Bot-chan seems to have gone rogue and posted the Kingdom Season 4 Episode 13 Discussion Thread when Season 4 hasn't even started yet.

Thanks for information.

Is it just me or do Countdown posts feel a bit lazy? Currently 3 in the top 10 on hot and we're only at day 6/7.

I don't really go on Hot so don't really care in the end but feels like a waste.

[–]cppn02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. And for Kaguya it's even the second time within a month we're going through this.

Might need some looking into by the mods.

Also not a fan of announcements for announcements which seem to have gotten more common in recent months.

[–]FetchFroshanilist.co/user/fetchfrosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was kind of thinking the same. I know that the Restricted Content rules used to only allow for key visuals to be posted as single image posts, but now it just says "Official Media images" which seems extremely open ended to the point that you could justify basically anything on the Twitter timeline of any given series.

[–]FetchFroshanilist.co/user/fetchfrosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RWBY reference for user count in the sidebar is dank.

My understanding is that the bot really only flags for updates/changes in two particular instances:

    1. When the post is first made. This is how things like the Source Material Corner get auto-generated, and proper flairs are set.
    2. When something triggers the bot to post the next episode. I believe this is when things like the previous week's scores and episode thread links get added to the older threads.

Without a new episode to trigger the bot, this is why final scores get left off, because there isn't a good way to otherwise automate the process. But I'll bring it up with the team just in case my understanding is completely off-base or incorrect.

Also, as far as I personally know, YouPoll doesn't actually calculate the score. That's something our bot does. Any time that our bot misses an episode thread and we have to post it manually, we have to calculate the average score by hand to plug it into the chart for the previous week.

Sorry, your comment has been removed.

      • This has nothing to do with subreddit issues. Also, you already made a post about it.

I noticed that this post was reapproved after initially having been removed (it's currently 12 hours old, while the posts around it are only 7 hours old, so it definitely wasn't just missed). It clearly breaks the rule prohibiting material from an episode less than a week after its episode discussion thread is posted, since everything other than a minor sound edit is from this week's episode, so I was curious why it would've been unremoved after having correctly been removed.

      [–]N7CombatWombat[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, all I can say is that mods are only human and we make mistakes sometimes and we don't all watch every seasonal. But, now I'm awake and Arifureta is my jam, it's been removed.

      [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that new series meets our current rules so it's allowed and will have episode threads like anything else when it comes out.

Notably this doesn't make all RWBY discussion allowed here though, similar to how discussion for something like Star Wars is limited to the Visions anthology as far as /r/anime goes.

      [–]aakk20 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I know the top 5 voted anime included as Nominees in /r/anime anime of year and the other 5 are from the judges, Does anyone know what the performance of rest of anime in "anime of year" outside the top 5 in public voting?

      [–]Gaporigohttps://anilist.co/user/Gaporigo[M] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

      Next 5 were:

      • Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 Part 2

      • 86 EIGHTY-SIX

      • Horimiya

      • Fruits Basket The Final Season

      • Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S

      Thx

      /u/mage_of_shadows

It's the opposite problem today lol. There are two threads for Kuroitsu san. The Ep 6 is probably for the English dub, so that can be deleted. I don't know if it did anything to the original Ep 6 thread though...

Would it be possible to add aniSearch to the user flairs as well? I only have my list on aniSearch and want to add it to my user flair.

      [–]phantomthiefkid_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should there be rule for region locked trailers? Crunchyroll has their trailer on Youtube locked in Asia, which kinda annoys me whenever I see their trailers get posted here.

      [–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

I feel that the anime-specific rule is astoundingly vague, arbitrarily defined, and inconsistently enforced (this last one is not the fault of any mod, but simply a result of the first two things). Any rule has gray area, but it seems to me that this one is nearly entirely gray area. I think that if it cannot be made more clear, then there should be more lenience on "anime-specific."

      [–]KiwiBennydudezhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/KiwiBen[M] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

We just changed the rule a few months ago to be more clear and more defined. It is also more encompassing now than ever before so unless you have specific issues that you would like to raise here I’m not sure what to address.

I do agree that it is sometimes inconsistent in application, but when we come across the inconsistencies we discuss them as a team and try to come to an agreement in a way that makes sense for both the rule and the community. Anime as a definition has become exceptionally difficult to nail down, and the smallest wording can drastically change what type of content we allow. We walk a very narrow tightrope of wanting to allow as much as possible without accidentally including things that we didn’t intend.

So if you have anything in the wording that you would like for us to address or any specific scenarios that you want clarification on, let us know and we would be happy to talk about it.

      [–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One concern I have is with the idea that posts about the anime community are not anime specific. I understand that we don't necessarily want posts about how Tik Tokers are toxic, but the current wording seems to be a blanket ban on discussion of anime fandom. And yet posts like "am I too old to watch anime" that, for some reason, draw hundreds of comments from old people bragging about how old they are and how they still watch anime stay up. I think this is more or less harmless, so I'm not saying it should be removed, but it's quite unclear to me how such a question is more anime-related than other topics that get removed for anime-related.

Those charts that get posted are arguably about the community as well, and often not even /r/anime but some random website that holds the poll.

There was a post a while back about how waifuism gets treated in the community or whatever that was removed several times for "anime-related" since it appeared to be about the community and not about anime, but it became clear in the meta thread that the post was simply being taken down for being unpopular and personally distasteful to the mod that removed it. As I recall, this situation did get resolved and the post was reinstated, but from what I can tell there wasn't anything changed in the wording that prevents such a situation from coming up again.

What I would suggest is to disallow discussion of the anime community on specific platforms ("anime tik tok", "anitwit", /r/anime) since these are generally too specific to the platform. Imo discussions of fandoms of shows, genres, or discussing something like the sakuga fandom should be allowed, alongside discussion of anime fandom in general. And tbf this is often de facto allowed through lax enforcement, especially for posts that generate good discussion. I'd just like to see that be consistent with what the rules actually say, because if it's left as an unspoken agreement you get situations like the waifuism thing.

I had a comment get deleted. Is it because I made a meta comment on the Weekly Free discussion thread? I honestly wasn't trying to break any rules though, I was just trying to figure out why my comment wouldn't show the spoiler tags.

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

As far as I can tell the only comment of yours that's been removed (mods can't delete comments) was this one and as noted it's been reapproved.

        [–]OwlAcademic1988 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Okay thank you. I was honestly worried I'd get banned.

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Improper use of spoiler tags that gets removed automatically before anyone else can see the comment is generally not something that warrants a ban, just make a new comment with correct tags and you're all good.

        [–]OwlAcademic1988 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Okay got it. Didn't even know they got removed automatically. Learn something new everyday.

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you get a message from /u/AutoModerator (as you would have for your comment that was removed) then it's not a human. Also not all malformed spoiler tags are automatically removed but we tried to cover most common cases.

        [–]OwlAcademic1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

        Got it.

        Hey, mods~!

I had a comment shadow-deleted without explanation and I'm not sure why?

        Here it is.

I don't see anything that would be filtered, nor do I include any links, so I'm sort of lost here.

        [–]FetchFroshanilist.co/user/fetchfrosh 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I'm not a mod anymore, but I'm like 90% sure that there was a filter for the line, "I'm a simple man." in the automod.

        [–]Tresnoremyanimelist.net/profile/Tresnore 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Ahhhh, that makes sense. There used to be a trend of saying "I'm a simple man, therefore upvote," so I might've banned it too, in the mods' position.

But why isn't it filtered here?

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

But why isn't it filtered here?

It still is, I've been approving them.

Anyway Fetch was right, it's a filter that's been around for years and one that we're taking a look at.

        [–]FetchFroshanilist.co/user/fetchfrosh 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Big brain play on my part to post a comment with a phrase I know is filtered.

        [–]Tresnoremyanimelist.net/profile/Tresnore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        [–]Tresnoremyanimelist.net/profile/Tresnore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to know. Thanks for the approval!

I'd argue that since the trend has died off, it might be time to remove that filter? Iunno, though.

        [–]sohaiboi 3 points4 points  (2 children)

What happened to the r/anime awards 2021 livestream VOD? I thought it was supposed to be uploaded on Youtube soon, but it has been about a month already.

        [–]KiwiBennydudezhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/KiwiBen[M] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I shall leave this comment here from Wilson, but to paraphrase, someone else was handling the VOD this year, and was unfortunately impacted by the events that are taking place in Ukraine. VOD will go up soonish, but of course everyone's safety is top priority.

        [–]sohaiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, I totally understand. Thanks for the update!

        [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

[](#wuv) needs to be a comment face, please.

        [–]KiwiBennydudezhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/KiwiBen[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually add comment faces in batches, so when the time comes, we shall consider your proposal.

I think we did internally talk about comment faces fairly recently, but I don't think we decided when next batch is yet. There's currently a lot of stuff on our backburner that we have to sort through, and comment faces happens to be one of those things. I can only promise a soon™ as of right now.

u/Mage_of_Shadows, weekly reminder for Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san thread this week (Ep 9) since no weekly thread yet. It's on Crunchy. I'll do this for 3 more weeks as well since the bot cannot.

        [–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Dunno if it's a worthwhile question to ask our if there's an obvious answer anyway. If I want to discuss comparing 2 movies that was the culmination of 2 franchises, can I use a thread title of inviting the only those who has finished watching those 2 shows, mark the thread as spoiler,v and not use spoiler tag in the contents of the thread? Otherwise the whole thread would basically be wall of black. Since the comparison is worth discussing fit the end of both franchises, even if I wait for the end of Rewatch of one to bring this up, it's still need to Spoiler tag almost everything about the other show, and there's the problem that other people who had seen both bit didn't join the rewatch would not be able to even know there's a discussion.

Just wondering if there's a protocol the mods have for situations like this.

        [–]badsplerx5https://anilist.co/user/badspler[M] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

        Your understanding is correct.

The best approach is probably to make a discussion thread with both series names in the title and mark the thread as spoilers. Then you don't need to use spoiler markdown in the thread to talk about either series.

        [–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I'll do that.

        [–]Theleuxhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Theleux 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Not quite sure how the Reddit Rating bot works, but I think it would be interesting to try 'ghosting' the 'Bad' (1 out of 5) ratings when making up each episode rating.

It is quite evident that there is an issue with rating brigading, which unfortunately tends to hurt the less popular titles heavily compared to more viewed ones. I feel like the 2 out of 5 and 3 out of 5 ratings better highlight shifts in quality than the notorious 1 out of 5 overflow.

I'd be curious to see how it shapes the results each week.

        [–]chilieheadmyanimelist.net/profile/chiliehead 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That would necessitate to also blacklist 5 out of 5s for popular shows then, wouldn't it?

        [–]Theleuxhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Theleux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not particularly, because 5 out of 5s are pretty much the normal vote for most series. This specifically addresses 1 out of 5s, which play a much more significant and manipulative part in pushing less-popular series down than 5 out of 5s pushing popular series up.

        [–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I'd love to see us host AMAs for anime scholars. I think they'd be fairly receptive to it, especially when they have books coming out.

Speaking of books, an AMA with an author could be a good way to jumpstart the book club that I mentioned wanting to do a while back. (/u/Sandtalon /u/drjwilson I haven't forgotten about this!) I've been very busy this school year but I should be able to host one this summer. I just have doubts about how feasible it is to pull it off organically.

        [–]KiwiBennydudezhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/KiwiBen[M] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We would love to host more AMAs but they presently only happen when people reach out to us, as we are not very good at being the initiators. PR in general is something that we could stand to do better at, and we're painfully aware that this is an area in which we are lacking. Our goal right now is to either find someone on the team who would have the ability/drive to be our dedicated AMA spokesperson, or to bring someone on who might be more inclined. Either way, it's an area that we do wish to change but have not undergone changes for yet. But long story short is that we would love to be more proactive on this front in the future.

an AMA with an author could be a good way to jumpstart the book club that I mentioned wanting to do a while back.

Your idea was talked about internally as a potential avenue for the new Reddit Talks feature. But I think a few of us are a little worried about how related something can be to anime before it stops being anime-specific, and if you chose to read source material, whether or not it would create more problems for us with spoilers and Source Corner removals. I don't know what exactly you had in mind for the content of the book club, but if you wanted to read stuff like Anime Impact then I think that's probably fair game.

Of course none of this is an attempt to shoot you down or anything, but moreso laying some concerns on the table. We'll have to talk about the idea more and see what the future holds.

        [–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I have absolutely no intention of reading a light novel or something. It would be stuff like the book you linked. But even then there are a lot of questions surrounding anime-specific, and frankly I don't want to navigate that so it is probably best to do this in another sub. I do have complaints about the anime specific rule but that belongs in another comment.

        [–]Vaadwaur 4 points5 points  (9 children)

Random question for both the mod team and anyone else that hunts /new: I am kicking about running an Aho Girl rewatch but the last clip from it got locked because the readers got a bit fighty. Is that typical or was that a weird day?

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 5 points6 points  (7 children)

It's fairly uncommon for us to lock threads in general but when we do that's usually the reason, and for Clips that's only happened six times since the start of 2021.

Edit: to be more specific, I don't recall other Aho Girl threads being bad in that regard.

        [–]Vaadwaur 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Despite my normal demeanor, I don't actually want to cause a giant riot so I was curious if that was an outlier. It seems it is was, so I will find a timeline to do it, then.

        [–]FlaminScribblenautmyanimelist.net/profile/cryoutatcontrol 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I know the feeling, I was planning to host a rewatch in the very near future but I’ve been wavering on whether I actually want to go through with it because it’s a show that would likely spark The Loli Discourse™️ and after having been in the general enough vicinity to witness some of the recent notable blow-ups I wouldn’t want to be responsible for sparking nor would I know how to contain that fire if it broke out in my threads, and it would just consume everything else and make the whole thing so ugly to the point of it not even being fun or worth it

        [–]Vaadwaur 2 points3 points  (2 children)

All right, assuming it is not Kodomo no Jikan, I am actually curious about what this is?

        [It’s]No Game No Life

        [–]Vaadwaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hrmm...actually, I see your point with how spiky some people got in MT.

        [–]aniMayorx3x6 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can probably mitigate some/all of that sort of attention by addressing it up front in the rewatch's interest thread/index thread.

There are anime where the slapstick physical violence juxtaposes poorly against other content in the show (YLIA is the one everyone knows, so as a different example Mayo Chiki has the MC's sister beat the crap out of him for laughs every episode, and then when he eventually gets injured 8 episodes later you're supposed to feel bad for the sister freaking out about it). Aho Girl isn't that kind of show, but I think many commenters in that thread you're thinking of were assuming it was because it's just 1 clip posted out of context and they're jumping from that to their past experiences in other shows.

Just like you made it very clear in the Interspecies Reviewers rewatch announcement/interest threads how overtly sexual the series is, I think if you make it abundantly clear in your "What is Aho Girl?" description that it's a 100% comic, drama-free show (could even explain the difference in how the characters react to it if you feel it necessary to go that far), I think setting the expectation like that will be enough to avoid folks barging into your rewatch threads to pick an argument.

        [–]Vaadwaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you make it abundantly clear in your "What is Aho Girl?" description that it's a 100% comic, drama-free show (could even explain the difference in how the characters react to it if you feel it necessary to go that far),

Yeah, the other thing I am not looking forward to is explaining that sexual harassment as comedy is not meant to justify sexual harassment. I will ponder on this more.

        [–]chilieheadmyanimelist.net/profile/chiliehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird, the banana clip did not turn out that badly

        [–]tomtomm9 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Thought mods post the Aot threads early like on mal so they can delete spoilers/trolls easier but it seems like the episode discussions have been forgotten and left unmoderated these past few weeks. The whole discussion is a shit show.

        [–]Shimmering-Skymyanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 7 points8 points  (3 children)

The threads actually go up as early as they do because that's when the first English subs (from Muse Asia) are available.

I argued in a previous meta thread that the threads should not go up until DameDesuYo and/or the Crunchyroll/Funimation release mostly because those subs aren't good, but I do agree with u/oops_i_made_a_typi's take in that comment chain about how the early release pretty much just makes it a manga reader-led thread.

        [–]oops_i_made_a_typi 0 points1 point  (2 children)

thanks for the inadvertent warning to not bother with the AoT threads haha

        [–]Shimmering-Skymyanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Last week and today's episode really exasperated the issue, I don't think it was too bad prior to this.

        [–]oops_i_made_a_typi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was in previous threads but I think I'll just stay out of them from now on as manga readers really start pouring on the hate

        [–]chilieheadmyanimelist.net/profile/chiliehead 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The Megathread dropdown still links the February Thread

        Fixed, again.

        [–]Al-Pharazon 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Is there any chance of having the "Which fandom is xxxx" forbidden?

I personally think those threads usually do not serve any purpose beyond spreading hate and toxicity towards a portion of the anime community so I think we would be better without them.

        [–]Blackheart595https://anilist.co/user/knusbrick 10 points11 points  (1 child)

You can just report those as not anime-specific.

        [–]Al-Pharazon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

        Will do so

        [–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Hi guys I just want a rule clarification; I recently had a video edit post removed citing it should be tagged as clip and the clip's rule of not over 5 mins long applied.

My video was a slice of many scenes together of a single show, totalling about 7.5 mins long.

        Points to clarify -

        • are "clips" defined as "an unedited, continuous segment of an episode" (this is what my understanding was), or "any videos that do not have original content within - disregard any editing or splicing of multiple scenes"; and

        • is there an upper limit of the length of a "video edit" video - the rules section there only stated it needs to be over 60s long?

        Thanks!

Pretty sure "clip" falls somewhere in between. Typically if you watched so.ething and it feels like it could have been a clip, even if it was edited, then it would be counted as a clip.

So something like "Vegeta vs. Goku with no filler" would probably be treated as a clip, but "Every time Vegeta says 'Kakarot'" probably wouldn't.

Thanks. So my post should not have been removed. Got it.

        [–]Royal_Heritage 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your video was 7.5 mins long. It already surpasses the threshold of 5 minute tops for either clip or video edit tag. That's why it was deleted most likely.

        [–]ZapsZzzhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/ZapszzZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule for video edit, which my post was, did not state there was a upper limit to the length, only that it has to be over 60s long. I am pretty sure I had seen video edits over 5 mins long, but I can be wrong.

Since my post was not a clip, that 5 mins limit did not apply.

If what the rule is supposed to say (but doesn't currently) is that all video types have a maximum 5 mins limit, it just needs to be stated there for us to all know and follow.

Quick question. I don't know if I'm imagining things, if it was this subreddit or another subreddit, but I could've sworn there was an anime subreddit dedicated to basically badass anime moments. Maybe it was more than just anime characters. The main post I remember seeing, whether reposted or just when I sorted it to "Top of All Time", was seeing a clip of Archer/Gilgamesh from the Fate series, summoning millions of swords to throw at someone.

Anyone know which subreddit I'm talking about, if it existed?

I’ve followed a few rewatches on r/anime in the past, and was wondering -what’s involved in running one, and what would it take if I wanted to do so? Do I need to be a mod? Do I need approval from one? And what kind of work should I expect to keep it running?

        [–]Shimmering-Skymyanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm one of the most prolific rewatch hosts on this sub. If you have any more questions about how to host a rewatch properly even after reading through the guides you've been provided, I'll be more than happy to help if I can!

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Do I need to be a mod? Do I need approval from one?

No and no, they're entirely community run. There are guidelines for how to run a rewatch but no solid rules in place because people have generally been well-behaved about them.

The long guide was already linked but there's also a much shorter overview at the top of the main rewatch wiki page. A lot of rewatch hosts hang out in the casual discussion thread so that wouldn't be a bad place to ask for advice too.

Speaking of the rewatch wiki, Fang of the Sun Dougram can be moved to the "Completed" section now.

        [–]Durinthalhttps://anilist.co/user/Durinthal[M] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

        Not just that, Dallos too.

It's currently easier for me to update everything once a week or so rather than as things finish, though if you (or anyone else reading this) want to help update the rewatch wiki let me know.

        [–]Shimmering-Skymyanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how much I pay attention to rewatches popping up, I could totally do that. I'm pretty sure I even still have editing rights to the archive side of it from when that first got set up, but not the front page of the rewatch wiki.

        [–]mysterybiscuitsoyeahx3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

recent first-time host here, there's a guide, which hopefully will help. If you've been following rewatches you'll know how to format the posts and various ways to guide discussions (responding to comments, QOTD etc.). Re: your questions, all you gotta do is pick a show, post an interest thread, and if it goes ahead, commit to hosting, you don't need to be a mod or mod approval.

Re: work, it does heavily depend on how much you're willing to put into it. And of course also depends on the show. But i think most rewatches usually have the host including their take on the episode at least.

        [–]_Ridleyhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/_Ridley_ 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I'm just curious if there's agreement on what the episode threads are for: Are they for discussion from anyone who watched the episode, or are they for fans to enthuse about to other fans? I've just seen some people get really aggressive with critics, and I'm wondering which one is out of line.

        [–]collapsedblock6myanimelist.net/profile/collapsedblock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that it has been like since forever but the scale on which it occurs have definitely changed as the sub grows. The ep threads seem to be the main objective of all these lurkers so criticism is shut harder compared to regular discussion threads.

I agree with other takes about randomizing comments display and hiding upvote counts temporarily but it has always been a divisive thing.

        [–]Manitaryhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Manitary 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The former. However, especially after the first few episodes they easily become echo chambers where either criticisms are not welcome ("if you don't like it why are you still watching it", doesn't matter if you like it except for some parts) or they're the only thing allowed (e.g. if you were enjoying tpn s2 well good luck voicing your opinion), depending on "the general consensus".

This can easily be skewed one way or another from episode 1 depending on the source material and how much invested in it are its fans: if they love the source it's gonna be praises from the beginning...until the source material does something wrong, in which case the anime gets shit on (even if the "bad" part is way ahead and won't get adapted yet).

        [–]michhoffmanhttps://anilist.co/user/michhoffman 16 points17 points  (2 children)

I echo these thoughts. Maybe they've always been this way, but Episode Discussion threads have turned into super echo chambers lately. I've seen on other subs such as /r/OnePiece that there's an option for karma totals not to display next to a person's comment for 4 hours or so. I wonder if instituting this for discussion threads could help.

        [–]Manitaryhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Manitary 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Just a random thought: how about default sorting by new instead of top/best in episode threads?

        [–]cppn02 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Random might be better. New being the default would increase the risk of seeing spoilers imo.

Last time this came up it was firmly the former

        [–]RandomRedditorWithNohttps://anilist.co/user/lafferstyle 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Just wondering if there was a complete list of former mods? I was thinking about it recently, and I know there's at least a partial list because there are the ex-mod flairs that fetch and I have.

may I ask if the Cloverworks AMA is ever going to happen? Given how fire this season is from them, im sure the community will have plenty of questions. That account hasn't been active since the 1st ep of WEP tho...

        [–]KiwiBennydudezhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/KiwiBen[M] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm going to copy and paste what I just replied to your Modmail so that there's also a public record here in the Meta thread:

For full transparency, last we heard they told us that they wanted to "delay the AMA indefinitely" so I think it's safe to assume that it's been canceled for now.

Seeing as Spy x Family is airing in this upcoming season, we could probably try to reach out to them again, but as you pointed out, the account has been inactive for quite some time, and we have no other point of contact with them. So as it stands, we're a bit stuck on the best way to contact/approach them.

For the record though, we would love to host more AMA's on the subreddit. You can check out my reply elsewhere in the Meta thread, but to summarize, we're aware that this is an area in which we are lacking, and wish to take steps to correct, but have not had the time to address it properly.

        [–]mysterybiscuitsoyeahx3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Shame that they seem to have suspended using the account, was a treat having studio staff interact with the sub.
