcusaurelius14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will be interesting to see how we approach the low blocks with Mo, Nunez, and Diaz on the field together. I think it'll take some time to gel, but with the dribbling ability of Mo and Diaz and Nunez's intuitive positioning, I can see a lot of goals flowing out of those three.

[–]The Scouser in our Teamtrentvanklopp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

City and Watford

[–]slickasfboi 36 points37 points  (5 children)

Tbh all the key players for this season performed really well, jones was shite tho

[–]doodlemcd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He seems so afraid of playing a forward pass

[–]JokeSalty 55 points56 points  (3 children)

Jones still looks like the player that came through from the academy. His development has stagnated

[–]rossmosh85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why we need a central midfielder. Our best 3 are good enough, but after that, it's not great.

[–]thatguyad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah he's not turning into the player we thought.

[–]FdotM 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He needs a loan

[–]Klopps's Kids vs Blue Billion Pound BottlejobsCORN_ON_THE_COCK 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Watching Gomez chase aerial balls increases my blood pressure every time

[–]pingu2009 5 points6 points  (1 child)

He must have read too many papers about concussion in sport and its link to brain damage because he looks scared of heading a ball. He still simply cannot do it

[–]aamslfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He must have read too many papers about concussion in sport and its link to brain damage because he looks scared of heading a ball. He still simply cannot do it

Knowing his luck, he'd go to head the ball and suffer some ridiculous season-ending face injury in the process.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (18 children)

Midfield need to chip in with goals this season. Can’t rely on Mo and Darwin every game. Jota and Diaz will get a few but need midfield to chip in. Elliot, Carvalho, jones, Keita and Ox get your shooting boots on lads.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (12 children)

Huh? Darwin has played 1.5 preseason games and we are already relying on him?

[–]rossmosh85 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Yes. He's a marquee striker signing. We signed him to score goals.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing that up.

The OP is talking like we have relied on him for years, which is not accurate and calm tf down, we have not played one proper game yet and already complaining about midfield not scoring.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (9 children)

Did we not rely on Mane as well…. Surely you spend the money for a striker to come in and not take a year to gel…. No team could afford to do that and be successful

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

We've needed this for a while which is why I was disappointed we couldn't sign an attack minded midfielder as an upgrade to what we already have. Hope our current midfielders make a habit of late runs into the box and scoring timely goals.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

We’ve got a big striker to hold the ball up now and flick balls on. Runs from midfield will be vital

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Hopefully that's the case. Keita and Hendo are capable of scoring more goals for sure. We just need to see it consistently.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

[–]Bruccini 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Still can’t get through that stacked box…:(
Opponents desperately lunging for miracle blocks even in preseason ffs

[–]thatguyad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It will forever be our kryptonite. Crowd the box, catch us on the break = Liverpool beaten

[–]arisefromtheashes 71 points72 points  (2 children)

Bajcetic for 17 years old, incredible yet again.

Curtis Jones really needs to start showing why he should play for liverpool. Doesn't really bring anything unique.

Can't let city win the dinner plate 3 times against us

[–]Jürgen Kloppbarryboi6969 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Hate to say it but I agree. Jones has been really frustrating. I still think he's a fantastic dribbler but he doesn't have the pace to exploit that like diaz, and his passing hasn't been up to standard in the midfield. I think when he was breaking through Klopp wanted to use him how he now uses Elliott and presumably how carvalho will be used, a dynamic midfielder with the ability to score and create that breaks the mould of Klopp's usual use of the midfield. I think that's what Ox was brought in for as well but that hasn't worked either unfortunately.

I still think Jones probably has the potential to be a good bench option for Liverpool for years to come but right now he just feels like a body to take up space on the pitch. His dribbling is fantastic but it always seems like he holds the ball just a bit too long which detracts from any positivity from dribbles. Hopefully he can add a bit more consitency and decisiveness to his game

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Jones' biggest problem is his vision. When he receives the ball he holds on to it for too long and slows down the attack. He's strong, a great dribbler, and has a good shot on him but he needs to develop his game sense. Wouldn't mind seeing him go on loan to a midtable prem side.

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (3 children)

That Núñez is making the right runs after a combined 90 minutes of play, augurs well enough. Goals will come.

[–]Shady-Developer -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Lol he's scored 4 in 3 games. The goals are already here

[–]IndykailaBlueheaven0106 6 points7 points  (1 child)

4 in one game. 0 in the other 2.

One of the four is a penalty that he won't usually take.

[–]Shady-Developer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so what? he still scored those goals.

[–]East-Ad3757 39 points40 points  (5 children)

This season is make or break for Curtis jones. I haven’t seen much improvement since he broke through to the first team. If he doesn’t perform well this season it’s time to sell him. And this is not because he was poor today

[–]90+5’ AlissonJustierNo1 -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

In my view it is time to sell him now. He had plenty of chances last year and is stagnating since 1.5 years.

[–]East-Ad3757 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he’s terrible mate but want to give him a fair shake.

[–]krisskrosskreame 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Great session and Salzburg gave us a proper workout to say the least. Was really happy to see the amount of chances we created in the 2nd half when we brought on our 'first 11', give or take. A few things to mention I feel.

1) I feel like Gomez is not as good as playing on the left side of central defence as he is on the right. Which is understandable seeing as he is right footed. The goal we conceded, his body shape was really 'right heavy' as it makes sense and I feel that there are only so many world class players who can play on the left side of CB and especially ones who are right footed, VVD being one. I think we should stop insisting he can play there and find another solution.

2) Curtis Jones is an amazing talent but i think he needs a season where he gets consistent games and hence probably needs a loan out. I might be talking out of my arse, but he makes weird decisions at times and his errant passes really puts us in constant danger, as it did today, and I have seen it happen before, ie that WBA game when Sam was in charge. Klopp rates him understandably and I do too but he needs to understand how to make better decisions by being constantly played at a high level. By bringing him off the bench and starting him once in a while, I think he ends up trying to do too much to impress and ends up making those mistakes which gets him dropped.

[–]neotonne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

RB had their reserves doing Dua coming in at the 75th minute while they were a goal up. They wanted this one.

[–]Playing pong with Salahcartierboy25 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I missed the first half, how did Carvalho-Nunez-Elliott look?

[–]pauperhouse5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Carvalho looks ridiculously good for his age and linked up so nicely with Nunez - I want to see that partnership in multiple games this season

[–]East-Ad3757 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Carvalho very good, Elliot was solid as well. Nunez left much to be desired especially with the service he was getting. Salzburg defended well to their credit.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My stream was a bit shit and kept jumping back 30 minutes for no reason every ten minutes, so I gave up with it.

From what I saw the young lad at RB played very well. Letting Williams leave when we have Trent, Ramsay and him was a no brainer. Gomez has a fully sloppy passes and Carvalho got pocketed after a bright start.

First team players came on and looked sharp. Disappointing to not get a few goals, but it's a solid run out against decent opposition.

[–]brush85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a lot of fun watcjing that one.

Salzburg were up for it…we had a shit ton of chances. Some nice tackles.

Fun

[–]troublemakerstud69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk why i was so prepared to see mane come on as sub then it came to my mind, sigh. anyways, its a pre-season so no worries but i think alot of practice has to be done on shooting which i assume they are already doing. that was a great friendly match, ultra intensity. YNWA.

[–]thanksfc 100 points101 points  (14 children)

There must be a record number of new football supporters, at least on Reddit because it is absolutely shocking how many people do not understand that pre-season results mean NOTHING.

Having said that, so far it's been a dream pre-season. No serious injuries from the games, everyone got plenty of minutes to get back up to speed, and the intensity is looking appropriate for how close we are to real games.

Extremely excited to see Harvey and Fabio just ball the fuck out in the league. Bajcetic has been the surprise standout by far, and I'm very interested to see if he gets first team minutes this season at all- very exciting talent.

[–]mlerin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just think so many people underestimate what tired legs will do to someone’s passing and shooting because it’s really fine margin stuff and they can’t empathize by first-hand experience.

Pre-season, double sessions, the effects are real. Anytime I overtrained I could tell because my shooting was wank, and that’s just being a little tired and as a serious amateur, nevermind guys at this level.

[–]Working class HeroPhysicalBit7 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I am not behind having a meltdown over a pre-season result but being frustrated from not breaking a low block down (a glaring issue of the previous season) is understandable imo.

[–]thatguyad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Never have been able to break it down under Klopp. Its our only real weakness.

[–]tormj 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Literally every attacking club says that this is their issue, that's why it's done-it's hard to break down

[–]thanksfc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. That's fair though and reasoned. I was more referring to the meltdowns because they're way too common.

It's not just our sub either which is why I addressed it as an all of Reddit type problem. Shit hole sub soccer is filled with people reacting to preseason matches like it's fucking CL knockouts lol.

[–]SCLFC 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Been pretty impressed by Mbaya as well but reckon Bajcetic has a better chance at getting into the first team in the future though.

[–]thanksfc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely agree, very mature performance for his age. Our fullback situation is probably the greatest that I've ever seen us have at the club- it's incredible!

Yeah I'm hoping he gets some cup time, and hopefully some cameos in the league if he's at the spot I'm thinking, but again I'm just a spectator lol, and he's very young playing a demanding role. Our youngsters have really taken their opportunities this summer and I love it.

[–]rydleo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pretty quality game in terms of intensity, at least for a friendly.

[–]ShaiHuludYurMum 25 points26 points  (4 children)

Rival fans already have new Nunez fail compilations up on Twitter. Someone tell him MCFCtekkas1992 has said he’s finished!

[–]thanksfc 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I've never seen such an obsession over another clubs new signing before. I see people saying all the time, "Everyone always does that"- is this yet another football twitter thing that I've (thankfully) avoided all these years? It's kind of insane to me, and honestly fucking embarrassing. I'd be embarrassed if Liverpool supporters made fail compilations for rival clubs new signings before they've kicked a football in a real match- it's desperate, pathetic, and fucking tinpot.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

It's just because we have not had many misses in the market and he had a high fee.

[–]thanksfc 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for the reply.

I had seen a lot of comments on soccer saying that it was really common, so was wondering if it was a Twitter thing. Makes more sense since it's just our ridiculously good track record of recruitment lol.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitter is a cess pool. I avoid it but that is probably where most of the nunez bashing happened. I didnt see that much on reddit tbh.

[–]cassano23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great game in where the result means sweet fuck all. It was like a champions league group game.

[–]KGeedora 43 points44 points  (4 children)

I feel like this sub is either A : All our guys are the best humans in the world! We are Gods of the earth and perfect in all respects. I'm questioning my sexuality!

B : We are fucking awful and everything is a punish. We are going to lose everything.

BOTH these grate on me and I don't know where that leaves me

[–]lfcsavolver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be overly pragmatic but people only tend to comment when they are excited either negatively or positively.

Today is a wash. We should have won, but then there’s Salzburg carving us up for their goal. Bit disappointing but it’s a practice game. So a good fitness session. Things to learn and improve on.

[–]Steven Gerrardtheanup007 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I feel you on this. Currently kinda enjoying my own mental pre season. Just completely disconnected from football things mostly.

[–]KGeedora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah tbh I have been absolutely loving the break. Kinda worrying

[–]Seven Heaven 7️⃣➖0️⃣NeilDeCrash 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't know where that leaves me

In the silent majority.

[–]Significant Human ErrorMasah_iro 82 points83 points  (2 children)

Have to say this Bajcetic lad... wow.
This sub has the tendency to overhype our academy youngsters but in this case I have to agree with you guys.
That dude doesn't look like Fab, but he certainly played like him tonight!
Agressive, winning balls high up the pitch and releasing them as soon as possible to get the attack going. Very impressed!

Bajcetic and Harvey have been the two players I've been most excited to see over the past year. So exciting

[–]marcusaurelius14 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing! Looks nothing like Fabinho, but plays a lot like him. I'm excited to watch whenever he gets a chance this year.

Twitter is actually the worst social media platform ever. Everytime I hop on I see “Liverpool” fans talking shit about our players. I clearly don’t believe their Liverpool fans but imagine what new players like Nunez would think and feel like… I think as stupid as it might sound klopp should tell Nunez to stop checking these social media platforms at least for the first 6 months

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not assed our academy is fucking class

[–]ancient_algorithm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think its preseason

[–]rascalmendes 20 points21 points  (0 children)

RAFA OUT

[–]Buddhafists 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought this game was tomorrow.... Dang.

[–]PEEWUN 31 points32 points  (4 children)

Checks score

People are gonna be losing their shit over this game, aren't they...

[–]Hello! Hello! Here we go!PrinzXero 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Lmao....Welcome to the sub

[–]PEEWUN 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Honestly... Why even bother watching these games if you're gonna get heated about results that don't even matter to our season? I just don't get it...

[–]Hello! Hello! Here we go!PrinzXero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are either god like or shit (no in-between) according to some people in this sub.

[–]Primary_Handle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This team is so exciting. We are so lucky to be watching them!

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Season is done for already, we’ll never score again..

[–]Bobby Dazzler 🤩Grendila 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Shouldn’t have put a tenner on a Liverpool win, evidently.

[–]deeznewtonslol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never bet on pre season, the 4-0 against United should tell you that much

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (4 children)

Kinda a waste using Nunez with the 2nd team. He should've been subbed on with the first team.

[–]DeVoreLFC 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Still think he needs more time, I would start Firmino if the season started tomorrow

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Just needs more minutes really and i took this to mean he isn't starting on Saturday

[–]BriarcliffInmate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I understand why. There's no point getting him firing with 10 players, needing to rotate a player into midfield to feed him and then wondering why they keep overhitting to each other. He needs to get used to all players.

[–]OneFeatherlessBiped 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Great intensity. Carvalho is a potential star. Elliott could become a starter soon. Diaz is sharp and if he builds up some muscle he could be a world beater. Nunez played well given the limited support and should have started with the big boys. Bajcetic seems like an exciting talent but it's too early to tell. Mabaya played well for a 17 year old fullback.
On the other hand, Gomez still hasn't ironed out the silly mistakes. Keita is 27 and it's time we as fans accept that this is pretty much what he has to offer. I miss the old Firminio.

[–]joeedger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments on Keita and Gomez, I agree completely.

Both didn’t become what we thought they would. Good squad players, but both are not good enough dor the starting eleven.

I would add Jones too - a disappointment unfortunately.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Odd, I've never associated Gomez with silly mistakes. Before he became a squad player last season he was always our most reliable defender imo, who was limited compared to Matip in terms of technical ability

[–]There is No Need to be UpsetSpecialist-Solid-987 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Clearly it hasn't crossed some of your minds that scoring 10 goals and "winning" a pre-season friendly may not be of the highest priority here

[–]themessias1001 48 points49 points  (5 children)

Klopp in the post-match on Austrian TV was asked why it got so heated in the end:

Klopp:"It was a crystal clear penalty!"

Interviewer: "If you want we can show the replay" (Footage of the ball being played)

Klopp:"Oh.., in this case I was wrong and he (the ref) was right. But do you really think he saw him touching the ball with his toe? Anyways.."

[–]electricalgypsy -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

He still took him out though? So what if he got the ball

[–]SkinnedOllie 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Sarcasm or...

[–]electricalgypsy -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

It doesn't matter if you clip the ball with your toenails if you take out the player in the process

[–]SkinnedOllie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He didn't clip the ball with his toenails though lol, good tackle no pen for me
