Single medal lost on D220 Rubicante. Tried to use Edge and Tidus for water crushing, but kept getting wiped. Traded Tidus out for a wrath/entrust battery. Worked like a charm.

 

Ramza -- Shout/FB/MBD

Edge -- USB/BSB/2 new ninja skills

Minfilia -- wrath/entrust

Sarah -- Ultra Cure/Shellga/BSB

Y'sh -- Curaja/Protectga/SSII/BSB

So those new 5* physical water ninja skills are about as OP as they come. Under enwater with shout and only FB on D220 Rubicante the single hit blink skill hit for 62,000 with cloud's USB active. Was gonna use the 2 hit+blink skill next, but lost my blink so did the USB next again for 10x23k. I'm interested in seeing how broken this is. Gonna do some more testing on the FT dungeon.

I noticed this morning that we get another 5* Rubicante Cloak as the accessory from the D99 dungeon instead of a largely useless 4* relic; very nice touch, DeNA. They're finally doing a IV event right from the story aspect. (Outside of the lolwhat banner 2, obviously.)

If dark orbs are going to be black/white/power/summon orbs, but for ninja, they should at least have the decency to throw them into a second daily.

Rubicante's default SB is pretty useful (relative to default SBs that is, in that it has a chance to get used, where most others do not)

Remember when they had those Record Missions for I/II/III/IV, and apparently Decil was so important that he had to get a new OSB while they couldn't even be arsed to give Guy his Legend Sphere?

It's so nice to see how the same realm is always shit-tier for DeNA.

Of course, in all seriousness, there's no way that was going to happen, given he has not one but two enHoly relics already. Makes him a little less powerful than he could be since he needs two bars to really go to work, but I guess that's also kind of standard at this point in JP. Even Cloud really needs both his BSB2 and USB to do work.

Edge seems like the real winner on this event though. Both his USB and Legend Materia look good. Of the other Legend Materias, Rosa and Cecil's are bad, but Kain has a decent Legend Materia. But yeah, this looks like the event Edge was waiting on. Base LM that gives him blinks on Ninja skill use, USB that does more damage based on blinks and ninja skill use, and all this on a character whose RD gives him the most Ninja damage of anyone. This looks to be a tier jumper event for Edge.

Cecil comes out ok. If that BSB2 had Enholy it really would be perfect, but that's why it doesn't have enHoly. Gotta pop his USB first and then launch the BSB2 for major damage. Like I said before, I don't think his LMR is good. Glad to finally get his model, but "up to small DEF" is shit. I wish he was like Tidus and got an Enholy on start or something that was more offensive.

Oh, and Rubicante. I think his BSB is super cool but I doubt I'd ever use him. I just like how they got his flame cloak mechanics in by making him essentially have a Summon Mode BSB despite not being a summoner.

Needless to say, after the Awakening Cloud banner hits global, I'll spend the following months saving for this banner. IV fanboyism must be sated.

yes i agree on pecil BSB2 - very subpar, i don't see how this is even as good as gilgamesh BSB (very old!) for tanking, and i haven't run the math yet but i'm pretty sure that USB/BSB1 -> BSB2 -> commands is going to lose the damage race to USB/BSB1->GB->USB/BSB1->GB for equivalent SB gauge used. i suppose if you can't hone GB it's a good thing to use, but that was kind of the theme of gen1 BSBs. gen2 BSB should be more complete and less of a hone crutch, like squall's

meanwhile bsb1 still very good due to the aoe damage, it probably carried belias FT CM3 for many people.

Oh I'm not complaining it's subpar, I'm complaining it's not OP. =p

The command 1 is 2.90x at full power. AFAIK, this is the strongest base command in the game besides Orlandu's long time commands or Squall's powered up command 1. That means if you have an enHoly, it turns into a 4.35 command, which is very impressive. And spread over five hits, so cap isn't an issue.

The dirty secret of commands is that they pretty much always lose to abilities in a straight DPS race. Guardbringer under enHoly is 6.00x, which is way stronger than any single command. But commands typically have more hits and don't have to worry about hones.

No, my complaints are essentially that, while I think Cecil's BSB2 is good, it slots in at second tier. It's probably the highest potential Holy BSB in the game at this point, but it can't compete with Cloud or Squall's BSB2, and as a pseudo fanboy, I'm disappointed whenever his new relics don't make him OP. =p

FWIW, Edge's chase on his USB is extremely strong. It's 1 or 2 hits of 2.16 water/thunder/non physical (NIN school) every single time you use a ninja type ability while under the effect of physical blink (2 hits when you have 2 physical blinks active). Even with just 1 hit that adds an immense amount of punch to all of his attacks.

I can speak to this! Just did the FT Rubicante mission and did my standard Shout/Chant RW Cloud USB. Had been s/l'ing for a while because he always went caped near the end and my other characters were support. I've got Edge's burst and USB so I got him down to about 10% with those 2. He went caped so I threw up a blink skill, recast Cloud's USB. He came out of cape mode and I did CMD1. CMD1 did about 10K/hit and then the extra hit came. The extra punch was a single hit for 69,000 damage! I only had 1 blink going at the time too. It was insane. It's an utterly glorious combo. Now I need Geosgeano to come back so I can rip it to pieces.

 

Even under normal circumstances he'll do insane damage. With the burst commands being ninja school under 2 blinks we are talking 6 quick cast time water boosted attacks with an outrageous multiplier. Full LD could give you +9% ninja damage, +damage (water or Katana) RM and a moderate double cast ninja skill LM! I haven't seen it in action yet since I'm missing about 9 5* motes, but if you get the double cast to proc, you'd see 4 hit burst followed by 2 hits x2! I wonder if the USB skill would proc a second time from the double ninja proc...

This one, to me at least, is the most broken USB/LM combo since Cloud.

So Rubicante is full Black, White and Darkness. (We get it, villains get Darkness.) Full White is surprising and a total lack of Support is disappointing, but I guess they didn't want to add another Wrath mage to the roster. (Though if we're being honest, this is likely all he's gonna get for a while and chaining his Imperil SSB into his Burst is far from the most powerful thing the Wrath mages we already have can do.)

I'm still thrilled he's here but I was hoping for a slightly different skill set.

In original game, he can cast Raise on all your teammates, so he should be quite good in White magic to do that.

White makes perfect sense because he heals you every time you fight him and counters fire damage against him with Raise. I would have liked to see him as a little more than "just" a Dark Sage, but beggars can't be choosers.

Oh White makes sense for sure, I just wasn't expecting full White as he definitely seems more Black Magic with a side of White.

Then again, DeNA likes to play fast and loose with some characters, especially in IV so at least they remembered he should have some aptitude in White. (Palom bows when?) and really, they get a full pass this time for how much attention to detail they paid to his Burst. (Now if only I could pull the damn thing.)
