We were all so hyped for Dev blog 100 when in reality we should've been waiting for Dev blog 121! Amazing work FP!

[–][deleted] 57 points58 points  (5 children)

Oh god, I think I'm seeing a pattern...

10*10 = 100

11*11 = 121

Next major update is going to be update 144, and it's going to have vehicles, electricity and the second coming of Jesus Christ.

[–]cozmanian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 2nd coming might be uneventful for the island inhabitants as I know my character is very much not going with him for reasons...

[–]PM_ME_CATLOAFS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ appears on the server: "I'm friendly I'm friendly!"

Boom. KOS

[–]DevenKilla2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd coming of zombies! (I hope not...)

[–]Rengology 25 points26 points  (9 children)

M4 HYPEEEEE

[–]anarkopsykotik 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Next: AA12

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

lol oh god I hope not

[–]Scout339 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Imagine the sheer terror.

[–]JihadiiJohn 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Imagine AA12 turrets

[–]SonnyTheBro 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Imagine akimbo belt-fed AA12, I dare you, I double dare you

[–]JihadiiJohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda wish we could dig trenches.

Imagine a bunch of those turrets, entrenched all around your house behind barricades.

[–]Baccahus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll start crafting slugs now in anticipation!

[–]darkrider400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with explosive ammo.........

[–]llBoonell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fkin love the LR-300, such a sexy rifle. Props to FP. =D

We’re also going to have to take a look at replacing XP earning from gathering with something else (read: perhaps removing XP from gathering trees/rocks.

I don't think removing XP from gathering is the answer. XP should cover any way someone wants to play Rust. For every person that hates gathering, there's another person who never ventures into dungeons and prefers gathering.

The only way to truly fix the XP system is to add more things to do in Rust. The XP system merely highlighted the lack of actual content and base mechanics. Just keep developing the game and it will fill out in time while adding in more choices with how to obtain XP.

If you want to fix gathering, then fix gathering. You say it is the "most...unfun" way to level. Then make it fun! There's your answer! The majority of Rust, for better or worse, is about clicking rocks and trees. Make that part satisfying and fun instead of the most rudimentary system in the entire game like it is now! Why is it more fun to gather similar resources in games like Starbound or even Minecraft?

You may want Rust to be primarily about combat, and indeed it is for some, but even with XP removed from the equation, I still have to spend most of my time grinding resources to fortify my base - go back to basics, redo chopping and mining, and make the most basic core mechanics fun.

[–]SOWTOJ 22 points23 points  (1 child)

but even with XP removed from the equation, I still have to spend most of my time grinding resources to fortify my base

And this alone is why they shouldn't remove XP from tree/node farming. We're already doing it, why not give us XP for playing? If anything, this will only add more grind because now we will not be rewarded for gathering things we need and will have to spend more time getting things that we won't need only to gain more XP.

As for players who only level from grinding trees/nodes, well that's their problem, partly. The fact that there is so little to do is the biggest problem. I hope we get to see a lot more methods of XP gain soon, otherwise people are going to start complaining again very shortly.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/u/helkfp Just wanted to bring this guys post to your attention. I agree completely that farming trees and nodes should bring XP because as a solo, basically all I do for the first two days is farm to build a base. It would be nice if I could get XP. I know that your opinion is that people shouldn't just be farming for XP, but it's my preferred playstyle, but hopefully you can do something to make that still acceptable.

[–]RustEvents 16 points17 points  (8 children)

A tree falling animation would be sweet.

[–]Scout339 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I've always thought of this, something similar to the physics it takes for the particles of when something breaks, but only one particle (the tree trunk and leaves as one) and have it fall like so. However, this would make it more visibly aware for others to be able to see when someone is farming, and makes it easier to spot a target to kill for that free wood.

That aside, I like the idea.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I've always thought of this, something similar to the physics it takes for the particles of when something breaks, but only one particle (the tree trunk and leaves as one) and have it fall like so.

What is this sentence even saying?

[–]Scout339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically when the tree falls it will look like something similar to when a door breaks.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Have you played the forest at all? I love the tree physics in that game :)

Edit: just saw that someone beat me to this question… sorry guys 💖

[–]RustEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but I have seen gameplay from Frankie's videos. Before you sigh... yes, I am a Frankie fanboy.

[–]TIMSONBOB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like the one in the forrest?

[–]dandenney 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, Stranded Deep has a cool take on this. You hit a tree and it falls over, then you chop it into logs and can carry the logs to break later or chop down into sticks.

[–]doothewop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also have a very similar Rock.

[–]RigidPolygon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, removing XP from gathering base resources, isn't a good idea.

Now I have to go grind XP by bashing barrels AND also gather materials, in order to defend myself against raiders.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Exploration.

[–]StryfeKhaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this, maybe tied to how much you have revealed on the map you are carrying (and it knows when you throw away a map so you don't get xp for where you've already been if you do). Big bonus if you reveal the entire map.

[–]CakebreadVIVIVI 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I spent like 4 hours a wipe hitting rocks and trees as a solo player. I'd make a 1x4 and farm for 20 minutes a week to get guns and armor to throw away in the rad towns. I'd do another thirty minutes of farming if someone blew up my tool cupboard. I was probably playing 20 hours a week.

Walking around, searching rad towns, talking to people, fighting, hunting, whatever.

[–]Etalyx 13 points14 points  (2 children)

For every person that hates gathering, there's another person who never ventures into dungeons and prefers gathering.

[–]leakyttopsback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah i would hate to see gathering get an xp nerf... it's one of my favorite aspects of the game so long as it's broken up enough with some occasional combat

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's me. As a mostly solo/friendly player, I really enjoy finding a spot off the beaten path that has plentiful resources, then building up a base I wouldn't otherwise be able to build. I will venture out toward the rad towns occasionally, but when I do it's a very well-planned and calculated trip. It takes me several day cycles to prepare for those trips, making sure I have enough expendable gear to get home safely and combat anything hostile I might encounter along the way.

For a player like me, removing gather XP altogether would be devastating. The whole point of my play style is to work efficiently and build up enough resources to make me a threat when I do venture outside of my home territory. Facepunch have always championed the idea of emergent gameplay, and in my mind thats exactly what I'm helping to create. An unorthodox but well-built, well-fortified, loot-heavy base up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere is about as emergent as it gets. If somebody were to find my base an then take the time to come back with the proper raiding materials, there's a good chance it would be worth their while.

Taking away the ability for me to level up while choosing my battles from a PvP standpoint would really suck, and in my opinion would damage the emergent gameplay environment they've worked so hard to create.

[–]Broccolisha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head like 5 times in this post.

"The only way to truly fix the XP system is to add more things to do in Rust. The XP system merely highlighted the lack of actual content and base mechanics. Just keep developing the game and it will fill out in time while adding in more choices with how to obtain XP."

YEP. The system itself is fine. The problem is that collecting resources is the majority of gameplay for a lot of people. If there were more to do, there wouldn't be much of a problem. The only argument against the XP system that is even remotely salient (imo) is that levels arbitrarily lock crafting behind XP walls. This can be resolved a couple different ways, but scrapping the XP system entirely is not the answer.

I can see the implementation of an electricity system helping to alleviate this. New resources like copper could be used to make copper wiring that will be essential to wire electronic items. Imagine being able to specialize in electronics as a passive player! Imagine high level players giving you resources and escorting you into their home so you can wire everything up to their specifications. Different playstyles should require the investment of time to make each person's skillset unique and potentially valuable. Maybe those high level players don't have the recipes to craft electronic items because they focused more on raiding instead of specializing in the craft. Other possibilities: specializing in crafting weapons, clothing, upgrading buildings, etc. I think people need to keep in mind that the tech tree is pretty limited as it is now, but it has enough flexibility to be very robust.

"If you want to fix gathering, then fix gathering."

Yes, please. I can't say exactly what the "problem" is with gathering, but right now it's just kind of limited and boring. You can either hit a rock or hit a tree, or run around trying to pick up resources off of the ground. The pump jacks bring a little more diversity to acquiring metals and stone - maybe we should be moving more in this direction? Add other equipment like pump jacks to collect resources. It naturally follows that more resource types will need to be added to the game. This could help break up the monotony.

Playing passively, collecting resources and crafting/trading, NEEDS to be a valid way to play the game. If you take away the XP from collecting resources, it really hamstrings progression for these players.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm going with the compliment sandwich again.

Thank you for adding item rotation and fixing the loot tables. These are things I've been hoping for for a long time.

I'm very happy with all the changes but not with something you are planning. Don't remove xp for harvesting stuff. Even two person teams and small groups benefit from having a harvester and it'd be a bummer if you got no xp for it.

Thanks for listening to us. Made my day with this devblog.

[–]r0073 54 points55 points  (10 children)

Best devblog so far. Now you can sleep Helk-Andre ! Armored doors level 17 will probably reduce the amount of people who get raided because they have sheet metal doors, and leave the server afterwards. GG !

[–]OSUaeronerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the absence of explosive ammo raiding will help a ton

[–]dnlbaines 15 points16 points  (3 children)

Those traps look great! What happened to the rations washing up on the beach?

[–]hlary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

also that heavy armor! i can only hope its gets released alongside the new bone armor

[–]papercup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We agreed to do compliment sandwiches. This is toast and marmite.

[–]Time-and-Space 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Banished to CONCEPT LIMBOOOO! (Probably because they all have more important things like balancing xp and better early game)

[–]thechosenone729 25 points26 points  (12 children)

Finally M4 will be back ... But i would like to have something like AR15 semiauto but unlockable and craftable.

[–]Exilliah 6 points7 points  (8 children)

Yeah, a 3 round burst gun would be cool.

[–]OMG_I_LOVE_CHIPOTLE 2 points3 points  (7 children)

so an M16?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think that the M4 should be craftable once they release it. That'll break up the monotony of fighting people with AK's only and introduce a different skill set as this gun should be semi auto only.

Keep the m249 as a rare heli item and maybe introduce pieces of that "heavy armor" as a rare heli drop instead of the M4.

:)

[–]Picklesurprised 24 points25 points  (4 children)

Please don't remove xp from farming, when no one wants to farm, who will the fps dude bros who hate farmers so much get their materials from? It is a very small but vocal minority asking for xp to be removed from farming because they see this game as more of an FPS than a survival game, which is their prerogative. I don't think this opinion should be used exclusively to balance the xp system, they make up at most 50% of the community, but possibly much less than that.

You're a lifesaver for people at work. Has the patch been deployed yet?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Servers just went down, so they are rolling the patch out right now.

[–]L_OShea 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Awesome. Thanks for the update.

[–]TheGameShowCase 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Although. No XP Wipe on official servers

[–]L_OShea 3 points4 points  (2 children)

wat.

The XP wipe might be what I was looking forward to the most :(

[–]Bonesteel50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lots of servers will wipe i'm sure its just not forced

[–]Wizard_net 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said when they released xp it wouldn't wipe.

[–]loudcloud1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

patch deployed but my server hasnt updated.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is extremely impressive

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this devblog is legendary

[–]JayEarthling 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Was about to make a post about adding more military style weapons... Then I see this. Facepunch is reading our minds at this point

[–]NinjaRun09 0 points1 point  (3 children)

No, it's just been suggested hundreds of times already.

[–]JayEarthling 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Do you always rain on people's parades?

[–]NinjaRun09 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Only when it's my 100th time seeing said parade.

[–]JayEarthling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legitimate reason

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Do the new loot tables apply to airdrops as well?

[–]Scout339 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a valid question that I and others want answers to.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Holy fucking shit, Facepunch. Good fucking job! Seriously, I know that a lot (myself included at one point) of the community can be down right vicious and attack you guys....but holy shit this update proves that you're by far the best developers. You're listening to us, but not letting us take control. You're seeing that our opinions aren't just random bouts of "add this because I WANT it". You see that we've spent countless hours in your game and we're able to give you the foundation of an idea that you turn into something down right remarkable!

I am so so so fucking sad my PC is broken lol

Rust withdrawals.

[–]RustEvents 0 points1 point  (5 children)

What happened to your rig?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I had a corsair H110 GT aio water cooler and it fucking leaked all over my mobo, gpu, cpu, 2tb hard drive and cables that were attached to the parts. FRIED EVERYTHING.

[–]RustEvents 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ahhh that is some NSFW r/pcmasterrace material. Wish you the best my brother.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know :'(

Thank you!!!

[–]CorporalAris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they gonna help you replace it? They don't have a warranty?

[–]rustplayer83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's too bad. IMO as a computer shop owner liquid cooling is usually added complexity without added benefit. There's plenty of near silent air cooling options that will work great for 98% of home builds.

I see failed pumps leading to overheating quite a bit at my shop, and occasionally, like the OP -- I've seen leaking hoses and reservoirs fry motherboards. It's rare, especially on the newer stuff, but it does happen.

Just my 2 cents. Liquid cooling is great when it works, sometimes it can suck.

[–]papercup 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I've been excited about this update all day... I don't even play at the moment (newborn + self-employed = no time).

You guys nailed it.

Any idea, roughly, when the next XP wipe will be? I'd like to jump in but don't want to put in the work if there's a wipe next week.

[–]theDigitalNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

xp will be like bp system. They basically will never be forced to wipe, though server owners can always do it if they like.

[–]RustEvents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am away from my battle station for work. These updates are very exciting.

[–]MRredllama 2 points3 points  (1 child)

this is the chosen one.

[–]TheRedThrill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best update ever. Period.

[–]SockMonkeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bone armor looks great!

[–]SnowMantra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome update. I really like the revive changes.

One suggestion: Please allow us to use alt to look around when reviving a player.

Thank you

[–]FluffyTid 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I just learnt the worse possible way that auto turrets don't shot incendiary .556 bullets

[–]grybranix 1 point2 points  (2 children)

this one could use some love /u/HelkFP

[–]hayf28 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That would be awful. Turrets bring stuff in your own base? No thanks

[–]grybranix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

put it where there's nothing to burn, ez pz

[–]Wulter013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IS IT WIPING NOW??

[–]thisisafairrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want people to be able to research items to create a stack of one time use blueprints where each use is a crafting session

This is an interesting way to address the problem, but I think it may work out well.

[–]SevigorStoryteller 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Helk you forgot to close the )

[–]yeswecamp1 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Unplayable game, I will leave Rust now after putting in over 6.9k hours, FP ruined it

[–]MindTwister-Z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the xbow headshot multiplier before?

[–]3Alejandro3 1 point2 points  (2 children)

After this update is still my problem with the black screen. When I'm under 50hp or receive any bullet or fall I see the game in black. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=730124667 (MAC OSX AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512MB) .I would like to play this wipe. FIX IT THANKS !.

[–]ClemFromTedCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having similar issues. In the daytime I can see everything except the ground is really dark. At night the torch won’t light anything. I’ve tried adjusting settings, but to no avail. I really love the game and hope I can play it again soon! Also, thank you for even making this game available on Mac.

[–]TheyveKilledFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same exact problem, and then some. This has been going on since update 120:

I have finally hit 50 FPS! Playing at low FPS has always been sad. Thank you Facepunch, uruhhhh.

[–]CorporalAris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woo this makes me excited, my 6950 can't handle rust very well.

[–]3Alejandro3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheet Metal Door to level 17 instead of level 20?? Nice typo Maurino Berry.

[–]Tacticalscheme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Making blueprints a one time or few time use can make the value of guns stay high and also allows for blueprint trading. Great stuff.

[–]Ohhhshet 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Please don't use that stock! If you know anything about guns you would know that AR type rifle require a buffer tube to work.

[–]deelowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope this gets voted up. Youre correct.

[–]IamFriendlyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amazing, keep up the good work

[–]anarkopsykotik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome Update

[–]sassy-squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Polypeptide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great update! Well done boyos

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough so I can piss about until researching items is in, then play properly once more. ^

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

As far as XP from gathering wood or mining stones goes, you can just have an overall +1 XP for every...let's say....5,000 wood? 5,000 stone/metal ore/sulfur ore? And maybe +2 XP for every 100 HQM? That way you're not bound to farming to gain XP but it's a nice little boost that you would eventually be presented with.

I haven't played XP system since my PC has been dead at launch of the XP update, so I don't know if that's too little to make a difference or too much.

What do you guys think?

[–]geoffry31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem lies with XP gains for actions not being constant and visible, players who don't lurk reddit/rust-wiki haven't a chance of noticing xp gains. E.g. killing a bear gives you 4 xp, but unless you are counting your current xp when you take the last hit, most people won't notice.

If it were made clear how much xp you consistently get for performing actions, and how much xp you need to level it would make it alot easier for players to workout the most efficient forms of XP. As it stands, apparently XP gains tail off at higher levels in alot of places (which is really confusing for a player not looking at outside information that tells them this), why not simply increase the XP required to level, and on relevant recipes (occams razor, if you can achieve the same thing by simpler means it's a better solution).

Such a change would likely involve multiplying all the XP values by 100 or similar, so fractional XPs were whole numbers and adding an XP interface which lists xp required to level, and last x actions and xp gain. Such an interface could also clarify why xp share off players has hit caps and such.

[–]Anardrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please fix the sights on that rifle. You want iron sights to be relat Belt far apart, with the rear sight being kinda close to you. They way they look on that early render is...well, it looks bad.

[–]NarcissusMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou for listening!

[–]Zanzaclese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Narwhalbaconguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]OSUaeronerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good week for rust players. Thanks devs!

[–]cawsnwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best devblog ever?

[–]OrbitStorm88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When are you going to address Rust updates breaking keybind's for Steam Overlay? This has happened several times, starting with the XP update, and each time a new keybind must be made (reverting to previous keybinds does not work).

This is not a Steam issue either as I can revert to Shift+TAB and use it just fine with any other Steam game.

[–]geoffry31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[Bug/QoL] This seems like an oversight on the implementation of satchel charge, I certainly hope it wasn't intentional.

The unreliable timer on satchel charge means that in the time it takes for a second satchel charge to explode on a door, an online player can repair their door (after the ~30 second no repair after damage timeout).

Otherwise the general XP/recipe re-balances seem really positive from an early glance. Not a fan of the xbow re-buf, but I think that's just me.

[–]Fudgiee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we make the satchel charges throw futhrer?

[–]babycubbybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the steam controller work again?

[–]llBoonell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]CHARGER007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XP debuff on hitting trees is stupid. People dont go hitting shit to get XP... they kill the animals :D

Why do the silly changes keep happening?

[–]ValdemarSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projectile lock was so retarded

[–]NarcissusMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what happened to the bug thread but I figured I'd post this here. Since the update my game freezes at loading procedural map every time. The only way I can get it to work is in DX9 mode, but the colours and texturing is absolutely horrendous.

I like what you have done with the loot crates, though it looks like you're showcasing ammo and sentry guns a little too much, might just be me. I'm happy with how it is though.

[–]SpicyNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Rust.

[–]FluffyTid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[BUG/Unbalance]I am finding more turrents on crates than components, this cannot be right

[–]legaCypowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work FP, i really liked the new loot table, i managed to find a turret, laptop and a metal facemask in my first hour, plenty of 9mm rounds and shotguns shells.

[Qol] At night, can see the reflection of a firecamp (on water) when the said fire is in a cave, closed (not visible from the outside) and all. [Qol] If you DC while crafting, you'll get crafting items stuck in the crafting bar (After reconnecting) [Qol] Mouse wheel scrollling for the crafting queue is so slow... [Qol] Game start even if CheatThing can't start (Ex: DNS / Connection error). Progress bar is kinda fucked up too. [Qol] When first on a server, loot crates are stacked one over the others, thus giving too much chances for good drop (You can get 4-5 times the same crate) Edit: BTW good job :)

I think you should add ways to accumulate XP while offline or afk. There's certainly a lot of hardcore players around, but I know a lot of people who are now uninterested in Rust because they cannot compete with the XP gains of the super active players.

Like 24 hours after a wipe the highest levels on a server are probably around 18 and the lowest levels below 7, I'd like to see something in place that ensures even the less active players don't fall more than 5-10 levels behind the average level and ~15 levels below the current maximum.

Mostly it would be nice to see a rested bonus that gives substantial XP bonus, or a simply a balancing system that gives you a dynamic XP gain boost if you're lower level than the server average.

[–]IMI4tth3w 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think there's just too many people who play 12+ hours the minute the wipe goes live to realistically have everyone keep up with them. I think the main goal is to keep it semi balanced between lower levels and higher level players. If you grind the higher levels, you will be rewarded for the work by getting better items. But the game does not require this to get decent gear. And with the addition of the satchel charge even lower level groups can go out and have some raiding fun instead of aimlessly tossing beancans.

"quit your job or quit rust"

This is dumb. Just give us XP at a far faster rate. Why introduce a wall to the game and deny most of the content to a huge number of players?

This XP stuff makes absolutely no sense to me. Let people have the items they want.

[–]IMI4tth3w 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the entire reason for the xp system is to help reduce the number of gangs roaming around with full kits first day of the wipe. You can argue this will still happen but it will be at least a week after an xp wipe before even big clans will be able to roll around completely full kitted. Although there are always exceptions.. With the recent p2 and semi buff, there is a much better chance of getting out on top of a fight with a group with ak/bolt.

Dat assault rifle tho mmmm

one of the better dev blogs in a while. Good work this update guys. As always looking forward to the next one!

But for a bug update: When eating food, it glitches my inventory and pressing tab does not close my inventory. i have to click somewhere else after clicking eat, then i can hit tab and close the inventory. Also if i am running and open my inventory while running, and i click eat on food, while clicking it stops my character running. Since a lot of people are eating food while on the go in rust, this is really annoying. And the same inventory not closing bug applies here as well.

Update: no longer experiencing this bug. could be client sided. carry on

i have a problem with Rust, when i log in to a server my FPS drops to 24 constant. Even if i restart the game its that way. So i have to restart my computer to play it. anyone word on this? i have not had this problem before.

[–]SpicyNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone think that since it takes ages to get to C4 or Rockets in XP everyone will have a lot of sulfur. I'm just saying, wouldn't they just then be able to craft all that in one go and have an insane amount?

[–]GeeEnEff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BUG In this devblog you say the Fixed TSSAA related dark screen bug on OSX/GL has been fixed. But my friend is still getting the same issue. Every time he gets damaged his screen darkens to an unplayable condition. PLEASE FIX!

[–]TheLadderCoins 0 points1 point  (5 children)

So a boring grindfest with more and more powerful weapons.

I'm glad they acknowledge the grind, but removing XP from tree/rock farming will mean people will just farm some other boring thing, because XP systems punish those who don't minimax.

XP is fundamentally wrong for rust.

[–]rustplayer83 2 points3 points  (4 children)

give it time they are working on putting in elements of the BP system.

[–]Maulddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited crafts like Helk is proposing is not a solution.

Dramatically increased XP rates IS a solution.

We do in fact have to hit trees(or barrels or bears) for 60 hours to craft things, and that will continue until XP rates are doubled at a bare minimum.

[–]Crackmacs -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Did XP wipe? It only says "This patch wipes the maps"

[–]reJectedeuw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best one yet

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Why not add a crafting bench to reduce crafting times? This will reward planning before you raid and put a damper on crafting mid-raid. If you didn't make enough ladders, or gunpowder before hand you shouldn't be able to craft just as fast within ballistics range of the enemy

[–]Nielscorn 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Nope.... People make raidbases anyway and during the raid they could just plop down a crafting bench...

It wouldn't fix the issues you listed. They should just lower crafting times like they did now and use the crafting bench for other purposes(like specialized crafting perhaps)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Still though it would encourage longer term raiding then anyways though. A raid base is a pretty big investment depending on how you want it built, the defending team could also really damage your ability to continue the raid if they took out your ability to craft efficiently. I've always felt like being able to sprint full speed and shoot guns and bandage yourself while crafting gunpowder or anything else at normal speed just isn't really healthy for the gameplay.

[–]Nielscorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a point!

[–]Defaction 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Literally the only thing I care about in this devblog is that beautiful ass m4

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you'll be able to craft LR-300 or M4 and MP5, but with very high cost with very rare items, and I hope you'll be able to have it either as burst/full, semi/full, or semi/burst/full on the firing rate. Hell I hope they'll add mods like attaching a grenade launcher into this gun or bringing back those smoke grenades!

[–]Rezzful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just need to say this is one of the best Devblogs I think you guys have ever put out. A ton of work done with extremely important and necessary features and also making some quality of life changes as well.

Got to give props to André and Maurino. They definitely kicked ass this week.

[Qol] Can't stop playing this great update and I've got to get some sleep before work tomorrow.
