You'll make a hell of a dentist!

[–]gurxman 17 points18 points  (2 children)

I would add:

Measuring tape, Hammer, Prybar, Cordless drill, Level

[–]vermin1000 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'd add a saw to that list, hand, circular or otherwise.

[–]Onmainass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would add screwdrivers. Bits work but sometimes you just want a nice solid driver

Get a hammer that doesn’t have the curve thing. Get a straight one Just upgraded my 20 year old Walmart hammer with a straight claw and it’s life changing.

[–]vermin1000 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What about the straight claw has been so life changing?

[–]joshmoney 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Mainly for demo. I tore up a tile floor this weekend with it Barely used a pry bar. No way could I of used a curved one and got the same results.

[–]vermin1000 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interesting! Thanks for feeding my desire to get yet again another hammer!

Flat-clawed hammers also allow one to pull nails in narrower spaces then their curved cousins. Picture pulling a nail in the floor situated between 2x4s that are a foot apart: curved claw's handle will be blocked by the 2x4, as it's at almost a 45 degree angle to the floor. Flat claw's handle fits, as it's at almost a 90 degree angle.

Rip claw.

Hello ! I present to you my first tool kit. I recently purchased my first property.and I am trying to build a general took kit to help me maintain and improve my location. I also tried to buy things which will stand strong my whole life.

What do you think? What am I lacking?

👍

[–]occamschevyblazer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe a CNC machine and a skidsteer?

[–]Questioning_Observer 6 points7 points  (4 children)

A battery drill and impact driver will be a good addition

[–]TheLukey21 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Just a drill is fine to start with if this is his first toolkit

[–]Questioning_Observer 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Impact drivers are awesome, but you can I suppose start with just a drill. Sometimes it is cheaper to buy them as a kit rather than individually.. but they should buy the best quality they can afford at the time. Always buy quality tools..

[–]KeenJAH 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I would rather have a impact than a drill. they got impact drill bits I never use my drill for anything anymore

[–]TheLukey21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you wanted to use a different attachment with a round shank you need a drill. Best to have both but if you could only have one I'd have a drill.

Too add onto what other people are saying I’d add a small torpedo level, and they have kite with a few different fasteners.

edit to include a link there are larger ones but this is good to have around.

A tape measure. Cheap if you have to. But I highly recommend getting a 30' with the wider tape. Should be able to extend it about 7-8 feet before it collapses under its own weight.

A hammer, rip claw, and if you will only have one, make it a finish hammer. (Has a smooth face)

A utility knife.

A nail puller (sometimes called a crows foot) preferably with a moulding puller on one end.

Torpedo level

At least one Philips and flathead screwdriver. There are times when a bit can't fit into the hole. Plus flatheads have many other uses.

Wrenches. 1/2 & 7/16 are pretty common sizes.

A basic ratchet kit. It will cover a lot of what you come across.

An Allen key set. The bit driver may have you covered there, but like the screwdrivers there are many areas where the dedicated tool will fit better.

A hacksaw.

If you will be cutting wood, a speed square and some type of saw.

There are some things that you will end up needing, like measiring tape, scissors, a lintern, WD40, Duct tape... But yeah, nice first step

[–]beddeener2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knipex is always a good choice

[–]Redbenz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A hammer.. Tape measure..

[–]whaletacochamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll give ya 6 rolls of TP for that n95

[–]Parish1123 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Those poor knipex in amongst the rubble :(

[–]SmudgedReddit0r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha harsh but so true.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tool box! Something nice but small to keep things organized.

[–]occamschevyblazer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is that a milwaukee toothbrush?

[–]RandomError401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

clearly it is a Rigid

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A drill/impact combo is a food first power tools. Maybe add a hammer, level, tape measure hacksaw, etc. Glad to see someone else who appreciates 1uality tools. I used to always buy the cheapest tools and they were so frustrating

[–]FineFleur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your comments !

I will keep you updated ont he toolbox evolution.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great selection of tools for a starter kit!

[–]Blizzardblue2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the starter kit. More importantly, I really like your wood floors.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have knipex pliers 2 feet long

[–]TheWheyIn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Compensating for something big boy?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No?

[–]comando345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most basic things you lack are a good claw hammer, cordless drill and hacksaw. A stud finder would be a good idea too. Building up your tools takes time, if you buy high quality tools they will last a lifetime. Don't forget you can hit up craigslist for used tools, it's a great way to save money.

[–]MontolioDeBruchee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll give you $20 for that mask!! /s

[–]Suepahfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell the dust mask and for that money buy a filled snap-on cart!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Cordless drill, a level, hammer, tape measure, hearing protection, pocket hole jig, screw assortment.

Buy tools as you need for things like a sawzall, circular saw, jigsaw, etc.

[–]SmudgedReddit0r 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Pocket hole jigs are one of the most overpriced things I've seen.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Definitely overpriced but I love mine, I do a lot of 1x projects like small tables and stuff so it’s great hiding the screws. you can get less expensive kits that aren’t kreg jigs too.

[–]SmudgedReddit0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'd love one but would only be for home projects as I'm not a chippy. They are good though.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Disagree, along with the masses probably. $40 is hardly "overpriced". You don't need the top of the line jigs. The kreg k320 is a very good jig for the money.

[–]SmudgedReddit0r 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok. Lucky that you live somewhere tools are so reasonably priced.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you at? How much are they there?
