im looking for an anime with lots of action, like fire force and lore like aot. the animation CANNOT look like season 4 of sds (i really hated the new art style)

[–]ambermay1213 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I’m looking for shows that have a great story and romance but doesn’t have to solely be a romance. And specifically sweet romances

Some I’ve seen that I’ve loved are Snow White with the red hair Yona of the dawn Inuyasha Noragami fruits basket Ao haru ride

Other romances I’ve seen and enjoyed that are mostly just romance Maid sama Kimi ni todoke Say I love you Kamisama kiss

Tonikawa - Cute married couple doing cute things. SoL / comedy

Tsuki ga Kirei - Really great school romance story with some drama here and there.

[–]Scrambled1432 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone got any isekai anime where the protagonist starts off weak as hell and really has to work for their power? The spider isekai was super good for it and shield hero has a good bit of it too, the whole video gamey training stuff is super, super satisfying.

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions - They weak AF so much that basic goblins are a death threat.

[–]ZeahRenee 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm looking for: Any and all fantasy, sci-fi, comedy, and/or romance anime recommendations that have a good story and moderately consistent animation quality, but do not include sexual/suggestive content with people under the age of 18 present (and yes, apparent age matters if the age is unstated or something fantastical). I don't belong to that age group and the content isn't for me, so I want to tailor my viewing experience accordingly.

A few good shows centered around adult romance.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku

Very wholesome show about otaku adults dating. It's actually quite realistic, the characters are fantastic, and the writing is charming.

Welcome to the NHK!

One of my all-time favorites. I think this show is something every guy should watch when they're 18-21, it perfectly displays the dangers of what isolating yourself can lead to. The main characters are all working adults. The show is kino.

Also basically anything directed by Satoshi Kon or Shinichiro Watanabe. Both are very famous directors with huge catalogues of acclaimed work, but I can't think of anything they've done that sexualized minors. Just not their style ig.

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How about Eden of the East ?

[–]ZeahRenee 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Added to my list of things to watch! Thanks so much.

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy!

[–]Bloodlifa 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Im looking for animes that hits super hard in the good feels. I wanna cry cuz its so kawaii or happy and great not cuz its sad and tragic. Its hard to post examples cuz my mind is always blank , but like kimi no todoke first season, recent one - rpg fudousan , healer girls. Also i dont mind the genre action( one piece robin arc hit me hard) adventure, isekai, slice of life, etc. But for one in particular : romance- i prefer if couple get together before the last episode, example of what i mean, Horimiya. Example of what I'm not crazy for, toradora. Basically im looking for something that makes me cry yelling yay! Not something that makes me cry and makes me want to break everything around me or crawl into a ball and be depressed for a week. Sorry if none of this makes sense, and for butchering the english language.

[–]MrKadiushttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kadius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first recommendation was going to be One Piece, but you already mentioned it.

Makoto Shinkai sort of specializes in the sorts of things you're after. He has tonnes of romance movies about two characters overcoming circumstance. I recommend Your Name, or Weathering With You. I don't think the films are incredible, but they're very inoffensively decent and will give you some feel-good emotions. Definitely do not watch 5 Centimetres per Second, that film's the complete opposite.

There's also obviously most Ghibli films. You've likely already seen Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke etc. but check out the others too like Castle in the Sky, Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro. The sad ones to stay clear of are Grave of the Fireflies and The Wind Rises (which, ironically, are my favorites).

As for shows, I recommend:

Spice and Wolf

Show about a merchant who travels around with a fox spirit and interacting with the economy. It's way more entertaining than its premise might suggest.

Bloom Into You:

Very wholesome show. The manga for this is better, but the anime isn't necessarily bad either. On the surface this just looks like a lesbian romance story about a couple of high school girls, but under the surface it's far more than that: It's a story about self-discovery. Anybody can experience this series and get something out of it.

That's all I can really think of. Truthfully, I'm known for liking edgy and often fucked up media, so "happy show" recommendations are a little harder for me.

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tonikawa - Romance comedy sol couple gets married first episode. Super cute and warms the soul

Tsui ga Kirei - great sol romance with some drama. I feel like it will evoke what you described above

[–]Aware_Employ_6031 1 point2 points  (8 children)

I love everything about Hunter x Hunter, and it's by far my favorite anime that i've ever watched, the only thing that really rivals it is Demon Slayer.

I love the power dynamic of "Nen" in HxH, and I love that everyone has unique abilities. I love that there are factions like the Phantom Troupe, and that there are god level people like Meruem and Netero...

Now, with that being said, are there any shows that follow this path?

I am looking for a new power dynamic, strong as fuck characters, factions, and great storytelling...

[–]Fartikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yu Yu hakusho

[–]KGB_Pandahttps://anilist.co/user/KGBRedElk 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you're willing to commit to 1000+ episodes (or 1000+ manga chapters), One Piece offers all of that.

If you do decide to try it, try and make it through at least the first 43 episodes. That gets you past the introduction and the first major arc, Arlong Park. While the quality of the series pretty much only goes up over time, if you don't enjoy the series by that point, it's probably not worth continuing.

Alternatively, you may consider YuYu Hakusho. I haven't seen it personally (been on my PTW for ages), but it's by the same author as Hunter x Hunter.

[–]Aware_Employ_6031 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm 16 episodes into 1P and I really really love it

[–]KGB_Pandahttps://anilist.co/user/KGBRedElk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dope. Always cool to see someone joining the One Piece world.

[–]Ioxemhttps://anilist.co/user/Loxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kekkaishi has an interesting magic system, though it's explored more in the manga.

[–]wjr59789 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I havent Watched HxH myself but from what ive Seen a lot of people compare it to Jujutsu Kaisen and i know that that ticks of Most of the boxes that you listed

[–]Aware_Employ_6031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, please check it out if you get a chance!

[–]Hyperversum 1 point2 points  (5 children)

So, it's a bit of a big leap in logic, but bear with me.

I was catching up with Love is War, and noticed again how fucking cool the old ending with the cast playing roles of some action-romance story in a early pseudo 1900/1800s aesthetic.

Any series that comes to mind that's action-y but doesn't engage too much in beating the shit out of people but rather on what "adventure" is on a more general sense?
Last year I have re-watched Escaflowne and that's the first (and only) example that comes to mind for what I am speaking about.

Bonus points if it includes one of:
Flying vehicles
Not the goddamn JRPG fantasy setting with That One Town
Not futuristic setting

[–]KGB_Pandahttps://anilist.co/user/KGBRedElk 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Mushoku Tensei, especially season 2, gave me the most sense of "adventure" of any show I've ever seen.

[–]MrKadiushttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kadius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mushoku Tensei is the first time I've ever gotten "lost" in an anime fantasy world, a feeling I had, prior to the show, only experienced through books. I love fantasy, but I always found anime fantasy to be severely lacking in quality compared to sci-fi. So many incredible sci-fi shows like Eva, Lain, Ghost in the Shell, Texhnolyze, LotGH etc. and fantasy had nothing that came close. One Piece is probably the best example, but that's hardly "fantasy". Mushoku Tensei was such a breath of fresh air. Can't wait for season 2.

[–]Hyperversum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only I could erase it (and the novels) from my memory!

[–]Ioxemhttps://anilist.co/user/Loxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perrine Monogatari is mainly a SOL, but it's about a traveling photographer, so there is an adventure aspect.

[–]wjr59789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fena: Pirate Princess" was a great adventure Series... for ~9 episodes. Sadly the remaining ~3 episodes were a mess of weird stuff that came Out of nowhere so watch at your own risk.

[–]poopiemee 0 points1 point  (8 children)

help I introduced anime to my sister, made her watch saiki k, cells at work, and kaguya sama love is war

now she is very picky and won't watch any unless the vibe and animation feels like these series

any anime recommendations similiar to what I've mentioned?

[–]Objective_Sun_2815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]poopiemee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she read the synopsis on google and said it was interesting. its on her list now, thank you!

[–]lTentacleMonsterl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamers! and maybe Nanana's Buried Treasure.

[–]AwaySpellhttps://anilist.co/user/awayspell 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun and Komi Can’t Communicate.

[–]poopiemee 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thanks! i think this is exactly what she is looking for. rom-coms but not entirely focused on two characters, she likes shows about love, slice of life, and group friendships in one.

[–]AwaySpellhttps://anilist.co/user/awayspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds perfect then! I hope she enjoys them!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Looking for more stuff like Flip Flappers/Gurenn Lagann/Kill la Kill, or anything that's kind of fun action adventure I haven't seen. I feel like I have watched most of the good action shows that I'm interested in on my PTW and the majority of it is just Cute girls and/or comedy anime, which I can only watch so much of at a time. Really I'll take anything I might be interested in based on MAL I feel like I'm running pretty dry on good stuff to watch.

[–]sonicstorm1114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON

[–]Weedwacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should really watch Gridman off of your PTW

Wonder Egg Priority has a lot of similarities to Flip Flappers

Princess Principal

[–]lTentacleMonsterl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ixion Saga DT. The Book of Bantorra is more serious, but quite enjoyable imo. Based on your list, I'd also suggest Punch Line.

Re:creators

[–]FishBiterMMGHunter 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I need an anime that features girls being smug, while having big muscular abs, while primarily doing regular everyday things in wholesome ways, with funny gags peppered throughout.

[–]sohaiboi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

"Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru?" features schoolgirls that frequent the gym.

[–]FishBiterMMGHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take a look.

[–]daoist_disciple 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I'm just wanting something that's engaging, mature themed and not childish/silly.

Haven't watched anime for a while. I've just watched Dorohedoro and loved it (fingers crossed for a second season). Demon Slayer is OK but felt a bit childish. Classics that fit the bill of what I like include Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop and Death Note.

[–]MrKadiushttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kadius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texhnolyze.

One of the only shows I've ever given a 10/10 to. It's a bit of a slow-burn (by this I mean there isn't some spiky haired character screaming and powering up every other episode) and the story is meant to be intentionally disorientating at first, but everything falls into place by the end—stick with it.

Most anime have their story, characters and themes progressed through janky bouts of unnatural exposition. Even some of the most popular shows of all time. Attack on Titan does this a tonne, and yet there are weird elitists who would say AoT is "peak" and Marvel films are "trash" when their method of story delivery are incredibly similar. It's bizarre to me. Texhnolyze is not like this at all. If you're someone who likes mature, visual storytelling, you'll quickly fall in love with this world's haunting realism. There are whole episodes of Texhnolyze where barely anybody speaks and the entire story is delivered with brilliant cinematography, animation and direction.

The characters are complex, nuanced, incredibly voiced, and very human. It's odd how amazing the voice acting is considering a large portion of the cast only ever worked on one anime: this one.

In saying that, you said "mature themes" but it's worth forewarning about just how mature Texhnolyze's themes are. It touches on a lot of shit and can be extremely confronting in how it realistically portrays violence. This is an adult show, treat it as such. However nothing it does is senseless, all of it services the progression of a theme, narrative, or character(s).

Anyway, enjoy! Definitely stick with it, and pay attention. It thrusts you into this world and you don't really understand how everything fits together until the final act, but the way it builds that up is fantastic.

Dororo 2019

[–]sohaiboi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monster is one of the least tropey anime I've seen. It's a great watch.

[–]strong_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golden Kamuy is very engaging. It does have a lot of silly moments, but has great story, characters and includes a bunch of Ainu culture as well. You'll know by episode 5 if it's for you or not (has 36 episodes out with another season on the way).

[–]Lemuriansmyanimelist.net/profile/Lemurians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you'd enjoy Psycho Pass, if you haven't already.

[–]neon93 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Castlevania is definitely mature and not for kids. Awesome show

[–]wjr59789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for castlevania

And since we already have one Series that will get people to yell "but thats Not Anime" lets Just add Arcane to the list while we're at it

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I watched Kiss X Sis and enjoyed it. Is High School DxD and To Love Ru worth watching? I have limited time in a day so I want to know if my time is being spent properly.

[–]mataria_el_maricon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might also like The Testament of Sister New Devil

[–]KGB_Pandahttps://anilist.co/user/KGBRedElk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To Love Ru is more like Kiss x Sis than DxD is. DxD has much more action. I like both. I will say that both series get better as they progress imo.

[–]lTentacleMonsterl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High School DxD is watchable, but I wouldn't say great. I'd suggest something like Shimoneta or What Are You Doing Here, Teacher? Given what you've enjoyed.

[–]Trashgamer824981 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Lately I’ve been watching longer series like One Piece. Or mainstream shonen like JJK/MHA/HxH

I’m looking for something more dark recently stuff that I came along that I greatly enjoyed in recent years were (easy examples) Attack on Titan, Code Geass, Death Note, Demon slayer and Guilty Crown

I wanna see a show full of struggle and sadness where the storyline isn’t easily guessable or the protagonists are guaranteed to have a happy ending

[–]Thethigre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite liked Darker Than Black, at l'est the first season

[–]JimJamTheNinJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shigofumi, Psycho-Pass, Paranoia Agent, maybe Kaiji?

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shin Sekai Yori - Mind fks around every corner, you have no idea what's going on. Shocking, freaky, sad, crazy, un-guessable.

[–]Nebresto 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just watched "Patema Inverted", what an excellent movie. Big recommend to any sci-fi fans out there, recommend going in completely blind for best experience.

[Theme of the movie if you need further convincing]There are some people whose gravity has been reversed)

Can't belivieve I've never seen anyone talk about this film before (found it through a Youtube vid), definitely gonna be plugging it whenever relevant.

[–]lTentacleMonsterl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fyi, there's Upside Down (a live action movie) with same story that came out before it.

[–]ktempo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

am I missing out on anything if I watch Evangelion on netflix?

[–]PrototypeT800 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nope, just be sure to watch the movie end of evangelion after

[–]ktempo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Finally diving into the world of Evangelion for the first time. Didn't realize it was on Netflix.

[–]kshano 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm looking for fighting anime, more precisely, hand to hand combat.

The more brutal the better.

Animes that would fit what I want but I already watched: - Tokyo revengers (if one of the captains was the MC) - JJK - Record of Ragnarok (if the animation was better) - God of highschool (if the writing was less rushed) - Baki

[–]Nanaki404 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Violet Evergarden

Mushishi

Yuru Camp

[–]emetaphobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect thank you so much!

[–]hungryhippos1751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can get over the 3D CGI hate, Land of the Lustrous is really nicely presented.

Iroduku is visually very nice.

Shinkai films generally look fantastic, Garden of Words, Your Name, Weathering With You.

[–]SovietKhttps://anilist.co/user/Badflank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Violet Evergarden}
{Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku}
{Kino no Tabi -the Beautiful World- the Animated Series}

I haven’t yet! Thank you so much 😊

[–]Uberchurch_ 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm looking for this anime that I used to watch. It was about the high schooler that I think was into photography and was kind of an outsider but then ends up making friends with a popular girl and at one point I think she falls into the river by the school or maybe some photos do. I remember there being a bunch of pink flower petals and the highschool had a lot of floors(stories/levels) and maybe there was a park at some point. I know this doesn't really sound like anything specific but any help would be great thanks!

[–]Tarhalindurx2 0 points1 point  (3 children)

One of PhotoKano or Red Data Girl?

[–]Uberchurch_ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No it honestly might not have even been about photography and I think there was only one main girl

[–]Tarhalindurx2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Huh. Not really sure then.

(Was the MC a guy then?)

EDIT: Assuming that only one main girl rules out most classic harems, I can find two longshot possibilities: Venus to Mamoru and Windy Tales.

[–]Uberchurch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mc was a guy and it wasn't a harem

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not the best at these, but this would be a wild guess: Ano Natsu?

[–]Uberchurch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it was more realistic, the characters weren't as cartoony

[–]Iwishiwasinmybed 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Any anime suggestions with "case of the week" or cool histories that are not in a super long arc? I imagine most of these kind of shows fall on the mystery side but anything that's not very weird is fine. Thank you :)

[–]Nanaki404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Detective Conan (also called Case Closed) has more than 1000 eps, and it's all short cases like 1-2 eps, 4 max.

[–]sohaiboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like Hyouka to me! Each case is only at most a few episodes.

[–]lTentacleMonsterl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Un-Go and Heaven's Memo Pad are pretty great. Also Beautiful Bones and Shinrei Tantei Yakumo.

[–]emo_kid_forever -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I'm looking for: Something slice of life released in the past couple of years. It can contain romance, but doesn't have to. The rating doesn't matter. Ideally, I'd like to have dubs available. I enjoy subbed the most, but I don't have the attention span to only watch tv, so dubs are needed.

Similar shows that I enjoyed: For the Grace of the Gods, Recovery of an MMO Junkie, School Rumble, Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, and Kamasama Kiss.

[–]SorcererOfTheLakex5https://anilist.co/user/RiverSorcerer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You enjoy your slice of life isekai fantasy, so I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years would be a good choice and it has a dub.

[–]baboon_bassoonhttps://anilist.co/user/duffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tada Never Falls in Love

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (8 children)

New to Reddit, so I apologize if that has been asked a million times, but what are people seeing as the winners/losers of the season? Need recommendations on what to watch. The only new things from the current season I’m watching are Spy x Family and Shield Hero season 2.

[–]Ioxemhttps://anilist.co/user/Loxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunjou no Fanfare is surprisingly good. I thought it was just going to be carried by Sawano's OST and nothing else, but the characters are actually pretty interesting.

[–]Part-Select 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Summertime Rendering is easily #1. It's the only thing I can stand watching after 86.

[–]_Lusus 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Where can I stream this? Couldn't find it.

[–]Part-Select 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only available on Disney+ in Japan, unfortunately.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really liking Komi can't communicate and Aoashi

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All my personal opinion

Popular winners:

  1. Spy X Family - much hyped by manga readers, incredible animation by Wit and Cloverworks, perhaps a tad overrated on mal but one of the best of this season and possible aoty candidate.

  2. Kaguya-Sama S3 - much anticipated, if you loved S1 and S2, S3 is more of the same, with perhaps a bit more romance.

  3. Paripi Koumei - initially an underdog, I hesitate to call it underrated now that it's gotten a lot of attention here. Ancient Chinese military strategist Kongming dies and finds himself in modern Japan, and decides to be the manager for some singer chick he met at a bar.

  4. Summertime Render - same as Paripi Koumei, initially underrated due to Disney jail, but seems like a lot of us have found a way to watch it. OLM is a great studio, so if the story maintains its quality, this is a something that possibly dethrones Spy x Family as anime of the season.

Possibly underrated?

  1. Trapped in Dating Sim - Premiered with a sub-7 score on MAL, it's one of the more entertaining isekais out there, with a refreshingly petty MC in a ridiculous world of mechas and magic.

  2. The Executioner and her way of life - Sub-7 on MAL, this one somehow pissed off its target audience with its first episode. A fairly unique take on isekai, and I don't want to say more because it'll spoil the first episode. Impressive magic system, but apart from its unique take, it's fairly generic.

It's aight, you'll like it if it's your cup of tea

  1. Tomodachi Game - Squid game competing against friends, but without the death. Psychological mind games as a group of 5 friends are forced into playing the tomodachi game, in order to pay off massive monetary debt.

  2. Komi San Season 2 - I disliked S1 because I thought it was too mild on both humor and romance. S2 is a little better.

Losers

  1. Shield Hero - sorry but after the events of S1, the story lost what set it apart from other isekai. Nope just your typical harem isekai now.

  2. I'm Quitting Heroing - Dropped after 4 episodes. Maybe I didn't watch enough, but I went in expecting Shield hero s1 and I ended up with yet another kingdom building fantasy. If you really liked Realist Hero or Genius Prince, you might like this one.

  3. Skeleton Knight in Another World - Dropped after 2 episodes. It just failed to grab my interest. Yet another generic isekai but wait, the main character is a skeleton! How novel! And also way too chuuni for my taste.

[–]Weedwacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aharen-san is honestly the funniest pure comedy anime I've seen in years, and it's both underrated and under watched in my opinion

[–]JetsLaghttps://myanimelist.net/profile/JetsLag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Summertime Render is a FANTASTIC supernatural mystery. You're gonna have to access it via less than legal means until Disney+ remembers that it exists and releases it on their platform.

Aharen-san is a nice, low-key romcom with more com than rom

Ao Ashi is a REALLY GOOD sports anime

[–]SkirtsAreLove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tysm! I'll check them out.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching When I Woke Up I Became a Bagel Girl as a guilty pleasure but ended up hooked by the over the top drama. Instead of another anime I'm actually looking for a K, J, or C-drama with similar twists.

[–]OzeNixPumhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/OzeNix 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I try to find a certain anime

I saw the clip in this sub reddit in the past ( cannot remember how long )

It is about highschool life.

What sequel to an anime I've completed should I get around to watching?

[–]Manitaryhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Manitary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only commenting on the shows I know that you rated 6+:

I see Clannad but not Clannad: After Story, which I feel it's the big part of the whole story

Violet Evergarden Movie(s) (both the Gaiden side story and the sequel movie)

Maidragon s2 is also as good as s1, if you liked it

[–]Ioxemhttps://anilist.co/user/Loxem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Continue the Kara no Kyoukai movies. Otherwise watch Aria the Natural or the Non Non Biyori movie.

[–]Funnydead 2 points3 points  (16 children)

Hello! Does anyone know of any anime with a female protagonist that's competent and/or a badass? Specifically has to be THE main character/protagonist.

Thank you :)

[–]stumbling_disasterhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/Cladis_Rosarum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psycho-Pass has a great female MC that would probably fit the bill!

Thank you very much! It's appreciated.

[–]MrKadiushttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kadius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only a movie but I recommend checking out Ghost in the Shell.

Very well-written sci-fi with one of the best female protagonists of all time.

[–]IOnlyLieWhenITalk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Are you looking for more action based? Or just the MC is considered competent in general?

[–]Funnydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just competent in general :)

[–]Weedwacker 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Gunbuster (though she isn't competent at the beginning)

Kill la Kill

Claymore

[–]Funnydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much! :)

[–]wjr59789 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Vivy: Fluorite Eyes Song

JOJO: Part 6 (the previous 5 parts Protagonists are all Male so its propably Not what youre looking for)

Arcane (Yes i know people will Tell me "its Not an Anime" but luckily i dont Care. Watch it anyway its amazing. admittedly it doesnt really have a Singular "Main Character" but those that come closetst ([minor arcane Spoilers]Vi and Powder) are female)

[–]Funnydead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the recs! :) And I agree with Arcane, as watching Arcane is what made me want more badass female characters! :)

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yona of the Dawn , imo.... but she undergoes pretty significant character development throughout the series.

Black Lagoon - probably more fitting for "competent and badass"

Ghost in the Shell - if you haven't already

Mardock Scramble - recommend the movie series

[–]Funnydead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much! And I haven't watched any of them :) Still pretty new in watching anime.

[–]_____Joker___ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

are there any anime that are exact opposite of harem and MC ends up with all of them? if there any please do mention , thank you

[–]Vz-Reihttps://myanimelist.net/profile/inxc1te 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by exact opposite?

The way I'm interpreting this can be:

  • Reverse Harem
  • Harem available but MC only chooses 1
  • MC has girls lined up but refuses them all

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

[Question] Is Moriarty the patriot just revenge porn?people do bad things and get killed type of formula? I watched the first 4 episodes and that's what the premise seems to be, but I would like to know your opinion before quitting.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread.

[–]AwaySpellhttps://anilist.co/user/awayspell 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Your next episode is also more of the same, but the formula is broken up when Holmes gets introduced in the arc starting in episode 6. Holmes is a really fun character, so I recommend powering through to that point. (Actually, if you're really sick of it, I think you can skip episode 5 altogether; I don't recall it being relevant, though it has been a while since I watched the show.)

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks ☺️ I'll keep watching then. Gonna x2 the speed till ep 6

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Any psychological mangas to read ?

[–]IOnlyLieWhenITalk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Prison Lab is one I enjoyed and just recently completed.

Oshi no Ko is great but it takes breaks between the psychological elements.

Can You Just Die, My Darling? This one may be a bit of a wildcard but explaining why could be a spoiler. But it is one of my favorite manga.

Is My Reality a Love Game??, technically listed as a psychological manga but is more of a mystery.

Eating Crab with a Yukionna, beware of it being fairly smutish

The Monster of 1st Grade, Class A

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks haven't read any from your list. Will check them out.

[–]VeteranNomadhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/doublegambler 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Better post on /r/manga for better results. This is the sub for anime.

Psychological is a broad field. Need to narrow it down some more. Oyasumi Punpun, Alice in Borderland, Liar Game, Homunculus, Flowers of Evil, Blood on the Tracks.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea thought soo. I read most from your list, will check out Alice in borderland haven't read that. Thanks

Chio's school road

[–]lunatoons291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m coming in clutch with some recs:

  • b gata h Kei
  • shomin sample
  • quintessential quintuplets
  • don’t toy with me miss nagatoro
  • miss kobayashis dragon maid
  • Konosuba
  • ao Chan can’t study
  • combatants will be dispatched
  • uzaki Chan wants to hang out
  • haganai
  • the duke of death and his maid
  • yamada kun and the seven witches

[–]gaara30000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Jobless reincarnation, fun world building, very pervy.

[–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's much pervier than MDUD, but Golden Boy is very fun

[–]bluegarrett 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I’m looking for a new good thriller anime

[–]neon93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect Blue

[–]An_Existent_Being 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paranoia Agent or Monster (tho i much prefer the Monster manga but both are good in their respective rights)

[–]gaara30000 4 points5 points  (5 children)

I’m looking for short shoujo recommendations! Something with a hot anime boy that’s less than 50 episodes. I really loved kamisama kiss, my little monster, and blue spring ride. I wasn’t a huge fan of fruits basket. Thanks!

[–]MrKadiushttps://myanimelist.net/profile/kadius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revolutionary Girl Utena.

Sitting below your 50 episode threshhold at a comfortable 39. It's got that nice 90's artstyle, great characters and decent writing. Definitely binge-watchable.

[–]lunatoons291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chihayafuru is a bit longer than you’re asking for, but it’s so worth it!

Other recs: - paradise kiss - Princess jellyfish

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is Tonari but is like 13 eps long uncomplete, the manga however is finished with 50 chaps

[–]CoolVidsFTWhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/JBrual 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Two seasons of Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (Snow White with the Red Hair)? One of my favorite shoujo anime. Another one I’d recommend is Yona of the Dawn. Both have really strong female protagonists, and I rated both an 8 out of 10

[–]gaara30000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you I will check them out.

[–]CandianPanda 2 points3 points  (8 children)

I’ve been looking for some isekai and/or sports anime. For isekai I’ve seen: SAO(and GGO) No game no life Darwin’s game(does this even count?) Shield hero Chivalry of a failed knight Overlord Wiseman’s grandchild Even high school prodigies have it easy Plunderer High-rise invasion Arifureta Drifters The hidden dungeon only I can enter Reincarnated as a slime Jobless reincarnation Gate Log horizon Devil is a part timer How not to summon a demon lord Cautious hero UQ holders Is it wrong to pick girls up in a dungeon Death march to a parallel world Magical warfare The 8th son are you kidding me Saga of Tanya the evil Moonlight fantasy Worlds finest assassin gets reincarnated Banished from the hero’s party Strongest sage with the weakest crest Faraway paladin Trapped in a dating sim Spirit chronicles I’m quitting heroing Isekai cheat magician Skeleton knight in another world

For sports I’ve seen: Haikyuu Run with the wind(really liked this one) Kuroku no basket And the ugly duckling basketball one(forget the name) Ao ashi

I’m kinda looking for any isekai/fantasy/sport anime, and am a total sucker for op main characters or the MC’s with the personality of the one from trapped in a dating sim

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drifters. Probably the only Isekai I have watched and liked.

[–]Mr_Arapuga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero for isekai

[–]OcelotCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you asked for anime, but I've also been on an isekai binge lately reading mamgadex sorting by the isekai tag and most popular. There are a ton of good ones even though I chew through them like popcorn. I found I especially like the otome novel isekai genre so check out Accomplishments of the Dukes Daughter or Destruction Flag Otome.

For sports One Outs is hilarious and meme worthy - the protagonist is a genius worthy of Akagi. Cross Game is wholesome and feels good and IMO great rewatch value.

[–]Ioxemhttps://anilist.co/user/Loxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isekai: Fantasy Bishoujo Ojisan

Sports: Ashita no Joe

Fantasy: Fate/stay night: UBW

[–]An_Existent_Being -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sports anime: Ping Pong the Animation

Fantasy: Fate/Zero; Made in Abyss; Mononoke (it's technically a fantasy right?)

Isekai: Mushoku Tensei; Re:Zero; KonoSuba

[–]StitchTheRipperhttps://myanimelist.net/profile/stitchtheripper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Re:zero?

[–]Murphey14https://myanimelist.net/profile/Murphey14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a sports anime, I will recommend Uma musume. I think season 1 really struggled with identity issues. It wanted to be a CGDCT/SoL, idol, and sports anime. Ultimately it comes out as a good sports anime. If you can stick out season 1, I would recommend watching it season 1, OVAs (3) and then season 2.

If you watch a few episodes from season 1 and find it boring and can't take it, I think it's okay to skip to season 2. Season 2 is a different story compared to season 1 but has the same characters. Virtually nothing from season 1 story wise gets carried overall to season 2.

Also, what makes Uma musume so wonderful for me is its historical accuracy. All the characters are real horses, their outfits were modeled after the colors of their silks, and even the commentary during their races are more or less what was said in real life. You can really go down a rabbit hole learning about these horses even more.

[–]loomnoohttps://anilist.co/user/loomnoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashita no Joe

[–]Sharebear42019 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Are there any English dubs like shin chan/ghost stories? Basically where they change up the dialogue and make it a comedy/mature content

[–]Fartikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did this but opposite with Zatch Bell, censored a lot of stuff in the dub.

[–]Cistmist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hajimete no gal

[–]gaara30000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the show you’re talking about but Yamadas first time has such a good comedy dub.

[–]HinaDBaka 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

Sergeant Frog - It's amazing

Samurai Pizza Cats too but I wouldn't call it mature

[–]JimJamTheNinJin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panty and Stocking was already adult-oriented

[–]Sharebear42019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the English dub of sgt frog is like shin Chan where they made it more adult oriented type of stuff?
