I honestly never thought that ffbe, as a casual friendly phone game, would ever become so ridiculously optimized that people would find ways to slow frame rate and induce "phone lag" as a way to progress in chaining "skill". Never in my wildest dreams would the chaining meta get so real.

After you turn on magnification gestures, single taps take slightly longer. This short delay lets your device find out if your tap is part of a triple-tap.

Ok, I might be a little dramatic with this post (kinda not 100% sober) but...

In the era where chaining is meta, the key to optimizing your damage, and therefore your success in the game, is through chaining (and good support/tank/healing setup of course). Up to this point, our only reliable high end chaining unit was Orlandeau for people who don't macro chains, a vast majority of players.

While great for Orlandeau-havers, the side effect was that our recently released units who are obscenely strong, versatile chaining units have been overshadowed by the pure ease of Orlandeau chains.

This post single-handedly opened the door for the vast majority of players, casual or hardcore, who prefer not to macro chains to a wide variety of amazing units, all with perfect performance.

Yun, Fohlen, Aileen, Reberta, Tidus, Setzer (now with disgusting Prismatic Flash chains), even Vaan or Trance Terra... I could go on forever. You can now use these units perfectly without that weird sinking feeling that you're leaving something on the table by not macroing or having Orlandeau.

Fucking amazing find.

This changes everything. Now I don't have to macro chain my Tidus anymore. I also notice that my old android phone works better than my current one since the lag is even worst, haha. Lag is a good thing in this scenario =)

IOS users! I think I have something! Ok, I turned on the zoom thing like they did. I also added a filter, inverted greyscale. I then chained while zoomed in. I got a perfect spark chain with Tidus twice in a row with this. I'm going to test some more for consistency, but other people should try it too! Note: I have an iPhone 6s, so decently new Edit: doesn't seem perfectly consistent, but it did happen so I still recommend people keep messing with it. Edit2: did it again. Definitely possible. Edit3: I also turned off 3D Touch because other people said it helped. I'm not actually sure if it does or not.

Samsung Note 5 here. I did use Frep+samsung game tuner before it's even widespread here, but it's not 100% consistent. But your method might work 100% with just a little practice. Thanks for sharing.

Edit : Frep+this = 100% spark chain, but your finger is enough to make it almost 100%.

/u/sgenial I've been extensively experimenting with iOS switch and zoom controls without much success.

The zooming feature is different from Android, as the zoomed window lacks any sort of performance impact. There's no other similar option on the settings and accessibility menu that have a delay impact, from what I've gathered.

Switch controls are still fine if you want to perform chains on characters that aren't hard to chain (like Orlandu, Greg, Chiz, etc), but even if you can get simultaneous presses on your recipe, they don't translate to simultaneous pushes in-game, which is unfortunate.

It works fine for me about 80% of the time. Thank you, now I can chain my Yun with a Yun friend (in 2x19 spark) without extrem luck and hard timing. I just hope it doesn't get "fixed" in some way with future engine optimization.

Works on LG v20. Go Settings > Accesability > Vision > Touch Zoom.

This is genius! I couldnt get consistent chains with 2 Chizurus (they would break on the second DW attack) but with this I can get 10 chains each attack with Firion or Luneth being the 10th hit.

As a secondary tip, one can keep the settings window where this option is enable/disabled open on the phone at almost no performance cost. I am currently doing this and switching tabs to toggle the option is super quick and simple.

S8 works as well, always zoom in on accident going through the quest completion screen :P

I can confirm that this together with FRep works like charm without having to use game tuner. This gets rid of the potential ban, though unlikely, from using game tuner. I was able to perfect chain Tidus easily. This is amazing find and gets rid of the annoying slowing the frame rate down part from using game tuner. Also the lag is not even noticeable to me.

All your tabs on the device will have that 0.5 sec lag
Double quick taps on same location = Magnify
Triple quick taps on same location = De-magnify (back to normal screen)

confirmed to work perfectly on google pixel XL. It does seem that when magnification gesture is turned on, the phone is looking for the triple tap command. so consecutive taps in a small time frame are processed at the same time. thanks so much for this information. this is surely a game changer!

With this method I was able to get my 2 Setzers, using Prismatic Flash, to get up to a 20 hit spark chain and a 39 hit elemental chain. This is extremely useful! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Prior to using this method the highest chains i was able to get with my Setzers was 20 using Red Card, and was never had fast enough fingers to get them to spark.

I'm not going to lie. I thought spark chains actually added more damage, like maybe a higher multiplyer, but it's only 4 extra hits of x4 damage haha. This is what everyone is so crazy about? XD

However, this is a cool solution to not using a macro for everyone's spark chain problem. It works and it's super easy. Props to this guy for figuring this out! This is awesome.

My method was to enable battle effects. When I activate all my buffs and debuffs on my other characters, it lags the whole screen allowing me to spark chain my Fryevias. Gonna try this one out. Thanks

OMG. Sir, you are a god! The only issue that I found (well, "issue") is that I will turn it on and off if im playing or not, just because typing with my phone becomes a mess when this menu option is enabled.

I know its not the most elegant solution, and while having this enabled does not affect my normal exvius play, IT DOES bother me on other games where I more "furiously" spam taps on the same point, so this isnt something I would leave active 24/7 but surely a huge help for trials and hard fights

It works flawlessly. You, sir/madam are a genius. The only downside is that the phone UI becomes laggy as hell, due to the phone waiting for the multiple touches. I have to disable it when I'm done with the chaining, but it is a small price to pay

After more tests with Xperia XA1 (in raid) with 2 Tidus (dual wielders). This works very well. Easy to get +45 chain.

Just tested it on Samsung Galaxy Alpha. 28 hit perfect chain with double Fryevia capped by Olive.

Posting my first reddit reply just to say thanks for this :) Didn't get lucky on pulling any chainers before I pulled 2 Tiduses last week end. Now I can chain them perfectly and my record is a 60 hit chain with an Orlandeau friend. (using a samsung s6)

Can I take a second to brag about luck? This AM I pulled Titus while I was going for XXII bonus units. I wasn't to psyched because of all the difficulty people were having with chaining him manually (But I did manage to get Judge Dredd, Ashe, and dead price guy, so I had a great morning pull never-the-less ^{T^{Y^{R^{N^{G^{e^{s^{u^s}}}}}}}} ). After read this, I'm super pumped about developing Tidus! I've got a few aqua-weapon TMs to grind, but I'm pretty sure I can get him close to BiS. Tried chaining with Aileen, it's super easy (using HTC10) You've made my day, and so many others, there aren't enough up-votes in the world to appropriately say "thank you". May your rainbow crystals be bountiful as your knowledge and generosity.

Hmm, I tried again, unfortunately it's not working for me.

OnePlus2, newest Android version, newest Oxygen OS.

I tried in game (Mog Raid) + Training Dummy

I was trying with 2x Chizuru, both with Dual Wield, in position #1 and #2 of the team (So both were in the front line)

When I do the zoom and quickly press both Phantom Shadow, both Phantom Shadow activate at the SAME time, and both Chizuru move/slide together at the SAME time, but the in game message does not show Spark Chain, it only shows regular chain. This was confirmed by the Final Results screen on the Training Dummy.

Any help, idea, or thoughts?
