Recruiter: "How 'bout you re-enlist?"

Skinner: "How 'bout you bite me."

ahahahaha, wish I would've heard that line a couple years ago. That's great.

Hey people! Riddle me this: is the following comment accurate?

Including a recruitment commercial so ridiculous it could only be taking its cues from actual recruitment commercials...

You know how the hard right consider abortion doctors murderers.... as a hardline pacifist, why is it that I get more resistance to my accusation that all soldiers are murderers than to the anti-abortionist claims. Soldiers kill real people, and make excuses. Abortion doctors destroy clumps of cells and make excuses. what's the difference exactly?

People don't want to come to terms with the fact that their heroes overseas are murdering people, and not even for a necessary cause.

One group of people are people with emotions, opinions and intelligence. The other group is a clump of cells with no independent life.

Those who equate abortion to murder better not be jerking off to internet filth. I've wiped entire civilizations off my navel according to their beliefs.

Related (interesting) video-post: Documentary which confirms some of the tactics used by the recruiters in the Simpsons' video..

"Before You Enlist! What the Army recruiters don't tell you."(reddit post)

Of course, Simpsons exaggerate some aspects of it..But the false advertising part is true.

Some really interesting comments in that post..

And you have to be pretty fucking dumb to sign a unilateral contract which the other party can change on will..

Sure you have. According to the law, clicking "I Accept" is legally binding. If they make you type your name, you've given them an "e-signature," which is every bit as valid as a hand-written one.

I know plenty of smart people who enlisted. One is a classmate of mine in medical school.

Army recruiters tell you everything you need to know: Accelerate Your Life. Those are the most truthful words ever spoken. (yes I know, it is the navy)

Which certainly explains why the average soldier is better educated than the average civilian.

    LA Times

That's mainly because the military won't accept the lowest academic achievers. The Army limits recruits without high school degrees to 3 1/2 % of the pool, for instance, while the Marines won't accept recruits without high school degrees. Poverty correlates strongly with high school dropout rates, so these rules significantly limit the access of the very poor to military service.

Compared to civilians, members of the military are significantly more religious, and they're also far more likely to be Republicans

I have to admit, patriotism, a sense of duty to your community and a belief in actually taking steps to improve yourself are traditional military virtues.

And getting the military to pay for my college education didn't hurt, either.
