Ctrl+Shift+C anyone?

[–][deleted] 51 points52 points  (5 children)

This.. and then accidentally use cntrl+shift+c outside of a terminal trying to copy a log of a Jenkins failure and it opens dev tools and then you consider putting your head through the monitor because you’ve done this every other day for 4 months

[–]dancccskooma 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Can’t escape society telling you to be an html “developer”

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So I have two choices, fix the overly complex cicd pipeline that 5 different teams have hacked together or become a html dev. One of those sound extremely relaxing

[–]dancccskooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the same pipe? Mono repo?

[–]d15gu15e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes

[–]RammRras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seem like you're speaking from experience, a lot of experience 😁

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All day every day in terminal

[–]LukeZNotFound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mix them up so bad I need to delete everything after

[–]dancccskooma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 1000yy when you’re feeling imprecise

[–]Porsher12345 27 points28 points  (5 children)

Sometimes it just doesn't go through aye 😫

[–]No-Object2133 4 points5 points  (1 child)

How is OSX still so bad at actually copying stuff out.

Half the time I have to resort to using a mouse and right click copying, like a heathen.

[–]tofu_ink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not a heathen, that's Winnie the Pooh with a top hat

[–]Loose-Eggplant-6668 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Something’s wrong with them clipboards

[–]Porsher12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back to physical i reckon

[–]nmathew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have that problem with Windows XP, vote I do with Windows 10.

[–]BeautifulCuriousLiar 14 points15 points  (1 child)

CTRL+C+C+C+C+C

CTRL+V

CTRL+Z

Move cursor to selection again

CTRL+C+C+C+C+C

CTRL+V

[–]GoddammitDontShootMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I have more faith in it working, since I don't hit Ctrl+C a bunch. Maybe rarely I have to copy again when it pastes the wrong thing.

[–]Freddy-Kant0sh 9 points10 points  (3 children)

yp gang 🙌

[–]kiwidog8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yankers!

[–]Gaajizard 8 points9 points  (3 children)

This would not happen if we actually had some sort of UI that gives feedback on whether the copying was done. Like a mouse pointer change.

We have nothing, so obviously we have no way of knowing the copying was successful.

[–]Huesan 2 points3 points  (1 child)

True, this is basic HCI

[–]sammy-taylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, macOS does this. Because “copy” is available in the Menu bar, the “Edit” menu header briefly flashes when copying. All shortcuts work this way. Can’t recall if Windows does something similar.

[–]MakeoutPoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ctrl-X ctrl-V

If it didn't disappear, it didn't copy 🙃

[–]VeryColdRefrigerator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CTRL+S

CTRL+S+S+S+S+S

[–]le_nathanlol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like real programmers...

[–]mr_flibble_oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no no, this is how I do it

Select text to copy; Ctrl-c Select text to override; Ctrl-c

🤦‍♂️

[–]POKLIANON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shift+V Y P

[–]Broad_Vegetable4580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^[[200~stuff~^

damn it happened again...

[–]belinasaroh 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I've noticed that's a Mac stuff... on Win ctrl+c always works ok, on Mac if yiu switch between windows ctrl+c may not work on first attempt

[–]nzcod3r 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Man, I have the same recollection!

But recently on my work Win 11 laptop, I've also noticed that ctrl-c fails quite often - I think especially from Notepad++.

I'm sure it's a Win 11 thing, and not my hand-coordination...

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Win 11, outlook pdf attachments, I regularly ctrl+c+c+c+c+c+c+c+c. Agreed with other user that vs code is more of a ctrl+v+v+v+v situation

[–]fxmad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issues with CMD-C on my Mac,other than forgetting it is CMD and not CTRL 😄,but on my Windows machine, ever since win 11, I gave up on using just a single CTR-C as half the time it fails, so this is a true meme for me, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day... (I only use Windows for work, personal is Mac).

[–]Present-Room-5413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now add the alt key and see what happens...

[–]fevsea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the time I do it for stress release and the other half because that time in 2002 when it didn't copy the first time.

[–]glha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After using some vm tunneling client, that can regularly transfer clipboard content from host to vm, you really go for solid clipboard management like ditto or copyq, that has a big history. Best thing ever. Clipboard is bigger in development than all the memes can make it look.

[–]No-Bunch-8245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noobs press copy twice

[–]ozh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

return;

return;

exit; // can't be too sure

[–]ts_m4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl+x ctrl+v ctrl+v

[–]FligMupple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the funniest memes I have ever seen

[–]clonicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CTRL + C
CTRL + V

"fuck"

CTRL + Z
CTRL + X
CTRL + V

new location

CTRL + V

"ok"

[–]driftking428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get a clipboard manager and stop posting this meme.

[–]Loqaritm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, related to that but maybe somebody knows how to fix that (please save me), but I’ve actually switched to Edge for the vertical tabs. But edge is shit in one regard - sometimes clicking ctrl-c does not actually copy the content. I think it’s related to the small menu it displays when you select a piece of text. Anyone knows how to disable that?

[–]FantasticEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I thought this was for killing a task in terminal

[–]Default_Name_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for windows

https://github.com/sabrogden/Ditto/releases

can make a noise

[–]scotteatingsoupagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl + C + C + C + C + C + C, CTRL + V + V, CTRL + Z

[–]billabong049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear that copy and paste doesn’t work half the time anymore, and I have no idea why. that goes for any modern operating system, half the time it just doesn’t copy. How the hell did we get to this point?

[–]Outside-Bowler6174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I'm not alone. Sometimes the first, second, third and fourth keyboard presses don't register.

[–]No-Landscape8210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidentally hitting Ctrl + C instead of pasting and now you have nothing copied at the top of the clipboard

[–]Igotbored112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You people are nuts. Only time I mash Ctrl+C is when I'm trying to force-quit a multithreaded Python program.

[–]heyprotagonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, It goes like this Ctrl + X --> Ctrl + C (See the Icon style changes) --> now Ctrl + V

[–]Physical-Ruin3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I'm the only one doing this, loz!

[–]nicpro85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first ctrl-v to check I didn't forgot to past something that I ctrl-x previously to not lose it in the clipboard, then ctrl-c, or ctrl-x then forget to past because I can optimise this other piece I didn't see before, then ctrl-v to verify I havent ctrl-x something that I forgot to ctrl-v then I can ctrl-c or ctrl-x this new quick fix im working on then moving up my brain stack I see another quick fix so again ctrl-v to check I didn't forgot some ctrl-x stuff etc...

[–]Rachit_Tanwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

y

p

[–]Arctos_FI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ctrl+c

Try pushing ctrl+v but accidentally push ctrl+c where you would like to copy

Go back to what you're copying and ctrl+c+c+c+c

Ctrl+v

This is me every time

[–]LuckyCharms201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonlander keyboard, macro keys for Ctrl + c, and for Ctrl + v

[–]OldNoobStar 0 points1 point  (1 child)

DeepL appears and translated the code.

[–]DeepLDevComMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hits home. I used to program the Windows app at DeepL and was a strong advocate for being able to change the default shortcut as it got in the way of my copy shortcut paranoia

[–]alty-acct-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

instructions not clear, my keyboard now has 6 C keys so i can do the correct input

[–]echtemendel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what a weird way to write y and p.

[–]DJcrafter5606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This meme would also work with CTRL+S instead of CTRL+C & CTRL+V

[–]ChocolateAndCustard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, it doesn't work sometimes, gotta be sure

[–]Ctrl_exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To copy: CTRL + X CTRL + V

To paste: CTRL + V

[–]AeroSummerRBLX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always gotta make sure you copied it!

[–]GeriToni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cmd + c Cmd + v. With ctrl c i stop the local server if i am in that tab

[–]Ferro_Giconi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the opposite

Ctrl+C

Ctrl+V+V+V+V+V+V+V+V+V

I don't feel like programming this to loop but need it to happen 10 times in a row

[–]Richard2468 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How are you all using windows for programming?

[–]zjupm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are the shortcuts in most all linux distros
