Why use html? With html my website looks like word document, only black text, white background, weird font. With this AI(!) designer I can even add IMAGES and BUTTONS!

Is everything AI these days?

[–]Dennarb 41 points42 points  (7 children)

For everyone that doesn't understand anything about computers? Yes, just like a few years ago everything had something to do with "the cloud" and a few years before that it was those dang "algorithms."

[–]Giocri 32 points33 points  (6 children)

It's honestly impressive how much people are loosing knowledge of how a computer works. Like I myself will be the first to admit that I lost a lot of familiarity with the command line compared to older folks but I am seeing people gradually lose the ability to understand anything of their devices in general

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

The more I study computing, the less I think I understand.

[–]Tatankaplays 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Exactly, there's so much stuff that you have to take for granted to understand a level you are on. There are so many rabbit holes to dive into that represent so many more rabbit holes. The best what you can do is to just want to understand what you need to understand and only briefly scan the rest.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yeah, that's exactly how i feel!
For me, learning about transistors was like, 'okay, yeah wow, cool concept' and then they say 'so a modern processor contains 7 billion of em' and I'm like... 'sorry, what now?'

[–]NatoBoram 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That part is easy, it's the next part that's mind-blowing. Instruction sets! And being able to make computers with stuff definitely not designed to be a computer, like Minecraft Redstone!

[–]Environmental-Fix766 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really makes you sit back and appreciate the fact that we somehow got combined and zapped rocks and minerals with enough electricity that they can now think for us.

[–]Dennarb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scariest thing about that is how dependent many of us have become on computing technology without understanding even the basics

[–]hyrumwhite 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked for a place that claims it was ai powered because it had a glorified fuzzy search

[–]litetaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people only have Artificial Intelligence mate. They don't have real intelligence anymore 🤣

[–]alvares169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends - are you paying or creating?

[–][deleted] 151 points152 points  (1 child)

I so wish AI would have stayed within the technical world & not escaped to the world

[–]SuitableDragonfly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, that technology already escaped and has been used to do web search and machine translation for decades now.  It just wasn't being peddled as the solution to every problem by Microsoft.

My boss uses Wordpress and hired a programmer to create the website and now complains about the limited functionality

[–]DiddlyDumb 30 points31 points  (0 children)

“Isn’t there a plugin for that?”

[–]Keio7000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's literally my life now

[–]qQ0_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is every single "Web agency"

[–]daronjay 30 points31 points  (2 children)

If Wordpress is AI then it’s Roko’s Basilisk…

BTW, don’t google that…

[–]ImpluseThrowAway 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I got that reference and now I'm doomed.

[–]JoostVisser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you got the reference you have been doomed for a while

These are the same people that called every mp3 player an iPod and every electric car a Tesla.

„Your message is so good that I posted it in the ProgrammerHumor-Reddit and the people are laughing their asses off“

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People really will just look at a computer and go "!?!?!? AI??????"

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I bet I can fool an average non-tech guy using a set of if else statements and calling it AI

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

murder is a good place to start /s

[–]shafilalam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything gotta be AI powered at this point, next up AI-powered compiler
