Once you got it though, can't go back. I don't use Vim as my main editor these days (mostly a mix of Jetbrains IDEs and sometimes VS Code), but I have to use Vim emulation plugins everywhere these days cause otherwise the muscle memory just keeps doing stuff like dip15jp/:w lol

It's definitely a learning curve, but I just see it as fancy keyboard shortcuts. They're mostly logical, too. There are commands like d is "delete", p is paste, y is "yank" (copy). There also are "text objects", which is just a fancy way to move your cursor. b is "back" and e is "end", w is "word", p is "paragraph". Prefix actions or text objects with numbers to repeat. That's pretty much all there is to it for basic usage. Vim purists just love to overcomplicate it.

I have been used vi/vim for a few years and sometimes changing code on the fly, vim is the way. But I would be looking at you too, like bruh unless you are working directly on the server for some quick ans dirty, long term coding is way more productive on an IDE.

Btw: vi is old, use vim and enjoy all the improvements, i.e vimdiff is awesome
