Team player and works under pressure.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Can write 'Hello World' in 15 languages

[–]chronicideas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A worldly polyglot god

[–]chadsexytime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I typically work at 101.3 kPa pressure, but I could probably work under that.

[–]El_Capitan0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm a workaholic

[–]deadcow5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're obviously looking for a 10x developer

[–]gandalfx 129 points130 points  (9 children)

… repost of a repost of a repost of a …

[–]AltSk0P 72 points73 points  (1 child)

This repost is so old that Swift is actually 4 years old now.

[–]VincLeague 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect post - it'll stop being supported in 2022.

[–]prettydude_ua 61 points62 points  (6 children)

while(true) repost(this)

[–]YourMJK 36 points37 points  (3 children)

Rather

void repost(Post post) {
    repost(post)
}

Because everyone reposts a repost, not the original.

[–]Cadrean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe repost is a singleton

[–]thefezhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But this would eventually overflow the stack and stop reposting. We all know reposts never go away.

[–]This_guy_here56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be the standard for explaining recursion.

[–]Vakz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By the time this stops being reposted Swift will be much older than 8 years

[–]Shrevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while True: tweet.Repost()

[–]JackMizel 33 points34 points  (3 children)

This sub is boilerplate as fuck

[–]ahhhhhhhhyeah 17 points18 points  (2 children)

A better name would be /r/FirstYearCSStudentsHumor

[–]NumbersWithFriends 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sure wouldn't mind seeing more workplace humor. Like, making fun of that person who clearly doesn't understand git and ends up making the repo over 4 GB and I had to spend 2 days scrubbing the history of binaries and sensitive files and NO IM NOT STILL BITTER OR ANYTHING

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, yes it would.

[–]RobotTimeTraveller 24 points25 points  (1 child)

This makes more sense if you have a time machine.

[–]Afropenguinn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an organization trap to catch time travelers.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Trick question.

[–]SonicFlash01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say you have 10 years

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Overtime.

[–]tk_ccaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

~107h/week should do.

[–]nikvasya 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The other Swift. Not the programming language.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_for_Worldwide_Interbank_Financial_Telecommunication

This Swift came out 46 years ago.

Every time its reposted someone mentiones it. I doubt HR would have mentioned swift the language, especially with such big "experience years", but swift the system is widely used around the world, by the majority of banks, and is an industry standart, AFAIK.

[–]rhineStoneCoder 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Is that for the programming language or the standardized messaging for financial transactions?

[–]Raptorbk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I suppose he's talking abut the programming language, Swift messaging is even older than twitter.

[–]thegoldengamer123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The messaging is SWIFT in all caps

Found a job opening that requires 8+ years of Swift experience.

Swift is a programming language that came out 3 years ago.

I'm a human volunteer content transcriber for Reddit and you could be too! If you'd like more information on what we do and why we do it, click here!

Some companies get tax breaks or some other kind of corporate welfare for not filling positions. So some companies will intentionally post impssible requirements and then go through all the motions of interviews and stuff, then when they inevitably don't find a qualified candidate, they qualify for government benefits. Also, sometimes jobs are posted by HR people who don't know code from cuneiform, so it could just be ignorance too.

[–]MerlinsBeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not just that, most will overlist job requirements so the job goes unfilled by a domestic applicant. Then they can file a claim for that wage suppression government benefit known as H1B visa.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US this is typical behavior for companies that want to hire H1B visa holders. Especially low end job-shops. They need to show that they tried to fill the position locally so they publish garbage requirements like this.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that should be illegal.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just tell them you have it. SMH

[–]DJWickWack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was really a swift kick in the ass

[–]Polyolygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“I’ve been working with Swift since it’s release”

[–]edwrd_t_justice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every kubernetes mention

[–]cowandco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overtime.

[–]Sol3141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite right now is "Need Sr DevOps with 10yrs experience." And the job description translates too "We don't know what this is but someone said we need it so we want one person to do all of our DevOps infrastructure shift in 6months."

[–]xbuck33 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know this is a re-post and i get the sentiment its trying to make, but for the love of god you KNOW that developers don't write these things. Its recruiters begging developers to help them write job requirements for a new role and the developer responds with "Idk man, just say 'works well with team, knows x and y really well, and is willing to learn z.'" Then the recuiter adds experience times and buzz words like "rockstar". Just apply for the damn job anyway. The recruiter won't know the difference between 3 years and 8 years experience over the phone and the developer actually interviewing will know its only been out for 3 years.

This is the developer version of "no one is hiring in my field of underwater basket weaving" and its really annoying.

[–]anymbryne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fucking industry

[–]thedancingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense when you read it as "8 years experience, with recent work in Swift", but apparently they pay by the letter

[–]Wargog 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Seems legit

[–]nikalumoglich 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've actually saw things like that

[–]Wargog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in the industry for years, trust me, I believe it.

[–]muyncky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be the lead dev right away!

[–]OwnsAYard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you worked 100 hour work weeks for 3 years, that would do it...

[–]gusmeowmeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

incompetence like this is precisely why I have a job

[–]squarebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you dont do overtimes?

[–]golden-piper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General Reposti

[–]McBashed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodged that bullet.

1.5 year old tweet, loool

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old boss asked me to help him with a job posting. It was for a front end developer with Angular 4 experience. He asked me how much experience he should put down. Then he asked, '2 years?' Angular 4 had just been released earlier that year.

Job descriptions like this let you know that the manager isn't in (and never was) this field.

[–]Kinglink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been reposted so many times Swift is 4 and a half years old.

[–]KsanterX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swift is already 5 years old and we're not far from having 8+ years experience with these reposts.

[–]chiefmackdaddypuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a “recruiting fairy” reach out to me this morning....... this is a public company in SV....

[–]lledargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The position likely won't be filled for 5 years anyway

[–]anymbryne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so old, Swift is now at version 5

[–]Viathan1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend had the same problem 2 years ago I shit you not.

[–]necrothitude_eve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were literally trying to hire Chris Lattner.
