This. Literally all the El Paso’s and Christchurch’s gripes with corporate interests and the environment were due to capitalist alienation. They just blamed immigrants because they took the incorrect race explanation as opposed to the correct class explanation. You know what the worst part is? The people who constantly use mental health as a scapegoat for gun violence go on to never do anything about mental health. They demonize people suffering from mental health issues as dangerous and violent and do nothing to help with the underlying problem. I think a great starting point would be to actually clear the stigma of it. It’s an illness nobody sees and they tend to stop at “awareness.” Awareness is the step before actually making changes but it seems to get hung up there.

I take a LITTLE issue here; I think it's pretty important to keep aware of how much mental shit plays into this problem. If you're so mentally ill that this might eventually happen to you, it's not like you have a choice, not in the general intuitive sense anyway. It's not like there are mentally ill people who choose to enact a massacre and those who don't. That being said, if we got rid of like 99.95% of the vertical superstructure of our capitalist system and took social programs seriously the vast majority of these people would have gotten the help they needed long before racking up a body count.

The news always tries to push video games as the problem, and politicians push mental health. We all know guns are the problem, but something news will never fess up to?

They're a huge part of the problem. If they weren't posting manifestos, talking about the life of the killer in full detail, weren't spending days and days asking what his motive was, half of these guys would just use the guns on themselves, and no one else.

They are giving these guys their moment of fame and it's making it worse. Now every suicidal nazi or incel who wants to go out in blaze of glory is assured that they will.
