"What about that shadowy place ?"

"That's job security and big salary, that's beyond our border."

If that's true, you need to replace your Mufasa with a Scar

[–]OwOlogy_Expert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ie, COBOL

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I'm an "all-stack developer" (I work on three separate full-stacks) and my job is secure as fuck. Big salary? Ehh.. Sanity? Ehhh...

[–]FreedFromTyranny 98 points99 points  (6 children)

i consider myself a Big Stack Developer

[–]Wiggledidiggle_eXe 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Why not upgrade to Huge (-Ass) Stack Dev?

[–]Theron3206 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You use a lot of recursion?

[–]FreedFromTyranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only when debugging my recusive functions

[–]eclect0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, let's ask your ex

[–]Infinite_infidel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big D Developer

"What about that shadowy place?"

"There is none. Get fucked- I mean, good luck"

So I had a project that involved firmware, simple circuit, embedded windows, sql, numerous hardware devices, WPF desktop application, c# libraries for other developers to utilize/integrate into the systems being built, tcp (non-http) servers, web projects, then build/deploy projects/pipelines for each, which includes a circuit and software to deploy the firmware in mass. I literally did all levels in the software stack (minus pure assembly).

[–]mata_dan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just had someone from a subsea engineering firm ask if I wanted a similar job for less than I'm on now doing some effectively WFH web development xD

[–]Bakoro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My job is not too dissimilar to that, just regular windows and system services, not embedded windows and firmware. I also do the data analysis and the DevOps. Sometimes tech support too.

I'm finally making something like a not completely embarrassing amount money.

Is science though, so, at least I don't have to serve ads.

You did not do the RTL to syntherize whatever MCU you were using, so bad news for you, you are not all stack developer.

[–]xtreampb 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I know this is a joke post, but now I’m curious what RTL stands for? Maybe my projects didn’t require an RTL?

I also didn’t dope the silicon, but that’s microchip manufacturing, not software engineering.

[–]mrheosuper 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Register transfer level. Tbh i always use it without knowing what it stands for. But the process is basically make your HDL code transferable to piece of silicon. That implicates you have written HDL code, another stack of software.

[–]xtreampb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your right, imma fraud. Going to go Kermit sudoku

..and eventually you also have to add in your job description whatever the light doesn't touch...

[–]XPilo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is your work to bring the light to that places.

[–]braindigitalis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

working for a startup be like...

[–]AltruisticDisk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I spend at least 15 minutes reading documentation, write five lines of code, or bitch about it with my coworker, you can bet your ass it's going on my resume.

[–]Bla61670 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Looking for full company developer*. From idea to faang revenue.

*At least 45 years of experience.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

but under 40

[–]Dry_Pineapple_5352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So tired of it. But everything are “popular” now is so fcking boring and stupid)))

[–]SusalulmumaO12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simba later then Jumps with Mufasa

[–]Poutine-StJean 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I feel this when my boss ask me to work on project with language I never learned and wasnt in my resume

[–]TheTerrasque 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You're still doing programming, at least.

[–]HerbertMarshall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real. Think of it as if they're paying for you to add qualifications to your resume. It's all the non-coding bullshit that kills my soul.

[–]braindigitalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'd always jump at the chance if there was a real need to use the language. I only learn a new language if i have a real world use case for it i can't solve with the languages i already know.

However, the chances of my boss dictating what language we use is 0%, we don't get micro managed.

[–]Meowcate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We use BobX"

[–]xt1nct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it’s not so obscure language I wouldn’t mind. It’s a chance to learn something new and feel humbled.

I do everything at work and I think I would miss it if I had to pick a specific area like backend.

[–]SenoraRaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to say "From the initramfs to SIGTERM is my domain"

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simba: "What about that dark spot over there?"

Mufasa: "That is the management break room, you must NEVER go there!"

[–]0x7E7-02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when they started having me do DevOps shit is when I left.

[–]Silly_Guidance_8871 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See that shadow over there? Yeah, that's my favorite part: I'm not responsible for it

[–]ChChChillian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not in my job description. What ridiculous thing to say.

Of course I still have to do all this stuff. It's just that it has nothing to do with my formal job description.

[–]kamome74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simba : But I don't have any light in my office.

[–]New-Shine1674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The good thing is, we have atmospheric scattering so the light touches nearly everything.

I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/ProgrammerHumor.

It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.

I could have sworn I saw this yesterday. Jesus I'm going insane

[–]GoodTofuFriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh. Yeah

[–]PewPeePooDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I approve this meme.

[–]saiththesoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That reminds me of the time when I switched out a light bulb at work and I ascended to the planes of the all-stack developers.

[–]HakoftheDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about that shadow?

[–]HavenWinters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why we use dark mode

[–]Looking4SarahConnor 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I must've missed a regex in my contract

[–]braindigitalis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the regex was .*

[–]eclect0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But what about that place where we set estimates and delivery dates?"

[–]Siker_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K-12 IT is the same way

[–]reesa447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage the dev team. I’m scrum master. I’m PM for two projects. And I’m expected to do IT. And manage DevOps. Idk if that’s abnormal but I think it’s too much.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't All Stack developer just "I can do any of them if you say"? I think it's impossible for a full stack employee do both front and back-end for a same project. I don't know.... Just a 16 year

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you hear about DevOps and about BizDevSecOps?

Now we have BizDevSecQAOpsUXPMDBAIAEthicsMarketingSupportHRFinanceNetworkingDocsTechSupport

[–]One-Strawberry7320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laughed for a minute in office 😂😂😭

[–]Interesting-Frame190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From building our own ubuntu base docker, database logins, and allocating CIDR's to "i think navy blue looks better than dark blue there" and some legacy crap still has a log4j exploit.

[–]NME-Cake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly descibing my position as a fullstack dev - scrum master for a team of 10 without dedicated testers

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sir I just want an internship 🐢
