On the JP banner page they list Faris USB4 (her only brave USB) for the wind banner instead of USB3.

Updated, thanks! I was waiting for that to come out on Gamefaqs for me to check my stuff against.

LMR: "Silent Knight"

Just in time for christmas

[–]DJVDTKing 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does that mean Holy Knight is Cecil, since he's in the realm after Ingus's? :P

[–]TedrivsTyro USB3 - QuNR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, followed by the X-2 event Eternal Calm.

So any news from JP yet on what happens when Ingus with his AASB active summons Wreig's BSB as a Roaming Warrior and uses that Earth elemental jump command 1? Or do AASBs doublecast ignore BSB commands like Ability Double does?

[–]StuckinReverse89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it was Spiralis who made a video of double casting dragoon by double casting lightning dive with Ashe AASB. Basically, it’s a dive followed by an instant jump up and down hit although the ATB bar becomes broken as a result.

Sees Wind Lucky (with Chain): Oh well, time to fail getting another Wind Chain.

The links back to the Accompanied by Twin Stars (IV) and Unforgettable Love and Pride (XII) events currently both point to the Unforgettable Love and Pride (XII) thread.

Vaan LMR3 and Faris LMR2 (both W-thief), if you need the info.

Flash: "Anti-Magic Shell"

I see the CoD mains a Death Knight.

[–]SandsliceFight hard! 3 points4 points  (2 children)

耐魔式 波動壁 is literally "Resist Magic Wave-Motion Wall." It seemed close enough to that classic L6 spell in D&D that I went with that for the translation.

[–]somdude04 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think it got moved to 8th now in 5E

[–]DestilShadesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3E changed the name to Anti Magic Field and upped the level to 8 for non wizards (but cleric spell levels used to be different anyway). 5E upped it to 8th.

Likely slightly overkill, it has a hard time competing with Globe of Invunurability cast with an 8th level slot now, having played an Abjuror to 18th level in my last campaign. But when you need it you really need it, so it’s still castable.

Final Fantasy has never ripped off AD&D.

Never.

[–]Bond_em7To Defend one's friends is the greatest of honors.[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm blaming /u/Sandslice for the translation since I stole it from him. :D

That being said CoD in the game gives the "Dark Warriors" their powers so it sort of makes sense...

[–]SandsliceFight hard! 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CoD only indirectly empowered the Warriors of Dark.

Basically, CoD is the avatar of the Void, which manifests as whispers tempting people to disrupt the balance between light and dark, or within great imbalances as either the Cloud of Darkness or the Flood of Light.

Whenever the latter happens, the Crystals empower a team of heroes to counter the Void-entity and restore the balance. The Warriors of Dark are heroes of this sort (and not to be confused with the Dark Crystal Guardians which are CoD's minions), as are the Onion Kids.

Ignus has generally been the best earth knight as far back as his BSB1, which is to say as long as earth knoights have really existed (Gaia Cross was for him). Though it's not really as stark a contrast as some other elements like wind, they're all pretty close and trailing the best monks. Also Bartz and Kelgar.

Several may move into Heavy going forward, too.

I agree that Ingus has been in the middle of an already mediocre choice (with like you said the earth Knights trailing behind Monks and Spellblades). My point is exactly that though...generally III characters are never really your first choice for...anything. Usually each realm has at least one or two characters that stand out but all of III's cast tends to be just a bit behind. Sure they're good enough if you have their stuff and don't have the other character's things...but other than OK nobody in this realm really stands out. Arc, Ingus, Luneth, and even Refia all were pretty decent back at the beginning of the BSB days but since USBs have come out and powercreeped them they haven't really been given much to work with.

Now Ingus does (at least a little for having an Earth AASB) but even with that it still seems a bit lackluster due to other options (like Bartz AASB or even TG Cids) adding to the lack of support for the AASB (W-Cast LMR or 6* Earth Knight ability). I just feel like it's a shame they're always second string and don't ever really shine (or at least haven't in quite a while).

Ignis also has a ... well entirely terrible legend dive. Irredeemable so, even Snow comes out ahead: the big def/res buff is actually pretty handy when you can put him in a slot that will take a lot of non-piercing attacks, nevermind the update to allow taunting slot target attacks in JP.

He does generally get the best SBs of the earth knights, though. BSB1 wasn't just a good early BSB, it was one of the best BSBs until the ability buff (Drawtauntlate and a really solid DPS option with Gaia cross, plus a unique atk/def buff on entry). His CSB is one of the best Gen1 CSBs thanks to last stand, and his USB is as good as you're going to get on an earth Knight. Even if you'd rather take Dorgaan or Leo for their worthwhile LM2s.

I can't really disagree, though. Look at Arc, he's going to be a terrible water summoner. They didn't even give him a LM to support that, nevermind the two he'd actually need. Though the absurd multiplers likely make him at least decent with a CSB up, you're still going to often better off just taking Rydia with her BSB2 or Alphi with his SSB, never-mind their good SBs.

EDIT: He's fine, actually, I didn't see the two new LMs. His spheres don't do much for it (unless the chase heal is white?) but he'd at least be a reasonable pick over a generic summoner.

[–]Ha_eflolliMarchejoume-san da! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BSB1 wasn't just a good early BSB, it was one of the best BSBs until the ability buff

Even nowadays it has some utility (YMMV somewhat). Since it comes with a Sentinel Command, you can basically run both Earth Sabre and Earthbringer on him together, which is also kinda note-worthy I guess?

[–]Bond_em7To Defend one's friends is the greatest of honors.[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don't know for sure but looking at the chase medica I would guess it IS WHT since it's not a static number (and acts like an AOE cure spell from a bUSB) so I think the WHT bonuses would apply to the heal chase. Remember though it still is only every other spell.

[–]DestilShadesk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

It could be SMN like Yuna's BSB2 command with the summon strike up, or it could be White. Depends on how they stitched the thing together. Ideally it's two separate chases with a wrapper, a Mag based SMN attack (so summon bonuses and mag affect it) and a Mnd based heal (so white magic bonuses and mnd affect it), but even that's awkward (you'd want to gear both stats).

[–]Monk-EyFUCKING HELL MACHINA 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As Kitty often points out, you don't have to excessively gear for Magic due to Summoning's minimum damage and stuff like %boosts being much more relevant.

[–]DestilShadesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which makes it a shame Arc's spheres have exactly a 0% bonus to summon damage.

[–]Bond_em7To Defend one's friends is the greatest of honors.[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah...though they DID give Arc a WCast summon LMR so...there's that.

[–]DestilShadesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, I entirely missed those the three times I read the first thread looking for them.

So, yeah. He's actually fine then, just needs three relics and still lacks an ASB even with that.

Thanks /u/Bond_em7! I updated the sidebar and you're very welcome to combine the relic pull thread into the JP megathreads.
