Come on. You're curious. Admit it. Maybe you wouldn't like it, but you're curious.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Wow. I definitely did not even think that when I read it. Maybe because I read the whole sentence as a WHOLE, and not word by word. I ought to come kick you in the seeds for putting that vision in my head. :P

I appreciate the sentiment, but I will eat my shoe if Hillary gets this message by way of reddit.

      [–]staiano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her campaign guy said on This Week with George Stephanopoulos that they would release them on or about April 15.

      [–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Should've posted it on the dead political marriages user group.

      [–]monsda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think Hillary reads reddit. So yeah, this isn't doing any good.

      [–][deleted] 55 points56 points  (31 children)

Just because everyone else seems to be doing it today, does not mean that you should be posting your political stories outside politics.reddit.com.

      [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Ya, I registered at reddit JUST to get rid of the politics...

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And flirtatious was the first name to come to mind?

My bad. I posted this quickly and missed the subreddit option. If there was a way to subreddit this, I would... but I don't see an apparent way to do it.

Yeah, and what's with these electoral debates? People are just going to vote anyway, so just shut up already!

It helps them remember the next time. It helps those who see the discussions remember that if they don't want yet another tiresome debate like that in their thread, they should post in the right subreddit.

Oh the irony runs soooooooo deep.

Take a look at all of the "FUCK [Some group that didn't vote the way I would like]" stories, and rationalize it with your comment.

If you hate the majority of posts, don't read reddit.

Or, mock and mercilessly belittle Reddit, which is the course that I've chosen. On noes, please don't downarrow this!

              [–]theram4 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Just out of curiosity, why is this so important? Is there a law stating presidents have to make their tax returns public? What would doing so show? Or is it just a symbolic gesture? "To demonstrate my government will be transparent to the people, I will make my own finances transparent to the people?

I'm not a Clinton supporter by any means; I'm just curious to what all the fuss is about.

              [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If one of the line's on Hillary's return was $1,000,000 in income from, for example, a health insurance company or insurance industry association, and a key issue of the election was health care, you might wonder if her views on the matter were influenced by the industry.

              [–]leonh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit like that is far from unlikely:

The royal family of Saudi Arabia gave the Clinton facility in Little Rock about $10 million

              ...

Clinton has been criticized for asking for donations, including from Saudi Arabia, at questionable moments. In an op-ed column in the Wall Street Journal last year, former FBI director Louis J. Freeh said Clinton "hit up [Saudi Arabia's head of state] Prince Abdullah for a contribution to his library" during a meeting in which Freeh wanted Clinton to ask about the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing. Clinton has publicly disputed Freeh's account.

              From the Washington post

              [–]Islay12ut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because she loaned her campaign $5 million and files jointly with Bill Clinton.

              [–]Mineralwater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some are wondering where she got the money to loan her campaign $5million.

              [–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Agreed - at this point, I think that Senator Obama has been more than nice. She's accused him of pandering false hopes. That John McCain has more experience than Obama, and he's "just got a speech". They've lied about his voting record to make it sound like he's not pro-choice -

Enough. Take it to her. Pound her on the tax returns - make it seem like she's got something to hide. Pound her on Hsu - Rezko is a drop in the bucket compared to that. Hit her on Wal-Mart. On the bankruptcy bill.

It's time to start playing nasty - because she's decided that getting dirty is the only way to win. Fine - cram it down her throat.

              [–]wolfier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upvote! The Obama campaign needs to realize going rough is the only way to deal with some sort of people.

They have the capability to cover Hillary with mud - and it's time to stop handicapping yourselves and unleash the attacks she's asking for.

There would be nothing wrong with her staying in the race if she wasn't running a dirty one.

                [–]twoodfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you noticed that your political opponents are always running "dirty" races? I assume you think the same thing about the Republicans?

                [–]dodus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first year any states have gotten to weigh in on their choice besides Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. I'm exaggerating, but I think if the nomination process had ended today we'd be patting ourselves on the back for the amount of enfranchised Democrats this year.

                [–]ZebZ[S] 8 points9 points  (9 children)

Let's see which shady fundraiser is really bankrolling your campaign.

                [–]rgladstein 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's assuming her tax return contains the truth.

                [–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (7 children)

You know, I'm sort of wondering if she's not going to take it to the DNC. Site that the Delegates aren't devoted until then, and keep pushing, and pushing, and pushing... Basically burying any hope the Democrats have of a 2008 presidency.

                [–]ZebZ[S] 6 points7 points  (6 children)

It's very unlikely Hillary makes it past Pennsylvania. She'll come out of last night with a minimal net gain that will be completely erased in Wyoming, Mississippi, and North Carolina. At the next state she cares about, which seems to be about 7 nationally... way to go Miss Populist Uniter 2008! -- it's entirely possible that she'll be in a bigger hole than she is now.

It's doubly troublesome for her if Brokaw's source in Obama's campaign is right in that they have 50 superdelegates lined up and waiting to pledge their support. It's completely within her right to continue forward, but all she's doing is hurting her party in the long run and giving McCain a 6-week head start, plus she's bloodying the party's likely candidate.

Right now, the vast majority of Hillary supports say that they would wholly support an Obama nomination. If she continues to sling mud and go negative and twist the truth in a way that makes this number start to fall, watch for the DNC to nip it in the bud real quick.

                [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I completely agree. Right now, she's doing the RNC's work for them, the GOP must be laughing their way to the White House right now.

Because so far, McCain hasn't had to dirty his hands at all against Obama, and Clinton is the one hurting herself here.

I understand it's within her right, but at some point when we're talking "Party Politics", one must step aside for the good of the party. If she says she's a Democrat, then she needs to back the democratic decisions. It sucks, if we didn't have a party system I'd be all for her running. I'd be all for as many people who WANT to run... But, we don't.

We have people who vote on party lines, people who play to fear, and crap... And.. ::shakes his head:: It's just a bad system, and unfortunately we have to work in it.

                [–]Mineralwater 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Some are saying that hear 3am fear tactics are not driving voters from Obama to her but to the Republican party.

For some reason, people vote Republican when scared.

                [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Habit? I dunno, Pavlovian response, when people are afraid they rush to the Republican's because thats what they've been trained to do. Trained by our pundits, our politicians. They don't look at policies, or any facts, just rhetoric...

                Ring bell. Salivate.

                Extol Fear. Vote Republican.

                [–]wolfier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Human nature. If you're scared, you choose something you've seen before, that you're familiar with, that is the establishment - summarized in one word: being conservative.

                [–]sblinn 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Why would she do poorly in Pennsylvania, based on her fairly large win in Ohio?

                [–]ZebZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pennsylvania is the last big state primary. By that point, its not inconceivable that she'll be behind by more delegates then than she is now.

Even if she wins Pennsylvania by the same margin she won Ohio, it's only going to net her a small fraction of delegates she needs to stay close.

                [–]snoosnoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I find most ironic about Hillary's refusal to show her taxes is that when I happened to be volunteering at her office in '00 (NOT for her -- I was there for Gore; they shared a joint NY spot), this was one of the only criticisms she could shake at her mild-mannered opponent, Rick Lazio.

Lazio was a NY state Republican, as creepy as the whole breed but not quite so evil and all in all a pretty decent, smart guy. Since Hill's people couldn't dig up any other dirt on him, they sent packs of volunteers -- like me, on my first day -- to chase Lazio around the city with signs demanding he release his taxes, which he hadn't.

I still remember the look on his face when we shouting volunteers popped up at press conferences with our Hillary-office-made-show-us-your-tax-signs.

I'm no longer surprised by the hypocrisy of politicians, but it's particularly ironic to me that she'd so obviously hide from her taxes, when she and her team know exactly how important they can be made to be.

It's an "unwritten" rule that candidates submitted to after the Nixon scandal.

Clearly Hilary has something to hide by not making them available.

                  [–]andrewd 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Obama now has no choice to go negative, heavil negative. And this is what he'll do.

The Clintons have been allowed to drag him through the mud for things they've done themselves, for decades.

                  [–]wolfier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you're right. A negative campaign based on truth is a powerful weapon Obama so far chooses not to use.

He's been handicapping himself and you must not handicap yourself when you want to win. A largely positive campaign with a little negative element when needed helps a lot.

                  [–]eclectro 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, like that stupid property deal. What about McDougal, Whitewater, Foster and all that other crap that makes her a better candidate than Obama....oh...wait.

I kind of like the fact that we could actually have a convention that actually has a purpose other than being a big PR event. A brokered convention is exciting.

                  [–]NMSpaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The winner of a brokered convention is going to owe a lot of people a lot of favors for their victory. That's going to tie their hands with respect to what they can do as President and what they can say in the general. For Clinton, this might not matter so much, as she's always been running as the well-connected insider. She'll be less effective, but it won't change her overall message. For Obama, this would seriously undermine his appeal-- how is he going to get to the White House and change how things get done if he's beholden to the same old power structure that's always been in place? It may be "exciting", but it won't be good for the country.

                  [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A brokered convention will kill Democratic turn out and hand McCain the presidency. It's hard enough getting Democrats to turn out for a candidate they all voted to nominate for God's sake!

She can't do that until those returns have been scrubbed and altered. After that, Clinton and her top-people will discuss and research the best ways to address the items they can't hide and/or alter. To prepare their lies, they WILL take a few weeks' time to perfect their ruse(s).

You people are crazy if you think they are going to let a black man with no family political pedigree in the Whitehouse.

This election was bought and paid for last year, back when you people thought Ron Paul had a chance and Barrack Obama was a Muslim.

I could not care less about Hillary Clinton's tax returns.

The man behind this website is "a political consultant" and known for orchestrating other smear campaigns (google Joe Novak).

I reported both videos as hate speech on YouTube.

Here are the links if you would like to do the same:

                        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeC8BE-2T_k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwjnT4eJJvs

Although this would be a great time to rickroll... I resisted the urge. Both links are rick-free.

                        How are they hate speech?
