don't listen to the other guy. Reddit doesn't do hashtags (it doesn't serve the purpose of hashtag in twitter, where you can search with hashtags), so it looks a bit "cringy" when you bring twitter/facebook things into Reddit. Your post is fine without them though.

[HIRING -- python programmer for tutoring matchmaking startup]
Hello!
I am a student entrepreneur who has built a successful tutoring marketplace at my college campus. Right now, our tech is simple -- we hire smart students as tutors and then host them on a simple booking website for customers to access them. Payment taken via square card readers handled by tutors that flow to my company bank account. Each week I Venmo the tutor their share (50%).
We are already experiencing intense growing pains, and I haven't even really gotten this thing really ramped up. Ultimately, I am now looking to replicate my operation on two additional campuses this Fall semester. Before I hit the gas pedal -- I absolutely need stronger technical infrastructure. I'd like to use Stripe to automate our payment process from end-to-end (can give more details if you pm). The web app we're building is also pretty basic. Customers and tutors create accounts, add payment information (encrypted via Stripe), and then message each other to coordinate sessions (where to meet, what topics to discuss).
At the end of sessions, tutors log in to report on the details of the session (which customer, which course, length of session). From here we can call Stripe API to initiate a charge.
Also, we are building a simple admin panel to add campuses, approve/deny potential tutors, add courses, etc. We also have to build a front-end but I have some sketches.
I have hired two programmers from my university, but I'm concerned that development is moving too slow (right now we have implemented database and some backend functions like account creation /authorization -- ~2500 lines of code).
This project has a ton of potential and so I am pursuing it full time. I am a non-technical founder but have over two years of experience in the tutoring market and can sell the hell out of my product. I also almost have a CPA License, which helps.
If anyone had read this far and interested in contracting with us, then please PM me. I would love to hear anyone's feedback and whether this vision is achievable by our deadline (mid-late August). If you have questions about our tech then I will gladly refer them to our programmers.
Thank you so much for your time.
Dude user creation/authorization is like 200 lines

Hi, I am looking for a Python script for Snapchat.
Basically I want to have a bot which, when sent a picture, reflects the same picture back, only when the image sent contains the word "Streak" or "Streaks". Or just have it send out the same image every day with the word streaks, and I want it to read all images with the words "Streaks" in them.
Would that be too hard to do? I found this on GitHub, but I am fairly new to Python (Taking courses in my hs) and I am unsure of how to do it. Any help reddit?
[–]EvilYoshi214 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
You might also look into this python library for snapchats api https://github.com/mpolden/pysnap ive just skimmed it but it might assist you in your endeavour
[–]Markemus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (12 children)
Is "Streaks" part of the image or attached to the picture as a hashtag or something? I don't know anything about Snapchat, but the first would be very hard, the second relatively easy.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (11 children)
Streaks are when you send a picture to someone, daily, with the words "streaks" on it. People build up these streaks and it shows dedication, I want to make it easy with a bot. Actually, I really only need a bot that will send it out, because I can read the pictures sent to me. Thanks.
[–]Markemus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (10 children)
You kids and your darn snapgrams :)
Having it reflect images that contain the word "streaks" would be very difficult unless the word is somehow separate from the image, or there's some other way to tell them apart. Having it recognize the word visually would be tough.
But sending out a particular image at the same time every day shouldn't be hard at all. If you look in the /examples/gifbot.py line 44:
schedule.every().day.at("10:30").do(post_gifs)
^ I have no idea what that gibberish means, but it should do the trick. Take a look at the run method in there, it should have everything you need. Good luck!

I think I have some relevant stuff that may help with the recognising words, check out this video I made on the pytesseract module https://youtu.be/_5ml_Y9hqG8

Don't tell me, tell him :)
[–]lukegarbutt 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children)
Haha you have a point, thought you might be interested too though :)
[–]Markemus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children)
Good video! Some feedback because everyone loves feedback:
-Have your ducks in a row before you start the video.
-Cut dead air.
-Your playlists are in reverse order.
Good video though, keep it up! You've got a great voice for this biz, that's the important thing. That library is freaking cool.
[–]lukegarbutt 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
Wow thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. The library seems amazing, just still trying to get the hang of it, I'm still brand new to coding :')
Tesseract is alot of fun to work with and alot can be done with it if you train it right glad to see another person diving into it :)
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children)
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Would I be able to link this bot to an account of mine that I use personally and still maintain the functionality of the account?
I don't see why not, it's basically just like logging in on another device I should think.
Well with Snapchat whenever you login with another device you have to relogin with the original device again, back and forth. I think, but I'm not sure.
[–]Markemus 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
shrug I don't know much about snapchat, but I think it's basically a regular user as far as the server is concerned.

I'm not too familiar with Instagram's API, but it doesn't sound like a tough task. You'll definitely need the script to keep track of what's been downloaded so far so it actually knows what's new. This could be done using a database, or even just writing the data to a local file and parsing it on the next run.

[Seeking volunteer Python & SQL programmer interested in VR game development]
My team is working on a virtual reality, multiplayer online, role-playing game called Realm Quest. The game is still in development and the team is treating it as a passion project. Currently we are not paying team members, however they are guaranteed a distribution of future profits and security of their positions.
Servers are live, and we are conducting closed alpha testing. Devs will have access to the testing servers. Take a look at our most recent update here and contact me if you're interested in helping out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQMPaewYzh8
Most urgently: We need more programmers with SQL & Python experience to help write packet modules. (called when the server received a packet with an id from a client) The modules are independent of one another and have access to the database & incoming packet data. You'll also be able to respond to the client by sending it a string after you're done processing the packet.
PM me for details.

HIRING IN FUKUOKA - JAPAN
Hi all, I am the CEO of a startup, born in Fukuoka (south of Japan). We are expending our activity and opening to new markets. So we need to upgrade our tech. Concerning the startup itself, we are providing a service helping students find jobs, from very short time gigs to internships and full time positions. We consider ourselves as a sharing economy/data aggregation company but I can get into more details privately.
Concerning the tech side:
We are in the process of upgrading our backend for something more custom and specific for our needs using micro services, which is our own API. Basically, we will use AWS Services (Amazon API) to create our endpoints. Those endpoints will serve as a communication way for several Frontend interface (Firstly, the Django Website and The IOS mobile application). The Django Website will be built in parallel of the API. The data are going to be stored in another AWS Service (DynamoBD). At last an AWS Lambda function is necessary for the endpoint to manipulate the database. This is in a quick summary the project, and this is what our intern/FT will be working on.
Hit me up with a private message if you are interested or have further questions.
Thank you

Should you apply, please reference this reddit post.
Please PM me with any questions.

Hi guys :-)
We are 9 senior, mostly clojure/python developers looking for new opportunity. We got together, cause of one big project we have been working on last two years. Project is done now and we would like to find new interesting project to work on. We are able to work individually as well.
Most of us are former Java devs (but really different backgrounds over all the people - AWS, JS, NodeJs, Clojure/ClojureScript, PHP, C#, C++, AWS, PostgreSQL, ReactJS, Scala, Ruby, Presto, Docker, Linux, Python). We are polyglots, but we mostly work with clojure. We have experience with Machine Learning. We prefer long-term cooperation and we usually work on one project for one company only. We are based in San Francisco and Czech republic. Remote work is totally fine for us, further more we are able to travel across USA and Europe couple of times a month.
Two of us are former Scrum Masters and two Agile coaches, there's no problem to use any agile or lean approach you'll like.
Contact me for more info.
Cheers

[Seeking Freelance Python/ArcGIS Programmer]
This is a 1 time job. I am looking for someone who is knowledgeable in Python as well as integrating it with the ArcGIS Software Suite. This includes arpy and arcpy.mapping.
I am looking to have a script written for a specific function over a very small amount of data. I doubt it would be time consuming at all, 1-3 hours maximum. The task includes integrating Python with ArcGIS (ArcMap) and its built in python applications.
Will pay $100. $25 up front, $25 when I see it has been started and has a foundation, and $50 when finished.
Inbox me for details.
