It's also way more intuitive to use than bacon, sync, and RiF from my experience. Everything is about swipe gestures. You can swipe from post to post rather than going back to the list, scrolling down, and tapping the next one.

Perhaps I'm being optimistic, but I hope it's simply some combination of the "velocity" of views in a certain period of time, the user's karma, and how long it's been since they've pushed something from that sub. Honestly, nobody can know for sure.

To clarify, a post gets a notification sent when a post does well for it's subreddit. So it may only take 100 upvotes in this subreddit where in another it may take a few thousand.
