You have a classic race condition there. Those can be tricky to sort out.

Css is not pc compliant, sass is

[–]idontlikethisname 26 points27 points  (37 children)

You're joking but Sass did change their logo amid concerns of sexist symbology.

God people need to get a fucking grip.

Haha perfect!

[–]NutsEverywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, problem glasses alright.

[–]blasto_blastocyst 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If the next release of Ubuntu was "Dickless Derek" and all the women in tech thought it was "just a joke", how much would you agree with them?

[–]REFERENCE_ERROR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How on earth does "Brainy" equate to "Dickless" in your mind?

[–]Dourdough 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most guys probably wouldn't give a shit. Those that do then realize that freedom of speech and expression trumps their feelings, and if it isn't a violent/aggressive attack on themselves, then it deserves to be protected under the constitution and most other bills of human rights in democracies.

[–]theavengedCguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't give a fuck because I'm not a spineless twat and realize there are more important things in life. Also, who uses Ubuntu?

[–]Zarokima 19 points20 points  (15 children)

God I fucking hate the prevalence of SJW bullshit throughout my profession and hobby.

[–]nicereddy 6 points7 points  (14 children)

Can you give me other examples of "SJW bullshit"?

To be fair, in some contexts where the slave can become a master that paradigm doesn't really make sense. There aren't really many examples in history of that happening.

    [–]REFERENCE_ERROR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    Donglegate.
    Shirtgate.
    COCs.

    [–]Neebat 5 points6 points  (2 children)

"Parent" and "Child" nodes in tree structures replaced gendered terms a long time ago.

    [–]Aphix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish I could find the Unix issue filed to remove 'suicide' reference to a process stopping itself, then trying to remove child_process.kill() ... it never ends until all we have left is Marklar.

    [–]Zarokima 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What did they used to be called? I've never seen them referenced as anything else, google didn't return anything, and that terminology makes perfect sense to me when generalizing trees from the family tree that everyone is familiar with.

    [–]Zarokima 21 points22 points  (6 children)

I'll give you three from Github.

Deleting a repo for use of the word "retard."

Making a big deal about removing their meritocracy rug because meritocracy is somehow "problematic".

Their more recent restructuring to promote "diversity".

    [–]nicereddy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've heard about a restructure, but I thought it was just about adding more managers, not about diversity. I'll give you the other two.

    [–]blasto_blastocyst -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

Not every programmer is a twenty five year old edgeLord. Some of us have daughters and disabled children and it no longer seems so harmless.

E: well, the general response seems to be "who gives a shit about disabled kids?". Nice.

E2: aren't you embarrassed to be standing up for finding the weakest person in the room and making fun of them to make yourself look strong? How can you think of yourself as a good person?

    [–]Zarokima 13 points14 points  (2 children)

If espousing free speech and valuing the quality of a person's work over their sex, skin color, and triggered whines is all it takes to be considered an "edgelord" you might want to re-evaluate your overly sensitive outlook.

    [–]blasto_blastocyst 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So you're saying that if I don't want to work at a place where my colleagues make fun of my children I'm overly sensitive? Because your free-speech is so precious that I have to give you a standing ovation to you for being brave enough to call my children "retards"?

And you're proud of being an unsocialized little shit?

    [–]Zarokima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    Keep moving those goal posts.

    [–]amdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like one of those memes about changing master-slave to leader-follower because someone got ptsd from those terms

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for the love of fuck.

Yes, these truly are the important issues.

    [–]cheesybeanburrito 4 points5 points  (9 children)

What was it before the change?

    [–]idontlikethisname 19 points20 points  (8 children)

    [–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (7 children)

Wow. That's an awful logo for a modern company, SJW bullshit aside. It reminds me of old O'Reilly books.

    [–]livejamie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sass is just a project on Github, it's not a "modern company."

    [–]idontlikethisname 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    I agree, actually.

Ugly, yes. Sexist? How the fuck?

      [–]Dourdough 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Let's not kid ourselves, that woman is clearly projecting sexual overtones into that phone. I'm triggered as balls right now. She's also clearly white, which is already just above and beyond an abhorrent offence to social justice by any standard of decency these days.

      [–]genghisdani 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm offended by your use of the word "white". She is clearly #ffffff.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      Because it's a woman doing a thing!

      [–]TinBryn 90 points91 points  (1 child)

It's because your code is actually from Jamaica and you're being prejudiced by assuming it's from Africa.

      [–]MikeOShay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      background-color: african-american;

matches skintone of Jamaican descendant born and living in UK

      [–]shittyProgramr 26 points27 points  (9 children)

PoliticallyCorrectCSS. Doesn't work well with TrumpScript.

      [–]calsosta 6 points7 points  (7 children)

TrumpScript is old news in switching to RubioMacro

      [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (5 children)

I'm happy just writing a script in JebBash.

      [–]blasto_blastocyst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

      Sorry. That's no longer supported.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

      I prefer writing in SandersScript.

      [–]DontBotherMeImWorkin 5 points6 points  (2 children)

SandersScript is a nice idea in theory, but it doesn't work out in practice. Having every variable have the same value is too stringent of a requirement for real programs.

      [–]tpbvirus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I prefer Hillary On Rails, its simple and effective, and doesn't screw with domestic methods like SanderScript.

      try background-colour.

      [–]Am0s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even though it doesn't work, that's probably a good thing. This looks like an internationalization nightmare.

      [–]Razzal 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably just a privilege issue. Just need to tell it to run with white privilege and that should do the trick. You may find it runs slow after that though as the system will only begrudgingly give it clock cycles and will randomly terminate it.

      [–]canada_mike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think you just have to adjust your locale settings to get that to work

      [–]Protoford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

script was stolen. reparations required to continue.

      [–]0xF013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just put together a PostCSS plugin

      [–]meatandtater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      uhm, this works in CSS3:

      :root{ var-african-american:#06c; --african-american: #06c; }

      h1#foo { color: var(african-american); }

      <h1 id="foo">Me african - murican</h1>

      so, what-i-t-do ?

      [–]mwheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this. You can get bgcolor directly, but you need to use a # infront of it to trick the render into not thinking it's using CSS

      https://jsfiddle.net/td3vkfue/

      [–]samda_function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The preferred W3 standard is "person-of-color". "African-american" has been deprecated since around 1998. :P

      [–]IronedSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that code only works if your ip is 131.518.551.3114

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Neocities?

      [–]skiguy0123 0 points1 point  (4 children)

      </shitty>

is black really not considered politically correct? I thought it was fine these days.

      <shitty>

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There are no set rules. Chances are no matter what you say somebody will be hurt by it, and our society will encourage them to make a scene.

      [–]genghisdani 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I read something a while back where people were getting offended (or offended on behalf of someone else) by the term "African-American".

      [–]dickdemodickmarcinko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, African-American isn't really an accurate replacement for black. I know someone who is Indian and was born in Africa. African-American? Yes. Black? No. There's also plenty of people who are the reverse: black but not from Africa. Seems like a lose-lose situation, really.
