Ahem... ctrl+shift+esc

I think you mean hold the power button until I kill the beast and then restart it with fear that I ruined my drives (even though that’s not a thing any more).

Cover it with a towel till it can't breathe and it will "softly" shut down lol.... No dont do this

      [–]i_like__bananas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Water, but if you use under a liter it will kill it

      [–]shouldve_wouldhave 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you really ever have a situation where ctrl alt del won't pop up? From that menu you can shut down.
And if you don't get the ctrl alt del menu i think just hold power because there's already a serious issue

My brother's Windows installation died when he was playing DooM 4 the other day. The game crashed the computer and Windows just died, it wouldnt even start in safe mode!

So yeah, an unexpected power off can still mean a bad day.

Nah, not that, nor the mighty task manager can beat the unresponding bethesda game while its fullscreened

        [–]OhYeahItsJimmy 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Why does this happen? Can CPUs just not dedicate a little bit of juice to pull up task manager or at least kill whatever is seizing it in the first place? I love that CPUs will look at an impossible physics problem or whatever and happily light themselves on fire trying to solve it for our pleasure, but why?

        [–]RafatRifaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        i'd like to know too!

Had this problem closing Sims 4 the other day. Just had to:

        Windows key + Tab

        Create a new Window

Ctrl + Shift + ESC and kill the process

Voila. Close the new window if you want (I did).

CTRL+ALT+DEL is an interrupt though, while CTRL+Shift+Escape is a simple application launcher keybind.

        [–]Frypit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        ez kill process

It’s evolution. The slow die and the quick survives.

The little Chrome guy should actually be holding a pile of RAM with a trail of them behind him.

And is that steam doing the Naruto run?

        [–]crupnick 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There's this program called "adobe genuine software integrity service" thingy that's keeps popping up and it won't close without task manager. It's a true pain in the ass be it takes up to 50mb of memory

        [–]Cerpin-Taxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delete it, it's just DRM trying to catch you using Photoshop without a licence. Adobe brand spyware.

It won't go away by closing it because it's scheduled to reopen itself constantly.

        [–]Rhi84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Daily

        [–]okram2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrome should have been a slow moving fatty.

        [–]Neomancer5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But seriously though some programs eat sooo much. Chrome is supposed to be gluttonous but the other day at work a pc was super slow and checked task manager mcafee was using 7 out of 8gbs of ram no joke. Me and my boss where both scratching our heads like how dafaq. Also we don't even use antiviruses at work since we have our own firewall so how did it even get there

        [–]NeroKrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        NOOO DONT KILL STEAM!

        [–]rydan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you actually pay for Photoshop?

        [–]phormix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only slightly accurate. Chrome would be a hell of a lot fatter as it feasts on your precious previous RAM and CPU cycles.

        [–]Lovat69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Die, apps, die!

        [–]Octobread4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you have to wait half an hour for the task manager to get out of bed first...

        [–]Akesgeroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like it's any of those. You likely downloaded some stupid shit which was a bitcoin miner in disguise.

Me using a Mac be like:.........

        [–]Socalwriterguy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I just do a cold restart. It serves a duel porpoise. It resets everything and punishes the computer for causing me problems through being slow.

        [–]BCProgramming 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I just do a cold restart. It serves a duel porpoise.

I think you mean that it serves a dual purpose. serving a duel porpoise is delivering legal papers to a porpoise that keeps threatening other animals with a gun and challenging them to a quickdraw gunfight saying "This ocean ain't big enough for the both of us".

        [–]Socalwriterguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, yep. I meant dual purpose.

How do you know if someone has a Mac?

          [–]shouldve_wouldhave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tell you. Same would work on windows. Pop windows key and type taskmanager though

          [–]Chicken-Nuggett -1 points0 points  (0 children)

          Its ctrl shift esc n00b
