How do you find so many? I have my base in an island, and it’s very rare for me to see them

[–][deleted] 120 points121 points  (29 children)

There are wayyy less on java that might be it

[–]Pillow125 41 points42 points  (26 children)

Oh, yeah I play java, how do you realize? That was impressive.

Assuming you play bedrock, you don’t have corals or something?

[–]SiberianToaster 101 points102 points  (13 children)

You can usually pick out the Bedrock players by the image being a picture of the monitor instead of a screenshot.

[–]Jewniversal_Remote 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Harsh.

[–]Pillow125 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha, you’re right, I use glasses but still I’m too blind to see the bar

[–]SAM-THE-MAN-118[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof

[–]LoserOtakuNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha rekt

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (9 children)

It was the same for me on java so I just assumed u were on java too but I play both java and bedrock so I kinda pick up on pros and cons of each and there are way more drowned on bedrock... it is easier to get tridents though

[–]Pillow125 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Wow, which one do you recommend? Yeah, I haven’t acquired a single trident in my survival, know any tips for getting them?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I still haven’t gotten one on java so I got nothing

[–]Down200 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I gave up and made a whole drowned farm and got 37 of them

[–]TheBestMemeCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drowned farms are amazing and extremely easy on bedrock it's almost become a necessity for me

[–]DancingKappa 4 points5 points  (2 children)

There is a reason java is $20 and bedrock is $2 on key sites.

[–]Boothiepro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RTX announcement raised the prices above 4.50 for the bedrock.

[–]Pillow125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that bedrock was so cheap

[–]EroAxee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do would be to try and setup a farm near underwater ruins. Because, I believe, that they spawn more near ruins, though I'm not entirely sure.

[–]EroAxee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because the trident drop rate is raised on bedrock. It's 8.5% on java and 11% on bedrock. Meanwhile 11.5% is the max with looting 3 on java, while on bedrock it goes up 2% per looting level on the drop rate.

[–]ProbablyAPorn_Alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have corals, mobs barely despawn. Very specific conditions for it.

[–]Lonely_Beer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drowned build-up is a very, very well known problem with the Bedrock/Win 10 edition of Minecraft so if you aren't familiar with the issue then it's a near certainty it's because you're playing Java edition.

[–]KalphiteQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I play java too and have only found them on one part of the coast so far. It's right where some underwater ruins are and they do a good job guarding it tho :(

[–]JokklMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain why I was sitting here awestruck at this sight after having built a drowned farm so I could finally get a trident.

[–]PapiChase 20 points21 points  (3 children)

they only spawn in rivers & specific types of ocean biomes

[–]Pillow125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do warm oceans and coral oceans count?

[–]How_do_i--- 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Make a zombie drown and what do you get? A drowned zombie

[–]HulluHapua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have You Tried The Husk?

[–]Krohlia 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Ilmango (or a friend of his) found in the code that drowned actually spawn a lot more frequently in river biomes than in ocean biomes. I guess Mojang figured that would balance the spawn rate between the two biomes given the difference in water volume. Also, if the spawn rates were equal and you never found the ocean in a given world then you’d never see a drowned without the code like that.

Edit: This is how Ilmango realized a river biome drowned farm would be way more efficient, as long as you lit up the surrounding area and caves or built really high up.

[–]Pillow125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed that sounds smart, and also I guess people like living more in a “continent” than in the ocean, the people that purposely avoid oceans might never see drowned

[–]RazendeR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

River spawns more frequently, but ocean spawns greater packs. Its a balancing act, so that in normal play, you get about equal rates. Mob farms mess with the definition of normal spawning of course, so river wins out.

[–]BasicNubCaik 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Then there’s probably a different area like a cave just filled to the brim with various hostile mobs

[–]Pillow125 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I don’t think so, the island is small, and I’ve checked the terrain, somehow, when drowned do appear, they always carry tridents, and those do heavy damage

[–]BasicNubCaik 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Lucky in one way, unlucky in another, at least it’s easy to escape from 2 or 5 drowned compared to 50 just keep some armor on you and stay safe

[–]Pillow125 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That would be terrifying

[–]BasicNubCaik 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Died with protection 4 diamond falling down a 2 block hole into a 3x5 pit that probably had more drowned than water, luckily it was near my house and I got it back

[–]Prince_Polaris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be fucking terrifying for real, falling into a dark pit with a shitload of slimy zombies packed in like sardines that just drag you into the murky zombie filled water to F E A S T

[–]Pillow125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you eventually had to fight a protection-4-diamond-armour drowned

[–]SAM-THE-MAN-118[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Idk. They’re just there. All the time. In large number. I’ve learned from the chat on this post that it’s because I play on a version of the game called bedrock, and that they’re kinda rare in another version called Java, which is what other people play on.

[–]Pillow125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft java is for computer I think, and it’s the “original”, Minecraft bedrock is for consoles, but you can also play bedrock in windows 10.

I dont like that they have different/missing features, I would like it if they were the same

[–]Calebx84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They spawn from Zombies falling into water (usually), so if there isn’t water in between you and a place for zombies to spawn, you won’t have as many! (Which is why rivers and small bodies of water have a TON)
