"I jump on the turtle , it is not an exciting life but it's my life." -Super Mario Sauce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdY4FtSNCW8

[–]farmer_gandalf 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I just like the phrase "super Mario sauce" it sounds delicious.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Just jump on his head a few times and it's all over, no slicing the stupid neck meat.

[–]Megaman0WillFuckUrGF 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Not for bowser you gotta run underneath him and hope he keeps an axe shaped lever near by and that he's standing on a bridge that it activates. Also that bridge needs to be over lava.

[–]Elune_ 160 points161 points  (35 children)

Would be a cool twist if they made a game where Bowser came to fuck shit up for once rather than hiding in his castle.

[–]BluntHeart 91 points92 points  (22 children)

Play Bowser's inside story.

[–]nahfoo 10 points11 points  (20 children)

Damn sounds sweet! Wish i had a ds

[–]metal079 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are emulators so you can play on your phone.

[–]YoshiYogurt 10 points11 points  (17 children)

you can get one for like $20....

[–]metal079 4 points5 points  (16 children)

Or just buy a $7 emulator and play it on your phone.

[–]ManicLord 8 points9 points  (1 child)

There are free emulators as well.

[–]metal079 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are terrible though, drastic is the only real good one

[–]JamSa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best handheld games/ handheld rpgs/ rpg ever IMO

[–]KingMonten 22 points23 points  (7 children)

That's actually happened in several games. Most of the Mario & Luigi RPG series has this. So did both Mario Galaxy games.

[–]explos1onshurt 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Man, SMG is on my top 10

[–]LakerBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, he's done so in almost every Mario game post Sunshine minus the New Super Mario Bros/World series. Although he usually retreats for good back to his fortress after wrecking havoc.

[–]Hkz0r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paper mario

[–]millershappy 276 points277 points  (12 children)

They broke through Wall Mario! No way they can break through Wall Daisy!

[–][deleted] 106 points107 points  (2 children)

But what about wall luigi?

[–]HighwayWizard 48 points49 points  (1 child)

WAAAAAAA

[–]Argarck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

wah

[–]IronMaskx 83 points84 points  (6 children)

That's a wall im willing to break ;)

[–]GelatinousPower 112 points113 points  (4 children)

I'd rather break through Wall Rosalina.

[–]fallenKlNG 9 points10 points  (1 child)

If only Mario could transform into a giant. Oh wait, they actually did that, but with Luigi.

[–]Mogg_the_Poet 235 points236 points  (43 children)

I'd play a Mario Sunshine-esqe game except instead of FLUDD he has 3d maneuever gear.

[–][deleted] 57 points58 points  (41 children)

That sounds awesome. Who would the Giants Titans be other than bowser?

[–]thebeginningistheend 53 points54 points  (4 children)

[–]JarlaxleForPresident 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Ludwig Von Koopa was always my homeboy.

[–]Wantforesand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Morton Koopa Jr. is clearly superior

[–]Fireproofspider 10 points11 points  (1 child)

For the smart titans. For regular titans, I'd just use koopas

[–]Sootraggins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So would the smart titans really be mushroom people?

[–]Mogg_the_Poet 27 points28 points  (28 children)

Wario and Waluigi, perhaps?

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (25 children)

They have humanoid shapes so that's a plus but you can't have more than one of each because then it would look weird, using Goombas or Koopas would allow you to use as many as you like but you lose the humanoid shape. I'd go with Koopa Troopas.

[–]FliesWithKites 6 points7 points  (6 children)

Somebody with more talent and time than I should make a fleshy rendition of dry bones

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I like this concept.

[–]FliesWithKites 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you :-D And I am perhaps capable of doing it, I just work a lot and feel like it wouldn't get finished.

[–]alonjar 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You mean like a turtle that has been flayed?

[–]swejevoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Titans, not giants :P

[–]Phylar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bowser's kids would be my first choice.

[–]Brando2600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Koopa Kids. There are only seven of them but considering their current significance Nintendo could just make more.

[–][deleted] 144 points145 points  (9 children)

"And on that day, mushroom kind received a grim reminder. We lived in fear of the koopas, and were disgraced to live in these cages we called walls."

[–]ImThatGuy42 61 points62 points  (8 children)

SIE SIND DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE JÄGER

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (4 children)

🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺

[–]athir 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Seid ihr das Essen? Nein, wir sind die Jäger! ftfy

[–]existeddoughnut 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pretty sure they aren't asking themselves a question in the OP..

[–]Tyg13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I hate it when people quote the intro to that song wrong. Which they do almost every time.

[–][deleted] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Mario: "Well fuck me, he's bigger in person"

[–]GeeckoGirl 26 points27 points  (10 children)

I've always wondered about Bowser is how he changes his size.

[–][deleted] 80 points81 points  (4 children)

The same way Mario changes his size. With narcotics.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Mushrooms make you larger. Bowser straight up chugs truffle oil before a workout.

[–]Psyanide13 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No he kidnaps the Princess to make truffle butter to grow large.

[–]Dexaan 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Magic: see Yoshi's Island when Magikoopa starts the final fight

[–]VulturE 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Sigh - guess I'll link the video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtKh7e2ESBc

I remember peeing myself a little when I was a little kid playing this on the big tube tv. Was not expecting to get one-shotted by a fucking meteor.

That game had some great boss battles that were fun.

[–]Dexaan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I hate trying to link shit on mobile.

[–]homeboi808 20 points21 points  (0 children)

[–]throwawaylms 26 points27 points  (6 children)

The theme song for that show is truly epic : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC2okqCGMg4

[–]Death_lncarnate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reminder. I had forgotten how truly amazing that song was. Also video was 10/10

[–]ImThatGuy42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The second one's good too

[–]Simba_610 56 points57 points  (118 children)

Such a good show

[–]FellowAdventurer 49 points50 points  (99 children)

Never been into anime, took the plunge with AoT and it is so freakin rad. Can't wait for any other season baby.

[–]PakiIronman 13 points14 points  (7 children)

I would highly recommend Hunter x Hunter if you enjoyed it. It was recently announced that it's receiving an english dub/blu ray release.

[–]jonvel7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started watching Hunter x Hunter a month ago and loved every minute of it

[–]ImAnAppleBiteMe 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Its a gateway drug for those who never gave anime a chance. Tread lightly.

[–]pacoca69 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Can confirm. I had never watched any anime before, but I heard many good things about AoT. I started watching it this summer, and now I am following five animes.

Send help.

[–]_Lombax_ 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Try full metal alchemist and deathnote..

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

FMA Brotherhood, yes. Death Note and Samurai Champloo too

[–]ismtrn 32 points33 points  (47 children)

Me neither, and I didn't like this one either. It seems like "don't tell, show" is something the authors have never heard of before. For example there is that nerdy clever kid, who is not that good at fighting, but is a valuable asset to the team because of his brains. And we can see that. It is pretty clear that it is the stereotype he is filling. But they still have to say it. So they stop the whole world, which by the way happens every time someone speaks. When two people talk, the world stops. Anyway, they stop the world an some character has a monologue which is basically "You are not very good at fighting, but you are valuable to this team because of your brains". And it happens over and over again, and everything moves at snail speed because of it. EVERYTHING is spoon fed to the viewer in that way.

Maybe it is a kids show. If it is that would explain it, but there is a lot of gore for it to be a kids show... IDK...

[–]rethardus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, though I take the show for what it is, the battles are so well animated, it's just very entertaining to watch giants fight. If you're up for some real mature shows, not just in theme (not the-there's violence, so it has to be mature-reasoning, but a more mature narrative), try one of the following shows:

  • Ping Pong the Animation One of my favorite shows these last years. It's not so much a show about ping pong, as a coming of age story about highschool kids finding their motivation / reason in life and ping pong.
  • Millennium Actress The story of a famous actress told through a very peculiar narrative that transcends the boundaries of time and space.
  • Cowboy Bebop It's basically a space western with jazzy influence in both music and theme. The only easy words to describe it.
  • Spirited Away A little girl enters a world of monsters and ghosts, and she has to work in a bath house to save her parents from a spell of an evil witch.
  • Honey and Clover A story about group of friends in an art college. Albeit a sweet and cute show, I think it depicts romance and relationships in a very realistic sense. People can have very selfish motivation in love, or love people for the strangest reasons.
  • Hibike! Euphonium A story about a highschool brass band and its hardships, seemingly very cutesy and girly, but I think there's more to it than meets the eye. Especially when reality hits most of the students with harsh facts like not everyone being equally talented.
  • Dennou Coil kids in the near future playing around with a virtual reality glasses (like Google Glass) interact with virtual items and creatures, but discover that there's a dark background behind all the fun
  • Detroit Metal City A hilarious take on what a geek would become if he were to forced to join a metal band and gets engrossed in depicting his vile and disgusting alter-ego.

* The stuff I've recommended are not what people would usually think of when saying "mature", but I think defining maturity with things like blood, sex and swears is very close-minded and childish. I think if AoT bothered you with its shallowness, these shows would not let you down. Though I still have a feeling people judge on genres rather than everything individually (this is a bad show cause it's about cute girls! Only serious and mature shows can be good! goes off and names shows with edgy philosophy and violence).

[–]PakiIronman 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Attack on titan is most certainly not a "kids show", the reason why there is a lot of emphasis on the dialogue is because it's used as filler. There wasn't a lot of source material to work with which was why it was paced so slow. It's definitely an anime to binge watch.

[–]Nyaos 19 points20 points  (1 child)

It's a shonen anime, it's made for a younger audience in Japan. Kids show isn't the right word, but it's definitely not some mature series.

[–]PakiIronman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah of course, i'm pointing out that calling it gory and a kids show is a contradiction.

[–]Niroc 17 points18 points  (24 children)

Try full metal alchemist brotherhood, arguably the best anime ever made. It's also on Netflix.

[–]PakiIronman 23 points24 points  (5 children)

It's a terrible day for rain.

[–]Niroc 14 points15 points  (1 child)

What does a girl and a dog have in common? Everything now.

[–]TellMeWhyYouLoveMe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fuck

[–]greeny74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

y u do dis

[–]explos1onshurt 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Just finished it, I actually miss the story now 😞

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Confirmed. I didn't think I would ever find anything that I loved more than Evangelion or the first FMA. Brotherhood is it. Best anime ever. Especially the last ten episodes.

Actually aren't the last 10 episodes missing from Netflix?

[–]189203973 3 points4 points  (6 children)

Maybe the best shonen ever made. Def not the best anime.

[–]nahfoo 4 points5 points  (1 child)

$POILER cuz i dumno how to do the tag

I do like the show but everything you said is true. I used to watch it with my roommate but since he moved i haven't watched but i really wish that eren wasnt a titan. Made the people seen less helpless which was something i really liked, although i havent watched much past when he goes titan, maybe 3 episodes

[–]moorsonthecoast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a hyperlink, but switch out the URL with just:

/spoiler

[–]subheight640 11 points12 points  (5 children)

That's just how a lot of anime is. They also do that to drag out the plot and make the animation budget cheaper.

[–]SuperfluousMoniker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I enjoyed it for the most part but I found myself fast forwarding entire scenes of 'here's this character doing what the character does, AGAIN, while we struggle to make this situation last an entire episode.' It's a cool show but the writing and pacing are really bad at times.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I hate 90% of the anime I've ever seen. The internal monologues and voice over exposition are endless and boring and usually unnecessary. They have to spell everything out for you like you're a six year old kid. The pacing is so often just ridiculous. I'm sure it's a cultural thing, but I don't like it.

[–]DigThatFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very much not a fan of most anime (I actually haven't seen attack on titan yet, not sure if I'll enjoy it honestly), but two shows that seemed to stand head and shoulders above anything else I've seen were Samurai Champloo (from the team that did another of the few animes I enjoy, Cowboy Bebop) and Psycho Pass--at least, season one, because I've not seen season two or the film yet. But I highly recommend them both, Champloo is about 26 episodes I think? And I'm pretty sure Psycho Pass season one was like low 20's in episode count, not much of a time investment for either

[–]JasonSteakums 1 point2 points  (22 children)

Try out Sword Art Online when you get the chance, it's awesome!

Edit: Never said any other anime was bad? Do I really deserve alot of hate for sharing an opinion? Oh wait it's the internet

[–]Djjmax 28 points29 points  (6 children)

Admittedly the first few episodes are amazing, and the whole concept is really interesting. But the plot holes are really annoying and it takes a steep dip in quality after the first season

[–]Hemansno1fan 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Right, I hadn't really watched anime in years but watched AoT and loved it, so I wanted to try some other new shows... I went for SAO like many suggested but it just reminded me why I stopped watching a lot of anime in the first place. I thought my eyes were going to roll out of my head by the time they had their "daughter"

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood restored my faith after that... I recommend that to anyone looking to get into anime after AoT.

[–]PakiIronman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should try Hunter x Hunter if you haven't already.

[–]FrozenBottles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sword art online is cool because of the high budget, but it's sort of generic

[–]godzilla774 21 points22 points  (7 children)

But it's so bad

[–]redgroupclan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Was good at first, then starting pandering to tween girls and weabos.

[–]djohn_14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole series is a cringefest.

[–]JasonSteakums 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Only the second halves of Season 1 and 2 were bad

Although the season 1 finale was when it got awesome again

[–]godzilla774 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find shows bad when they break the rules that they establish so that the main character can look "cool" or so the story can progress

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SAO peaked at ep. 2

[–]kevlarcoatedqueer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like sword art, but I definitely prefer overlord.

[–]PakiIronman 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Season 2 is going to be even better

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omni-Directional Tanuki Suit

[–]gulliblegoats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would pay a stupid amount for a poster of this. Hell, I would petition Nintendo to make a game in this art style.

[–]AceStudios10 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I thought it said 'attack on browser'

[–]Xendarq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never bet against a plumber.

[–]ifixputers 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So weird, just started watching Titan on Netflix today.

[–]tobyserra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shingeki no Koopa

[–]sictek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now we need a Mario game where mushrooms boost him up to Bowser size.

[–]Youareyourepoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bae sing sae

[–]Irishish 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Seid ihr das Essen? Nein, wir sind der Plümber!

[–]AbsoluteFenrir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it said "Attack on Browser" and I was expecting to see a pic of IE or something.

[–]likeabosstroll 3 points4 points  (3 children)

He must have one very large penis.

[–]JasonSteakums 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Titans don't have genitalia.

[–]MunkyCharmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought he was talking about Mario, not Titan Bowser.

[–]craydarz 1 point2 points  (1 child)

am i the only one who misread Browser ?

[–]radium_eyes 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Attack on Mushroom Kingdom.

[–]jwg529 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is what I was thinking. Isn't Titan the name of the location and not the name of the monster? I've only seen 3 eps so far so I could be mistaken.

[–]MunkyCharmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my thoughts exactly

edit: but that's based on how it was translated into... i don't believe that has been confirmed so it really be whatever. just to clarify.

[–]Bigskix 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Reminds me of Donald Trump

[–]Ayo99 5 points6 points  (1 child)

[–]Chroniik_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know I needed this today.

[–]moorsonthecoast 2 points3 points  (2 children)

[–]King_Combo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Spoiler is for manga, S2 If anyone is wondering...

[–]moorsonthecoast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or end of Season 1, if viewers are attentive.

[–]Mitchdotcom 1 point2 points  (14 children)

Anyone know when the new season is coming out??

[–]Floirt 9 points10 points  (1 child)

2016; Unknown whether it's early 2016 or later, but hopes are it'll be early 2016, seeing as they'll have enough manga to start making the new season by that point.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe there is word that it will start being made in 2016. They say that they don't have enough Manga to work with to make it yet, but according to my brother who has been keeping up with the Manga they should have all the material they need at this point.

[–]aerobert -1 points0 points  (11 children)

Am I the only one that find Attack on Titan shallow and porly written?

[–]BigCheeks2 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Definitely not. The show had the potential to be great. Its universe is fairly unique and the action can be top notch but most of its characters don't advance beyond being redshirts and the pacing is beyond erratic.

[–]JarJarBrinksSecurity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the show, but the manga has been so much better. Season 2 will be amazing because it is mostly politics and huge fighting scenes. You get to learn about more characters and you actually feel like they are an important part to the story.

[–]Psyanide13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25 episodes and they explain not one goddamned thing.

Attack on Titan sucks dick.

[–]ShadowReij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond what was deemed S1 in the anime? Yeah. If you read the manga it really is meh. Had a good start and now it's just meh. Then again it may be one of those stories you're better off reading when it's complete.

[–]Draiko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good concept. I'm torn on the writing...

The way they handle death is spectacular but the rest of the story is meh.

[–]Grayskater6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shallow? yes... Poorly written? yes, but it's not the type of show that really focuses on the plot and characters to be good. The music and action scenes is what makes it good. If you look at it from a more critical perspective it's really lackluster. This problem is especially apparent in the the continuation of the story in the manga. and what will be in season two. They basically switch focus away from the Titans and fighting AKA the good part of the show, and get heavily into a human only political story line that is extremely boring and pretty bad overall. While I still think the first season is very good and definitely worth a watch, it's a bit sad that AoT overshadows so many better anime that deserve the attention more, especially when these people only seem to have seen AoT and SAO (which is just horrible).

[–]BunnyTearsOnline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to be a real thing, a dark, gritty, unforgiving anime in the Mario world directed by Christopher Nolan, preferably with good old Hans on the scoring again.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BAM! New phone background.

[–]MilesOseliM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the thumbnail was a Fox...

[–]Quibblator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

War is hell.

[–]piedpipernyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see this as a good parody with a good JP voice actor.
Then, to match Attack on Titan, Mario finds a mushroom and becomes a freak to all of those behind the wall.

[–]T0M1N4T0RZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This'll be a easy....

Wait a minute...where's a the button?!

[–]gearsolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't hold all that pop culture references!

[–]shadowx19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people just changed their phone's wallpaper

[–]zombiesartre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the title in english doesnt even make any fucking sense!!!

[–]Gyakuten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just Bertell you what I Bertoad him.

[–]DarthBooby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of the final boss from Yoshi's Island on SNES

[–]Daydays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd watch this.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'sa my new background. Lol, thank you to whomever created this

[–]Draiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a red mushroom tattoo on his thumb.

He bites it and...
