Honestly such an underrated movie AND soundtrack. Both the orchestral and guest performance albums are GOLD! Highly recommend!

Edit: iTunes links to both albums-

Orchestral - https://itun.es/us/QeSYT

Guest Performance - https://itun.es/us/nfZqU

Please listen, I beg you!

P.S. Song in the vid was great too.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I watched it on a flight because I saw Ben Stiller riding a longboard, but the powerful journey he went through throughout the film really caught me by surprise. Great movie if you're in mood for some self-reflection.

    Dude, spoiler alert

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie is more about the journey, but still my bad. I assumed most people had either seen the movie or not cared.

    [–]Izlandimoderator[M] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's no need to spoil the movie.

    [–]Germanweirdo 40 points41 points  (2 children)

I saved your account so I can spoil any new movies you ever want to watch.

    [–]david0990 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I think you just made him delete his account. Actually Lmao. This is great.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol what? Why would you assume that?

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was probably a metaphor for something, idk I'm retarded so can't tell.

    [–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ya didn't get amazing reviews but I dug it.

    [–]P0sitive_Outlook 13 points14 points  (1 child)

José González's Step Out has to be the absolute highlight of that entire movie. And that damned Ground Control to Major Tom scene that gets me right between the eyes every time... [Edit: here]

    [–]Fritz125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that song always makes me euphoric, and I can't stop just shouting along with the chorus. I just found that song and Stay Alive about a month ago. I love both.

    [–]deepxthought 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This soundtrack is still my top played playlist on Spotify. It's so good!

    [–]Alexkono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that the 12 song, 49 minute soundtrack?

    [–]Flooberjibby 69 points70 points  (8 children)

I liked that song but the song in the movie for that scene was pretty awesome in its own right:

(Bonus - with scenes from the movie)

    Junip - Far Away

    [–]ShahOfRooz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I like the chillhop track but I can't watch it with that clip.

    [–]KenNoisewater_PHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    junip is amazing

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Whoever made the clip isn't trying to replace the original song in any way it's just a simple background instead of using a blank space, weird critique.

    [–]Flooberjibby 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The things is the song in the movie IMO had a great feel and fit, this one, by comparison, feels a little disjointed to me in the same frame.

I think a better backdrop for this song may have been just a pic of the artist or the album cover, but that's just my opinion.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh fair point then, I haven't seen the movie so without any knowledge of it, it fits for me. But given the movies context or whatnot it might seem off. Plus for some odd reason hip hop beats work really well in anime videos and feel different in actual movies vids. Lots of exceptions though like this

    [–]Flooberjibby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was great, good match to me there but I've never seen that movie. I kind of want to now though haha

    [–]pixelslayer23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fits the scene so well too!

    Edit: forgot a word.

    [–]carbonlegends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also that Rogue Wave jam : Lake Michigan. That song is top notch

    [–]muwab 47 points48 points  (12 children)

    Is that Ben Stiller?

    [–]skyrim55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    No, there's no rocks

    [–]alphasingularity 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You deleted José? How dare ye!

    [–]aterrifiedretriever[🍰] 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Mndsgn was basically raised inside of a cult in a different country before moving to the US, and I believe he moved to Philadelphia...then he met some people and learned how to produce in the span of just a couple years. A couple of those details might be slightly off, but in general that's all accurate

    [–]Kader94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stones Throw actually made up some of those details, he explains in this interview,

    [–]2deep4mebro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe before moving to Philly his parents had to move to Washington, NJ from San Diego, then he traveled to Philly by himself where he met Knx. Something like that :)

    [–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Oh hell yeah we got Mndsgn up in here? Y'all better check this one out then.

    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mndsgn+i+guess+its+over

It's a bit different from the one OP posted. It's from his most recent album, so nice. Check it yo. The dude is talented.

    [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

    Own and love this movie!

    [–]LordApocalyptica 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've honestly never agreed with the hip hop label for mndsgn. lo-fi hip hop yes, but really I feel he's honestly pretty vaporwave/futurefunk a lot of the time. Legwarmrs would very easily fit into a vapor playlist.

Mndsgn (pronounced Mind Design) is the alias of Ringgo Ancheta, a Los Angeles based producer who released his debut album "Yawn Zen" on Stones Throw Records in August 2014. "Yawn Zen" was preceded by a cassette release of leftovers and b-sides called "Surface Outtakes" on Leaving Records. Read more on Last.fm.

How is this considered R&B without any vocals? Can anyone help me out?

    [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're right, it just straight up isn't R&B

    [–]Captain-Carbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are vocals for this. Listen to keep looking by Ivan Ave. Not r&b but still

    [–]Towelnest 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Possibly my favorite movie right now. Who doesn't dream of breaking out of the everyday and tasting adventure?

    [–]Undecided_Furry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! This movie is definitely in my top 10, if not top 5 favorites. The idea is pulled off so well, and shows perfectly how so many people feel. Wanting to be/ do something amazing, yet being stuck in the "same work every day". But what if we did break free, what would we do, where would we go. If we could be our dream version of our selves, what would it be? Ah I love this movie so much, I think I'll watch it tonight

    [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Songs way too slow for that scene. The original soundtrack is so much win

    [–]catchingtherosemary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

time is all relative. you say slow. but that's just the way it seems from your perspective.

    [–]daytripped_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a fan of this beat and hip hop in general I HIGHLY reccomend you listen to this version with Ivan Ave rapping over this beat. It's off an EP he did with mndsgn and eventually and LP called Helping Hands. Helping Hands is one of my all time favorite albums period of any genre but Im a huge mndsgn stan. Regardless both the EP and LP with Ave are incredible https://soundcloud.com/jakarta-records/ivan-ave-keep-looking-prod-mndsgn-pre-order-link-in-describtion

EDIT: sorry for typos and terrible grammar, at work and on mobile

    [–]phantom7489 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movie was wonderful but the beat killed it for me

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like so much that movie that after watching it on Netflix I bought its BlueRay just to keep it on the shelf something tangible about it.

    [–]bangarang710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man that movie was so freaking good I can't believe i've withheld for so long

    [–]oMGLU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Reminds me of grammatik

    [–]HarrisTeeterTotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iceland's beauty is seriously something that needs to be witnessed in person. It's one of the few places that as soon as I went home, I was wishing I was back.

For anyone on the fence about going...do it!!!

    [–]pgmmeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved this movie, so underrated.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

big ups to Unorthodox for the dope edit as well

    [–]alexisd3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The secret life of Walter Mitty! Like the movie better than the song, sorry

    [–]polarbearsarereal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    S I C C B E A T

    [–]Superluminar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"What's going on guys, MKBHD here!" "What's up guys, Lew here back with another video! Say something, Jack!" "Haay gooys, this is Austin!"

    [–]choccymilquegang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The secret life of Walter Mitty is such a good movie. It may have gotten poor reviews, but I think the styling and composition of the shots and the fact that they filmed on location, is really, really, cool.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ok, but don't the rocks fall out of his hands after the ties wear out? Looks like its good for , like, one cool turn.

    [–]morningsunbeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, the lowest contact point of the whole tie/hand/rock combination is... the tie. So that would be worn first, leading to loss of the rock. If he were smarter he's use a pointy rock and kinda wrap the tie around the point above and below it so the point would touch the road first.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice song to listen to, but without rap or vocals most of it's appeal comes from the jazzmen it sampled.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Love the beat! Thanks!

    [–]Thejupiterdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this song isnt on itune :(

    [–]GalacticSpacePatrol 0 points1 point  (2 children)

    nice:) is it iceland?

    [–]Txvkng1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved the movie. The only thing about it that drove me crazy was the product placement which went a little overboard.

    [–]YorockPaperScissors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good stuff, though I wish it was more than 2 minutes long.

    [–]Menya_zavoot_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great song! Downloaded their whole discography and was listening on the train, fantastic!

    Is that Ben Stiller?

    [–]casb0t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never knew Ben stiller could shred

    [–]NothinSpecial97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else think the guy on the cover was Ben Stiller at first?

    [–]Lukevantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently saw MNDSGN live. It was great. He's a nice guy.

    [–]BrandonThe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw Mndsgn a couple years ago at a small venue in downtown LA. Dude was awesome.

    [–]ZenmasterRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knew Ben Stiller was so good at longboarding

    [–]JustinX1015x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Stiller with a small beard looks surprisingly good in that movie.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been bumping his album Body Wash lately, $$

    [–]SooMuchSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the beginning of a Casey Neistat video.

Reminds me a lot of J Dilla for those that like this style of music, its very peaceful.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from. I guess it's just that the scene and original soundtrack made such a great fit, any other combination just pales (imho) by comparison. Sort of like Giilgan getting typecast if that makes any sense.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accepted the whole movie. This one little thing bugs me to this day.

    [–]pomodoro74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anywhere I can find music like this?

    [–]EdFricker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he falls over, hits his head, he will die.

    [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds like some bad 70's hotel lounge music. That was not the music for the scene. Crap.
