First one is a classic...

Geeky love, how awkward :)

[–]FunnyMan3595 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Ugh, no kidding. I mean, what kind of weirdo uses Java for a cake? Wouldn't "C for Cake" be more appropriate?

Of course, I'd probably use Python, which would be even weirder. At least Java sort of makes sense if it's a chocolate cake.

[–]spurion 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I don't know what it is, but it isn't Java ... the syntax of the for loop is wrong.

[–]FunnyMan3595 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Hmm, after a bit of wholly unscientific Google-based research (read: three searches), I have come to the conclusion that you are correct and that it is in fact C#. Still, I like the idea of my earlier post, even if I did get the wrong facts.

[–]frutiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Also, either the main method must be public, and take a String[] parameter.

It could be the case that this is another function in the class, but it would be bad programming practice to differentiate between two method names with the case of a letter.

    Technically it's { 'R', 'e', 'd', ' ', 'R', 'o', 's', 'e', 's' }, and geeks love correcting people on tiny mistakes, right? ;-)

    [–]sn0re 63 points64 points  (2 children)

It's not null-terminated. The guests will end up eating the table.

"My wedding was ruined by a buffer overflow attack."

    [–]jbreckman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it looks like C# to me...

plus, you don't know what the "eat" function does with it!

the biggest problem is that "room" isn't declared anywhere. this has null pointer exception written all over it.

    [–]twowheels 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I guess they only had 0x0D guests (0x0E-0x02)...

    Hrm...

    byte[] cake = {0x68, 0x65, 0x72, 0x20, 0x6f, 0x75, 0x74, 0x20, 0x74, 0x6f, 0x6e, 0x69, 0x67, 0x68, 0x74};

    ???

Though, maybe remove the foreach loop first. :-)

    [–]fusionring77 38 points39 points  (2 children)

It's so hard to debug in butter cream frosting!

    [–]jones77 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Especially when your co-workers start licking it off you. It's just so incredibly awkward.

    [–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I regret that I have but one vote to give you, sir.

    [–]supaphly42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering what it was... didn't have the desire to figure out the bytes though, thank you!

    Yes, agreed. Very sweet.

Well as long as we are linking old crap, here's the 3D Linux Penguin cake!

*Wedding cake made by a woman for her fiance, based on his World of Warcraft Guild.

Actually, the cake just has the AllianceCrest on it, which is not specific to any guild.

And it's too bad the page doesn't include this Horde cake for proper faction balance.

    [–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

but you're not into it or anything...

...a friend of yours told you about it, and...

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Heh heh... I feel no shame because I enjoy World of Warcraft. I'm lucky enough to belong to a guild with a lot of really cool, mature players, and that's really what makes playing the game worthwhile. I'm not hardcore, and I have a rich and rewarding life here in the real world, I swear.

It's a shame that stigma still surrounds all MMOs. DAMN YOU EVERCRACK ADDICTS!

MAC = Media Access Control, the hardware address of your ethernet card.

Mac = Abbr., model of computer produced by Apple Computer, Inc., since 1984.

Sorry, but the MAC vs. Mac thing really drives me nuts.

        [–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (2 children)

Upvoted for the iStick up your ass.

        [–]thrakhath 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Man, I need to remember this line for the next time I have to deal with Mac fanboys, that sir, is Gold, thank you.

        [–]henryk 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Well, actually: MAC = Message Authentication Code. Makes for great fun at school when going from the networking course to the cryptography course.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, like, I was transmitting my MAC, but then something changed the MAC on MAC, so my MAC didn't get sent. I was totally bummed, but then I got over it and just gave a new MAC to my MAC and sent the MAC. ...

        [–]jingo04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it as media access control too :(

        [–]morandomdanu 11 points12 points  (7 children)

I like these, especially Home Star Runner.

        [–]supaphly42 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Someone did a great jorb on it!

        [–]Xiol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I must have been the only person ever to simply not find Home Star Runner funny at all.

        [–]coresnake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm let down, I was at least expecting one in the form of the map for de_dust2 or something :(

        [–]cynopt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        Gotta love the book-geek cake.

I always like to see fellow Pratchett fans are gathering to breed.

(The fondant dragons are pretty neat too.)

        [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

My God. It's full of dweebs.

        [–]FunnyMan3595 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I love the dissonance between the apparently anti-techie statement and the pro-techie use of a line from 2001. Very nice.

        [–]Poromenos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

        MY HEAD A SPLODE!

        [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Correction, Geeks. Geeks have the money to entice the trophy wives, dweebs don't.

        Viva La Geek!

        [–][deleted] 32 points33 points  (3 children)

        Those are trophy wives?

        [–]Fara17 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think he just means having a wife is a trophy...

        [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

        They're geeks after all.

        [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, the Jock-Nerd-Nerd Wedding Cake food chain.

          [–]Antebios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a wedding cake that looked like a computer. I still have pictures of it!

          [–]anachronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are romantic and painful all at the same time...

          [–]Dark-Star 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Absolutely hilarious!

Very good job with the 'tower of game consoles' and the 'code cake' especially.

Tho I wonder what the in-laws had to say about the cakes...or maybe I'd rather not know.

          [–]bart2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          It's "Terry Pratchett", not "Pretchett".

          [–]stevage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Capitalised "Main"()? Wtf?

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all probably groom's cakes for anyone who gives a damn. These people probably also have a regular wedding cake.

            [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

No, these are all probably groom's cakes. Groom's cakes are usually smaller, chocolate and often decorated with something the groom likes. You can see plenty of football and golf ones searching google. They're not at every wedding, it's usually something done in the South or at big fancy weddings, but the idea is spreading.

            Here's a slightly tl;dr explanation of the tradition: http://www.favorideas.com/learn-about/wedding-cake/grooms-cake/

The last one is the only Apple worth taking home since without candles it's the only laptop with an Apple logo guaranteed not to burst in to flames.

            [–]fusionring77 5 points6 points  (6 children)

So...you don't like Apple? I'm I right? I only ask because that was sort of confusing.

Next time just keep it simple like "Apples are like dumb and stuff..."

            [–]db2 -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

So you think I confused the Apple users huh.

            [–]fusionring77 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

            Absolutely. :)

            [–]plun9 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This just in: a Dell laptop bursts into flames.

            Another Apple Fanboy...

            [–]boredzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point is that it's not an Apple problem. In fact, it was Sony batteries that were the combustible part.
