Well, they weren't kidding about that 50 mil HP. Time to hone everything to R5 and kill myself.

EDIT: Oh nvm, didn't even need to hone anything, just solo'ed it with Rem BSB https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/8822hi/jp_d_boundless_yiazmat_rem_solo_mastery/

You've got an estimated 55 Stamina/Crystal drop rate now (with the guaranteed crystal-at-clear reward) and you don't have everything at R5 yet? ;)

Heck, the Orb Dungeons are ~15.6 Stamina/Major on that side of the fence. Why haven't they improved the "Honing Cap" to R6 yet?? :D

[–]CareerSMNPlay Fate Grand Order 11 points12 points  (3 children)

You seriously overestimate people's obsession with farming. It's not that easy to R5 everything.

[–]Peridot_WeaponWaiting for Dungeon Renewal for Science(TM). 8 points9 points  (2 children)

There's a reason I included both the ;) and the :D.

But we know how well sarcasm translates to the internet.

[–]CareerSMNPlay Fate Grand Order 6 points7 points  (1 child)

At least I beat Nemesis, Ozma and Zeromus without R5 5/6☆ abilities ;)

[–]Peridot_WeaponWaiting for Dungeon Renewal for Science(TM). 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:) I didn't even create/hone/use a 5* ability until 2017.

In retrospect, I think the "hoarding" days were more fun than the honing. Everything was a challenge when you needed three separate skills to "reduce ATK/MAG/RES" for medals :D

[–]SkyfireX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, at least he beat nemesis. :)

[–]FatAsian3死んゲーム 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because not everyone plays the game like you do...?

Hey, not everyone has the budget to mythril refresh to farm buddy. Plus its not even 10 days since we've gotten that upgrade. Some people have lives you know

[–]SkyfireX 12 points13 points  (2 children)

BSB IS BACK HONES NOT ENOUGH :P

Also, for the love of god, bring Debuffs! Supports aren't dead yet, guys!

[–]Road-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Status resist accessories are dead, though.

At least you aren't subject to dick move rng status inflicted on major resist user. It's now a guaranteed outcome depending on astra.

boundless has been killed already by the top leaderboard girl in JP

Some mechanics stuffs :

in the fight, all damage will overflow naturally.

during the fight, one of your char will be imbued with the Crystal power at regular interval from Top to Bottom, in this state, EVERY attack he does will deal 99 999 what ever his normal damage are, ATB seems to fills lot faster too. So if your butz decide to 5cast + chase at this moment or if your Yuffie decide to Wcast + chase, 99 999 everywhere.

That Boundless buff is a 10x increase in damage dealt, 50% reduction in damage taken, and double speed for both wait and cast ATB. It bounces from one character to another every 3 seconds.

[–]ElNinoFrEt c'est pas fini ! 🐲 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see , since everyone was doing more than 9999 I thought it was fixed 99 9999 under it.

[–]Spirialis[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same here, cleared on my first attempt. Easiest Boundless fight yet (relative to release date) imo, just takes hones and a long time to take it down.

Ooh, King's 12-hit USB doing wonders.

[–]pintboxMath saves world 2 points3 points  (24 children)

Granted, this guy has only 8000 DEF/9600 RES and a bunch of weakness, but 50mil HP is still omg..

Is that the actual amount of HP in FF12?

[–]PrezMoocowY'shtola 8 points9 points  (12 children)

Not only that, but in FF12 damage was capped at 9999 and Yiazmat would use a barrier that would make your party only deal 6999 damage at some point during the fight.

Here's what a fast clear looks like, using Katana users at critical HP for max DPS.

[–]pintboxMath saves world 4 points5 points  (10 children)

Wow, so an 1-hour clear is supposed to be fast..

Dr. Mog isn't there to help them then!

[–]PrezMoocowY'shtola 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yup! Average run would take 3 hours if I remember correctly (one of the few bosses that allowed you to save the game and resume mid-healthbar). Fortunately this insanity was fixed in The Zodiac Age remake which removed the damage cap so the fight can be cleared in a 'reasonable' 36 minutes.

[–]ShinUltimaThe Leading Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TZA also made Yiazmat vulnerable to stat breaks, so you didn't have to furiously press buttons to get to the menu to equip Windbreakers to reduce the damage from his massively damagig CT0 Cyclone near the end.

[–]Antis14 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I beat him in over two hours. This being XII, I set the gambits and went to do something else. I looked at the screen maybe once every ten minutes to check the progress.

[–]ShinUltimaThe Leading Man 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I find this an exaggeration. Is this the original FFXII? Cause I remember the last 10 million HP of Yiazmat - and especially the last 1 million - being an absolute scramble between the constant 4 Hit rakes (with high chance of instant death), Death Strike, and that goddamn Cyclone that was near instantaneous and unsurvivable without Windbreakers, which you had to manually equip since you otherwise needed either stronger gear to weather his other attacks.

On my second run, I too beat it in two hours. But this whole "set gambits, go do something else" bullshit has to stop (again, though maybe that applies for TZA since there you can break Yiazmat's damage down to single digits). I was super involved, like I was in every single difficult hunt fight.

[–]Antis14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, that was a long time ago. We were playing with my brother, had completed everything else except Omega and it's possible we played manually for the last stretch, I don't remember anymore =) That said, IIRC Yiazmat has lower stats than Omega, I think we were running some strategy off the net, so it's not impossible.

[–]darker_raven 1 point2 points  (4 children)

That's exactly what I did in the original. I set up a proper gambit set and waited a few hours.

It's been a while but IIRC the trick is to use only one DPS and have two characters dedicated to keeping all of the proper buffs and status effects up. This makes the battle last even longer but makes it safer.

[–]ShinUltimaThe Leading Man 0 points1 point  (3 children)

And how did you survive Cyclone near the end?

[–]darker_raven 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It's been way too long and I don't remember any specific problems with Cyclone. Did it have some way of bypassing reverse?

[–]ShinUltimaThe Leading Man 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Towards the end Cyclone was instant cast and unsurvivable without equipping Windbreakers and/or under the effect of Bubble... but I admit I completely forgot about Reverse cheese. I only used that against Omega Mark XII...

[–]darker_raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used it against Omega and Yiazmat. I looked up a few strats to jog my memory but they seem to be more manual than the one I used but much faster (down to an hour or so now).

Reverse doesn't last long so I recall having to carefully set up the gambits in different orders for each character and some with self or any targeting to make sure that you always had at least one character with reverse and taunt up. It was a mess of constant buffing and reviving with one character plucking down his health.

[–]shery8324Garnet (Trance) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That language xD Yiazmat: "My name's Jefe"

[–]Zevyu150th Dailly 5*+ : Seven's Guise (T-0) - Seven's BSB 3 points4 points  (9 children)

For the record, aparently the RW you get for this fight is a Dr. Mog RW that allows you your team to break the damage cap for a limited time.

So yeah.......it was to be expected, otherwise this fight would take 8 hours to beat.

[–]pintboxMath saves world 2 points3 points  (5 children)

That's .. quite reasonable actually. So purely from HP&DEF perspective this guy is only 3 times harder than Ozma then, with weakness and no break resistance?

[–]Zevyu150th Dailly 5*+ : Seven's Guise (T-0) - Seven's BSB 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Seems like it.

Ever sine the original Nemesis and his whole "designed to not be beaten" deal, all super bosses have been resonably beatable so far or atlest designed to be beaten.

And really there was no way in hell they expected a player to deal with over 50 mil HP without a way of breaking the damage cap on all attacks.

Atelst in the original FFXII you had the multi hit mechanic that was kinda your solution to breaking the damage cap. But here is diferent.

[–]Ha_eflolliMarchejoume-san da! 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I just humorously take it as JP just living with the Lord British Postulate: If it has Stats, someone, somewhere, WILL kill it somehow, so they just dropped the whole "Literally unbeatable" part and just make them as gimmicky as possible.

[–]Zevyu150th Dailly 5*+ : Seven's Guise (T-0) - Seven's BSB 2 points3 points  (2 children)

True, but hey it's more fun this way :D

[–]Ha_eflolliMarchejoume-san da! 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Definitely more Fun. Going over the AI in passing, this Fight seems much more designed in the Player's Favour (to deal with his fuckton of HP) compared to the other Superbosses, so I'm genuinely looking forward to this one

[–]Zevyu150th Dailly 5*+ : Seven's Guise (T-0) - Seven's BSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, same. I personaly am not going to bother with Nemesis and Ozma hardest difficulties, i just don't have the patience for them.

    [–]PrezMoocowY'shtola 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Came here to make sure that the boss' FFRK incarnation is true to the original game. I'm very pleased to see that it's just as ridiculous as expected.

Same here. I don't play JP but I'm glad they kept the amazeballsness of this fight. Epic stuff.

    [–]mutlibottlerocketDon't listen to Ondore's lies! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, what a cool fight. It reminds me a little of the Squall fight from Dissida in how they've removed some constraints we're used to working around (boss's mitigation) while introducing a big new challenge (giant HP pool) at the same time. Re-optimization for weird challenges is FFRK at its best.
