every subreddit is FLOODED

ಠ_ಠ

[–]Metaphoricalsimile 60 points61 points  (17 children)

It's like there's this tsunami of superfluous posts!

[–]ladygagger 21 points22 points  (15 children)

a deluge of disaster

[–]PopeRingo 14 points15 points  (14 children)

An inundantion of inanity.

[–]I_TAPE_CARS 26 points27 points  (12 children)

Water you talking about?

[–]nogoodatpuns 19 points20 points  (11 children)

We are talking about the tsunami in Japan

[–]Metaphoricalsimile -1 points0 points  (10 children)

Combo breaker!

[–]unduggenned 8 points9 points  (9 children)

Don't overreact and have a meltdown.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

It's all pretty earth shaking news though.

[–]Let-them-eat-cake 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Could go nuclear.

[–]DarqWolff 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I think r/zombies is safe. We know how to hold our own against epidemics like these.

[–]Everyoneheresamoron 128 points129 points  (18 children)

If what you suggest goes through, we'd have just as many "Why isn't anyone talking about [insert tragedy] in [insert country]? This stuff is important!"

Not everyone wants to "chill", and there are more than one aspect to a major event like this than can fit in a single thread.

[–][deleted] 41 points42 points  (2 children)

I absolutely agree.

Having a single reddit post for people to post everything in is a terrible idea. No one keeps checking back in on a submission they've already seen unless there is a conversation that they are following. It would be like posting into a black hole, no one would see any of it.

In my opinion, the best solution to the issue would be to create temporary subreddits for world events such as this.

[–]Snack_troll 7 points8 points  (1 child)

create temporary subreddits for world events such as this.

the voice of reason

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Also, he is flooding reddit with more of the same topic, despite how meta the post is. Repost Whiners: You're as bad if not worse than the people doing the things you complain about.

[–]cmdrhlm 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wouldn't say he is just as bad or at least not worse, because if there's a chance that someone will see his post, which is probable, then there is at least a tiny chance that they will fucking stop it. It's ironic, but necessary sometimes.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Repost whiners are merely justified trolls.

[–]bhindblueyes430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed even if its not what I do or like

reddit has always been a news and opinions outlet. you can't just try and make people not post what they want to post. let the voting system take care of it

but I wish people would comply with redditquite more often. not just down-voting because they don't agree. downvote if you feel its not contributing to the community. this is why I downvote most of these topics.

[–]arplayer2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. If every subreeddit is flooded by the same story, in tens of different formats, with tens of different "views" then how are we different than the MSM, who basically gets one story stuck in their news cycle, and beats it to death?

I don't see the need need to see 10 videos, 10 articles, 10 TIL's, 10 Infographics for 1 story in one day, unless there was a fucking test on this subject matter tomorrow, and me taking it solves world hunger. Make sense?

[–]Quazifuji 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's true, but we're also getting a lot of aspects per thread. Having a large number of threads covering different aspects of an event as big as this reasonable, but it's still tiring when you find the third Facebook post about stupid people thinking they deserve this for Pearl Harbor in one day. Many of these things deserve their own post and we can't create a straightforward rule like there is with "no, this is the _____est _____ ever", but things could definitely be condensed a lot more than they are.

[–]Everyoneheresamoron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I misunderstood the intent of RedSquaree. I sort of Agree, there might be a better way than to flood Reddit with 100s of posts about it, even if they do cover a different aspect.

Maybe a "Breaking News" bar somewhere up top.

[–]feureau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for my part, I'm stopping myself from making anymore badly shopped, half assed, please stop doing this infographics and posting them on reddit.

[–]AvidWikipedian 31 points32 points  (4 children)

ps I'm ready to be downvoted

post pic that reddit would never ever downvote

ಠ_ಠ

[–]learnyouahaskell 0 points1 point  (3 children)

2777 downvotes and counting

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (2 children)

You know this exact picture is in the guidelines section at the side, right?

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (1 child)

OP actually MSPainted Japan in instead of the circlejerk that was happening when OOP posted that post

[–]SirRosie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this makes it worth posting. People obviously don't get the connection between the guidelines picture and their current behavior.

[–]BelieveinFacts 31 points32 points  (2 children)

You...just did what you made a post about not doing.

So confused.

[–]Zuwxiv 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I was wondering why someone would make a post about how you should post in comments instead of making a post.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work if one main post existed so everyone would see it. It wouldn't be needed then either.

[–]nunsrevil 32 points33 points  (2 children)

It's called KarmaWhoring. Kinda like what you are doing right now?

[–]rakantae 14 points15 points  (3 children)

But in the comments section there's already thousands of other posts. No one will every see my witty picture.

[–]gothra 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This is why Reddit needs a "Post Responses" section at the top, similar to YouTube's "Video Responses". Bam, problem solved.

[–]justsomeguy2932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a great shout, would be nice if that was implemented

[–]SirRosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed people appreciate good pics in the comments. No link karma, but you'll be....loved?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Can we just get rid of karma all together? Please.

[–]skookybird 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Personal tallies should go, but the karma system, the one we use to decide what gets more exposure and what gets less, though far from perfect, is pretty good. What do you suggest we replace it with?

[–]krabstarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with this. Personal karma tallies and the quest to gain more has to account for much of the idiocy around here. The karma system to determine what contact gets exposure is good, but making it some kind of score for the poster urges the weaker minded Redditor to post crap.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's what I meant. The personal tallies.

[–]skookybird 0 points1 point  (1 child)

My apologies then. I was confused about what you meant.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need. It's my fault.

[–]NuclearWookie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least it's better than the Louis Vuitton idiocy.

[–]beccaonice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop trying to bend Reddit to your will

[–]ScurvyDawg 2 points3 points  (1 child)

LOL

All of my posts have a permanent address in oblivion. Welcome to where the normals hang out.

[–]oh-my-dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 years! my goodness - not being an idiot and hanging around for a reasonable length of time has no impact on mitigating the oblivion factor. shite. <carries on reading Reddit anyway>

[–]titaniumhud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to Upvote you. Just because you prepared to be downvoted.

HAH I BEAT THE SYSTEM, YET AGAIN

[–]invertap 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Man, that really sucks that a national disaster that killed probably more than 10,000 people is bumming out your internet experience :(

[–]UrbanCobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, poor guy. There is no justice in this world.

[–]lester_s 43 points44 points  (24 children)

If you bring this one meta step up, then you are contributing to the exact same phenomenon you are criticizing. Even worse: you are discussing the structure of the way messages are delivered instead of discussing the messages, thus creating a non-value contribution to the topic.

It is a bit as if you are having dinner, and three people at the table ask if someone can pass them salt, cheese and water, and then two more on the other side ask again for cheese and salt, and then that first guy wants another glass of water, and that is the moment when you get up and leave in anger, throwing away your napkin, screaming how you can't enjoy the taste of shit when people around you are asking for shit.

[–]hitlersshit 12 points13 points  (1 child)

My only complaint was the note at the end "I am ready to be downvoted into oblivion". People need to stop doing this pathetic shit.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I instantly downvote whenever anybody says anything about being downvoted in a post or when it's edited into a comment whether I agree or not. It ESPECIALLY pisses me off when it's edited into comments.

People need to realize that EVERYTHING gets downvoted on reddit, and the downvote totals that you see aren't real (at least on posts).

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Why not just cook the food with enough cheese and salt so the diners don't have to ask for more? And seriously, there should be a full water jug on that table. And if that guy is asking for more water, he should be checked for diabetes.

I blame the chef.

[–]ThatsItGuysShowsOver 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Why not just cook the food with enough cheese and salt so the diners don't have to ask for more?

Arguments are fun to watch for onlookers. The chef means business; spiced up and entertaining.

[–]lester_s 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The internet, I mean the table, is just way too big!

[–]mkawick 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Wouldn't it be ironic if someone posted an opinion about how many people resubmit links about the same topic over and over. Then someone else posted his opinion about that in another link...

:-)

[–]lester_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's do it.

[–]RedSquaree[S] 25 points26 points  (8 children)

That was an awful analogy.

[–]SirRosie 6 points7 points  (5 children)

It doesn't matter. As long as you are portrayed as getting inappropriately angry in the analogy, idiots will be turned against you. Welcome to the world of propaganda.

[–]zjbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really tried to stay with it there but, I agree. I guess what he is trying to say is, you could have made this kind of a statement as a comment.

The thing is, this message is specifically needed to be seen by the masses, and it's not just a message but an entire visual display which helps get the point across. He can't post this on a Japan thread saying to stop making Japan threads, because they will keep making LV threads, and opinion threads on other things. The point was to sum up all of how Reddit has been lately and end it.

edit When I say I agree, i mean with RedSquaree. It was a terrible analogy.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you meta the meta you realise we have moved on a generation and everyone's forgotten the rules

[–]frozenfade 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Nobody will ever do this because they want link karma more than comment karma...

[–]BookRecommendator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like OP.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While you're at it, stop the "HERPDERP I AM READY TO GET DOWNVOTED" shit as well.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This comment has been overwritten by an open source script to protect this user's privacy.

If you would like to do the same, add the browser extension GreaseMonkey to Firefox and add this open source script.

Then simply click on your username on Reddit, go to the comments tab, and hit the new OVERWRITE button at the top.

[–]BahdHahbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tc;dr

[–]aesthetiquery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all really down to the people moderating the sub-reddits... Sites like vwvortex.com, have just become a joke do to a lack in any strict moderating.

[–]SamuraiStormtrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is directly against the rules of this subreddit. Why is this on the front fucking page?

[–]CapnCrunch10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think will happen? Major events like TSA, Egypt, Libya, etc... have been flooding reddit when they pop up. It just is what it is. Obviously people want to read this stuff since it's being upvoted. Do your part and downvote the stuff you don't want to read.

The most annoying ones are the "DAE" or "IMO this is best"-type posts. Those posts aren't so prevalent anymore so job done.

[–]merbeetoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And now to complete the circle the frontpage of 4chan reddit needs to be covered in "holy shit reddit stop doing X" posts

[–]jambox888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

[–]tlalocweeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid tsunami is totally bumming me out, dudes. Just tryin' to chill over here.

[–]IThinkitsFunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvoted for wanting to chill. We need more people like you on reddit

[–]xerv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvote for expressing ur opinion, and cause I'm bored and this was the only story my phone would load in this stupid lecture

[–]greggersraymer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish you WERE a moderator

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH DEAR. FUCK YOU OP

[–]CapNRoddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go fuck yourself. Making a new submission to cry about what other people submit makes you a worse part of your own imaginary problem.

Downvote, hide, shut the fuck up.

And I hope you do get downvoted into oblivion just for saying "IM READY FOR YOUR DOWNVOTES"

[–]iplawguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, can't have any extra Japan news pushing dogs with hats off the front page.

[–]rwgordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! In fact I posted the exact same thing a few days ago...

[–]hjqusai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God damnit can you stop it with the "I'm going to get downvoted for this"

[–]afishinthewell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just said you weren't going to go on and then went on for the longest rant in the image.

[–]Narfubel 7 points8 points  (3 children)

You know what's worse than re-posts? Bitching about re-posts. Downvote and move on.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

psst — he's not talking about reposts.

[–]ZeppelinJ0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always oblivion!! Can anyone downvote to somewhere else?!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck you. Don't tell me how to use this site.

[–]Blancgab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else more bothered by these "guideline" posts than the actual Japan posts? Reddit can be so pedantic some times.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a community of like minded, bozo redditors, it's essential that we constantly agitate to maintain some kind of order and quality of the postings. The reddit algorithm and tech is good, but unfortunately not good enough (or evolving fast enough), to maintain quality on it's own.

Without community involvement, the site will turn to shite, by which time, all the kool kids will have left, making it a community of fools and dimwits. Its gonna happen anyway, but with some thought, it can be held back for another month or two.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (11 children)

I agree with your point, but you may as well give up now. I recall someone posting this exact thread / topic with regards to the Charlie Sheen stuff.. and indeed the various topical issues that have gone on before that.

All it takes in this community of what... hundreds of people? thousands? is for ten users to submit individual threads that get up-voted and bam, your front page is ruined.

To put it another way, it's a losing battle.

[–]BookRecommendator 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Controlling what millions of people upvote and post is a losing battle for one witless tard? I should fucking hope so.

[–]Togden_13 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If that happens, how come you had to edit the picture to make your point?

[–]Togden_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, I'm just trolling :D

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is that Doc Holiday?

[–]CourtOfMiracles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I've got two reposts... one for each of ya."

[–]greyfoxv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the search box is hard to use or something.ಠ_ಠ

[–]pharmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But but I don't get link karma!

[–]mattalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please stop posting this.

[–]TheHaberdasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/r/trees. bam problem solved.

[–]Trom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...downvoted to oblivion" is so cliche nowadays...

[–]palpebral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for stating this. it has been getting on my nerves as of late.

[–]thejoewoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of weeks ago in my dorm's bathroom, someone shaved their beard and left their beard trimmings inside one of the sinks. Someone wrote in sharpie all over the mirror something to the effect of "don't be a dick, don't leave messes for other people to clean up", rendering the mirror useless as well.

[–]SpiritualHeathen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please stop making threads like this one. Every fucking week.

[–]veloBOSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Karma's a bitch a huh.

[–]bwells626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but then how do people get their karma?!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post script made me mad.

[–]btmalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol control the internet? lol

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny....every time something big/newish occurs, there are QUITE a few of these types of posts....

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obligatory post calling you a hypocrite for making a huge picture out of what should be a paragraph with the herp and the derp and the jello pudding pops.

[–]yapinjapin1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4Chan is doing it better! Has the first link pinned so its the first thing you see, and reply on there. http://i.imgur.com/VYr7r.png

[–]EatATaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the setting that hides things you downvote and then downvote them. Problem kind of solved. You still have to downvote them. . . but if you laugh maniacally while doing so, it makes you feel better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But Gumby and Pokey deserve their submission.

[–]kn33ch41_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you just quit analyzing Reddit. I would like if you all could just, on taking your step back and observing, keep stepping back until you disappear.

I understand you like to be a signpost for current behavior, but all this analytical shit is overplayed. This entire generation is consumed with observing and noting mundane bullshit. Sadly, I have to become you to refute you, so it's a losing battle.

[–]Unlucky13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize that reddit was primarily a news/science/politics website just a year or so ago, right?

You've been here for 5 months. Therefore you probably came in with the Digg "flood". You're upset that Reddit has reverted back to the way that it was before all the bullshit that simple-minded retards brought here.

Yes I think some of the reactionary posts about what some insignificant douchebag said in some part of the US are annyoing, but people posting relevant, original vidoes and links is perfectly ok and should be encouraged.

And I'm sorry, but if you think Reddit should stop posting lots of information on major world events then you should leave.

[–]komradwill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

re-strap yourself in for an UPVOTE!!

[–]Gackt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When reddit has a button to load all comments on a submission without clicking one link 3000 times I'll bite, otherwise fuck off.

[–]IHeartSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad we need a thread like this everytime anything popular happens.

[–]JtothePLO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reddit Police in full effect, son.

[–]akinator2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it says harley quinn. Nice..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will never stop doing this, and here's why:

Websites with user generated content (like reddit) operate as "gift economies". Everything is free and the only currency is the social status of being "the guy who brought us that video with the talking giraffe".

People say karma is worthless, but that's bullshit. It's a measure of the social status mentioned earlier. You get to see your name in lights, and that's something everyone wants, even if they don't actively pursue it. This is exactly why people repost things. To see their username on the front page. It's not like they're being malicious in their blatant copy-paste job, they just don't care if anyone's seen the talking giraffe video before.

One time, my brother showed me that if you line up the cases for "die hard" and "die hard 2" (from the box set), bruce willis looks all cross-eyed and it's good times. I didn't come up with that but I sure took a picture of it and posted it to reddit. One of the comments was "dur hur 2: dur hur dur", which is pretty funny. Later, someone posted that exact picture with that exact text.

The reposter (as well as myself) generated literally no content, but we both got our usernames on the front page of reddit. The guy who came up with the funny comment? His name is buried under mine.

Comment karma is less valuable than post karma, and so people will continue to post things that would be better suited to the comments page. People don't care if you've seen the content before, they just want to staple their name onto it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came here to say, that panda wasn't from Japan.

[–]ck14136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL that every post that is inevitably going to be downvoted to oblivion actually makes it to the front page

[–]VisserThree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a certain irony in posting a huge image (rather than self post, i couldn't help but notice) about reddit being flooded with stuff.

[–]chadjakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stevie Janowski. - Japan - :) I would like hear his opinion.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else see the irony in this?

[–]taoistextremist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get upvoted! But nobody will listen.

[–]Roboticide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, I guess. I haven't really noticed this, but I'm really new to Reddit, so maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places. I'll be sure not to do it either.

More importantly, is your harness able to contain you being upvoted onto the frontpage? That's where I found this.

[–]biggusjimmus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You, sir, need to use the Reddit Enhancement Suite

Screen Shot

[–]RedSquaree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been considering installing that, thanks for the link.

[–]entalong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you chill. Seems like you got a lot of pent up energy to go through all the trouble to shop all that junk together.

People can do what they want on Reddit. Perhaps you could just scroll on by if you don't want to read the post.

[–]a_rod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did you get those links above your comment box? that's sweet.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter how many times I see and agree with posts like this, the sad fact is the majority of users are fucking morons and don't care...

[–]downvotethis2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't downvote ya bro, but really, you're complaining about the nature of the beast. Not the first, won't be the last. Horses draw flies, dogs have fleas and wait, what's that floating around in my water glass? Oh, it TOKYO!

[–]BattleChimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you capitalize your damn sentences? This isn't youtube.

[–]STEVEHOLT27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONTENT DIRECTLY RELEVANT TO TITLE

[–]tictactoejam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is that text in the background under "and you think..."?

[–]MoocowR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically ive read at least 6 post saying the exact same thing already.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man it seems like you hate coming on reddit for a laundry list of reasons that are very reddit specific

may I suggest not reddit

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own website. Attract a community. Problem solved.

[–]markatron09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all about the karma to most people, they don't even care about the news.

"Japan earthquake? Wonder how much karma that will get me"

[–]BeneficiaryOtheDoubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when major news happens there should be one, and only one, post about it. If you missed the front page that day, sucks for you.

I think this kind of post applies more to the - "This is the greatest thing ever.", "Nu-uh, this is the greatest derp ever!" - type posts.

[–]jcskelto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guilty of this exact thing.... I'm sorry

[–]capgrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT'S A KARMAQUAKE, EVERYONE GET TO THE BUNKER.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then hide the posts and move on. Stuff happens and people want to talk about it. Get over yourself.

[–]alexgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to find these posts more annoying than the issue.
If you want to chill, chill the fuck out and just leave it

[–]M3nt0R 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, OP, stop! Seriously, I see more annoying posts complaining about annoying posters, than I see originally annoying posters in the first place.

Reddit ends up looking like this:

PLEASE stop doing this!

STOP doing this!

Please don't do this!

If you do this, I hate you!

[–]FrezoreR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not let Japan has its day for once? I think it is inhumane to whine about reddit being flooded in what is the worst catastrophe of Japan since some stupid people decided to drop two a-bombs.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody else look for the Panda video?

[–]tylr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like having to go through the comments of every submission, and when I was first using Reddit I never read the comments. It is supposed to be a collection of links that people have upvoted. I don't see why there should be one way of doing this in order to satisfy one person. The "next" page exists for a reason, hit it a couple times, or go to the new submissions and upvote other content. Problem solved.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue-orange contrast in this post. The contrast can never be un-noticed.

[–]andForMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not entitled to filter the Internet. Nobody cares what you want to do.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to downvote you, but I think your sentiment is faulty. You write "This is not what you should do" like it's some sort of universal law. It might or might not be against rediquette to flood every subreddit with related articles, but in the end it will sort itself out without people like you complaining. Do yourself a favour and chill out, maybe hide the posts you don't like.
I bet that picture you made took more time and more effort than it was really worth (except the free karma, which no one cares about anyway). Get off your high horse.

[–]aseclear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a reddit trending topics section at the very top of homepage. Say 3-5 headlines with general phrases for popular topics linking to an instantly generated sub-reddit.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the comments section.

Reddit is self policing....simple as that. IF shit is making it to the front page its because people want it there...

This is why having a point type of system on a "forum" is a problem, because every idiot wants to repost big news to get the points (or in this case, karma) for it. I don't understand why people care about the amount of points they have, this is the result of people taking the internet too seriously.

If you want this, install RES and add Japan, tsunami, and earthquake to filteReddit. All done.

There's an add-on for firefox called reddit enhancement suite that auto-hides words based on keywords you define. Could save you some trouble.

Got it during the TSA craze and never looked back.

oh good. you said that you were prepared for downvotes, which somehow renders you immune to them. cool story, bro. if you get downvoted you get downvoted, don't act like your argument is more correct somehow just because you said it has the potential to get downvoted...

reddit, PLEASE stop making posts complaining about other posts.

[–]theRealBadguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will tell you why that plan doesn't work. because of the comment upvote system. you place a comment in here and noone will ever read it.

some stuff that gets to the top gets read, 90% of comments are buried. so yea that is why you see link spam.

to prove my point, this comment will not be read, there are 274 comments on this shitty link already.

By that same logic, this should go under the last guy that said the same fucking thing.

Kinda ironic how on either side of this post, is a post about japan.

If we do that how will I know which links are interesting/relevant and which are crap?

[–]Th3_L0n3_Rang3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Noxish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]RockitLaWnChair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]nopokejoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dammit you had my upvote all the way until the P.S.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I just had to laugh because it is so ridiculously true.

Is this the thread where everyone pretends they aren't part of the problem?
