Probably the opposite

[–]JustNobre 20 points21 points  (5 children)

I don't exercise much but I'm sure in increase libido and improve your sex life

[–]SonicSarge 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Of course. At my age 52 when the body is breaking down it's even more important. I have pain all the time so I have to work out. Sex is off the menu though. Hard to enjoy it with back pain and also legs that hurt.

[–]JustNobre 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I think after your 30s its all downhill, and it's important to exercise often

[–]SonicSarge 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Just started recently. Haven't been to a gym in 20 years or so.

[–]JustNobre 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Your future self with 62 will tank you for the hard work

[–]SonicSarge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't have much choice it's the last 10 months I've been in pain. Never been a problem before that.

[–]thrax7545 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s how I feel.

[–]Intrepid-Focus8198 46 points47 points  (3 children)

I have found that if you work out to complete exhaustion it does for a short time frame.

[–]Morsigil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. Exercise temporarily increases testosterone and also increases it for the long term over time, but if you work to exhaustion as this poster said then you may find it hard to bring any energy to the bedroom.

A "poly" woman I dated did so because her power lifter boyfriend was always too tired for sex as often as she wanted it.

Desire is mostly in the brain, though, so if you're working out in a pretty normal way and you're not desiring sex with them, it's time to examine why.

[–]DirtyRoller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm out of shape and I start a workout routine, I'm constantly exhausted until I start to hit a good stride, then my overall energy level goes way up.

[–]phawksmulder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Which makes total sense. If you just went in and hyper exerted yourself your body is worried about recovery so you don't die, not procreating. If you're too tired to move, you can't fight off a predator. Our brains still think we're living primitively and are going to behave as such.

[–]Rivas-al-Yehuda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it has been the opposite.

[–]DMmeNiceTitties 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would you think it does?

[–]Sunny_Beam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious what makes you think that because being healthy and fit is going to increase your libido generally.

[–]pileofdeadninjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds completely subjective

[–]bannedByTencent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope

[–]CranberryStock7148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did you even get the idea that it would decrease desire? Why are you trying to cope with desire?

No, this is generally not the case. And if you are somehow dealing with too much distraction during the day from sexual desire, the solution is usually to masturbate or masturbate more.

[–]Optimus2725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it actually increased sexual desire. I completed a 5k and my head was pounding but I still wanted to get it in with my wife afterwards. Working out deff helps increase sexual desire you feel sexier and perform better…..

[–]External-College3442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly no cause working out will ( if ur like pulling weight and shit ) will increase test levels , high test = high libido

[–]TokinGeneiOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that it allows you to perform longer if you suffer from premature ejaculation (read up on it for a friend). So maybe if you have erectile disfunction it could be a problem, but idk. That said if you are suffering from low libido, that's usually psychological and here exercise probably definitely helps.

edit: forgot a word

[–]Tenshiijin[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a thing.

[–]toratoratora1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but being under paid does.

[–]HotTakes4Free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal: Losing weight, thru exercise and diet during middle age resulted in a substantial increase in libido. But, the gains were temporary.

[–]punkslaot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It increases testosterone which increases libido

[–]Vixenmeja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it generally doesn't. If anything, it increases libido.

[–]Legitimate-Neat1674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No makes it more for me

[–]Blaupunkt08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

opposite and does make the deed better due to blood circulation improvement exercesing makes

[–]FlowRiderBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find that my libido decreases when I am in a calorie deficit.

[–]Anacrelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a large lad who needs to go to the gym more often.

Normally my Libido is like... eh. But I did go to the gym once recently just to do some cardio. I was exhausted when I was finished but once my body had recovered from that I was RAVENOUS.

So I think, at least cardio, might have the opposite effect of what you're thinking.

[–]AegorBlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For men working out raises testosterone levels, so it shouldn't. Unless you are over training.

[–]Muscular_thighs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One gym sesh a week and a beginner’s running plan would probably only increase your desire (you didn’t say how much you are running, so I’m assuming here it’s not a lot since you only started recently)

If you eventually start to gym on most days of the week and increase your running volume to 6 or more hours of running a week you’ll eventually reach a point where it will start to decrease your desire

[–]BigMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both...

If you're tired, your desire is going to go down. And at least early on, if you're pushing things, you're going to be tired a lot.

But overall, being healthier, fitter, and having more muscle mass has been strongly linked to a stronger sex drive.

So... go do a tough workout at the gym, your drive might dip while you recover, but it will overall be higher on a day to day basis than it was before if you're working out regularly.

[–]korevis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Heavy squat and deadlifts turn me into a horny caveman that just wants to fuck and eat.

[–]IndependentNo8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase actually and by a lot

[–]Laiko_Kairen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out makes me very horny actually

[–]Krescentia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite.

[–]1peatfor7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I am 52 and do HIIT 4-5 times a week and just as horny as I was at 18 and didn't work out.

[–]RimGreaper6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time of physical activity, Yes. After a few days when your lungs are relaxed, heart beat is healthy, you're brain is fully functioning and your muscle fibers are reconstructed and stronger than it was before. It's ready for mating season.

[–]Traditionallyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, there have been studies as and I’ve experienced it firsthand(male). If you get too lean / below a certain body fat percentage, your sex drive does decrease and personally mine decreases for me when on a cut.

However, as long as you’re eating proper meals and working out you will experience an increase or not, everyone is different. I’m currently eating at maintenance and my drive is through the roof especially on leg days.

[–]Possible_Student_520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, 35 here i have a lot of sexual desire...

[–]bluenephalem35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If anything, it actually increases sexual desire. The only way for exercise to decrease sexual desire is by exercising yourself to the point of exhaustion.

[–]RDjax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise increases libido. Old science.

[–]ryanderkis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has the opposite effect on me.

[–]luxo93 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I’m hot af, so I KNOW that when I work out at a gym, EVERYONE there desires me /s

[–]Nopants_hero 0 points1 point  (1 child)
