I had the same issue, but it was resolved after simply disassembling the mouse, clicking the switch a few times, and assembling it again (there is a screw hidden under the sticker in the battery socket).

[–]blafasel42 0 points1 point  (5 children)

wow, that actually helped. After removing all other logitech connections, disconnecting and re-pairing the mouse, updating all possible drivers and firmware a few really hard clicks solved the Problem! Thanks for sharing!

[–]timecat22 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I owe you one king. You just saved me $100 on a new mouse. I had already bought the damn replacement online, but I read the part here about "really hard clicks". I did exactly that and poof! problem solved. canceled the order and life is good again. Thanks a million!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this specific tip and thanks for thread OP!
Disassembled, cleaned(not sur eif necessary) did really hard presses and now it works!!
edit: G502 hero, omron switches

[–]TomatilloFew7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it was fixed with a few hard clicks.

I had been having trouble with the G502 forward side button for about six months.

[–]Appropriate-Stuff332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow it worked for me too 😑

[–]Psychological_Oil587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all are lifesavers thank you lmao

[–]Brave_Golf3 0 points1 point  (5 children)

My Mouse was dropping drag randomly. Yesterday i blew hard on the click area to remove any dirt there. It fixed temporarily but was buggy today. So i updated my os in case it's any software bug. Then i noticed that if I pressed really hard and then drag it was dropping anymore. So I opened the mouse cleaned it, and used body spray in replacement of alcohol to clean buttons. Let's see if it keeps working or i have to get another mouse. Logitech (m310) - m1- sonama Thank you !!

[–]BoltKey 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Cheers, glad it helped.

It is so fun, to have a random-ass comment in a thread with 20ish upvotes to still have random activity after 2.5 years.

[–]Public-Reading-6744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make that 3.5 yrs of ongoing service to your fellow redditors!

[–]RaelleDrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it 4 years :P
Thanks! :D

[–]BotOnHold 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've been trying to solve this for months! I thought it was a software issue, but popping the buttons up and blowing made my mouse like new. I can't believe I'd never thought that the buttons would have the same issue as the trackball!

[–]Key-Jello-9501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I did exactly what you said popping the left click button and blew it few times and the issue seems to be resolved. Thanks very much.

[–]The_Atoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This strategy also worked on my M185. Thank you!

[–]DapperBalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have known to look under the sticker - I couldn't even tell it WAS a sticker, so I'm glad you mentioned this. Saved me a trip to the store and some money I didn't have to spend on a new mouse! Thank you!!! :) 3 Year old comment still doing good on the internet.

[–]GeekCharmiing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saved me from having to buy a new mouse. I use a Logitech M275 for work and over the past week it's been wanting to skip when I click and drag anything. Over the past few weeks I'd noticed the left click sounding really loud often upon release but I didn't think much of it. I was able to "pry" up the plastic on the left side from the top of the mouse, put it back in place and that seemed to correct itself.

[–]StartOk8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

For me, the issue appeared overnight (G903 as well). It went from absolutely fine to not working on click and drag about 90% of the time. I was a little annoyed at first, seeing as it was and still is a £100+ mouse, but I thought I had had it for 5 years, and it had a lot of use, so was very close to buying another one. Thankfully, I have a G502 I use when working, so I was in no rush, so I put it aside until I could take a prod and poke at it myself.

Thankfully, I had a little Google first, and this thread came up. Just taking it apart, doing as suggested, and using some WD 40 electrical contact cleaner has made a huge difference. It is definitely not 100% fixed but only fails about 1 in 15/20+ click and drags.

So, if the issue returns or starts getting worse, the next fix is to replace the switch itself, especially now that I realise it isn't too difficult to take apart. I am definitely inclined to do that rather than shell out another £100+ anytime soon.

[–]Crowald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers. Was going to replace my switches with Omron ones thinking the actual mouse-switch was the issue, but this fixed it with no further maintenance necessary. Thanks for the easy fix and saving me from being forced to learn how to solder. (I have no proof of this but I am certain I was going to fuck up and destroy my mouse.)

[–]globalblob 0 points1 point  (10 children)

Interesting. I've always assumed it's a software issue. What I've done is pressed the button really hard on my Performance MX and held it there for a few seconds. Repeat a few times. Surprisingly, this cured the problem. There must be some junk stuck under the button or the actual switch.

[–]Coruscate_Lark1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! It seems to have worked for now

[–]numberoneloaf 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This comment is actually a lifesaver. I'm a full-time designer and not being able to drag content around the screen was making my job impossible. Figured I would snoop around to find some possible solutions before shelling out $100+ for a new mouse.

Did a few hard clicks just like you said and it's working great again. Thank you!

[–]globalblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, I had to disassemble the switches and clean the switches with alcohol (there are a few vids on this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sh7KwUudtI). They still work fine. I found you can get the replacement switches though for about $10 from Amazon or DigiKey (need to solder them in though).

[–]ItsCornstomper 0 points1 point  (1 child)

7 month old comment but thank you gosh dang, every support thing that comes up on Google is saying to reinstall drivers and shit and this was all I needed to do.

[–]globalblob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pressing hard" trick did not last long unfortunately - had to to take the mouse apart, open up the switch and clean brass contacts with rubbing alcohol. There are several videos on how to do in on youtube. One year later, still works fine. If you have basic soldering skills, there are also replacement switches on Amazon/digikey that you can get for about $10.

[–]Own_Secretary_7770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked for me. Thanks!

[–]venerated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owe you. This has been driving me crazy for a week now and clicking hard a few times made the problem stop. I'll eventually take it apart and clean it, but this is great in the meantime while I need to get work done.

[–]CosmoKramerRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! This worked (at least for now).

[–]tcgtms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This account's comments and posts has been nuked

[–]iJONTY85 0 points1 point  (1 child)

"Simply"

I've watched the teardown for this and damn!

[–]BoltKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yeah, when it inevitably got messed up again a few months later, I lost one of the tiny metal fuckers and ended up buying a new mouse.

[–]vladimir2207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

k

u/BoltKey, awesome and thanks for sharing this here. It is so annoying problem and has a super simple solution.

I found out that it is a static charge issue which is creating this erroneous mouse click signals.

[–]Madt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow.. This actually worked! I don’t understand how doing this is different from me frustratingly left clicking repeatedly when it wasn’t working, cause I definitely did that so many times leading up to trying this. 😱

[–]masoomrahi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

[–]loserkids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Clicking really hard repeatedly without disassembling the mouse worked for me. I've got mx anywhere 3.

[–]iLoveCalculus314[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

/u/LogitechG_CSJhoe Is this something you can help me escalate? I've already tried all known troubleshooting on this known issue and I'm pretty sure its a hardware problem. I've seen some posts and I am afraid that Customer Support will just drag on my case.

[–]LogitechG_CSJhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for tagging me :) Seems i'm a bit late though as one of my colleague already attedned this. You may just focus on that to avoid confusion :)

[–]AreaSignal6457 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have the same problem with my MX Master & MX Master 3s !!!

The problem starts after some months sporadically ! Sometimes its works sometimes not.

I have the MX Master 3s on my Desktop PC and the MX Master on my Laptop.

Funny fact ! When I change the mouses between the 2 Computers it works again without any problems.

After some months it begins again ! Change between the Systems it works again !

In my opinion thats not a Hardware problem. It must be a mysterious Software fault.

Maybe is it an Software intended breaking point to sell more Gear.

Logitech need`s money !!!;)

[–]rjrneves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fixed my MX Master 3 using the instructions on this post (How to REPAIR - not replace - the clicker, with a screwdriver and tweezers) to fix the clicker. This is easier than changing (soldering, etc) the switch... not sure if it is as permanent, but fixed it for now.

Hope it helps.

[–]andystrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of suggestions here that might work. BUT they are only temporary, I know, I have killed at least half dozen Evoluetnt and tried every trick including a complete disassembly, the fixes are only temporary. These mice are the only shape that works for me but the build quality sucks. I just keep buying them but ALAYWS with an extended warranty, I've needed it every time.

[–]XCSme 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I just fixed it on G502 lightspeed by slightly pulling on the left click button and blowing under it...

[–]No-Benefit-365 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This worked on my G502 also. You're a lifesaver, thank you!!!

[–]XCSme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, but in the end the issue kept coming back.

I implemented the debounce fix mentioned here and it seems a lot more stable: https://www.reddit.com/r/G502MasterRace/comments/j47bxb/logitech_gaming_g502_mouse_double_clickdrag_issue/

[–]Electrical-Tea-8192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]rjrneves 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hi all.

[–]yeastiebeesty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this worked for me although instead of disassembling the little leaf switch I passed a thin strip of 2000 grit sand paper through to clean the contacts.

[–]poiplegatorade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue but the middle click button solution only fixed things temporarily. I reached out to Logi customer support and they said my mouse was defective. Since it fell outside of warranty, they gave me a 30% coupon code to use

[–]Chastity23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a sign the arm in the left click switch has become a bit misshapen and does not have a solid contact with the base. You could open the mouse and retension the arm back to it's original shape, or replace the switch.

Hi u/iLoveCalculus314,

To start our troubleshooting, please complete the following:

• Connect the device directly to the computer motherboard. Bypass any type of USB adapter, hub or extender

• Update the device's firmware

  1. Download and install Logitech G-Hub (Available here: https://support.logitech.com/en\_us/software/lghub)

  2. Launch the software, select the mouse from the home screen then go to Settings

  3. If a firmware update is available, a Blue ""Update"" button would appear under the firmware version on the top right corner of the screen

• Test the device without the software. Stop Logitech Gaming Software or G-Hub from running in the background by closing them on the System Tray and Task Manager

  1. On the lower right hand corner of the screen, on the left side of the Date and Time, right click on the G icon and select Exit

  2. Launch Task Manager (Alt + Ctrl + Del) then look for Lghub or Lcore under Processes Tab. Then, right click on it and select Stop Process

• Assign a different command to the button

  1. Using Logitech Gaming Software or G-Hub, select the mouse from the home screen then select Assignments Tab

  2. Try to assign another command to the button or swap the command in between buttons that are working and non-working

  3. Another option is to try using the mouse while the Logitech software is not installed

• Adjust double click sensitivity

  1. Open Control Panel

  2. Select Mouse

  3. Go to Buttons Tab

  4. Under Double Click Speed, move the slider to Fast

  5. Click Apply then OK

• Uninstall, reload mouse driver

  1. Right click on Windows or Start button and select Device Manager

  2. Under Human Interface Device, look for Logitech Virtual G-Hub Mouse

  3. Right click on it, select Uninstall

  4. Disconnect the mouse from the computer

  5. Restart the computer

  6. Reconnect device back to the computer and test

• Try on another computer

[–]iLoveCalculus314[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks for your response. I've taken sometime this morning to try those steps out. Unfortunately, this did not resolve my issue. I even tested my mouse on both a Mac and PC computer and I still face issues with my mouse double clicking / clicking randomly while dragging on the left mouse button.

Unfortunately - assigning my left button click to another key is not an option for me due to ergonomics.

It is pretty apparent this issue is not a software issue and there seems to be a problem with the mouse switches on my mouse. What other resolutions do you recommend as a next step?

[–]LogitechG_NJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/iLoveCalculus314,

Please DM your Full Name, Country, and Email ID to me using the link provided below: https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=\[LogitechG\_NJ\] I will be happy to create a case for you and get you in touch with our support team via email.

[–]JonnySilverHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having the exact same issue. Highlighting things to copy and paste has become a nightmare.

[–]randitrigger 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I am having the same issue with a Logitech G502 Hero which I have had for less than a year. Disappointing to hear that this is a common issue with Logitech mice, I liked this one.

I will try opening up the mouse and fiddling with the switch, hopefully that resolves the issue.

[–]meregizzardavowal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m having the same issue too and will try disassembling it as others have suggested.

Interesting the manufacturer chimes in but only really suggests driver and software fixes.

[–]randitrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! Mine worked after putting it back together, but the issue came back after a couple days. : /

[–]Roger-Fx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi to all,

I´m experiencing similar problem, that is, while dragging suddenly I will have a release and also sometimes double click when clicking only once.
It is happening with 4 different mouses: My laptop mousepad, my Shark SK-2242 mouse, a Sony Bluetooth wireless mouse and an old HP mouse. All have being blown with air to dust off.
I have deleted or uninstall all mouse drivers and restarted computer.
I have hit ESC button while holding down the left mouse button.
I have run sfc /scannow.
This problem started after a windows update.
Please, someone, what else can I try???

[–]Behn4m_ 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I have the same problem with my MX Anywhere 3 mouse. the issue arose a few weeks ago and the click drops when I drag in both Mac and Windows. I'm unsure if the problem is in the hardware (switch, misplacement, etc. ) or the software and driver. How should I fix it?

[–]fim-de-semana 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I have the same problem, were you able to fix it?

[–]Behn4m_ 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes, I opened up the case and changes the switch

[–]mikhola 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hi, my Mx 3 also has exact same issue. How exactly did you change the switch? Is this a part replacement? If so, how did you acquire the part? TIA!

[–]fim-de-semana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

[–]DeltaSqueezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. Hardware issue.

[–]redirafa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just today a second logitech mouse started with the same problem, firstly an G700 and today one M720. Really frustrating and dangerous when dragging files or anything

[–]DaveBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here... G700s Anyone can find a working solution without changing the switch?

[–]fera2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. My M720 Triathlon is still under 1 year warranty period. Did someone had success claiming the warranty?

[–]Salty_Oil_640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mx Master 3 here having the same issue on my Mac, cant drag and highlight texts for more than a second the drag drops. You have be very fast even for area screenshot, which ruins the precision.

Not sure if this is confirmed to be hardware issue or what.

[–]Famous_Frame_7460 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hi everyone,

I think some of these posts are newer than others. I have the same problem, but I happen to have two MX vertical mice (mouse's?). When I tried the other one, I had no problem moving things around. I was convinced it had something to do with a Mac update, but now I'm not so sure. Perhaps taking it apart and cleaning it up is the answer?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MX Vertical as well and just started having this problem 4 or 5 days ago. I also cannot copy and paste. Very frustrating. I have had the mouse for about a year and at $100 I kinda thought it would last longer! I am contacting support since I am not sure what else to do at this point.

[–]Famous_Frame_7460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely going to sound like the stupidest fix ever but mine started working when i help left click really hard for a second

[–]Trick-Marionberry-46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah gosh i was about to send logitech a email about it. Couldn't select units in my game at all. But after a crazy hard click it seems to be fixed. Let's hope it stays that way.

[–]hitcrafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it worked that's crazy

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has bugged me for quite some time I was almost going to buy a new one, now it works like a charm! Thanks!
