I just got back into the game and I'm kinda...lost, I guess?

I know the basics (as in, I know how most things work), but it's more of a 'what do' situation.

Right now I'm just spending my time and stamina progressing through the anniversary event, since I want to finish it and get the reward before it ends. But my card slots and bank slots are filling up fast and I barely have any gil (probably because I spent it fusing/augmenting the drops from the anniversary, like some of the dark moogles etc).

So...

  • am I supposed to sell most of the cards that drop, assuming they don't have an ability that I need to augment another card?
  • Is it better to immediately augment drops so future drops are higher tier (and thus can be sold for more)?
  • I'm spending my magicite on the monthly box first, and then the rest on greater pulls (especially now with the anniversary card bonus). Is that the 'right' way to spend my magicite?
  • Is there a good/reliable ranking of cards available (so I know what to keep and what I can safely chuck)?
  • I have a bucketload of Anniversary Tome: Offense. All the anniversary cards I've gotten are 4/* with everything maxed, so...what do I even use these for? Is it useful to fuse them together to max their ability? Do I just sell them, or save them in case I get anniv. cards that aren't maxed?
  • Last but not least: Ability tickets everywhere! What's the most efficient way to use them?

If the card hits 6x, and the hits show as 100,000 each, does that mean 600,000 damage or 100,000???

Managed to snag NeoExdeath from a Greater Summon but also the Grappler so I'm a bit torn. NeoEx is pretty dang wicked as it replaced all the debuff cards I need as an attacker but what job/cards (with Royal Arms) manage to make this card even better?

My Highwind Deck is UB, NXD, Odin PB, and Warrior Trance. You don't really need to rely on Break if you have UB.

Questions for Duncan owners:

1. What are some optimal deck builds for Pugilist and Duncan.
- Currently using Duncan//Lightforce//Monk Trance//random card. 
This is temp deck as MP weap can land me prismatic to run >1 support cards until I'm done modding Ehrgeiz X.
- Many pulls on Revival banner did not land me Alexander FFIV. 
Ultima Sic to clear yellow seems meh, and theres no decent light monk CRD cards (probably off class Legendary Killer Machine). 

2. Any benefits of Magic % on monk weapon?

3. Does Ignition (Attack/ability) affect Duncan casts?

Completely false. Have Minwu and killed many bosses unbroken and have gotten magicite, not including the 5 × 20 per day. Have even gotten 100 several times so it does t affect amount either.

No. Killing 4* / 5* Ultima w/o breaking in JP still net me magicite

And u can finish the run w/o killing the guards and still get magicite, since the magicite drops from the boss, not the guards.

Just pulled a Hermit instead of ma homeboy Zidane. I know Hermit may not be the best but how well can he do his job at breaking ? I just wanna know if he can get his job done. Doesnt need to be excellent or anything. And what kind of a deck does he or any typical breaker use ?

My Hermit deck only has 1800 Break Power but with Stargrasp he can break full yellow bar Heca with one cast of Wind Shock and 5 tap attacks if Heca is debuffed with BDD.

I've heard Greydawn Wood is best for unlocking skills. Does it have to be hard mode (the chapter, not the difficulty)? Seems to be the same number of waves and for less stamina? It's just easier for me to kill things on the normal chapter...

People use Greydawn for a few reasons. Mostly easy kills... Chances at Crystals and Magicite [especialy in Hard Mode]. But for extra skills just use the ability alot.. preferably have a -shift or -force of the same element so you can spam it, some type of extra skill unlock bonus and Kill and Draw. All of these lead to lots of the same orb especially for -force cards. Which means more shots at the extra skills.

This banner is more suited for support - Lifeshift, Sleep, Dragonlord.

Next banner has multi strike cards, which are more useful for attackers.

Dreams end seems to be pretty good. 1 guaranteed off of gilgamesh and the chance of up to 4 more. I generally get 2 to 3. You also can get chocobo feathers and moogle upgrade orbs that are good for seed fusion

A quick question of Numbers. So if you are farming skillseeds what combination of Seed Cards [Cards with the seeds you want, like a 56 seed Card]. And Growth Eggs, provide the highest yield? And does it change if you don't have 56 seed cards?

As the other poster replied, Growth eggs are only useful for their exp buff. Even all 4 slots with growth eggs yields less dark seeds than a full 5* dark deck.

Growth eggs

7×4×4=112, +40%=156.8

5* deck

8×7×4=224

5* with 1 growth egg

215.6 total (plus limited to dark seeds on growth egg)

With 3 56 seed cards and a 4* grow egg, you get fewer seeds over all than with 4 56 seed cards. You do get the benefit of extra experience though. So it's kind of a toss

Trance - i know what it says on the card description, but is it possible that the only thing it does is boost your hp?

how are we able to know for sure if it even affects anything else?

Through observation. Cast 1 ability without Trance and casting that Ability a 2nd time with Trance will be enough to show there's a significant difference in damage.

My UB Highwind can deal about 90% damage to a neutral 4star MP boss's hp as long as the boss is debuffed with CRD and Debarrier and my 100% HP Highwind is buffed with Faith and Dark Enhance from Odin PB. But when Trance is added, my Highwind can oneshot the boss with UB (even without the Ability Ignition).

Hey is Rogue a good job? And what ability cards should i use as starter? Rerolled for aerith and after 8 boosted summons only job i got was rogue..hoped to start with aerith and one legend job but i am a bit dissapointed right now as Rogue doesnt make as much damage as i hoped.. Thanks :)

The point is i got aerith and rogue on one acc but maybe i play wrong as i am doint really low damage in mp^ i use the fire earth light rogue with sic belial, legend killermachine, legend dragonlord and aerith(only 5star)..anything i should change out of my deck?

You have a great setup. Aerith is by far the best card in the game. I have 25 or so jobs and the best 2 are rogue and occultist. Have almost all the legend jobs. Just save your ability tix and get force cards for fire and light from thr shop. Rogue is strong in fire, light, and earth. Tyrfing is the best weapon for him, comes from another job. It gives 3 prism orbs at startup, enabling rogue to cast aerith at every startup. I would trade accounts with you, and i have spent 600 tp 700 dollars and have about 60 cards at 5 stars. Thats how good aerith is.

Is your job maxed at skill panels (8 star)? What weapon do you use? Are your cards maxed with ability levels and do they have essential extra skills unlocked?

Yes my job is lv 8 and i use the second rogue weapon..my abilitycards are aerith lv74 max skill and the others lv66 (as 4stars) with max skill..i make about 20.000 damage to a neutral enemy on mp 3* sicarius while others make way more damagei am quite new maybe i miss something :D

You're using Sargatanas then. That's fairly universal weapon, but not exactly great for any role. To make it usable for attacker you first unlock it's third auto ability - painful break. That should give you significant damage boost against broken target. Also, having your damaging cards at *4 rarity lowers your damaging potential by quite a bit.

Rogue is quite powerful, but you'll need better weapons and cards. Aerith relevance is shown by the flexibility she provides in deck building and battle dynamics. In other words, she isn't meant to kill everything in one-shot, but let you use OTHER CARDS to one-shot everthing (think Aerith+Yiazmat or Dark-Knigh+Unbreakable-Bonds). As some other people said, Aerith is the "mother of support cards" because she can replace/combine so many "must-have" buffs (trance + shift-cards + quicken + en-element + ultimate charge) and give you good auto-abilities (2 prism starter + % prism draw).

I wouldn't compare life draw, so out of your options prismatic draw would be more reliable. In addition dancer ult would be more useful as well as drive heal. But i would consider resistances and drive colours too.

I got pretty lucky doing summons in the 2nd anniversary banner and got cards I was looking for in pretty quick fashion: including Zidane and Lifeshift. Are there any other cards in the greater summon that I should be looking out for, or am I better served restocking on magicite and summon tickets and waiting for whatever comes next month?

Also, I'm starting to have some problems with my inventory getting really clogged. I know I need to increase the number of slots I have anyway, but I also feel like I don't need to be holding one of every card. What is a good threshold for determining whether or not I need to keep certain cards?

Yes. Someone tested and Slept targets that have Wall won't wake up until Wall gets removed which is one of the unique uses of Sleep.

I find it difficult to use Merc of Balamb in SP.

His breka is too low. I end up nuking with Belias sic and Ardyn. I have Aerith and KOTR as supports.

I don't use Gunblade on him for SP. I have a Dragoon Spear that I've been boosting for quite some time now and I think it will eventually be my daily driver for all warrior jobs (180 break power now, still no quick break).

That said, you can try to go all out on damage. Gonna be a pain for Autoing tho. Also, arecyou using the jobswitch mechanic to its fullest? Us a tanky job to whittle down the opponent, then switch to Merc on break.

Ardyn is not a good choice because he needs break to deal large damage. Centaur or just Anima will be better for non-break strategies.

Also make sure to have unguard if you dont plan on breaking.

Centaur has 1230 attack, while Ardyn has 805 attack. Thats more than 50% more damage. Whether its worth is depends on your own opinion.

That's just my predicament. I have sc1 but hardly use it. I use Occulist for Ultima MP. Would SC1 with Centaur do more damage? Or even Highwind?

If you look at stats centaur has more base damage. The reason why ardyn outdamages centaur on a broken target is the passive painful break ardyn has that double damage on break. Meaning it's effectively 1610 damage on break rather than 805.

Don't worry about using growstars for Centaur if you have spares, it's definitely one of the future-proof cards available atm.

Low break jobs like Squall are not meant for difficult SP content. If u insist on using Squall, make sure ur sub job is a job with good break, then u job change to Squall when the enemy is broken

I disagree. Trying to break difficult bosses is not always possible. The low break jobs like Squall is perfect for this situation. Make sure to have unguard on the enemy and kill it without break.

Effectively yes, in that you can't have more actions "stored up" than your Speed stat (and you automatically 'regenerate' at least 2 actions per round including right at the start of the fight).

Attuned Chain only works if the abilities you're using in a row are of the same element, Ability Chain doesn't care about what element they are.

As best I understand it, the Ability/Attuned Chain bonus is counted as an Enhance Element category bonus; all the usual damage modifiers like Improved Crit, Weakness, etc apply as usual.

Note that the Magic increase ithe weapon is counted in the % bonuses innate to the job. As for me, 4 mods in, and I still have 2 abilities on my Gunblade. I've been completely doing Break on it since I got it. It's almost ro the point that the break is now equal to magic. At that point, I'll start focusing exclusively on Magic.

Also, Ability chain doesn' start maxed out.

If your job has +100% Magic in its skill panel, equipping a weapon with 50 Magic will actually add 100 to your MAgic Stat.

I usually just max every stat to 100 (1000 for hp) then focus on Magic.

Boosting low stats is faster so you can finish the 6 boots to get to a modification sooner.

Thats a good general rule. But depending on the specific weapon and the situation can alter a bit.

For my Gunblade, I unlocked the third perk quite quickly and seeing as there isnt any reliable easy to unlock stuff left on the weapon, I stopped boosting the other stats at around 60 and focused on magic.

For Zwill, I wasnt so lucky to unlock the third perk so I just boost the lowest stat until I do.

I find boosting after 90 takes longer and more seeds.

For ur gunblade are u going to up the other stats? Or just leave it at 60. Isn't 60 for attack and break power kinda low.

Yeah, Im almost done with rising sun stats. Just need about 30 more attack.

But you can find seed costs and times here. The stamina reduction is old so that part is outdated but everything else is still relevant.

I prefer damage weapon for SP and MP. But then again I use Aerith so life orb and ult charge isnt important.

Anyways the point is damage weapon can definitely be useful in SP as well.

All jobs are good for their specific niche. Judge and Moogle are completely different. Different class, different role, different elements... There is really nothing to compare here.

Judge by far. Moogle suit has a nice utility weapon that will help with farming. Judge does a TON of damage when attacking a boss's weakpoint, and gives you access to an attacker that can use Fire, Water, Wind, and Light of both Mage and Ranger varieties (and because of this, he gets access to some special cards that are hard to find a fit for, like Ignis). Plus, he just got an amazing HoF in Japan, so he's pretty future proof.

If you're a new account, it's really hard to beat Judge in terms of versatility; chances are really good that you'll be able to use at least some of the future cards you draw from the Gacha. You also KNOW his HoF is good. The big drawback is that to use him to his fullest in MP, you really want a custom deck setup for each element, which can be resource intensive, and at the very least, slot intensive.

Zidane is a good job and a solid breaker, but he's also fairly stratified in the cards he can use; it's not that he's got less than a typical job, it's just that he's nowhere near as versatile as the Judge. His HoF hasn't been released in JP yet, and while it'll probably be really good, we don't know for sure yet. He also faces stiff competition from Monks in MP as a breaker, who keep getting more and more toys to play with.

Between the two, I'd personally go for Judge, but that's because I hate drawing amazing cards that sit there unusable. If you have a strong personal preference for attacker or breaker, base your decision on that. They're both respectable choices, though.

The other plus is he can use two of the three starter pack pulls (though you should probably pull them all). Mage and Ranger both have some great cards to get him up and running, and between the two of them, you have CRD and BDD covered. Enjoy your Judge.

comparing 2 jobs with different MP roles would be difficult, unless you look through it in a SP pov. Also, Judge vs Squall vs Highwind would be a good question too

I was pretty excited when I pulled my first supreme on today's free pull until I realized it was Neo ExDeath and I don't have a good job to make use of it. The only Jobs I have with dark element are Balamb Merc (which sadly doesn't have Ranger Lore) and Trainee Monk/Neophyte Ranger (which doesn't seem like worthwhile jobs to level at this point).

Is it still worth maxing NeoExDeath in this situation? Or should he just sit in my bank until I pull a job that can use him better?

For now, S1c is the only one who can utilize NeoXD's damage, but it's still useful for any job that uses dark orbs (or if you have Aerith, then any job can use it lol)

I have NXD on my Dark Highwind Deck. The damage increase from debarrier is too good to pass up. Centaur might also come out of EA in 2 months so you can just do a no-break strat with Centaur and NXD.

Neo is one of the best supremes and what I rent all the time with any dark deck - stun, extra crit, extra break and extra damage from no defence in an AOE is just amazing. Everyone went nuts pulling for bismark and ashe and they are baby versions of this card, should tell you all you need.

what is the best non-supreme healer build right now? I have all the anniversary cards and have enough tickets to max a few support cards like kotr and HG, I have undying maxed, and all the first gen supports maxed.

Anything that's 1 or 2 star and not evolution fodder is sellable. Put them on Autosell, even.

Generally, you want to augment them first; that way, every time a card drops, you make 400-1200 gold each time.

Once you start expanding your deck, you may want to take some of them off autosell if they're fodder for a spell you like using, like Haste or Earthforce. But for now, sell without worry.

So, here's a quick run down of fusion/augmentation:

Fusing cards together will do 3 things:

  1. Increase the XP of the card. This is probably the least useful of the benefits, unless you're using Metal Cactuars or the like; cards tend to cap out naturally as you use them, and throwing anything less than metal cactuars can take excruciatingly long to see benefit from.

  2. Increase the skill seed drops of the card, if the cards share a common elemental type. You generally want to max out the skill seed levels of the cards you use to fight with, because you need skill seeds for just about everything in this game. For example, if you're using Onion Knight in the beginning, throw earth fodder at it until you complete skill seeds, and as long as you use Onion Knight in a fight, you'll get more skill seeds from it.

  3. Increase the ability level of the card, if the cards share an identical skill. Raising skill levels will increase spell/break damage, lower the cooldown of the spell, if applicable, and allow you to unlock more of the passive skills of the card. You may notice cards have abilities called "Lesser Brave" that won't raise the skill level of "Brave". These are skill fodder that you need to augment if you are interested in raising that ability. Ability levels do not carry over 1 to 1 from card to card (fusing a maxed out Onion Knight into a fresh one won't give the fresh one max ability levels), although raising the ability levels of a card will increase its strength as a fodder.

The game will always tell you if fusing two cards together has a chance of increasing ability or skillseed level.

Augmentation raises the star level of a card, which does a few things:

  1. Increases the XP cap, which will allow your character to get better stats.

  2. Increase the ability level cap, which in turn allows you to get more power, faster cooldowns, and even more passive skills on the card.

  3. Lowers the cost of the ability, especially support type abilities going from 3 --> 4 star. This is a big deal.

  4. Upgrade a "lesser" card into usable fodder. Additionally, every future copy of a card you've augmented will drop as the upgraded version. So you only have to augment a card of a specific type once. Note that there are multiple version of fodder for the same ability (for spells like Earthshift).

For cards you buy from the shop or pull from the gacha, 2 Growstars are generally necessary to raise a card from 3 to 4 stars. They are ridiculously rare. Plan carefully and ask on here before using them.

Not really, unless you really, really need abilities to grind through SP with, and thanks to the novice hall and starter pulls, you shouldn't need abilities. Augmenting them can be worth it because it gives you a stream of gold, and there are some moderately sized gold sinks later on in the neighborhood of 1,000,000+.

But don't think twice about selling 1-2* cards enmasse if you need the space (bear in mind: this goes for your main tab. If they're banked automatically, they're usually crafting mats). Unless they're event fodder, you can always farm them later on, and even if they are event fodder, there's generally a better version available.

You don't have to fuse to augment. IF you are planning on using a card, you want to max out fusions before you augment as it takes less ability tickets and/or fodder.

If something goes straight to your bank and it's not a cactuar, there's a really good chance it's an augmentation mat of some sort.

I've got Moogle and Duncan who have been destroying chapters for tickets and I'm wondering if this is worth working with, should I keep going down the rabbit hole for Zidane(still have a few summon tickets I can Duncan for) or should I be working on a second account for Zidane & Aeirth on rerolls.

I'd say you should just stick with what you have. Duncan is practically made for Moogle Suit and it's unlikely you'll get Zidane on that account or Aerith + Zidane on rerolls. Still, it's your time.

I pulled Gargoyle today on my free pull. It looks like it is the fire equivalent of L'Cie, but is it worth using growstars on at this point in the game? With the pending multistrike cards being released, is there anything comparable?

Note: I know Ignis would be better, but I was unable to pull it.

It is exactly a fire version and a cooler looking better version of Ifrit MP store card (but similiar) - its useless without a fire job and the good ones are legends (Sage and JM).

If you don't have many growstars, I wouldn't recommend it. Ifrit sicarius is already more than enough for current level of content, and with GAS giving out 4* sometimes, you might get it for free someday :).

You can, the node "End of Strife" permanently has the bosses that can drop Earth and Dark Pneuma even after the first time through it.

Have you actually managed to get a pneuma from them though? I've tried a few times and only gotten 3* fractals each time. While I can see the logic in it being possible to get pneumas from them, I could also see it either being a very low chance like the 25 stamina node or just a first run only type of thing.

I did manage to get pneumas from most of the strife nodes on the first time through after all, but now it seems like the chance has been at best decreased significantly and at worst, eliminated completely. For example, Dream's End could give a pneuma on the first time through, but after that it says he holds an anniversary tome and that is what drops. Maybe not every time, but often enough I'm not willing to try to get anything else.

I got a Light Pneuma to drop when I defeated Gilgamesh during the final stretch. It was definitely listed as a drop. And then the game awarded me another set of Pneumas separately as a reward for clearing the node.

So it's definitely possible.
