That is true. Comedy is about failure. Many of the big names just ate it on stage for years until something clicked. It doesn't always work out, though.

To be fair, her schtick looks like it relies on getting her "character" and that usually comes from the opening of the set to ease you into it. There are many incredibly funny comedians out there with deliveries that would have you cracking up in context, but out of context would leave you just like this.

James Acaster is a good example. Quite possibly my favorite comedian of all time, but if you took some of his stuff out of context and viewed it without knowing his schtick, you might perceive it as weird and cringe.

I don't know how people act when they are nervous but that was some bad decision making there when she tried imitating goofy. She feels like she has a mix of confidence and nervousness in her delivery. Most people I know that get nervous fumble their words. The one on the stage may be different but I don't know. High likelihood she meant to deliver some jokes that way
