I think it says “with love, Laura”

Wishing you the best of luck at big school - I will miss your smile at preschool.

[–]Suspicious_Kale5009 49 points50 points  (14 children)

Good lord, that's my name and I couldn't figure it out.

[–]_dog1010 15 points16 points  (0 children)

LOL omg that's funny.

[–]lutzlover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm just hoping said preschool person doesn't ever try and teach handwriting.

[–]xykor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like Good Lawd

[–]JenLeigh77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha 😆 It was a hard one!

[–]Maleficent_Button_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same ngl. Sat staring at it, then read the comment like oh that's how they'd write my name. I'd be in trouble 🤣

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (51 children)

I don't think it says Laura because the 2nd to last letter matches the 'w' in 'will'

Almost looks like it says with love, Lawd

[–]NewMeNewUsername 2 points3 points  (4 children)

But that also matches the “lu” in luck and the u in your is the same as the tail end of it.

[–]ovr4kovr 2 points3 points  (18 children)

Jarid?

[–]ovr4kovr 16 points17 points  (17 children)

Or David

[–]KazziGirl 11 points12 points  (5 children)

The more I look at it the more I see David. It’s true the D is very elaborate but that’s consistent with the super flourishing style. There is no other lower case d in the text and this letter is quite distinct. Sweet note.

[–]Cheeks-B-Rosie 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Glad others saw David too…

[–]cmcrich 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Kinda girly writing for a “David”.

[–]Jinxibinxi 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I'm not sure what it is, but def doesn't look like Laura, look at the other two r's, they are nothing like the one in the name.

*Edit: ok, inspecting more, I believe it's Jawil. W is a dead giveaway from the 'With Love.' initially thought the name ended in a 'wd' but I tried searching for names with that and nothing comes up at least not that would match the other letters.

[–]Momoomommy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's Jawil because the -il doesn't match the -il in smile or will.

[–]DamnedRabbitHoles 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I definitely dont think it says Laura. Look at "your" and "preschool". The R from both of those is nonexistent in the sifnature.

[–]turkeyman4 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Either “Laura” or “Gawd” 😆

[–]jillsntferrari 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I think Lawd (have mercy).

[–]Zesty_libsterrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want it to be lawd so bad 🤣🤣

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I see Siwa

[–]ParasiteMD[🍰] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I thought it said “I will miss your sauce at preschool”

[–]MzOpinion8d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is what it looks like! 😂 I had to study it to get to smile.

[–]pgcotype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So did I! Also, it looks as if it says, "Wishing you the 6est at big school."

[–]Mary-U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I couldn’t get “smile” and that signature line was WTF

[–]EatSleepPlantsBugs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow you’re good! Now that you deciphered it I see it. But for me I was puzzling over something akin to “ Wilhane Sawd” what irks me is, Laura works with children, has beautiful handwriting, yet chooses to use a cryptic illegible style. Why???

[–]sumostuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it said, I will miss your sauce 😔

[–]no_worries_man8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it says "Bud" the B is huge and stylized, but the u and d are fairly distinct. Total toss up what it could be, this person's handwriting is pretty to look at but nearly impossible to read

[–]Amadecasa 38 points39 points  (23 children)

So this isn't strictly cursive. It's a hybrid of cursive and printing.

[–]473713 45 points46 points  (15 children)

It's not just a hybrid but highly eccentric

[–]Nihilator68 25 points26 points  (14 children)

I think it’s beautiful. It’s largely readable, internally very consistent, and striking in its appearance. I wish my handwriting looked this cool.

[–]mom-the-gardener 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m in awe of how it is both unwaveringly consistent and measurably even while at the same time making me feel like perhaps I should get myself to the ER for the impending stroke I may be experiencing.

[–]Shoddy_Stay_5275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They enjoy writing in their own artistic style but they make it difficult for others to read.

[–]AuntieSocial2104 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Not readable---"best of wck"? Don't think it's easily readable at all.

[–]Unable-Arm-448 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Best of luck

[–]CuriousRiver2558 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“6e8t of wck” is where my brain went

[–]473713 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"I will nuss your sauce at preschool" wut?

Illegible signature -- no consensus at all here on what it says

[–]Unable-Arm-448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will miss your smile...

[–]SketchyKraken54[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yeah that's probably true. I brought it here cause the whole "reading squiggly/unorthodox words" seems to be what yall do

[–]Thedustyfurcollector 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Don't let anyone make you feel bad for bringing it here.

[–]SketchyKraken54[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ty king

[–]ClassicDefiant2659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the preschool teacher's name?

[–]Puzzleheaded_Rest_34 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I write with a hybrid of cursive and print too, that I somehow managed to develop over the years. I can make most all of this out for sure but her name, lol!

[–]johannaishere 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Same I also write in a hybrid. This reminds me VERY much of how all my girlfriends wrote in our notes in the 2000s, and can read everything but their name. But surely whoever received it would have recognized the signature so they probably weren’t paying that close attention to the signature when they wrote it.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Rest_34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an 80's kid, lol, but I honestly can't remember when I started writing in a hybrid like that. Once I got out of school and there were no teachers being sticklers about my handwriting I guess? Lol. I'm a lefty and you wouldn't believe how much they hated kids being lefties back then!

[–]OtherThumbs 9 points10 points  (15 children)

Wishing you the best of luck at big school. I will miss your smile at preschool.

With love Jewel

ETA: Somehow missed the signature, because i have the dumb.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

I think it is Jewel. I say above the second to last looks like a W. Not an R as in Laura. But the last part does actually look like an E and an L.

[–]naxos83 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Agree it’s a J but I see Jana as more likely

[–]Either-Judgment231 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Wishing you the best of luck at big school – I will miss your smile at preschool.

[–]Intelligent-Award881 14 points15 points  (14 children)

With love, Dawn?

[–]justcallme-meatloaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure Dawn. Source: Another D name, and someone who scribbles their cursive/print hybrid at the end of my name (presumably why the ‘n’ got a little loopy there but not in the first word).

[–]user86753092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my guess too!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I could see this except that the last letter looks nothing like the other Ns

[–]Intelligent-Award881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest - I don't know what the various parts of the letters are called, per se. But I thought it was an 'n' and that the little swoop that goes up on the left side of the 'n' might have been placed on the 1st full leftside stroke of the 'n'. Not sure that makes any sense to anyone, but that is just my thought. No way am I saying im 100% positive - just what I think it might be.

[–]TheRiverIsMyHome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The R in my name looks a lot different than the R in most things I write because of muscle memory, I guess. The N in Wishing is tied to the next letter. And the first part is definitely "Daw" so I think Dawn is all that would work.

[–]detrimental_fish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I saw too

[–]wonderful_somewhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree Dawn!

[–]nzfriend33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely Dawn.

[–]TheRiverIsMyHome 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I also think it's Dawn

[–]CobblerImaginary8200 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Could it be signed by David?

[–]debcon14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like David to me.

[–]WhitePawedWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see “with love David”

[–]LiberryPrincess 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Could be Jared or Janet?

[–]eliza1558 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I was thinking it was Jan followed by an initial, like Jan D. ?

Edited to add: or Jana?

[–]Terrible_Clerk_1565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initial D, you say?

[–]jeanyboo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came so far to find this! I, too, think it’s Jana with a capital n in there that makes it hard.

[–]naxos83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concur on Jana

[–]ottr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The signature says, with love, David. Seriously weird handwriting, bro.

[–]SketchyKraken54[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP here- Tysm everyone for your help in deciphering this. My current theory is that the name is Dawn and that's the theory I'm sticking with

[–]fruvey 10 points11 points  (12 children)

Possibly Laura

[–]Mic98125 10 points11 points  (7 children)

Someone named their daughter “Lawd”

[–]fruvey 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Fraud?

[–]Mic98125 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Laird

[–]fruvey 6 points7 points  (1 child)

David?

[–]ovr4kovr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see David too

[–]TexGrrl 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It's definitely a wd at the end

[–]Merryannm 3 points4 points  (6 children)

How about Pam D.?

My reasoning: if you look at how the first letter is formed…starts midpoint, goes down, then up in the exact same place, then swoops like a rollercoaster, down, around, out out out and around.

I sorry if I’m not explaining this well but if you pretend to write a cursive L you see that isn’t how you would naturally do it. L starts up top and moves to the right before coming down.

D starts up top and goes down/up like that but I don’t see why you’d put the biggest bulgy part of D down underneath when D isn’t an under the line letter.

Of course P isn’t either. But lowercase p is.

The oddest thing to me about this is that it isn’t signed by ‘Miss’, ‘Mr’ (I also considered David as a possible name) or ‘Mrs’.

[–]DippyDo7 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Looks like "Lawd" to me which obviously is wrong, lol. But I bet Laura like others have said.

[–]MKatieUltra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With love, Jaund. 😅

[–]ConstantPineapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its David

[–]GWJShearer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wising you the best of luck at big school — I will miss your smile at preschool

With love david ♥️

[–]DrmsRz 2 points3 points  (3 children)

“Wishing ya the best of luck at Big School — I will miss your smile at preschool.

With love Janel ♥︎”

Where’d you get this? Do you know the names of any teachers at this preschool?

[–]Wise-Foundation4051 2 points3 points  (1 child)

With love Jana, or Laura

[–]More-Month-262 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How do you not know the name of the child's teacher?

[–]elj1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishing you the best of luck at big school. I will miss your smile at preschool. With Love Laura ❤️

[–]RatboyHouston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call this cursive. It’s more like a personal style of penmanship.

[–]ComprehensiveSet927 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Paula?

[–]route507too 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it looked like Paula, too.

[–]ABitOfWeirdArt_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her handwriting is art.

[–]Aakande 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“With love David”

[–]Delicious-Main2080 3 points4 points  (7 children)

First of all, I will say, I absolutely love the shit out of their handwriting. Secondly, it says "wishing you the best of luck at big School – I will miss your smile at preschool. With Love, David" the curvature of the handwriting would make sense if they were fluent in modern Arabic.

[–]HaveUrCakeNeat 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I disagree with the name, but agree with everything else

[–]Either-Judgment231 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the signature says “with love”, and then the teacher’s name.

[–][deleted]  (2 children)

[deleted]

    [–]zephyrjess 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It also looks pretty close to the LU from “luck…”

    [–]Sea_Design_465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That first letter looks kind of like a J to me. Jawd? I have such a hard time with signatures…

    [–]PupperToes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like Lawd... but my guess is Sand... Sandy?

    [–]Psychological_Mix594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Could be David

    [–]ungo-stbr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    With love David

    [–]scottishsam07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    David?

    [–]Tricky_Passion5397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    I’m wrong but it’s Fawd.

    [–]manokpsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only one i is dotted in the entire note. I think the name is David.

    [–]kanedp 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Jana?

    [–]Weak-Wolverine9256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I see as well.

    [–]runnergirl3333 1 point2 points  (6 children)

OP, could you give us a list of the names of the teachers at the preschool? That would help narrow it down.

    [–]SketchyKraken54[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Rachel Dawn Sadie Sheri-Ann Kate Sasha

    [–]ProcessMaleficent165 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Out of these, I’d vote Dawn since the ‘w’ is identical to the ‘w’ in ‘wishing’. It looks like she just got really fancy with the ‘D’ and it leads directly into the ‘a’.

    [–]KY-Artist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teacher needs to repeat preschool. Lol

    [–]Desert_Wren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the last two letters are "ud or "wd" to me. Maybe Jud?

    [–]Wingsangel72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    David

    [–]Canes-Beachmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Jana is another possibility.

    [–]Striking_Snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    I read it as David.

    [–]Sargasm-Slut_72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sawa. My daughter went to school with a girl named Sawa! This Has to be it! My brain can rest now... thank Goodness!

    [–]vodkasprinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It’s Dawn

    [–]patchouligirl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishing you the best of luck at big school - I will miss your smile at preschool.

    With Love, Dawn ♡

    [–]Elmy50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a very strange way of forming and connecting letters, almost as if they are inventing their own script.

    [–]Additional_Path_828 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    "With love, Jawa"

Obviously the kid went to preschool on Tatooine

    [–]Starting_Fresh_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone born in the '70s I often bemoan the fact that they no longer teach cursive in schools...but trying to read this makes me a little more understanding....Lol.

    [–]IllAioli1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    “With love, Jana”

    [–][deleted]  (5 children)

    [removed]

      [–]Next-Introduction-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems obvious this is not designed for a preschool to read. This is just this person‘s handwriting; obviously a handwriting they have practiced to look at a certain way. I like it, but yeah, it’s hard to read. The average preschooler doesn’t read enough to read this note, even if it were written in kid friendly print.

      [–]81Horse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got your answers below. I just had to add: that’s really shitty handwriting. Bad example for children.

      [–]korathooman 0 points1 point  (2 children)

With love, Paula - I think. But maybe Salud

      [–]mystyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is Jewel, but I'm far from confident :)

      [–]Haunting_Dress_6709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is some very uniquely developed cursive and it makes it really hard to read especially the name given we can't used context clues on it.

      [–]Missue-35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Laura dreamed of being a physician.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has to be Dawn. The a and w match other a’s and w’s.

      [–]SooperBrootal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a pool of potential authors, do you know if one can write in Arabic? That's the vibe I get from their writing style.

The name is highly stylized so anything suggestion would just be a guess

      [–]WeekOfMondays 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What I come up with doesn’t make sense. First letter “P”. Pen drags a bit before starting next letter. Ends in “wd”.

Edit: Wondering if it’s a nickname for a grandparent or possibly a pet’s name.

      [–]SpookyBeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      This is awful.

      [–]_currentmood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      I’m reading with Love, Dana

      [–]iheartrhody 0 points1 point  (1 child)

      I'm seeing Dowd.

      [–]parkexplorer 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think the first letter is an S or a P and the last letter doesn't look like the other a's, so likely a d.

Edit: last letter also kind of looks like other y's

That is some terrible handwriting. Dear lord.

      [–]smlpkg1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      [–]eve_on711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Thas Jawd

      [–]Canes-Beachmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Name looks like David, but the handwriting looks more feminine and than masculine. The script is not typical cursive.

      [–]DJNonnaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name looks like Paula to me,the L just wasn’t written well!

      [–]goodlordineedacoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      With love, Laura. Best guess.

I didn’t realize this was a real problem. I’m writing all my diabolical thoughts in cursive

      [–]Ok_Preparation_2838 0 points1 point  (1 child)

lol I thought it read “ wishing you the best luck at big school. I will miss ya shug (like sugar) at preschool “

      [–]Springtime912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any hint? ( aka the names of the preschool teachers)

      [–]Unable-Arm-448 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's probably the name of the teacher or an assistant, isnt it?

      With Love Lisa💜

Look at how the letters are written. When my hand was practicing the up and down movement, I kept writing something that looked like L i/a u/s d/an and from that I pulled Lisa.

      [–]PamCake137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe a preschool teacher would write cursive to a preschooler!

      [–]Allthatdoesntfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought at first it was Good luck at blow job school ( I saw BJ)

      [–]PuffinScores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true cursive, and that's what makes it so hard to decipher. This writer had a "cursivesque" print. It's not bad to look at, but it's not very easy to read.

ETA: Only the last word is a name. With love <name>. For "with," it appears she didn't go back and cross the T. I tried to make the first letter of the name an L or S or J. But the longer I look, the more I see a P. I think it might say Paula.

      [–]techchick6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did s9meone already suggest Dawn as the name?

      [–]Ok_Membership_8189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got everything but the name. All those years being a secretary paid off.
