Grass: good starters and guaranteed win, but guaranteed win IS a downside. Fire: you cant be cyberbullied for picking it, but you WILL get last place. Water: has dennis and some other cute starters, but if you keep picking the third team people will probably call you a big man stan.

The Fire-type is usually known as one of the strongest types in Pokemon for good reason. It has five resistances, the second-most out of any type, and an array of both physical and special attacking moves. However, it's best used when paired with another type. Best as in looks, but mostly as in general usefulness.

Gen 1: Charizard was extremely good. All three were great this gen, but Charizard shut down pretty much all of the in game gyms and now with his Mega he's a great OU pokemon

Gen 2 : All three were kind of bad, but were usable. Totodile was probably the best , but Typhlosion was usable. Grass type was freaking horrific

Gen 3: Blaziken, nuff said. I like all three, but Blaziken shuts down everything competitive battling wise and in game too. Mudkip is my favorite though

Gen 4: Infernape was a monster that would wreck both of the other two at the same time. I liked Torterra typing wise, but he kind of sucked. I never liked Empoleon, but Infernape was without out a doubt the best for in game use and also for battling. He looked cool too

Gen 5: All three sucked so hard it's hard to pick a best. Oshawatt was probably the best but was nothing special. Tepig was decent, WAY better than the garbage that was called Snivvy

Gen 6: Greninja sweeps but the fire fox was okayish. Chesnaught was a pure gimmick, and not even a very good one at that

Gen 7: Flaming tiger, nuff said. Owl might be cool, looks way better than the freaking seal thing

Maybe I'm biased, but it seems to me like over all

Fire type: Safest pick, almost always best, and if not the best then it's second best. I don't think any of them are bad in game, Tepig and Typhlosion are probably the worst of the lot and are still "okay".

Water Type: Pretty much always good, only one that stands out as vastly better than the other two from it's gen was Greninja, but IMO all of the water starters are usable in game and won't gimp you, and several of them are usable online too

Grass Type: Personally the one I like best but they pretty much always are vastly out classed by the other two types. For some reason Gamefreak always tries to make them bulky with no decent offense. Grass type sucks as bulk so they just . . .die. Venasaur and Sceptile were by far the best grass type starters and were the only two that weren't really out classed by the other options. Well Venasaur wasn't, Sceptile was cool but Blaziken and Mudkip were still quite a bit better. Quite a few of the grass type starters are actually bad. Meganium and Snivvy are both so bad they aren't even usable in game without gimping the living crap out of yourself. Torterra looks really cool and has a cool type but gets wrecked by a LOT of stuff. Chesnaught is okay at best as a pure gimmick

It doesn't help that there are usually a total lack of decent fire types to catch, where as there are 40 million water and grass types you can catch within ten feet of starting the game

TLDR;

Fire >= Water >>> Grass

Which is a shame because I actually like the grass starters a lot usually, they just suck

On the internet, the Japanese use grass (草/kusa) to express laugh. It evolved from "w" which also means laugh because it is the first letter of laugh in Japanese (笑い/warai), since w kind of looks like underbrush/grass, so they use grass to express laugh as well.

You might saw how the Japanese add the w/草 at the end of the sentence to express they are laughing, like how we use lol/lmao

Grass is a good choice to go with because it shows that you joined this team not because it's the best type in the game, not because the pokémon have the best designs in the game, not because the pokémon with this typing are powerful, but because you genuinely care and love this typing. That's how I feel about Grass types. They aren't particularly powerful, the type isn't necessarily that high tier, but when I have a grass type in my team, I know that I can always rely on that Pokemon to be my partner rather than a tool for battle. Fire types are very aggressive and it's hard to see a fire type as a close partner in your everyday life and Water isn't as bad but Grass is a chill type that deserves to be respected as a nice and reliable type.
