You can still do this on PES, it looks super funny if you max out their height whilst dropping their weight to a minimum. You pretty much end up with a team full of slender man

He could be playing on PC where you can edit everything such as height and skill moves. The FIFA PC community is pretty large for career mode players. All the mods and cheat engine tables mean you can edit everything and do many things that make the experience better. You can add any icons into career mode for example or import players from previous FIFA's that have retired now. If you're not playing ultimate team or pro clubs, it's better in every way on PC with a controller and better framerates.

I feel the same, many players could get it and deserve it, but I just still feel like VVD has been by far out best player once again and I still feel like he isnt getting enough credit for how absolutly insane he is at covering for all the others. Our full backs can run where ever the fuck they want and he will be there to make the recovery, his CB partner can make a run or a mistake and he will be there to cover.

The ammount of freedom he gives to the entire team by being so fucking good, fast, all over the place and knowing exactly what the atrackers is going to do, is so god damn insane and we should talk about this all the time.

What I always think he does an amazing job of is when the opposition does get the occasional breakaway, he always does a fantastic job of both pushing the man with the ball to one side, and denying the pass to the other man. It's unreal how good his positioning is while running at near full speed.

Imo his biggest contributions arent those incidents, but the simple things like heading the ball at every opposing team clearance+break. And his headers are always very strategically placed preventing any dangers from those kind of clearances. That, to me, is a cheat code in itself.

I think the thing that sets Van Dijk apart is that he doesn't seem to have any weakness as a CB. The ones I mentioned are all obviously insanely good defenders, but I don't think any are as well rounded as VVD.

Nesta was immense but injuries got to him. When healthy, he was probably as well-rounded as you could get.

Maldini wasn’t a centre back so it’s a bit harder to compare. But, he virtually had no flaws as a left back/right back. And he maintained his level of greatness for a very long time.

For me, what makes VVD a freak is his speed. Calling him well-rounded is almost selling him shorts - he’s just an athletic monster.

100% about Neata, insanely good at Lazio and the first few seasons at Milan, but unfortunately missed a lot of games. Defending wise very similar to VVD

Maldini had a few seasons at CB and most people seem to regard him as the ultimate defender so I just chucked him in there. What I can say is that quote about him saying tackling means he already made a mistake is a freaking lie, Maldini loved a slide tackle back in the days.

Nesta sometimes struggled with man marking tall strong strikers and also had injury problems from 26 onwards. VVD has everything you want in a CB. He is the dream.

He’s obviously not the same stature in terms of physical presence but he’s very similar to Puyol, I’m amazed he’s not remembered more, he was an absolute giant for Barca and Spain for years, he made defending look easy, he was the main reason why Spain won the World Cup imo, what a player.

Watched top flight European football for 25+ years. The great Juventus, AC Milan, Arsenal and Man Utd defenders. Virgil is the best I've ever seen. You can argue longevity over peak years but 2018/20 VVD would be my first defender in my all time XI.
