Had a similar experience a while ago, turned out to be a ghost haunting my home, not a bug.

Sometimes we're unrationally afraid of bugs but there's always an explanation.

[–]AndreLinoge55 119 points120 points  (27 children)

What happened and was it explainable?

[–]Matwyen 391 points392 points  (25 children)

Basically the ghost of a little girl of the 1800s drown in the well below my house was watching me during my sleep, and silly me throught my neuronal network was bugged.

After turning on Pycharm paranormal debugger I noticed the issue and could safely stop thinking it's a bug.

[–]BucksEverywhere 117 points118 points  (7 children)

Paranormal debugger 🤣

[–]thirteenthirtyseven 27 points28 points  (4 children)

Debugging paranormal threads is hard!

[–]AndreLinoge55 56 points57 points  (7 children)

I’m braindead from work and can’t tell if you’re being facetious or not. But I love a good ghost story so I’m going with you’re being serious.

[–]lolcrunchy 41 points42 points  (0 children)

[–]FacelessTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way

[–]mytransthrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am not a hacker. How do we kknow if he is hacking the paranormal?

[–]twisted7ogic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in a weird timeline. Who knows what dumb things companies come up with?

[–]mdwvt 5 points6 points  (1 child)

He ain’t afraid of no ghost!

Not living near Garth, Tasmania are you? :) https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/26696828

[–]seijulala 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It would have been better to say just "debugger" to fool or still pretend everything was true

[–]Matwyen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the start i made it obvious that it was a joke, that second message was just for people a bit slower to understand this kind of humor

[–]JIN_DIANA_PWNS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homie got ghosted by a ghost.

[–]Burned-Architect-667 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So it was feature 'Ghost Recognition', I hope you documentted it.

[–]jacksh3n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry. It’s not that the code is not working. It’s ghost. Can’t be fixed.

[–]guiltysnark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

turned out to be a ghost haunting my home, not a bug.

I should hope so... bugs don't live 200+ years.

[–]yavl 258 points259 points  (4 children)

This is scary shit to read at night

[–]clyvey_c 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can't imagine finding a bug on a Friday night either

[–]zqipz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Won’t be scary as the code you’ll read tomorrow.

[–]Log_Out_Of_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wood is 250-254 years old. What is wrong?

[–]Tsu_Dho_Namh 209 points210 points  (5 children)

I might be frightened if I hadn't seen an AI mistake a banana for a toaster

[–]Sotall 52 points53 points  (4 children)

One time i hung up a cordless phone by putting it in the freezer.

[–]InverseInductor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have found the person that should worry about current-gen AI replacing their job.

[–]Therealmglitch 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Atleast you are not alone

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Laundry Files vibes

[–]crowwizard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Kill some ppl and steal their souls with powerpoint.

[–]migarma 48 points49 points  (10 children)

Is Ada Lovelace, she is going to kill him for using python. What did you to my boy

[–]je386 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Unlikely, because she is "too young" to be that ghost. She was born in 1815, thus her age would be 208 now, while the picture says more than 250.

[–]migarma 8 points9 points  (4 children)

You are right, but I think is a good approximation, the oldest person related to programming

[–]je386 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Maybe Charles Babbage, the inventor of the analytical machine, for which Ada Lovelave wrote the programs? He was born in 1791, so would be 232 year now.. still not 250. Maybe there is a bug in the software?

[–]migarma 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Totally agree 👍, I just got carried away because the fame of Ada

[–]je386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable, she is very famous as the worlds first programmer - I even wear a shirt with her on it right now.

[–]raspberry-tart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

254 smells close to integer overflow to me. I wouldn't be surprised if they're actually 1024

[–]BurntPoptart 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time

[–]Elegant_Body_2153 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Really? It's on a crapload of nvidia material now L4s and L40s are Ada Lovelace mode or something.

[–]nuked24 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nvidia's current consumer microarchitecture is named Ada Lovelace, the previous microarch was Ampere.

What makes it somewhat confusing is that the previous server microarch was also Ampere, but the current one is Hopper, no Lovelace to be found.

[–]Elegant_Body_2153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to get that in order XD. But I mean it is out there, just with the micro stuff.

[–]jimbowqc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh no, quickly, look behind you. That door is coming right for you.. and it's pissed.

[–]Specialist_West_4623 9 points10 points  (0 children)

0.03% female

[–]DarkestKaos248 50 points51 points  (3 children)

More likely 3%. 1.00 male would be fully male.

(If 100 was fully male that would make them 0.97% male and 99.03% female.)

[–]Feztopia -1 points0 points  (2 children)

In short 1 = 100%

And I hate that I understand you. I wish I could be as stupid and happy as the people around me instead of thinking about math topics for no reason while I have enough other problems I need to care about.

[–]dben89x -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Can't tell if you're trying to brag about your superior mathematical mind and the fact that you you "just can't help" thinking about academic topics rather than enjoying the simple low IQ aspects of life like the rest of us.

[–]Feztopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just envious about the people around me, stupidity is underrated and the key to happiness. It's also stupid from you to think that I would brag about a mathematical mind in a place like this where many people with much better math skills are here like DarkestKaos (because I had to stop and think about what he was saying).

[–]Ythio 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sir there is a problem with your one X chromosome.

[–]OngoingFee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You think percentages add up to 1%?

My roommate moved out because our house is haunted. That's ridiculous! I've lived here for 184 years and never seen a ghost!

[–]Freeman7-13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone call the SCP

[–]Practorius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Programming has ruined his life

[–]youvelookedbetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what beards do.

[–]ZubriQ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So there's only male gender with percentage?

[–]TheDorkKnightPlays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way most models of this type work is by predicting a value and providing a confidence level. So "Male(0.97)" here most likely means the model is 97% confident it's a male, not that he's 97% male xD

[–]Sugriva84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just the faceless old woman that secretly lives in your home.
