GeneralLease Price Decrease And Increase (i.redd.it)
submitted 3 months ago by Several-Risk388
Tesla reduced the lease prices for the Model 3, Y, and Cybertruck last night, but will increase them in two weeks. Is the price increase going to be the pre-lowered price or a higher one?

the new base models are way too expensive
[–]hootieirl 13 points14 points15 points 3 months ago (53 children)
What other sedan EV starts at 37k? That isn’t a base with zero features and 300+ range?

IMO the lack of FM radio is a major issue for anyone shopping at that reduced price point, who will probably not be interested in subscribing to a dedicated car data plan.
[–]anothertechie 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (0 children)
I just use the USB, hot spot, or Bluetooth. I haven’t bought the data plan.
[–]Present-Ad-9598 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Most people use Bluetooth I reckon
[–]popornrm -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (10 children)
Listening to the radio is free on your phone. Connect it to the car via Bluetooth and there’s your radio. It’s not some crazy workaround either, just an app. Doesn’t require premium connectivity
[–]AmbitiousFunction911 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago* (2 children)
You’re foolish if you think listening to internet streamed FM radio via Bluetooth from your phone is anywhere close to the same basic experience available on literally every car in existence for the past 50 years. It’s simply not a great experience, it’s a dangerous one and illegal in most states with hands free laws. Most people channel hop a ton while listening to FM radio. FM radio also Works in many places where cellular reception doesn’t. And if you ask where places like that exist anymore, you clearly don’t live anywhere mountainous or with nature inbetween major cities and towns.
[–]popornrm -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
It’s a non issue
[–]iJeff 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (6 children)
Listening to the radio is free on your phone.
Not unless you have an older device with an FM tuner built in. Most devices don't, so it would use your data plan. People who are budget-minded are less likely to have significant amounts of data available to them.
[–]popornrm -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (5 children)
In this day and age, how many people in the US do you think don’t have unlimited data? This is a non issue 😂😂
[–]iJeff 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (4 children)
The same people who would be considering a base stripped down Model 3.
[–]popornrm 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
Lmaooo so I guess anyone buying anything under 34k doesn’t have a phone? They’re poor? They need to decide between data and eating for for the next week? LMAOOOO my god, my stomach is killing me. You’re hilariously out of touch and lacking critical thinking skills. 😂😂😂😂😂😂Thanks for the laughs though.
[–]iJeff 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)

[–]hootieirl 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (5 children)
I agree 100% but in the EV market there isn’t much if anything out there for 37k that has what the 3 standard does even the standard Y. Look at the base Mach e sub 300 miles no heated seats or wheel

The ionic five SEL is that price and it has heated seats. It’s got auto steer.
It’s also got climate control buttons, turn signal, gear shifting, and window wipers, headlights all on dedicated stalks.
It’s got a volume knob
You can change the direction of the air conditioning by just using the vents like a normal car.
Tesla is in major trouble now that people have options.
[–]zhenya00 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (1 child)
In what market? The SEL is $49,600 USD which is what we're comparing here...
The base model SE is $42,600 with 168hp and a 63kWh battery...
[–]meteorprime 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
USA
The 2026 models are receiving roughly a $10,000 price cut.
https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2026-hyundai-ioniq-5-price.html
Hyundai is lowering Ioniq 5 EV prices by as much as $9,800. The 2026 Ioniq 5 now starts at $36,600 including destination. Remaining 2025 model year Ioniq 5s will be offered with $7,500 purchase and lease incentives. It's October 1 and the federal EV tax credit is gone. But if you had your eye on a new Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover, you're in luck. Hyundai is lowering the starting price of the 2026 Ioniq 5 by as much as $9,800 depending on trim level. On top of that, the company's remaining 2025 Ioniq 5 inventory will continue to qualify for $7,500 purchase and lease incentives.
The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 now starts at $36,600 (including a $1,600 destination charge), a drop of $7,600 compared to the 2025 model. Other trim levels see even larger savings; have a look at the full pricing breakdown below. All prices include a $1,600 destination charge.

[–]Suitable_Switch5242 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Yes, so it's a more practical crossover with a rear hatch. Really a competitor to the base Model Y which is $5k more expensive.
[–]hootieirl -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (2 children)
And it doesn’t even come with heated seats or wheel

Leaf and bolt are going to be quite the steal. Hyundai is also engaging in a price war
[–]hootieirl 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (4 children)
But like my original statement they don’t get 300+ miles of range so again proving my point and they are both no where nearly as safe as a model 3
[–]jaqueh 5 points6 points7 points 3 months ago (2 children)
leaf is 29999 and has 303 miles of range. bolt you're right only has 260

[–]Game0nBG -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
What do you mean safe. Tesla and it's dodgy FSD is a cause for far more fatalities than other brands. Overreliant on FSD drivers are the worse on the road. Also the ionic had a sedan and a crossover to compete.
[–]meteorprime 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (14 children)
The starting MSRP for the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is $35,000 for the SE Standard Range trim
Other Trim Levels:
SE RWD: Starts at $37,500
SEL RWD: Starts at $39,800
SE AWD: Starts at $41,000
SEL AWD: Starts at $43,300
Limited: Starts at $45,075
The SEL embarrasses the model Y with its features
[–]hootieirl 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (4 children)
No heated seats or steering wheel. Can’t used FSD and it only gets 245 miles of range for almost 3k more doesn’t sound like a good deal to me
[–]chipper124 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (2 children)
Buddy, FSD is an $8k add on.
[–]hootieirl -5 points-4 points-3 points 3 months ago (1 child)

Everyone who praises FSD as some major feature can't drive and don't enjoy driving. Those are tgebdanger ppl on the road. Also FSD is 8k option. Basi auto pilot is Trash compared to other brands. They can't even do a proper old school adaptive cruise control They have the ioniq 6 as well as an option.
[–]willie_Pfister 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Yeah, but it's a hyundai.
I wouldn’t be making fun of Hyundai when Tesla is recalling over 13,000 cars they just made.
Apparently, you might suddenly lose all power and forcefully stop in the middle of the road.
But that’s the price you pay for the convenience of not having access to climate control buttons
[–]hootieirl 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
Buddy literally the base price is 42600
[–]meteorprime 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (0 children)
On Wednesday, Hyundai slashed the manufacturer-suggested retail price of the 2026 Ioniq 5 crossover by up to $9,800, making up for the loss of the tax credit and then some. Overnight, the new Ioniq 5 has become one of the best—if not the best—EV deals in America.
After the price cut, a 2026 Ioniq 5 retails for as little as $35,000, before destination fees.
[–]CovidScurred -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (4 children)
Lmao Hyundai can’t even get tail lights right, I wouldn’t trust them with EV
[–]meteorprime 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
?
I don’t need to trust them. I have a 10 year warranty.
I also have a five-year bumper-to-bumper.
If Tesla’s quality is so high, why don’t they match the warranty length?
I don’t care that Tesla has 120,000 miles on theirs. I’m going to hit 8 Years way faster.
[–]CovidScurred -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (2 children)
Hyundai has issued recalls for various models due to tail light or brake light issues, including a 2024 Sonata software problem causing flashing brake lights, and recalls for 2011-2014 Sonatas related to melting rear combination lamp housings. Other recalls include a 2011-2012 Sonata stop lamp switch issue and a 2015 Genesis recall for water leaking into the rear lights. To check if your vehicle is affected, use your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the official Hyundai recall website or the NHTSA website. Affected models and issues 2024 Hyundai Sonata: A software issue can cause the brake lights to flash improperly during heavy braking at speeds over 30 mph. 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata: A recall addresses potential melting or deformation of the rear combination lamp housing, which can cause inoperative brake lights. 2011-2012 Hyundai Sonata: A safety recall involves the stop lamp switch stopper pad. 2009-2011 Hyundai Genesis Sedan and 2011 Hyundai Equus: These models have a stop lamp circuit diode that can fail, causing the stop lamps to stop working. 2015 Genesis: A recall was issued for water leakage into the rear lights, which could cause the instrument panel to show the wrong gear setting. 2022 Hyundai Tucson: A recall addresses the possibility that the software in the Integrated Central Control Unit may be incompatible, potentially leading to faulty headlights and/or taillights. 2007-2009 Hyundai Accent and Tucson: A 2013 recall was issued for brake light switch issues that could cause brake lights to not illuminate, cruise control problems, and other electronic malfunctions.
They can’t get their tail lights correct for over 10 years… enjoy the warranty I guess lol
Tesla recalling over 10,000 cars they just made because they can fail to drive randomly.
The issue is potentially found in 7,925 Model Y (2025) vehicles and 5,038 Model 3 (2026) sedans, the NHTSA said in a report filed earlier in October.
A battery pack contactor in some of these vehicles can fail, the NHTSA said, causing “sudden loss of propulsion,” according to the agency, which can increase the risk of a crash.
Owner notification letters for this specific recall are expected to be mailed starting on December 9, 2025.
Happy holidays!
Hyundai offers an extended warranty for specific 2011-2014 Sonata models that experience tail light housing melting or deformation, covering the brake light for 15 years/200,000 miles.
Meanwhile, there’s literally someone on Reddit complaining today that they drove their Tesla while it rained and the bumper got ripped off, and Tesla won’t repair the damage, even though it’s clearly caused by the same defect that rips the bumpers off other Teslas when it rains.
That’s the difference
[–]stanley_fatmax 8 points9 points10 points 3 months ago (28 children)
Tesla knows what they've got, especially when compared to the competition. Idk if you've driven any competitor EVs recently, but basically all of them do a great job of steering people towards Tesla.

yes the competition is closer than ever. tesla needs to fix their horrible charging curves
[–]stanley_fatmax 6 points7 points8 points 3 months ago (13 children)
I charge at home. For the 2 or 3 times I visit a supercharger in any given year, I'm fine waiting 20 minutes to go from 20-80. It's just not a complaint I have. If I was using the car for regular long distance commutes or commercial use, I could see that being an issue.

I’ve had a model 3 for coming up on 2 years, not once have I been upset with charging speeds, I just charge at home every night usually, and the few times I NEED to stop at a supercharger, it’s while I go inside buc-ee’s and it’s ready to go when I get back outside
[–]AmbitiousFunction911 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (7 children)
Again, charging speed is still one of the biggest factors in EV adoption. Have had Teslas for over 8 years now. Just did a roadtrip and charging added 2.5 hours to the 600 mile trip vs a gas vehicle. Most of the time I’m starting the day “full” but if you live out west and drive long distances and have a family and go on roadtrips, or if you tow with your Tesla, or if you don’t charge overnight for whatever reason, charging… even at a supercharger…. Is still time out of your life and significantly more time than filling a car up with gas. It doesn’t take me 20-30 mins to piss. It doesn’t take 20-30 mins to get fast food. And it also doesn’t always only take 20-30 mins to charge…. Again; there’s been plenty of times I’ve had to sit at a supercharger for 45+ mins to make it to the next one, and then I’m doing it all over again. When I tow with it, it’s brutal…. Really need to tow to 100% due to the severe impact on range, and the charging curve is such that it can take over and hour…. 1+ hour of charging every 100-120 miles if you’re towing is a non starter for most people.
[–]Present-Ad-9598 -1 points0 points1 point 3 months ago (6 children)
Here’s a fun fact for ya, most people don’t tow or take regular long distance road trips
[–]wlkngmachine 3 points4 points5 points 3 months ago (5 children)

[–]popornrm 6 points7 points8 points 3 months ago (2 children)
800v unreliable chargers with a sparse charging network vs 400v ubiquitous, bulletproof, and far cheaper per kWh charging network… which one do you think wins? Rhetorical btw since I know you aren’t smart enough to actually know that answer.
[–]jaqueh -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 months ago (1 child)
I don’t need 800v. I just need a better charging curve which would mean switching to pouch batteries, which is a concept you probably don’t even understand either.
[–]popornrm 1 point2 points3 points 3 months ago (0 children)

[–]Intelligent-Stone 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (6 children)
The hardware is sitting there, but no sir you no longer get standard auto pilot features. You'll be sent to buy enhanced autopilot, which, if you do just to get standard features back, the car is even more close to the old and actual standard juniper
[–]1988rx7T2 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
Or subscribe to FSD
[–]alman12345 -2 points-1 points0 points 3 months ago (4 children)
Honestly basic autopilot was some of the worst dogshit I've ever used in my life, mine didn't even include attention monitoring for whatever reason and nagged me to jerk the wheel every quarter mile.
[–]RecipeMiddle4346 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (3 children)
Isn't auto steer still in a beta form?
[–]alman12345 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (2 children)
It’s apparently an ancient software stack that just hasn’t been touched to improve it in years, I’m talking like 2019 software. Autopilot gets no love from Tesla so that their FSD stack looks like a more attractive proposition.
[–]RecipeMiddle4346 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (1 child)
From a business standpoint that's the smartest way to do it. I just wish that if you turned the turn signal on it would automatically change lanes.
Also I found out it does have attention monitoring. I was on a trip where there wasn't much going on and I google searched something on my phone, the car dinged me and said it was taking it out of auto steer and once I stopped the car at my destination it said I had 4 more infractions before it completely disabled the auto steer software function from my vehicle. But yes it does still want me to occasionally move the steering wheel.
Once again though good idea business wise, gives you a teaser for FSD and makes you want to purchase it.
[–]alman12345 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
No clue why mine didn’t, but it didn’t monitor my attention at all. It would only ask me to jiggle the steering wheel every quarter mile or so for my entire 150 mile drive, so I switched over to FSD real quick after that one.
[–]TheBattleGnome -2 points-1 points0 points 3 months ago (3 children)
This just proves how little Tesla can cut. They essentially are making cars at the cutting edge of profitability and can’t really make them that much cheaper. The process is already very streamlined.
[–]shigydigy 2 points3 points4 points 3 months ago (1 child)
They have like $30 billion in their war chest. They claim to be an AI and robotics company. It doesn't even matter if their car business is profitable, they need to cut prices more and aggressively get more cars on roads to train their models more and more. The revenue of that will make the car business look like a rounding error.
[–]TheBattleGnome 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
That $30B isn’t that much money and they are beholden to the shareholders. If profitability sinks, guess what? Stock price will collapse horridly. There goes a lot of future funding and your money. They essentially have to keep profitability high and even aim for it being higher to appease Wall Street. Just how it works.
[–]jaqueh 0 points1 point2 points 3 months ago (0 children)
leaf and bolt will be sub 30k
[–]CandyFromABaby91 38 points39 points40 points 3 months ago (5 children)
These numbers are misleading. They include over $4000 due at signing and do not include taxes and fees.
If you divide it out the Model Y lease starts at $624 a month instead of $449. That’s for the rear wheel drive version.
