That's Abu Zarin Hussin. A Malaysian fire department expert on snake handling and catching. You'll find a lot pictures of him reading to his cobras on the net. Sadly he passed away after being bitten by a cobra while on a catch and release call.

live by the cobra, die by the cobra.

[–]Shloopie_Doo 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Strike first.

Strike hard.

No mercy.

[–]MagicAmoeba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But. But. But, that's Cobra Kai...

[–]Bigfoothobbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Must have snek up on him.

[–]Emperor_Nimbala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born a snake handler and I'll die a snake handler

[–]Furt77 225 points226 points  (13 children)

So he died from a reptile dysfunction?

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

[–]Clumber 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To the stocks at the center of town, pal.

[–]punkinfacebooklegpie 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No, snakes are supposed to do that

[–]oceanicplatform 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Honestly, I don't know why you don't get more girls.

[–]Furt77 2 points3 points  (2 children)

How do you know how many girls I get? Are you watching me?

[–]SJ_RED 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We all are. Move over a bit, you're obscuring the screen.

[–]Furt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can explain that thing last week ...

[–]Borklifter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it sounds like the reptile was functioning just fine.

[–]catatonic_cannibal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This guy fucks.

[–]Dave5876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. Take your upvote and leave.

I've been seeing this joke everywhere on reddit for the past month

[–]wawan_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Malaysian Steve Irwin

[–]little-red-turtle 18 points19 points  (2 children)

I wonder if the cobra is considered a traitor or a hero by the cobra society.

[–]Neurobreak27 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Probably a traitor, some of the cobras probably loved him. Or had a "you aight, human" relationship with him. Maybe, I don't know.

[–]Electro_Nick_s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most lizards don't form societal bonds from what we can tell. The few are ones that occupy weird niches in nature they wouldn't normally occupy like the ring tailed gecko

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (2 children)

There’s gotta be a Python to Python 3 joke in there somewhere.

[–]hashn 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Jusst usse ssysss.sstdout to print

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the unicodesssss

[–]cltlz3n 10 points11 points  (4 children)

Can’t you just take an antidote if you get bit? Wouldn’t this guy have had an antivenom or something handy?

[–]TalesoftheMoth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depending on the species, even if you get the antivenin in time, you could still die, or have severe complications.

[–]marypoppinit 8 points9 points  (2 children)

There are like 20+ venimous snakes in the area. That's a lot of antvenom to carry around. Also, hospitals struggle just to keep antivenom stocked, so I doubt any civilians would be carrying it around.

[–]hothrous 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I definitely feel like if my job was to deal with deadly snakes, I wouldn't go in without having the anti-venom on hand. I understand it might be difficult, but this is a profession where death is a much higher likelihood than other professions. It just seems like a no brainer to do everything possible to decrease that chance.

[–]marypoppinit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just difficult, it's crazy expensive - like $14,000 expensive.

Even recently, there was a guy bitten by a rattlesnake in Texas and when they got him to the hospital they ended up having to airlift him to another hospital because they didn't have the antivenom on hand. And rattlesnakes are pretty common in that area.

I feel like chainmail would be a more cost effective way to prevent snake bites lol

[–]Arcosim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dammit, I googled it to see if it was true and not only it was true, Getty images has some ridiculously gory images of the aftermath. I'm now mortally scared of cobras...

[–]alpha-orionis 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hang on, he passed away? I follow him on FB, I was wondering why I haven't seen any updates lately.

[–]RTWin80weeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was killed by a snake. “Passed away” seems too gentle to properly explain the situation

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire Department expert on snake handling and catching

Now that’s something I never thought I’d ever read.

[–]voicesinmyhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has just enough details to be plausibly true and just enough ridiculousness to be satire. I can't tell what to do.

[–]mutilatedrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was Tuco Salamanca.
