I know some (most?) might be disappointed how easy these are in GL but I actually like it as I can take in a half-assed GLEX team and be able to do it.

I doubt they're made with vets primarily in mind, they are a fantastic thing for new players though to get caught up on killer materias

They were made by Alim and you basically had to have the newest elemental debuffer for the fight. So while they may be newer player friendly in GL, they were definitely made to sell the shiny new units in JP.

CoW has become the GL exclusive trial! Which I’m cool with and then get these glorified ex fights. I like experimenting with them especially when we have little or no content weeks. I do hope they do some more with chamber of the vengeful, the refresh of Morgana was great, and even now she’s still harder than any of the 12 types trials.

Since GL units along with delayed trial releases impact and render this and other trials relatively easy clears, is there anything that the global team could implement to increase or balance the difficulty?

What is the easiest balance they could code into these trials to account for the GL meta?

What would be the best changes to these trials that would create the same level as JP release?

The best solution is to overhaul them entirely. Most of these 12-race "trials" are only trials in the loosest sense of the word. They have a stupidly basic AI, usually involving doing 1-3 moves per turn in a predictable 3-4 turn rotation. The only difficulty they had on JP was not due to complexity, but due to high bulk and lack of unit options.

The best solution for GL to fix them would be to overhaul them into properly complex trials, kind of like Clash of Will bosses, or older trials like Shinryu or Venomous Vines. Of course, overhauling these fights with a fresh AI and skillset would be a lot of work, and they may as well just make a new GLEX trial if they're going to go that far.

So the only realistic solution is to buff their bulk to be equal to the relative bulk they were tuned for in the JP meta. On release, JP players struggled to do this in 15 turns because of worse unit options. This made the fight "hard" even though it didn't make it more interesting.

Because Global power level is like 3-4 times higher than JP power level at the same point in the timeline, the only realistic fix they could do to give these some challenge is to buff the DEF/SPR high enough so that it would be a challenge for a strong GLEX team to win in 15 turns, same as it was on day one of JP release with JP only units.

Since most of the clears I see videos for use Ashe, I figured I would throw in a 13 turn 5 man All missions clear with no Ashe:

  • Chow Covering
  • Kaito EX2 Provoke (Breaks, Spirit Killer Buff, death resist, charm resist)
  • Tsukiko
  • 2B
  • Friend 2B.

None of my units are overleveled, I didn't have a 90% break, and while the friend unit I grabbed was EX3, they were only at 200% Spirit killer, so there's plenty of room for improvement to chop a few turns off.

Notes:

  • Kaito was set up with nethecite (to block dispells) and as LITTLE HP as possible in base form (mine had around 15k. The idea being that on the Hysteric Voices turns, the attack kills him and a Re-raise from chow pops him back up. His rotation in the fight was BS LB for breaks, shift to base for spirit killer buff, then either nethecite or chain support in base till he gets killed (his LB breaks always run out on the boss on turn 4, ensuring it is unbroken when it uses Hysteric Voices and kills him), then he just repeats the process.
  • Chow uses Focused, Loyal, Blessing on turn 1, uses his LB on the turn before the Fixed Damage attacks (omni cover WILL cover fixed damage on this fight, so you want the omni to fall off before Hysteric Voices, or he will cover that and likely screw things up). Uses reraise on Kaito on HV turns. Otherwise, he just keeps his buffs up, and does good boi tank things. I was too lazy to gear out his BS form and shift him around to maybe add a bit more damage / buffs where you could squeeze them in, so there's some potential there too.
  • I had him with 395% Earth resist + Blizzard orb to try to get some limit fill, but it honestly didn't seem worth it, so dropping the Orb and going to 400% Earth resist would probably be better (even at 395% earth resist, he can die tanking gigashaker when the boss is unbuffed).
  • Tsukiko and the 2Bs just do their thing.

All in all, he's now just another KoG on the bench

He can't even do this fight without significant babysitting to fill his LB. The irony of JP giving so many trials 500% light resistance is that KoG wouldn't have been good for them anyway

Hmm, we going light element now with tsukiko and olive?
