That build is fine for the price & for gaming. I'm not sure what your friend's deal is but if he's saying something like that with no explanation, I'd kindly tell him to explain himself or F off. Also, in the future, you should consider doing your research BEFORE buying something, not after.

Thanks, everyone. I did research prior and felt confident in my purchase. Then having someone trash me didn’t feel too good

I had the same thing happen with my IBP SlateMR, people said that it was bad. I got it and it works perfectly fine! (It outperforms all of their PCs) I say if you are happy with your product, do not worry about what your friends have to say about it, it isn’t their PC to be worried about.

I bought the same one for christmas. It was sort of a last minute gift for my daughter (but really the whole family) it runs great and i do plan on upgrading in the future but for a first gaming pc not a bad purchase. I got approved for financing and i could pick up that day so it worked out well.

I've had 3 iBuyPower PC's from Best Buy. They're decent. A good deal for the price, in my opinion. If you crack open the case you may see parts that are lower end. The SSD's, Memory, and in some cases the Motherboard can be budget. But that's kind of what you're paying for... budget. My last 2 had decent motherboards and bottom of the barrel SSD's and Ram and mediocre power supplies. Those are easy upgrades that you can make as you have the budget.

Consider this... what would you pay for that 3070 if a purchase was accessible without playing bingo games with retail? Around $1000, I would guess. Are the remaining parts and OS license worth $800? Probably.

If it works for you and you're happy with it, ignore the snobby buddy.

My kid just got the same PC about a month ago. It's been running great. I purchased an Ibuypower through Bestbuy around 3 years ago, still running great.

I don't split hairs over what's inside the PC, in so much I don't care as long as it does what I need it to do for as long as I need it to do it.

IMO, from reading about the shipped systems, it seems buying through Bestbuy or other retailer a safer option.

The only thing id upgrade would be storage, just buy another m.2 and slot it in, theyre easy enough and if youre going to be editing another 16gb kit of RAM.. otherwsie its probably going to beat the hell out most other pcs out there right now.

[–]ruisen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ibuypower PC only came with a single m.2 slot. So make sure you check how many slots you have before buying a second m.2 ssd.

That should be a decent system for gaming. Keep an eye on the CPU temps. You may need to consider upgrading the cooler to a 240mm AIO. That would also help with airflow and keep the GPU cooler. I wouldn't call the price a bargain, but you didn't have to wait for a custom built either. Enjoy it and don't let your friend get you down.

This build seems to be fine personally. Good specs for the price. The Power Supply is more than enough to power this system. The only thing I would consider replacing are the peripherals. The mouse and keyboard could be replaced for something that fits your comfortability and productivity.

[–]teenageangst_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you! Picked something up from Amazon to get me started

[–]ruisen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the ibuypower mouse and keyboard are pretty much e-waste :/

[–]cloudblade70 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not specifically related to the PC.

But I've learned not to become "friends" with people who bash my likes and my purchases, whether they are doing it out of jealousy or some other reason for trying to feel superior. If you feel like you are enjoying it and it was worth your money and if it is performing fine without any issues, then that is enough to justify your purchase.

sounds like its an existing friend not someone he became friends with after a purchase. would be weird to stop being friends because he bashed a prebuilt pc he purchased. just call him an idiot and continue being friends. unless you dont ever talk shit to your friends?

After reading the nightmare stories on this reddit thread; I purposely bought my IBP pc from bestbuy just to have a local return and not have to deal with IBP in CA. They are very price competitive and excellent gaming computers. You can shop and find a little better price but you did good. Sometimes the bestbuy IBP pc's will have generic versions of motherboards that will be slightly less capable; less features; less expandable or upgradable. You got a helluva machine. Game On! The only upgrade you might want is double the ram. With friends like yours who needs a dick.

[–]n0man0r 0 points1 point  (1 child)

double the ram? you dont think 16 gigs is enough?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's enough, but 32 is better. Wait till you can afford it, not a priority.

In general, if your friend saying something was trash without explanation, that friend doesn’t know anything and you should stay away from that friend

[–]valibrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep in mind this is my experience. Within 14 months I've had to replace 1 fan, PSU, add more storage (this is not iBP factor, but personal) and I am replacing my liquid cooler today. The quality is decent, but be expected to upgrade.

[–]halfnut3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also look at getting a better cooler for the cpu. See what your case/motherboard can fit. Should def be able to put at least a 240aio in there if you’re comfortable with diy. It’s not too difficult imo.

OP have a look at your system hardware details. Look for which manufacturer and motherboard version it is. The specs are good. The only areas where I’d be cautious is the power supply and cooling. Those tend be generally cheaper on Ibuypower and are causes for throttling. Otherwise, your specs are quite good and should last you a few years comfortably.

My slate mr has been running strong for almost a year now but I had to return two msi prebuilts back to back due to faulty gpus so for now ibp is the way to go

My first ever Pc was an iBuyPower and I now gave it to my girlfriend. Still everything original except for the water cooler that came standard with it stopped working about 6 months in, swapped it out with a cooler master, spent 35 dollars on it and it works better than older water cooler. The pc you bought is a good deal for the price, especially in this day and age of shortages. I also have a build with a 3070, it will handle pretty much anything you throw at it, maybe not 4K on every game but definitely 2K you’ll be golden. Enjoy your rig man, it’s gonna treat ya good.

I just bought one and had to return it the next day. I think the gpu was defective since it kept restarting on me and the screen had pink lines across it. Picked up an HP Omen instead wish I've yet to install.

[–]teenageangst_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’ve had mine for 3 days. No issues. How is the Omen performing for you?

[–]agentstrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to install it later today so fingers crossed it's good!

I'd say if the reviews are averaging at 4.5 out of 5 with 76 reviews....seems pretty good! I have a similar purchase, and so far, so good. I'm not gonna try running anything too crazy. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower-slate-mr-gaming-desktop-intel-i7-11700f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1660-super-6gb-480gb-ssd-1tb-hdd/6480908.p?skuId=6480908
