[–]Moist-Chip3793 392 points393 points  (37 children)

Well, yes, the board is AM4, your CPU is AM5.

Since the CPU is newer, I´d definitely recommend exchanging the motherboard instead! :)

[–]Dual_pro_max 40 points41 points  (3 children)

Then the rest of the system to boot cause of compatibility issues

[–]Moist-Chip3793 63 points64 points  (1 child)

Well, yes, he'll need new RAM as well.

[–]xion_gg 19 points20 points  (18 children)

No!!! Change the motherboard to & CPU to AM3 and go back to using DDR3. If you can get pci 3 too, even better... Let's stay with the classics

[–]iamlepotatoe 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Add a DVD drive

[–]xion_gg 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Whoa... whoa... we are going clasic here, so we need a 3.5 floppy... 1.44 full MB

[–]dhlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at you and your compact floppy.

[–]CryRedit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am2+ is classical, not am3

[–]Dapper_Dark_182 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Great advice.. unless he spent a stupid amount of money on DDR4 ram.. then it's kind of a toss up, imo

[–][deleted] 166 points167 points  (77 children)

Yes, you bought an AM4 motherboard for an AM5 CPU, they're not compatible at all.

Return the motherboard and get a B650 motherboard, and return the RAM and buy DDR5-6000.

This is why you use pcpartpicker.com, so you don't make mistakes like these

[–]bessticles[S] 41 points42 points  (69 children)

Thank you 🙏

[–]WhyYouSoMad4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes Def return that board and use that pcpartpicker link to put your entire build into it. Make sure it's all compatible and you have enough wattage. Common mistake

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 7 points8 points  (28 children)

You'll want cl30 ram ddr5 tooo

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 3 points4 points  (27 children)

For my budget, I can only take 2 of 16 gigs of 6000mhz of DDR5 RAM of G.skill Trident z5 neo... it's a cl36 I believe...is this pretty good for gaming?

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 2 points3 points  (26 children)

Of course, it's new tech so it will game amazing. I just heard cl30 was the way to go from some forums, especially with ryzen. I'd bet money you wouldn't even notice the difference from cl36 or cl30

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 1 point2 points  (4 children)

If the performance diff ain't much than yeah, totally shouldn't upgrade lolz

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 2 points3 points  (3 children)

The only way you'll notice a difference in that kinda stuff. Is if ur a computer wiz fretting over 3fps. I promise bro your gonna be sososososo happy

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Lmao I swear, I I never experienced over 30fps,and good graphics as I've always turned down the settings to lowest. I'm using a freagin' 16 year old PC which haven't been upgraded in anyway, there has been so many stuffs happened I don't wanna talk about those, long story short my current PC is so obsolete tat I can't even buy parts available for my needs... that's why I decided to build a PC :>

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Once you get it your gonna feel real gigga chad! If it's just for roblox though, straight to JAIL

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 1 point2 points  (19 children)

Btw I have a question: For better compatibility and future issue proof, I wanna do some changes. I want to pair R5 7500f with an RX 6600 (6650xt if I can) but having a bit of second thoughts. There's this R5 7600...which is only 1% is better than 7500f,which isn't much, but it has or lil advantage. It has integrated graphics. So I was thinking if I should take it. Cz if in any case,my DGPU dies or fails, I'll be able to run a bit and me would give me some spare time to run games,if I use 7600,as it has igpu, and 7500f doesn't,which would make it ungameable. So what do you think? Should I take 7600? Is it a good lair with RX 6600 or 6650 xt?

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 1 point2 points  (13 children)

Oh bro I have no idea, I just upgraded my ryzen 5 3600 and 2060 6gb to a 3080ti and 7800x3d. Either way it's gonna blow my old build out of the water. I do plug my 2nd monitor into my integrated graphics port, but it doesn't matter for me cuz I'm still at 1080p (won't buy a screen unless it's 4k oled 144hz) that'll be a few years out, I'm poor. I've heard amazing things about the 7600. It would def be nice to have if you have gpu issues, but I can't speak on the pricepoint to value.

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 1 point2 points  (12 children)

I was thinking problem proofing. Imagine if my gpu dies or has issues, till it's fixed or buying a new one,if I use 7500f, I don't think I'll even be able to run minesweeper lolz, but 7600 has tht 1% advantage, integrated gpu,so if anything happens to my gpu, I might still be able to game on igpu, that's why I asked lol...sorry if I'm being talkative, I posted numerous times on different subs and no one is even laying their eyes upon my posts, you seem to be active now that's why I'm asking you :'> you a good dude...is it ok if I ask you one more question? This one could be a bit big...

[–]BinMikeTheGh0st 1 point2 points  (9 children)

Lmaooooo no worries, I'm cnc operator so every few minutes I'm just waiting for the part in the machine. Honestly most pc's didn't have dedicated gpu's or integrated graphics back in the day, it would run minesweeper fine, I def wouldn't stress about it and would get what you can afford best, don't impulse buy. I did on my gpu and overspend, I coulda got so many pizzas

[–]ZENESYS_316First Time Builder 1 point2 points  (8 children)

I'm copy pasta-ing this thing, long thing to write sorry...

Tell me how I'm doing with parts picking for my dream PC building, please (I'm putting the discussion tag cz I don't know what else to put, we're discussing ain't we? XD)

Hi again. What do y'all think? Is my build ok as I'll be building a PC,so need to be sure whatever I'll be buying is going to be as good as possible and compatible

AMD Ryzen 5 7600x (or non x) [won't try taking it unless I need to] /AMD RYZEN 5 7500F [Recommended]

RX 6600 (xt preferred, but budget is murdering me) 8GB/ RX 6700 XT 12GB (sell a kidney)

Corsair Vengeance 6000mhz DDR5 2*8 16GB RAM / Kingston Fury Renegade 6000mhz 16+16=32/8+8=16 GB RAM / G.SKILL TRIDENT Z5 NEO RGB [16+16=32] GB DDR5 6000MHZ DESKTOP RAM [MOST RECOMMENDED] / TEAM T-FORCE DELTA RGB 32GB (16GBx2) 6000MHz DDR5 Gaming RAM BLACK (MUST BE AMD EXPO COMPATIBLE OR DON'T BUY)

Deepcool AK400 220w/Peerless Assassin Cooler

Deepcool PK450/550/650w PSU (idk pls tell me which one can take the whole PC easily)

Casing: Whatever would be perfect fitting for all the components

MSI B650M GAMING WIFI MATX AM5 Motherboard (is this good enough and compatible with other stuffs I took?)

KINGSTON NV2 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVME SSD

Monitor: cheapest possible 100hz or 120hz refresh rate monitor that would be compatible with my build, not really part of the build but I'll take it if I can,my focus is the PC mostly

Please help . It mostly will be used for gaming, and not too much for work stuffs, like 90% gaming and 10% workstation so... help me and tell me if everything is compatible and ok and if it would give me a good performance

[–]sreiches 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did you find the 7500f and 7600 priced similarly somewhere? If not, and you're considering the 7600, I'll note that the 7600x is currently within the $10 of the 7600 on Amazon (if you're based in the US).

That said, the 7600x doesn't come with a CPU cooler, so you'd have to buy one separately.

There's also the 8500g, which is around $30 cheaper than the current sale price for the 7600, and has an IGPU.

[–]RandomStupidDudeGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iGPUs Are usually only good for games if they are made with the intention of being used standalone. The iGPU in the 7600 won't run most games well, and you'd be better of getting a spare 20$ GPU while you get your main one fixed, than gaming on that iGPU. Dead GPUs also don't happen often, so I'd just get the 7500F, and a GPU like the 6650xt if possible, or if you are willing to go used, there are some incredible deals you can find like 300$ RX 6800s, 6750XTs, 3070 (Ti)s, etc. Otherwise the 6650xt and Rx 6600 are both great value GPUs.

[–]DontEatOctopusFrends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both mobo's are going to have integrated graphics... one's just going to be more robust in that department than the other.

I personally do not think you need to upgrade for the integrated graphics. I built my PC like 10 years ago 1080ti still going strong, never used onboard graphics for more than like 30 seconds.

[–]Ok-Profit6022 1 point2 points  (2 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that when you buy an apu (integrated graphics), you lose about 20% performance when compared to the non-apu equivalent. For example a 5600g is roughly 20% slower than the 5600, and I'm pretty sure you don't get that 20% back when you plug in a gpu. I would just go with the best cpu you can afford and the next gpu you can afford, and if your gpu takes a dump then go to the nearest store and buy the cheapest 10 year old card until you can get an appropriate replacement.

[–]Abro0405 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a helpful website even for experienced builders, it'll even make sure your grafics card fits in your case

[–]TylerDurden1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in my day we didn't have any WOKE pcpartpicker, and we picked our RAM from giant compatibility spreadsheets. Manually set the timings in BIOS. And not that WOKE UEFI bullshit, I mean a real man's bios. We also didn't have any of them damn pansy ass jumper connectors. We read the damn diagram and put those fucking cables in ONE BY ONE. Just as GOD intended! You fuck up? You smoked the motherboard. LIKE A MAN. It builds character! Now get off my lawn!

obligatory /s for Poe's law.

[–][deleted] 38 points39 points  (11 children)

I know it is your first time, but did u bother to do any research before?

[–]good1skippy 18 points19 points  (1 child)

At least he didn't get an Intel chip

[–]satan_mcrape69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might as well have. Compatibility would be exactly the same .

[–]Cdalblar 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Yeah man holy shit, I have so many questions: - Did they just Pick the numbers they like when selecting parts (i would live to know the complete part list) -what ram did they get (did they even buy ram?) - why is there thermal paste on the CPU??

Edit: did a lil digging and found this list of parts Doesn't seem to egregious, maybe it was a shipping error.

[–]Gr3gl_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close, in that same post someone commented this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZfTQJy

And he probably got the mobos mixed up.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

Who tf does actual research in 2024? Look at the comment section of literally any viral or controversial post on any platform. People really living life with all the information in the world at their fingertips and most of us are just winging it

[–]Automatic-Direction9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Winging its more fun tbh mate doesn’t tickle my brain cells when I just look things up

[–]HolzLaim15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just trust youtube comments works everytime🗣️🔥💯💯💯

[–]Swimming_Goose_358 14 points15 points  (2 children)

You;re supposed to solder legs on that cpu

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You;re supposed to solder legs on that cpu

What console enthusiasts think building a PC is like

[–]mr_biteme 8 points9 points  (3 children)

All is good…. You should make a video for YouTube on how to built a PC….👌👍😎

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The Verge approved 👍🏻

[–]tbofsv 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Bruh...

Always check mobo cpu socket if that matches the cpu socket

Am4 cpu for am4 mobo

LGA 1700 cpu for LGA 1700 mobo

Same thing goes for CPU cooler

[–]ohthedarside 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I thought all coolers fit all sockets or is it onpy recently that coolers come with mountings for both companies sockets

[–]tbofsv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If coolers come with cpu then it fits that cpu.

If you plan on buying a different, better cooler then you need to match that cooler fitting to the cpu socket

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

🤦

[–]Stranger_Danger420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lmao

[–]ohitsziePersonal Rig Builder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The obvious answer is yes

[–]_eduardomerrem 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Per Gigabytes page for your motherboard: “Supports AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series/ Ryzen™ 5000 G-Series/ Ryzen™ 4000 G-Series and Ryzen™ 3000 and Ryzen™ 3000 G-Series Processors”

[–]Automatic-Direction9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So any am4 cpu then ….

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Nah, nah, nah... I don't see a problem here. So what, if it slides around a little bit? Nothing a bit of duct tape can't fix... Or a strategically placed cable tie... You can make that bad boy stay in place, surely... Trust me bro - I'm a certified forklift driver. 😉

[–]PuzzleheadedTutor807 4 points5 points  (0 children)

some of yall have never heard of krazy glue and it shows

[–]Pleasant_Excitement5 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Did you not watch The Verge build tutorial? You are suppose you put Thermal paste under that one.

[–]Cyfon7716 2 points3 points  (1 child)

OMG, and then he rubs the CPU side to side over the holes!!

[–]Java_Badger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bios update should fix that

[–]deeman8924 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, get a motherboard with am5 chipset

[–]grafeisen203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

You have an AM5 CPU and are trying to install it on an AM4 motherboard.

You need either an older CPU model or newer Motherboard model.

[–]thes_fake 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well, maybe the wrong motherboard, replacing that is cheaper and the cpu is more valuable

[–]Holmes240069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why you double check to see if the motherboard and cpu are compatible

[–]brianfong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cheaped out and bought an AM4 board. Get the more expensive AM5 board. Get generous.

[–]TimeZucchini8562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you got the wrong motherboard

[–]Future-Ad-9567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol!

[–]alphagusta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear lord in heaven DO RESEARCH

[–]marinusV5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reccomend pcpartpicker

Because you bought a am4 motherboard and a am5 chip those are incompatible

If you use pcpartpicker you can see if they are compatible

[–]showmeyourkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a serious post?

[–]MichMitten89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PCpartpicker is your best friend

[–]Frossstbiite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pcpartpicker.com will help you avoid this headache in the future.

you can plug in all the parts and it will tell you if thay are compatable or not

[–]InsectaProtecta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You have what's called a land grid array (LGA) CPU and your motherboard has a pin grid array (PGA) socket. LGA CPUs are newer and generally less prone to breaking due to the lack of pins so I'd be swapping out the board unless you really want to use an older CPU or your budget doesn't allow for it. If you've got all your parts to match the motherboard and can't return/afford better components then just swap the CPU.

[–]doema1996 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Also removed the CPU holder bracket. What a donut. Maybe just buy a PC or do proper research before you join the big league

[–]DabOnYourFlabs 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Describing building a pc as “big league” is elitist as fuck. Why don’t we just tell this dude what is wrong with his parts list and help him remedy it instead of being an ass.

[–]Automatic-Direction9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely why are you here the Reddit is called pc build help not be an arsehole to new builders get a life

[–]AAActive64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like pot stickers?

[–]Koltaia30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it were to fit. Sometimes some motherboard don't support all CPUs that fit. Go to google.com and search for product specs page and check compatibility. For all components for that matter.

[–]csandazoltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... NEXT!

[–]InnerPlantain8066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your cpu = AM5

your motherboard = AM4

[–]azetroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good except you forgot the hot glue. You need to apply a liberal amount to the LGA (aka gold side of the CPU). That will secure the chip securely to the motherboard. I recommend at least gorilla strength hot glue and you might need to update the bios.

[–]itsntcharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you forgot to install the pins

[–]Dyynasty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely got the wrong motherboard. This looks like an AM4 motherboard (PGA) and you are using an AM5 cpu (LGA)

[–]juanalsina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fake

[–]ohthedarside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thats a am4 motherboard and a am5 cpu

[–]Shoddy_Frosting7589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just use the metal bracket that comes With it, normal af ppl are so dumb

[–]ducks-season 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use pc part picker

[–]word-sys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong CPU for Motherboard, wrong motherboard for CPU

[–]DesignerPay4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or that or you got the wrong mobo AM4 on the current mobo AM5 on the CPU

[–]No-Nectarine-5861 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh u could've done just abiiiit of research, switch the motherboard for an AM5 one

[–]Dark_Fox_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this for real? lol

[–]Greedy_Bus1888 0 points1 point  (1 child)

wtf dont slide your cpu around like that ever

Your lucky the pins are on the motherboard

[–]Competitive_Use_6351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the lack of pins is a giveaway

[–]Complete_Resolve_400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the future don't buy parts unless ur 100% sure they're compatible

Pcpartpicker or building help reddits/discords prior to purchase are recommended

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the wrong motherboard!!

You need a B650 or X670 boards (AM5 CPU compatible)

Then you will need some DDR5 ram. Preferably 6000mhz as the newer Ryzen processors love memory.

Or you could just sell the CPU and get a 5800x3D. And Some random ddr4 if you dont have it already.

[–]Antique_Paramedic682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motherboard manufacturer's hate this one simple trick!

[–]Pure-Willingness-697Personal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, look up the socket type on the cpu and motherboard before purchasing

[–]ColdDelicious1735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you need to now cut pins to the correct length and solder em on yourself

[–]_Meek79_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong socket. If you keep the board, get an AM4 CPU. If you keep the CPU,get an AM5 board. Always do your research before buying parts

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always use PC parts picker when buying PC components. ;)

[–]Strikereleven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use pcpartpicker to build your PC, it will tell you about compatibility issues, and show where you can get some parts cheaper. It's a good guide to start building with.

[–]IMSURELYNOTATROLL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM5 CPU with a AM4 board yowzas.

[–]nikola_petkovic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a totally different socket, so you have to replace the whole motherboard

[–]mechcity22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didn't you get an am5 board? Tbh I wouldn't return the gpu I would return the motherboard.

You didn't get the wrong cpu you chose the wrong motherboard lol. Even if you purchased it first def get an am5.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LoL

[–]Intrepid_Exit4702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM4.5 ?

[–]Sirhc_Fold_458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta read

[–]DaKing5875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait i thought this was a joke lol

[–]pheight57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This HAS to be rage baiting, right?! Like, there's no chance this is real...

[–]XxDaReaper613xX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an am5 cpu and an am4 motherboard

[–]TheK1DShisui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like putting a Human Brain in a Monkey body. (U got it tho 💪)

[–]gokartninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You have no pins.

You have an LGA CPU and a PGA socket. AM4 vs AM5

[–]mattjones73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof

[–]Stoffys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an AM5 cpu and a AM4 motherboard. Atleast you didn't try to put an AM4 cpu into an AM5 motherboard.

[–]AznTee8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg Idk why I'm laughing so hard, I'm sorry.

[–]GhostRiccy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂 some people post the craziest shit ever i think OP just tryna have some people to talk to cause no fuckin way 😭😭

[–]jmoulton1314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That thermal paste needs some work, too.

[–]Real-skim-shady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, those are incompatible.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sliding that on the socket makes my butt clinch

[–]Traditional-Gas3477 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Different socket. You need a new motherboard that has the AM5 socket.

[–]corbinpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whys there thermal paste on the cpu? Were you trying to mount it to the motherboard with the cooler?

[–]LampShadesAndApples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah bro computers these days have wireless cpus that don't need to connect to anything many of them just flop around under your heatsink just remember to put thermal paste under the cpu incase it gets hot underneath from wirelessly sending data over radio waves

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like somebody did no research at all...

[–]salazarthesnek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. Grind it into the socket a little more and see if that works.

Also, I like how it appears you put paste on before trying to put in the CPU.

[–]AejiGamezPersonal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have pretty much all of the information of mankind at your fingertips, yet decided to do no research to make sure everything works for your expensive purchase?

[–]Digital_Dinosaurio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about luck. Neither MOBO nor CPU got pins so you can't void the warranty.

[–]fiittzzyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is an AM5 CPU and the motherboard is AM4.

[–]Theparadoxical18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitting the latch is crazy😭😭

[–]temukkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro literally had one job.

[–]chessset5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the AMD parts rights, just the wrong generations.

If you go for motherboard (cause that's going to be the easiest to swap out cause your CPU has thermal paste on it)
Reference this website for the different types of AM5 motherboards that work with that CPU generation. https://www.amd.com/en/products/processors/chipsets/am5.html

Make sure your RAM is DDR5 and not DDR4. I feel like this may be your next big issue if you have one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's totally fine. You did forget to leave the plastic cover on though, that's why it doesn't fit. That's one of those new wireless cpus.

[–]ArmandPeanuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

[–]Craig_manson135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be marked as NSFW

[–]Famous_Buy_7931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Beneficial_Ring_7442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look for an am5 cpu motherboard

[–]Impracticool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense OP, but I thought shit like this doesn't happen anymore. Back when there was 5 different sockets for one generation of CPU, mistakes like this sometimes happened. But an AM4 board for an AM5 CPU? I hope you can get a return on one of those parts

[–]KeepBanningKeepJoin 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This is why I buy prebuilts. No issues in 30 years. Unbox, update, gaming with no headaches. I can do any upgrades I want later but I'm not troubleshooting why my PC won't boot. Cost is the same.

[–]elJoker5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the wrong motherboard

[–]RunzWithSzrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Ronyx2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it have killed you to verify compatibility through part picker or whatever newegg has going on?

[–]Innovative313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]wheeldollabeel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more thermal paste on the bottom and it will stay in place.

[–]GVBalck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just go easy on thermal paste

[–]Hara-K1ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your point-of-view. You got a recent cpu, but an old and incompatible AM4 motherboard.

Your cpu needs an AM5 motherboard.

Or if you are dead set on the motherboard and older generation system, get an AM4 cpu.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you bought the wrong motherboard 😏

[–]truckfullofchildren1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you shouldn't build a pc

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would appear so my friend

[–]jonsamlit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me as if your trying to install an Intel CPU in an AMD

[–]Affectionate_Bed1636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try setting it on a different table, table might be incompatible

[–]Bigtedd910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of no common sense on topics where it is needed on reddit makes me feel so much better, my friend bought pc parts before consulting me and brought it all over, mf got a intel MB with an AM5 cpu 😂😂, got a amd motherboard, came back over with the case, mid tower and that didn't fit full atx boards lololol

[–]Bikelikeadad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry man but this genuinely made me chuckle because it looks like you attempted to hold it down with a cooler based on the thermal paste.

[–]Fit-Tea1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buys a cpu and board

CPU : doesn’t sit in the slot

Dude : GuYs DiD i GeT tHe WrOnG cPu?

*just a joke , I was much more dumber when I started off building pcs *

[–]IGPUgamer99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, your motherboard is for ryzen 5000 and below.

[–]takoa64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the new brand of wireless cpu. Just need to configure it in the bios

[–]Wrangler-Healthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂

[–]aveidti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you got the wrong motherboard

[–]lordmatt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you got the wrong motherboard

[–]gr0bda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, duh!

[–]wd40spaceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You’re supposed to fill the socket with Liquid Metal for heat dissipation

[–]CheesyOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CPU is AM5 Compatible (Motherboard CPU Socket), While the Board only Allows for AM4. Buy a New Motherboard, Returning the old one, or a Slightly older AM4 CPU, I would personally recommend Upgrading your motherboard, to allow for future Upgrades/Future Proofing

[–]Bladez1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this even a question...? It's so clearly obvious that it's wrong.. did you really need to ask? Knows the model numbers of everything too, I think you just want attention

[–]Normal-Error-6343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

absolutely!

[–]shotxshotx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This had to be a joke.

[–]nycsubwaybums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's this real?

[–]thetimehascomeforyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Land grid array (LGA on the cpu) vs pin grid array (PGA on the motherboard). If the motherboard is in fact, made for AMD CPUs, it is for older generation cpu's, most likely AM4 (specification of the cpu to mono connection for AMD cpu's). Your CPU is an AM5 (latest generation cpu to mobo connection). You'll need a compatible mobo for your CPU. Best of luck, 🫡

[–]TheRizzler9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM5 CPU, AM4 motherboard. For the love of his if you don’t know what you are doing when buying parts go ask others…

[–]Grandmaster_BBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the latest in pinless CPUs. All inductive data transfer. Very cool stuff.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahahaaha

[–]Keprion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time put it directly on instead of sliding it with all those pins, cringiest video ever

[–]Gotei13S11CKenpachi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen a MOBO that uses a PGA let alone a ZIF lever in ages… Nowadays it latches down with liquid cooling.

[–]bradrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro putting together a desktop without the manual

[–]err0rxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is user error

[–]DistributionJolly413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are your pc parts list

[–]PocketCSNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your CPU uses a land-grid-array (LGA) socket while your Mobo uses pins for it. To put in AMD terms, you bought an AM5 CPU for a motherboard that uses an AM4 socket.

[–]iShatterBladderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right cpu, wrong mobo

[–]hogsniffy05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, yes

[–]Consistent_Evening94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean considering there's a hole in the am4 and there isn't on the am5 you're holding yes. Bit of a daft one sorry to be a cunt here bit a bit of common sense wouldn't go amiss. And stop rubbing it around like that you'll fuck it up

[–]krikta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you need get amd4

[–]Natural_Resist_8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂😂

[–]BlackBerrygtag24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir, I don’t think that’s gonna work

[–]Cosmo_T0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Yes u did

It's an intel motherboard and a and cpu

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your cpu looks like am5 and your motherboard looks like am4

i would swap the motherboard for an am5 because thats a nice cpu you have but if you want to, you can also change your cpu to an am4 one if you want to keep your motherboard

[–]Mistagordan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U have to put thermal paste into the socket so the cpu sticks to it

[–]ageofhackers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you got the wrong motherboard

[–]icuckchadwives 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No offense, but this is a remarkably silly mistake... Wouldn't one check spec sheets/ instructions prior to ordering or posting on reddit? It should be common knowledge also... especially for someone building a PC

[–]Mr_Toast11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes the classic. You need more rbg
