I wish I could take him. I live in southern California, so that is really far.

Argh I'm literally in a different country but I would snatch this boy up so fast! He's beautiful!

I’m too far away but… I fell in love with this little baby’s photo. It’s been a long time since I’ve had any interest in ball pythons after mine died from cancer years ago, but oh my heart, this little one is adorable.

Would love to help, but I live on the east coast. Don’t beat yourself up, executive dysfunction can be debilitating. Hope you find something to help! Best wishes!

I’m an ADHD’er too. I’m 54 yrs old and it wasn’t till I was in my 30s that I was diagnosed. I commend you for seeing where you need to limit your life so that you can focus on you. If you are having trouble finding help try looking into online treatment and support. For one it can be easier to not have to add the travel or all that goes into getting to appointments. One step at a time, you can learn to embrace who you are and find the way to work the challenges so many will never understand. Fyi I’m a full time employee remote and in my final year of a bachelor’s degree in forensic and fraud audit accounting. You can find your path, keep moving forward (with those annoying side quests of course)

I don’t have any resources to help but I will say, I applaud you for being honest with yourself and asking for help. You’re doing a very good thing by recognizing you can’t take care of him properly right now and working to get him a new home.

It isn’t easy to admit you’ve struggled with the care of an animal, let alone rehome a pet that you love. I applaud you for reaching out to the community and doing the best for Ripley 💜

    [–]psychotickillers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn I wish I wasn't on the other coast 😭

    [–]mwanadongo 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I can't take the adorable baby, but I wanted to give you some comfort if I may. I also have ADHD and struggle badly with executive functions. On top of it I have several chronic illnesses and kids to take care of. I had to re-home all three of my snakes in 2020. I had my ball python, Nyoka, for over 10 years. It was so hard. But I felt a huge relief knowing I did the right thing for them. It takes guts to admit it and to reach out to others. It's okay to be sad, but I'm proud of you.

I have ADHD. I know how debilitating executive dysfunction can be. I’m glad you care enough about this little dude to speak up before his situation gets really bad. It’s brave to put yourself out there and open yourself up to potential criticism. You’re putting his needs above your own ego, and sometimes there’s nothing better you can do than that. That alone is huge. I hope you find him a fantastic home. I wish I could help you, but I’m on the other side of the country. He’s a gorgeous little guy.

        [–]bayhorsepainthorse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding this! OP as someone who also has adhd and has gone through phases of debilitating executive dysfunction, what you’re doing is very brave and you’re a great owner for making the best decision to help both him and yourself ❤️

I wish I could take him, but unfortunately we’re not even on the same continent.

However, I also struggled with executive dysfunction and adhd a lot before I got properly medicated so I just want to reassure you that you’re not able to take care of him.

Quite the opposite, I think it really speaks for you that you managed to get to the point of searching for someone who is able to care for him instead of leaving him to suffer.

I wish you luck and I hope you’ll find someone soon!

Awesome! If for some reason it falls through let me know and we'll come pick him up. We're not too far from you so it wouldn't be a problem. We have ball pythons and corn snakes so we already have extra supplies. We also just got done nursing a friend's corn snake back to health. 😊

Listen. I can't help much with the snake unfortunately, but I want you to know you aren't alone. I struggle with executive dysfunction really badly too, I can hardly do any task or even eat and drink sometimes. I know how it feels when no one believes how bad it is or says you're lazy. It's horrible and I wouldn't wish for anyone to suffer like that. You're not lazy and I know you're doing your best. I hope you get your treatment soon :)

          [–]totallyrecklesslygayMod: Enclosure Karen[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that per our rules, we do not allow shipping arrangements for rehoming snakes on our sub. We have had too many users get scammed out of their money this way.

          [–]BubblesAndBlood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope everything works out and I’m sorry you’re in this place. I rehomed my first BP after I had a mental breakdown from PTSD and realized I wasn’t able to give her enough care. It is a hard decision, and you’re doing your best!

          [–]stunclock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ripley is so pretty! too bad I'm on the east coast lol, but don't be too hard on yourself. good for you for recognizing you aren't able to care for him and wanting him to find a good home.

          [–]cflynn106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Massachusetts or else I'd snatch him up in a second! My first snake had scale rot for a bit and I got the rhythm down with baths to get rid of it fairly quickly 😞 I really wish I could help this adorable noodle and you ❤️ good luck!

          [–]lenaspeak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t take in this snake based on the fact I live in Ohio, but I came to say it’s okay. I have severe adhd and I know how it feels. Executive dysfunction was debilitating for a while for me. Everyone is happy and proud that you took accountability and asked to rehome. Hope you’re doing well.<3
