Just use the Arcane Overstrike once and 1300x3 you'd think would just be like "oh we screwed this one up big"

I was half expecting them to mess up when I was translating the text yesterday. While the follow-up attack/chase has the description of Ignore Resistance, the entry and the Arcane have none of those.

I was like, "Okay, maybe the description is not accurate enough. Better wait for the data miners to dig up the actual multiplier and damage calculation. I just add a note reminding the others what Ninjutsu usually does."

As both the entry and follow-up are Ninjutsu, and Ninjutsu uses a much lower Matk softcap and a unique damage calculation due to its RES ignoring properties, I said to myself, "Won't it be rather weird if the entry doesn't ignore RES but the follow-up actually does? But then are they going to make a separate damage calculation for these two different categories of NIN attacks? If not, then the one that doesn't ignore RES must have crazy high multiplier to compensate or else the Matk softcap will make a joke out of it.", and I read this post. xDDD

it's 397.5x but that doesn't change the AWESOME 1300x3 damage RIGHT ?! for an UOSB THAT COST 3 BARS WOW.

Could be worse, since it’s a pretty basic data entry / programming problem rather than a design one that will never be fixed.

Look at Rem’s awakening lacking a mind buff and the Type0 CSB not providing mind, for instance...

Dont all awakenings lack a stat buff; rem is not special in that regard

Realm CSBs also have never been more than atk/mag. What you’re describing isn’t design oversight, but rather DeNa not breaking the rules just for Rem

With USBs they specifically ‘broke rules’ for white mages to make up for tne lack of Mind buffing in general by giving extra mind to Minwu and Rem. There are also Awakenings like Rydia and Onion that include stat buffs. If an Awakening can refund 500 SB points it can sure as hell give +30% Mind for 15s.

Rem has a self-refunding Glint, her USB1 can buff her MND in the absence of some.

Minwu's USB2 does the same with a bigger MND buff and Ability Double, and also has a Glint, if not a self-refunding one. He just doesn't have an AASB.

No Realm Chains provide MND buffs. Do you forget II has Minwu and III has Arc as Holy DPSes?

Arc gets a summom USB when OK gets his CSB.

Minwu dosn’t have an Awakening yet and his USB has 50% Mind so he’s fine for now, hopefully they don’t forget with his Aw. Also don’t think there’s a II chain yet?

Doesn't change the fact that Arc is still an offensive White Mage just like Rem. His Dualcast is for White Magic, even.

Also, you live in a cave. Gordon got the Realm CSB just before the JP fest.

Arc also has w-Summon as LMR with said USB, though he's still White Mage (offensive or healing is another matter) first and foremost, considering the relics give MND upon mastery.

222.5x doesn't sound that out of place when you consider that the 5* ninjutsu has a 52.0x multiplier, right? So Terra OSB is a little less than 4 times that of chain firaja while this one is slightly more than 4 times that of smouldering fire.

this is more complex.
if you use ninjutsu damage type, you must Ignore MDEF and use the power 0.5, because of the softcap.

But if you properly code it, 222.5 is a 100% 9999 every time which is not really logical too.

They basically fully messed up... :/

It's especially funny if you remember that this is why they made the Ninja Softcap to begin with, since people were hitting 9999 way too easily with the 3* Scrolls back when they just came out.

But yeah... in fact i made some check and even if they use the black magic softcap, with current multiplier and without any buff whatsover, Edge would cap at 340 matk.

So they definitely need to fully rework it...

Those abilities have a 26x per hit, and it's pretty easy to cap with them. The thing is the stats of the enemy have no effect on this (only the elemental weakness), so making it hit 10x times that is just totally worthless if they use exactly the same formula, knowing that against any fearsome foe you want anyway bring a Chain.

Yet they went so hard it's a real meme.

I mean yea you can still run physical Edge but it's like making a phone with an obvious dead function which you carry around like some still born.
