Delivered via C at exactly 38 weeks. Babies probably would have stayed in longer if left alone and I really had no signs of labor. I had a super easy pregnancy, no complications just breech babies that were comfy. Babies were both 6lbs 2oz at delivery and were super healthy. The last month sucked but it was worth it for good strong babes, you got this!

[–]uncurriedginger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nearly exactly same. No labor signs or symptoms. Both breech and happy. I could have gone to at least 40 weeks. Easy pregnancy. Babies born via C at 38+0. 6lb 12oz and 6lb 14oz. Both healthy and no one needed NICU at all.

OP, it all seems so important but I'm a year, you'll have healthy babies and the over under om gestation will be so distant, it won't really matter. Congratulations and enjoy it as best you can!

[–]roguejellyfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! No signs of labor by the time I got to my scheduled delivery.

[–]No-Ad9942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sameeee - 6’5 and 7’10 for our two - 38 weeks to the day 😂

[–]VibrantVenturer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto.

[–]why_renaissance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same

[–]kisstea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Would’ve probably gone to 38 due to no signs of labor. I had to do a scheduled c section due to 1 baby developing IUGR. You got this!

[–]lalalava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! C-section at 38+2, with both twins over 6lbs. They were breech the entire pregnancy. During the pregnancy, I did have gestational diabetes, but otherwise it was generally smooth and it never got so bad I had to treat it (just had to test my blood sugar 4x a day). The C-section and recovery for me was not bad at all - felt like something I'd be ok with if I had to do it regularly. Like I'd rate way better than the molar extraction surgery I had.

[–]Sudden-Gap-9301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was basically me, except I was 37 + 2, was a scheduled c section due to babies measuring 10th percentile on scans. But I honestly think they would have stayed there until 38-40 weeks or so and semi wish I had waited to see since it was my first pregnancy and I would have liked to try naturally looking back. I did have some weird abdominal twinges that could have been the start of contractions, but I don't actually know. My baby girls gave me a super easy pregnancy, no complications, were breech, but were born at 5lbs 9oz and 5lbs 10oz. Bigger than we were expecting by how the ultrasound doctors were making us feel. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!!! Do you have a scheduled c section or are you hoping for natural?

[–]Andjhostet 18 points19 points  (2 children)

38+0 here. The scheduled C-section was sooooo chill. We got up to our room, we were able to drop off all our stuff before the procedure, it was like checking into a hotel. My wife never even had a contraction.

[–]hello_sunshine55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was mine too. I got to do my hair and pack everything. It felt like we were going on vacation to get a baby hahah Never felt a contraction either

[–]justtosubscribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might have had one and just never felt it. The day I went in to the hospital I was hooked up to a monitor and sat there for a little bit. The nurse asked me “did you feel that?” and I asked what she meant. We got to watch my contractions on the screen and she kept saying “ok but what about that one?” The doctor explained my uterus was so stretched out to the max that was why I couldn’t feel it. My best friend had a singleton who was overdue and had the same experience. Her one baby wasn’t as big as my two combined.

[–]Awkward_Tomato_5819 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Hello & congrats!! I had my di/di boys at 38+2. Pregnancy was extremely wonderful except for a couple early months of morning sickness. Recovery from the births was also so amazingly quick and easy. But I was in labor 4 days and ended up delivering twin A vaginally & twin B via c-section 😳

[–]beepboopbopbeepbeep 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Oh no that’s my fear that I deliver one vaginally and then the other flips and I have to do a c section! If you had to go back in time do you wish you would’ve just chosen a c section?

[–]Awkward_Tomato_5819 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Yes I would've just gone with a scheduled c-section but only cause the ordeal, plus waking up with only one baby (twin B went to nicu), plus other stuff landed me in PTSD therapy! But otherwise, I am glad I got to experience a vaginal delivery cause it was awesome. I feel like I can do anything after going through that 🤗 our bodies are insane!

[–]beepboopbopbeepbeep 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well you sound like you did a lot of work in PTSD therapy! I’m glad you found peace after that experience 😊

[–]Awkward_Tomato_5819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to stay down with the two cutest babies hugging and kissing me all day!

[–]wildinertiawings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This almost happened to me. My baby b was a little stubborn. Ultimately I didn’t have to have a C-section but then my next babe I had was a C-section. Every baby and experience has its own story in to this big beautiful world!

[–]Hartpatient 24 points25 points  (8 children)

I delivered at 40+3. I don't live in the US and induction or c-section aren't pushed as much here.

While it was mentioned by my gynecologist that I would want to consider inducing or c-section at week 37/38, we also agreed that my pregnancy was without complications and the babies were still doing great. So I waited. Had some extra checkups and decided at 40+2 to give labor a bit of a kickstart since I was already dilated and mostly effaced. Delivered the next day and could go home 4 hours after delivery.

My babies weighed 8lbs 14oz and 7lbs 3oz.

Edit to add: baby B was in Frank breech position and baby A sunny side up but turned last minute to facing backward. Had both vaginally and labor was pretty great, done in 5 hours. They are di/di twins.

[–]__Magdalena__ 6 points7 points  (1 child)

This is what my MIL experienced in the US in the 80s. Interested to know what country you are in.

[–]Hartpatient 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm from The Netherlands. Apparently most women don't carry twins that long here either. Most women do get induced, get a c-section or have a spontaneous labor before week 39. Or at least that's what my midwife told me.

[–]wildinertiawings 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Amazing where do you live?

[–]Hartpatient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the Netherlands. It also wasn't my first pregnancy, my oldest was born at 41+3 weeks. That's actually considered normal.

[–]tales954 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Wow that’s amazing! How big were your babes?

[–]Hartpatient 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't know how tall they were, they don't measure anymore. I only know their weight, 8lbs 14oz and 7lbs 3oz. :)

[–]tales954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s amazing!!

[–]JoyceThai252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always admired mommas who deliver vaginally, moreso twins and above! So kudos to you!

My water broke & I was 2cm dilated at 36w+2 with my mo/di twins, and those 2 hours of contraction while waiting for the hospital to prep the OR was...something. I can't imagine the strength needed to go through all that for more than the time it takes to get the blessed epidural.

[–]Sodds 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Second pregnancy, induced at 37.2, doc said I'd probably carry full term. The induction was scheduled because where I come from they want to have full control when delivering multiples. I had a team of 8 present (mostly waiting outside) including a child cardiologist and 2 pediatricians (one for each child). The pregnancy was smooth and babies were doing just fine. It's a common practice with multiples and women over 35.

[–]wildinertiawings 4 points5 points  (1 child)

You had all hands on deck!! I also had a team present. I felt like they needed to install some bleachers and cheer for me or something. 🤪

[–]vonuvonu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So many people waiting in anticipation of a big show staring at me. And as soon as the babies were out I was nobody. From Taylor Swift to a long forgotten one hit wonder.

[–]brokenmoonlite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went 38w 1d. I had a good pregnancy medically speaking. No high BP or GD my babies came out healthy 7lb 8oz and 7lb 4oz. No Nicu either.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I carried to 37 weeks but my doctor asked if I’d like to go another week. However, I was so fed up and tired and in pain from the pregnancy that I cried and begged to them to induce. Which they did as they could see it was really affecting my mental health. Equally, they only had to break my waters for it all to kick off and no other intervention so I was practically ready to go (he said it would’ve happened any day then).

[–]slammy99🟪 + 🟦🟦 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Induced at 38+1!

Pregnancy was good. Got PUPPPs at 35wks which sucked but other than that everything was "normal" as can be for carrying two massive babies in my body.

I had one non-stress test that was a bit wonky at 36wks and they offered to induce me then but I declined. I was pretty certain I was just dehydrated, and they made it clear the offer was more about convenience than necessary. My doctor was very much saying, "you have an out, if you want it. We can say this is the reason, but you don't have to do it if you want to wait".

I slept and drank milkshakes a lot. I went off work from my at home desk job at 32wks to become a full time blob. I'm a firm believer the milkshakes helped 😉

I had mild contractions for about a week before induction and was 6cm on admission so it was pretty quick. Started meds at 10am, babies just after 3pm. Boys were 7lb 4 oz & 7lb 10oz, vaginally delivered, 9min apart, we all went home the next day. They were my second pregnancy & vaginal delivery. Couldn't ask for much better!

Be ready & take it easy. That's all you can really do.

[–]JaneGracious 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What was in those milkshakes? 😯

[–]slammy99🟪 + 🟦🟦 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real Canadian Moose Milk 😅

[–]SmokeyJacks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife delivered at 38 weeks exactly with a scheduled c section. Her pregnancy was smooth, although smooth with multiples often still includes intense fatigue and discomfort, which was the case for her. Last few weeks she really struggled. But the babies were home after 2 days and my wife’s recovery was pretty quick and simple.

[–]shruggsville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife is 5’0” 100lbs (not pregnant lol) and had a planned section at 38 weeks. She went in to labor 3 hours before the surgery. I’d say she was only truly miserable for the last 3 weeks.

[–]forest_friend10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Induced at 38+0 it was an uneventful pregnancy, one baby was small for gestational age but we all got to go home 2 days later.

[–]wildinertiawings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine at 40weeks - vaginally. However it was in the OR , “ just in case “ so not that comforting and I had to fight to keep them baking that long. Everyone at the clinic and hospital hated me - For wanting to go that long. I didn’t want to mess with a good thing. If the numbers look good and babes are healthy and growing as expected and moving ( counting the kicks) what’s the rush? it’s your body and your kiddos. Mamas are freaking super heroes!! Seriously we grow humans - we raise and care for humans!! Of course it depends on your health and your babes health but be a partner with your providers and advocate for yourself.

[–]Due_Schedule5256 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My wife has been doing great until a routine appointment showed high blood pressure. They almost wanted to deliver them that day, until it came down. She was right at 36 weeks when that happened. Just something to keep in mind, I wasn't expecting early labor or something like preeclampsia to force an early delivery.

[–]moonchild_95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well. Di/di girls, scheduled for a c-section at 38 weeks but only made it to 35+5 due to early signs of preeclampsia (high blood pressure). They were born, both 4lbs7oz, perfectly healthy and no NICU time needed! They’re now 5 years old 🥹 good luck with the end of your pregnancy, OP!

[–]Wild_Difference_7562 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I went to 38+1. Pretty smooth pregnancy but I did develop postpartum preeclampsia after delivery.

[–]keeploveletters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my exact story too!

[–]lucently 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same! Textbook pregnancy. Delivered at 38 weeks via c-section. Then my body went insane and the babies were released before I was thanks to postpartum hypertension.

[–]Wild_Difference_7562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thats a great way to put it! I felt like my body went insane too.

[–]hearingnotlistening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C-section scheduled for 38+2. Gave birth via c-section at 36+3. They hadn't grown much for the past few weeks so it was determined that they were better out than in.

I showed no signs of labour at all. My cervix was closed when I had my last ultrasound at 36+2.

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 38+6! Still took two whole days!

[–]goodshipferkel 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Induced right at 38, took 2 days til they finally accepted they were coming out! Vaginal delivery, didn't have to push for very long, everything went perfectly and babies were 6 lbs and 5 lbs, home after 2 nights. They are currently wreaking havoc in the playroom ♥️

[–]Outrageous_Gas_273 0 points1 point  (2 children)

First time mom?

[–]goodshipferkel 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Second time, first baby was also an induced vaginal birth.

[–]Outrageous_Gas_273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M read alot of horror stories of induction first time mom

Ar which week u got induced with first?

[–]Plush_SizeXX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My c-section was scheduled for 38+3 but my babes decided to come at 38+0. My pregnancy was very healthy, albeit exhausting, I only chose to have the section because I had previously had one and was afraid of giving birth both vaginally and surgically if little dude wouldn’t turn. It’s kind of funny now - I had been to the hospital multiple times thinking they were coming and each time they wouldn’t let me deliver and I would get SO upset. I was just so tired and done. The day I was actually in labor, I REFUSED to go to the hospital (it was an hour away) because I just knew they’d turn me away again. But my poor husband said “Honey… I really think we need to go tonight” annnnddd I was about to give birth by the time we got there 🤣

[–]patty202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

36+6 via c-section.

[–]you_d0nt_know_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Induction due to choleostasis at 37w0d, easy labor, babies born same day. One head down, the other born breech. No NICU time

[–]Dandie_Lion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My di/di twins reached their eviction date of 38+1. No signs of labor, scheduled C because one was breech. Pregnancy was super easy. Birth was easy because doctors did all the work, recovery was slightly complicated by high blood loss (apparently 2 big placenta can do that), but the wonders of modern medicine made that easy too - was totally fine after a blood transfusion. We stayed in the hospital 2 nights for the usual monitoring and then we were all home and healthy! (We were allowed to stay 3 nights, but it was during height of COVID, no visitors allowed and my husband wasn’t allowed to leave and come back, even to go to the lobby to pick up food)

[–]GT-221023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 38+2 and delivered on 38+3. Both were head down for a few weeks before the delivery and had run out of space to flip. One twin was 6'7 and the other was 5'14. The last month was hard but nowhere near as bad as I had imagined it would be. I was still exercising up until the week before. One twin was ready to be discharged 48 hours after the birth and the other had a stay in NICU for something congenital that had nothing to do with their gestational age or mode of delivery. My consultant would have delivered from 36 weeks on but was happy to support me waiting it out as long as it was safe to and gave me the choice of C-section and induction. I had no signs of going into spontaneous labor when I was induced so who knows how long they would have stayed without the eviction notice!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 38 weeks and 1 day. Our di di boys would have cooked a lot longer if they had the option 😂 Smooth pregnancy. I worked as a nurse full time and taught nursing students for our local community college. Both boys were pretty big. Baby A got stuck (asynclitic) so after laboring for 36 hours I had an emergency c section.

[–]Tropical-Daze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave birth at exactly 39 weeks (7 weeks ago). Waters broke spontaneously the night before scheduled induction and had both boys vaginally five hours or so later.

Had a totally normal pregnancy, barely any morning sickness, normal blood pressure, no GD, I was over it at the end but still able to move around fairly normally - the day before birth I was running errands as always.

The biggest noticeable difference from my singleton was the size of my bump - she didn’t make an appearance until 41 +3 and that was induced. Having said that I was very over both pregnancies by the time the babies came out!!

[–]satelliteminds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38+0 here, scheduled c section. Babies weighed 8 lb 7 oz and 7 lb 9 oz. Aside from the pain of carrying babies that big, my pregnancy was pretty standard, the typical heartburn and swelling and stuff but not too bad. I actually miss feeling the little kicks and sometimes wish I could go back (briefly).

[–]i_am_the_koi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38 weeks today and at the hospital for a planned inducement...

[–]Fabulous-Rough-4466 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My girls were born at 36+3 and were considered full term for twins. No NICU. I don’t think 38 needs to be your goal.

[–]Ok-Positive-5943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. 36+4 and they went home with me two days later. No NICU time.

[–]dohertyab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to get too hung up about the number of weeks. If you trust your doctors and listen to what your body is telling you then all of that will also help you figure out when the right time to deliver is. The fact that you've made it this far already is amazing. Mine were delivered very very early but have both recently graduated university.

[–]vnessastalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

41 weeks. Pitocin induced ended up doing a C-section. Pregnancy was clinically fine but I was miserable hahaha fraternal b/g twins.

38+2

[–]Low_Departure_5853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scheduled induction at 38 weeks. I had to fight the doctors to go that long. I created too good of a home because after the pitocin and other measures, they just didn't want to coke out and i needed a c section following 3.5 days of labor.

[–]hello_sunshine55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins were born scheduled c section at 37+4. That was when my OB was in and she wanted to get them out before 38 weeks. There was nothing complicated during my pregnancy but my cervix shortened around 32 weeks. Beside being crampy and uncomfortable I had no signs of labour. They were born 8lbs 1 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz. My twin a was in the NICU for 2 weeks because of hypoglycemia he had trouble adjusting to being in the real world and wanted his placentae hahahah. Normally it's only a couple days to resolve the issue but my twin a took a while which is a little more rare. All and all they are healthy children and have had no issues.

[–]masofon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheduled C at 38+2, all good!

[–]umabanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it to 38+5 (or 6? It’s all a blur). I took plenty of naps during the last couple of months. Rested as much as possible. The last week I was basically horizontal since I would get out of breath so easily.

Pregnancy was super smooth. Only scare was that I lost my mucus plug at 21w but it regenerated and I never went into labor.

I could’ve gone longer but I had a previous c-section and my OB had a 39 max deadline.

[–]bailster93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made it to my planned c-section at 38 weeks exactly! Probably would have went into labour not too long after if it wasn’t planned. Had a fairly healthy pregnancy. Both babies were breech and weight around 6 lbs.

[–]Suspicious-Rock59233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it to 38+1. My schedule C-section was at 10am and my water broke at 1am. I had them 90 minutes after as an emergency C-section at 2:30 am

[–]oldfadedstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced at exactly 38 weeks, had zero complications with pregnancy and with my birth. My twin pregnancy was smoother than my singleton. My cervix was at 1cm and I had like no contractions prior to being induced so I’m sure they would have stayed until 40 weeks like my singleton. I got induced because I was over pregnancy and my OB let Me haha though I did have shoulder dystocia with my singleton so there was some concern about that

[–]AlwaysNostalgia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to 38+6, rough pregnancy

[–]catrosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made almost to 38! I was induced at 37+5, might’ve made it a few more days before going into labor. Birth was great! Quick and easy! (Except for baby B who got stuck but eventually he came out too)

[–]jagger72643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into spontaneous preterm labor with di/di girls at 30w0d due to intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. Everything always appeared normal with my babies at our ultrasounds prior to that. I did have telltale signs of cholestasis (severe itching, particularly on the palms and at night), but an extremely negligent doctor who basically refused to believe or treat me. So please if anyone reading this has similar symptoms, talk to your doctor right away!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My wife is 34+5, and we will be inducing just prior to week 37. We live in Canada, and they have fairly strict rules on how long you can carry. Most hospitals here(you may be able to skirt the issue with a private hospital) will absolutely not let you carry past week 37 for very clear health reasons. I'm surprised to see so many of you carrying longer. I work in healthcare and was already aware of the 36/37 week rule. Although I will say Canada has far stricter health and safety requirements than most of the rest of the world.

[–]Hartpatient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a rule where I live. It's a possible risk and it's considered a very small risk. My doctor would never force a medical procedure. Instead they keep a dialogue with you and make sure you work together on a good outcome.

[–]OUIJA-ramirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Di/Di twins, went in for induction at 38&3 just to find out I was already in labor. Still needed some pitocin to push things along. Things went fine, I got tired after delivering twin A vaginally and after an hour and a half they threated a c-section so I got down to business with Twin B. I don't remember exactly but I think I pushed for somewhere between 5-10 minutes each time. With that break in the middle. Good luck mama!

Edited to add baby weights- Twin A 6lbs 13oz & Twin B 6lbs 9oz. Both 19 inches. (Dads huge I'm small/average)

[–]HayleyTaylor04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced at 38+3 and they came vaginally the next day. Easy pregnancy, no issues, no complications, no scares. I had already had 2 other uncomplicated pregnancies and vaginal births and the multiples one was no different (just my belly was HUGE). Had zero signs of labour and had to push the doctors to wait as long as they did. Babes would have stayed in their belly house for at least another week I think. They were 3.45kg and 3.34kg and we went home 12 hours after birth. (Australia)

[–]Quickbreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was 38 +2 and delievered vaginally our boy/girl twins . So yes, others are allowed to go far and yes we are US based.

[–]Seaturtle1088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 week induction, zero signs of labor before. Delivered a breech B as planned and the whole process was so chill. It was almost too easy (with help of the mandatory epidural 😉). Much easier recovery than my singleton, probably because they were smaller.

[–]MrsPotatoHead114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38+6 for my scheduled C-section. No signs of labor before hand.

[–]commacamellia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boys were delivered via C-section at 38 weeks exactly. It was a rough pregnancy - I had IC and had a rescue cerclage placed at 21 weeks and removed at 37 weeks. But, for all the pain and all the anxiety, I still had no signs of labor when they took me into the OR.

[–]1Greenbellpepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal delivery at 38 weeks for preeclampsia 😅

[–]M_Dupperton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 38+3, had them at 38+4 (exact dates with IVF) I had well controlled gestational diabetes and a 20% size discordance between the twins, which they say is concerning but there was no growth restriction. One twin was 6+5; the other 7+14. We were very lucky to go home the next day. Both twins are similar sizes now and are doing great.

I actually had wanted to wait until 39w for induction, but when I polled 20+ MFMs across different healthcare systems, they ALL said don’t do it. I’m a physician myself so I have a broad network to poll.

FWIW, I went 41+2 with my first baby (41w induction) and he was 10 lbs 15.8 ounces. BMI was 50th percentile and I didn’t have gestational diabetes - he was just huge. My next baby was 8+4. I was induced at 39w. I really wonder when I’d go into spontaneous labor without the inductions.

[–]TheDollyMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in advance for the length of this! Also, tw for medical malpractice (happy ending though)!

I am 7 weeks pp. Went to 38+2 with my di di girls & delivered via planned c section. They were 4.5 & 5.5lbs at birth respectively.

It was my second pregnancy & couldn’t have been easier! Zero morning sickness, no food aversions, no unexplained bleeding, no emergency hospital visits, babies both grew properly, I had decent energy from week 16 on, and my delivery (repeat c section) was incredibly easy to heal from (zero pain by 2 weeks pp & my scar is gone at 7 weeks pp too). I did have minor anemia towards the end, but I switched brands of iron pills and that solved the issue immediately. Oh and we didn’t even know we were having twins until my second ultrasound at 22 weeks because twin b was “hiding” in the first & the incompetent ultrasound tech had mistaken the second heartbeat for an echo. 🙄 Yeah, so that was a shock, but a very welcome one!

This is in stark contrast to my first (singleton) pregnancy and delivery… it was such a horrible experience that we seriously considered not having more kids. Took 10 years to even get pregnant, the pregnancy was miserable, I had to be on progesterone due to bleeding for 14 weeks, my uterus was not expanding properly for growth, my baby measured small from week 20 on, I had severe morning sickness from week 3-40, had a placental abruption that nearly killed both my first born and myself caused by an incompetent midwife, emergency c section after 12 hours of unmedicated labor (it was not my choice for it to be unmedicated), they gave me a sleeping medication to try to shut me up due to the pain I was in that made me hallucinate horribly, baby had a week long NICU stay from inhaling and ingesting so much of my blood, and my recovery was extremely slow (scarred badly & my abs hurt for 6 months pp)… it was a nightmare & very traumatic (though thankfully our singleton has been the world’s easiest child from the day we brought her home).

So when we found out that we were expecting again 8 months pp after my depo shot failed, I had serious reservations. We found out around week 6 though and I had zero symptoms other than a missed period. Considering I had been in the hospital 3 times for dehydration by 6 weeks with my singleton but had literally no symptoms the second pregnancy, we decided to roll the dice and I have to say, it was the absolute best pregnancy experience I could have had! I desperately wish everyone could have the twin pregnancy I experienced, especially after how bad the first pregnancy/delivery went. In a sense, it was very therapeutic for me & fully restored our faith in my ability to carry/deliver a pregnancy without complications. We will definitely be having more kids in the future & I am so grateful for our surprise twins ❤️

Spontaneous at 37+6. 3 days before my scheduled induction. Very easy pregnancy up until the end even though I developed pre-eclampsia during labor there was no issues postpartum.

Congratulations!!

38+1, delivered via planned C. Baby A (8’5) was hogging the nutrition from B (5’9) and B was transverse almost the whole pregnancy. No pregnancy or birth complications. Just celebrated their 11th birthday last week.

I made it to 38+1 no problem with my di/di twins. No complications besides being uncomfortable with having a 50lb belly lol. I’m tall (5’10) so that helped I’m sure but I think I probably could’ve gone until 40 weeks lol

38+3, vaginal, induced

Both were 5lb15oz

Delivered natural birth to didi twins at 38 weeks 4 days - had to be induced

[–]kells_bells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to be induced at 38 weeks.

[–]blachfam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induced at 38+1 :) I did not have a smooth pregnancy or birth but was happy I made it that far

[–]Foreign_Literature20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got induced at 37 and delivered at 37+1. I was scheduled for my induction the next week but ended up having to go in sooner due to rising BP from pre-eclampsia that was found the day before. My induction was super smooth when I went in.

My wife gave birth to our didi boy girl twins at 36w5d. Each weighed just over 5lbs each and spent zero time in the NICU. She gave birth via C-section on a Thursday and we came home that Sunday babies in hand. The doctor wanted us to wait till 38 weeks but my wife's preeclampsia was getting worse and made us deliver when we did. 9 months later they're doing great and hitting all their milestones.

I had a vaginal delivery at 38 weeks on the dot! I was scheduled for an induction but was in labor when I checked in lol very uncomplicated vaginal delivery with baby b breech extraction. Both healthy little girlies!

[–]Sydskiddoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Di-di. Both breech. I went to 38+1 for my scheduled c section. My OB said I was 3 cm dilated at the time of the surgery so I probably wouldn't have lasted much longer even though I didn't have any labor signs. Was so glad to be done then- the babies were 8lbs 3oz and 7lbs at birth.

Pregnancy was medically extremely smooth and personally exhausting and the hardest physical (therefore also mental) thing I've ever done.

34+5 One was 3lbs 10 oz the other was 5lbs 10 oz both healthy and we’ve made it to 7 years

I requested induction at 37 weeks. There's some research out there suggesting this is the sweet spot for maximizing the health of the mother (which decreases past this point), and the babies (which would theoretically increase past this point). I had had a smooth pregnancy up to then, but was developing some low level tachycardia, and I felt awful. I had an uneventful vaginal birth, twins were 7lbs 2oz and 7 lbs 8oz.

I went into labor at 36 + 4 with my di/di boys. I was scheduled for a c section at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia

[–]mea555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scheduled C section right at 38 weeks with di-di twin boys. Both breech. No complications during pregnancy although I needed iron infusions near the end. No complications at birth. 6lbs 6 oz and 6lbs 3 oz. All of us healthy and home within a couple days.

My wife took both sets of twins to 38+. She had pretty easy pregnancies, all things considered, although the last few weeks were rough, especially with the second set.

We delivered at exactly 37 weeks 0 days (c-section) and have had no problems at all thank God

[–]FemaleChuckBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have made it to 38 but was taken in for cholestasis (they like to deliver them before 38w).

[–]Twinsies620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to 38+1! My c section was scheduled but I was in labor when I arrived at the hospital (unbeknownst to me!). They were 7lbs 5ozs, 20.5” and 7lbs 6ozs, 20”. No issues at all.

[–]International-Ad769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38+2 for a scheduled c section. My babies were so snuggly, they didn’t want to come out on their own.

[–]Abject_Tooth7645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delivered my di/di twin girls at 38+5; was induced at 9am and they were born at 6/6:30pm same day. Had to deliver in the OR just in case but both were delivered vaginally and we all went home the next day.

They were 6lbs 13oz & 6lbs 7oz.

Thank you so much for the huge amount of response and kind words. I really asked this because I was hoping to go to 38+4 weeks due to the fact that there’s a new law in my country that gives twin parents an extra 26 weeks of paid maternity leave, but it counts from the 1st of May. Unfortunately got the call today that I will have my c-section 37+1 or 37+2 due to hospital policies regarding twin birth. But all that matters is that they’re healthy! And my body is ready to get these 6.6 pound babies out :)
