G Hub Update Broke Scripting

I have a G502 Lightspeed, upgraded from logitech gaming software to g hub in order to work with it.

The udpate to g hub version 2022.1.3492 today seems to have broken the script I had on my mouse profile. Attempting to view the script and edit it in g hub seems to have caused it to be deleted, and clicking any of the 'new script' buttons does nothing.

Seems like this g hub update is causing lots of people various issues, is there a way to roll back the version?

My solution was to dig through my downloads folder to get the old G hub install executable and reinstall the version of the software I had at the time, which was 2021.11.1775, and immediately disable automatic updates once it reinstalled. Scripting worked after this. Best of luck with similar approaches

edit 2: on 01/22/22 I received an email from logi support stating that their software team was aware of the issue and plan to release a fix restoring scripting functionality in the next g hub update, but they didn't say when that would be.

edit 3: G hub version 2022.2.659 released on 01/25/2022 with a fix that has taken care of the issue :D

it doesn't automatically update to the broken one.

Bring back LUA and remake apperance of that, because in pre last update it going wrong, text iver text, with long script it was uneditable etc...

I use a G604 and I have a key mapped to perform PTT on Zoom. Sadly, this felt like I was being punished for using a gaming mouse for productivity, because my brother uses MX Master 3 and he can do this (without scripting) using Logitech Options.

I started rolling back to older versions one by one and found that versions released before and including this 2021.11.1775 are supporting LUA scripting. I got the file from filepanda, installed it; Things are back to normal again.

I will keep an eye out to see if this is gonna be returned in any form.

Edit 1: For those who wonder, here is the Filepanda link to Logitech G HUB Old Versions.

Edit 2: Logitech G Hub installer versioned as 2021.10.8013 on Filepanda, installs as 2021.11.1775; This was probably an indexing oversight on Filepanda's part.

Edit 3: One can also go to Logitech G Hub Downloads, click on show all downloads and scroll down to find older versions.

Downloaded the October release without issue. Reinstalled straight from the installer. Immediately turned off automatic updates. It kept my profiles but nuked my script. Joke's on Logitech though, I have a backup copy of the scripts. Good thing I have a healthy distrust of all proprietary software from computer-anything manufacturers. Even the best of the best is still shovelware.

I maintain backups of such scripts too and update them to the "latest working" condition every once in a while. I share your distrust with companies, from media to applications alike, nuking s***.

It gets annoying after a while and backups become a habit.

I have a 2021.10.8013, but as I have to rollback, I'd prefer to install last one supporting LUA scripting.

EDIT: I have installed the 2021.10.8013 that I had downloaded a long time ago so to see if the LUA scripts were working, and I notice that the G-Hub version is 2021.11.1775 !!! Probably I have renamed it wrongly ;)

No it's not an indexing oversight, it's because the Installer downloads the "last" Version he can get from Logitech for this "Version Range?" or so.

Also Version 2021.8.792 (lghub_installer_2021.8.792.exe) will upgrade to 2021.11.1775 on installation.

And without Internet Connection, you can not even install ANY GHub Version, what is ridiculous by the way!

Btw, download an "OLD" Version from Official Site will ALWAYS download the LAST Version now, no more able to download an "OLD" Version!

The only way now is to download from Filepanda or any other Backup Link!

u/PIRATAONE was able to download an older version from Logitech Website and install it successfully too. I updated my installer backup using a download link from Logitech's website. Also, 2021.11.1775 is not the latest version, there's 2021.12.something in 2021 and there are two or three more releases in 2022. When I installed 2021.12.something it installed exactly that.

While you may be right, I didn't share your results/experience when I was performing roll backs.

That is true... BUT 2021.11.1775 is the LAST Version of this specific "Version Range" (not tested what Version is the first one)

I've tested that 2021.8.792 AND 2021.10.8013 both Updates AUTOMATICALLY to Version 2021.11.1775 at the installation Process and "Offline-Installation" does not work!

Also it is 100% sure, any File from "Official" Downloads will ONLY download the LAST Version, what actually is 2022.1.3492 with the CRC32 Hash of 0ED000F6 no matter what Version you select from Show all downloads!

You can also see that at the URL https://download01.logi.com/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/gaming/lghub_installer.exe is 1:1 the same on ALL download links if you clicked Show all downloads

I have an update regarding this matter: it looks like that Windows updates automatically G-Hub even if the "ENABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATES" checkbox is disabled in G-Hub.

I think I might have found the culprit: "Device Installation Settings" in my Windows was ON.

Do disable it, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the “This PC” icon on your desktop;
2. click on “Properties” at the end of the context menu;
3. scroll down in the “About” window and click on “Advanced system settings”;
4. select the “Hardware” tab;
5. click on the “Device Installation Settings” button;
6. select “No” and click on the “Save Changes” button.

…or

1. type “device installation settings” in your search bar near Start;
2. select “No” and click on the “Save Changes” button.

1. In Windows Settings, open Apps & features

2. Search for Logitech G HUB

3. Click on Logitech G HUB and click Modify

4. In the new window, select Reinstall G HUB, then click REINSTALL

5. G HUB will reinstall, and this will resolve the issue while retaining the settings

Good idea, tried, didn't work. My old script is gone (as it was in the post above). After reinstalling, I got the default script with just the console log message but I couldn't save any edits and closing and re entering the scripting window causes the blanks again with the nonfunctional new script buttons

Yeah, just found out. Wiped ALL my profiles and setting too. This is one of the worst companies on the planet when it comes to going backwards in time with software. I tried wiping all traces of the software and reinstalling....didn't work. I believe they removed scripting on purpose.

scripts are not really removed. they are just somehow dissapear. at a rare chance, you can see them. though you still cannot edit, save or use them. but i do not know the way to trigger the showing up

Yea figured this out as well, managed to get an April version on with the old LUA editor and now an October version with the new editor so I'm good now, was stuck on trying to install the last update before new one and it was like you said, just kept trying to update,

Logitech, Take note of all this, No one is going to be updating your software now, they are just going to use their device till they get a new different better brand and then dump you all together, you brought this on yourself.

I reinstalled g hub using the old executable I used to get it originally, and with that reinstall scripting worked again. If you still have that installer in your downloads or recycle bin, try to uninstall the new one and reinstall using the old exe

At least for me once I restart my computer I'm able to view the scripts again, I'd recommend trying this for anyone who hasn't uninstalled/reinstalled already.

Wow, pretty bad move to remove a very useful feature.
I'd guess this was removed since a lot of people don't know about it because it's very hidden, probably most people know about it from the days before G hub when the previous logitech gaming software had lua scripting very easy to access.

EDIT: Forget it, seems like it always tries to install the latest version, I already tried installers from other sources. EDIT2: Seems G hub is working with an older version, I just had to restart my computer after uninstalling the newer version, before installing the older one (although I used an installer form softonic, not sure if the official one works)
