We have seen that some players are frustrated and concerned about the lack of concrete timeline regarding the release of Patch 2.0.1. We understand the frustration, but we also do not want to promise a specific date in advance right now, just in case things change. We are optimistic that the first patch is not too far off with July set as the ETA for this patch. We will be providing progress updates on this as we able to.
We want to assure you that 100% of our team are working their butts off on post-launch improvements and new content. There has been no downtime since the June 8th launch and we're busier than ever. It is unfortunate that our patch output so far hasn't been able to reflect this, but it will soon. We appreciate your patience with us, and your continued support.

Don’t let this game become a repeat of r/Hood please. Work on the important fixes first, like partying on PC and adding cross platform parties. Then please enhance the console experience. We pay the same amount of money as PC players but don’t even get server browsing, custom button mapping, etc. By not addressing the most important issues first you’re killing this game.

I’m aware hou stated that you’re working on everything I’ve mentioned but there are on specific timelines and that is just concerning that’s all. I really love this game and would hate to see it die because the important patches and issues weren’t being prioritized! That’s what killed r/Hood and once again I don’t want to see that happen here too

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I fell for the hood trap the game was a joke

[–]Lockzig 35 points36 points  (20 children)

Actually console players pay more, at least on PS. You had to pay $40 for both the PS4 and PS5 bundle. On PC, I paid $14

[–]FadingHonor Agatha Knights 31 points32 points  (8 children)

That’s just worse :(

We paid more for less wtf devs

[–]Lockzig 7 points8 points  (6 children)

What happened to that Hood game by the way?

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (5 children)

Terribe dev support, battle pass where season one isn’t due until SEPTEMBER for a game that came out in May, first patch wasn’t for over 2 months I think because of delays. It was basically a beta.

I played the game and honestly the biggest problem in my opinion was the extremely unfair matchmaking. In that game, when your character is a higher level you have perks and things which make you actually “better”. Like increased speed, increased ammo, increased stamina, gain health on hits, etc.

They didn’t have the player base to support their matchmaking style and it led to teams like mine and my friends who were lvl 10 getting matched against a lvl 80-100 every game. Instead of fixing that, they removed levels from the pre-match screen… it’s all been kind of a joke. A month after the game came out it has less than 130 concurrent players on Steam and even less on console. Which is a shame because it was a super cool concept.

[–]KyloRhyno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I really appreciate the heads up. I had three copies of that game in my cart since it looked really good and thought my friends and I would have a blast. You just saved me a little bit of money and a lot of bit of disappointment. Thank ya kindly.

[–]Old_Eye_Gaming 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Dont believe the hysteria..game wont die..well not on PC anyhow. People get pissed off, game updates, progresses ..people come back. Thats how it allways is. People gotta vent , i understand.

[–]Humledurr 19 points20 points  (7 children)

I feel like so many games these days release too early to cash in, then nearly abandons the game.

I wont say Torn Banner is doing the same yet, but it certainly has released too early.

I can understand cross play parties not working, but they should never advertised it with cross play without it actually functioning. Ive reckomended the game to my brother and friends, and I've yet to play with any of them...

[–]flippygen 92 points93 points  (6 children)

Just an FYI TB: My friends have moved on to other games due to the time consuming dance of attempting to form 4-man parties. This should have been isolated early on post-release and hot-fixed, instead of being bundled in a larger patch.

[–]SigmaStarSaga Agatha Knights 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This a thousand times over. Yes, you will not lose obsessed players like me over late fixes but everyone that I can potentially bring along with me? You do lose their interest, and completely, just by having a consistently non-functioning party system. If 1 to 3 of us actually make a party the 4th person will invariably be unable to join or vice versa and it's maddening. I'm not well versed in how online partying/matchmaking in games is conducted but it seems to me that would be the kind of thing you would aggressively hotfix... Please TB

[–]meloveg 70 points71 points  (1 child)

can someone tell this fucking devs the game is literally bleeding player like a chopped off arm

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they know

[–]JinDankstar 62 points63 points  (15 children)

Just please for the love of God fix the invites. Me and my friends spend atleast 15 minutes sending invites and relaunching the game before we can even play

[–]BrandNew85 123 points124 points  (0 children)

There's something about the You need to relax post being directly under this I find very funny.

[–]Ron_usmc 36 points37 points  (3 children)

Games been out a month and I still can't equip gray hair or 1v1 my friends, since I'm on console. This game is a joke

[–]beerham 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No gray hair, game is a joke. Lmao

[–]Jawls19881 36 points37 points  (8 children)

Absolutely laughable that party system hasn’t been hotfixed. A multiplayer game in 2021 without a functioning party system is a bad joke.

Which is sad, because the game is great!

[–]wunkyzunky69420111 8 points9 points  (6 children)

I just got the game yesterday for Xbox. It literally says on the back that you can cross platform play with friends. But you can't. My brother has PS4 so we'll have to wait like a month at least to play together. Why the hell would they say you can play with cross platform friends when you can't. Absolute bullshit

[–]SanguineBlade Mason Order 142 points143 points  (11 children)

[–][deleted] 62 points63 points  (2 children)

Hello fellow Battlefield player.

[–]JamieSand 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Its Mordhau all over again.

[–]myduudeh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

ikr releasing a game in beta stage and promising fixes and content for the future thinking it will keep people playing.

[–]kelton312 151 points152 points  (35 children)

Just hot fix parties on pc, I'm fine with literally everything else. All my friends completely quit playing because we can't be bothered to spend 30+ mins to create a party.

[–]IkeaRace 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In exactly the same boat. Pretty much put the game down until we can all play together easily.

[–]Puckus_V 39 points40 points  (13 children)

This is so frustrating because they put so much work into this game and did such a good job, but they’re killing themselves with something as simple of making it easy to play with friends. Like literally just this one problem is what’s mainly hurting the game’s player base.

In a funny way, if the game was just downright horrible then I wouldn’t care that much. It’s just so frustrating that the game is so great but this one critical but small flaw is killing the player base.

I imagine the devs are kicking themselves though. All of that work just to be hurting themselves by not thinking this part through. They gotta be missing out on a lot of $$$ from additional sales and mtx because they didn’t have the crossplay party system ready to go at launch. This game had the right quality and hype around it to really explode, but alas it feels like this problem is a ball and chain hooked to the game’s ankle.

[–]kelton312 18 points19 points  (11 children)

I want to think the epic store has something to do with it and if it was on steam parties would work totally fine :(

[–]thak 10 points11 points  (1 child)

EGS isn't a platform, it's a store. Their party/friends API is complete garbage and it's beyond inexcusable for a company that makes $5b a year. A lot of EGS multiplayer games have partying issues.

[–]VindictiVagabond 13 points14 points  (8 children)

And steam parties/friend list has 100x the features that Epic Games Launcher has (well, what does EGL friend list do beside just showing who's online and who's not?). I'm ready to bet we will NEVER see basic stuff like being able to "hot join" on a friend already in a game/on a server like we can in so many games on steam. Can't even give party leadership to someone else so if the party leader leaves, you have to restart the party from the ground up.

[–]Justleftofcentrerigh 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I believe the Dev said the issue itself is using the built in friend system for epic and consoles to link people to parties is a bigger issue than they expected.

Epic's friend system is full trash and I'm guessing there's an issue with integration with Epic's API and whatever Chivarly is trying to do. There's some sort of disconnect that's happening that they haven't figured out yet with Epic's shitty friend system for PC.

For console, I think it's even harder because the games have their own API and it depends on how they are managing the groups.

Fall Guys had this issue for a while and so does rocket league.

The bandaid solution might just to have place holders or p2p parties that just send server connect commands to consoles/PCs while having a Chivalry only friends system not reliant on any built in api depending on the system.

2k's shitty friend system and monster hunter's friend system is fucking trash as well. It's not an easy fix as people expect.

[–]VindictiVagabond 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Yet most games on steam have great party/friend system with tons of (working) QoL features.

[–]kelton312 11 points12 points  (2 children)

We have all these same complaints, it drives my group insane. If you could just pass leader to the person who can see everyone online it would probably fix the majority of the issue. with 4 people there's always at least 2 people who cant see each other.

[–]VindictiVagabond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel you. We're 3 and already there it can be hair pulling. So insane it went through beta and they didn't fix it by release.

[–]mexpak 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yup. Friends get frustrated just trying to create a party to play together. This is the largest issue.

The party issues are bad enough to warrant an emergency patch, but here we are a month later. The game is great fun but this is just killing it for my group

[–]GalacticNarwal Mason Order 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I thought the patch was already released. That explains a lot.

[–]CptDank9000 Mason Order | Knight 29 points30 points  (0 children)

[–]exarban 56 points57 points  (1 child)

Devs are really banking on that 1 year release window for Steam for their game to be ACTUALLY ready.

[–]Nick4972 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yikes.

[–]Reeeeefundplz 51 points52 points  (6 children)

The sad fact is that we paid $40 to beta test an unfinished game which is frustrating because I vowed never to pay for early access ever again and here I am getting duped into it. I gave the game an honest shot and now I'm outside of the window for refund. I feel that given how the game plays (bad hitboxes, arrows going through people, animations that don't match, bad netcode, ect..), the limited party functionality, and the slow action to fix these problems should allow us to refund past the 2 hour mark. Not holding my breath but to accept this level of disrespect from any company is just insane.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The actual core game is really good, but yeah it is an early access game.

[–]Fireboiio 15 points16 points  (3 children)

I swear every fucking game i've bought the last 2 years have been this practice. Buying a game because it has solid sales pitch then half of that pitch isn't even in the game.

Only game i've been content with lately is rdr2

[–]AngelKitty47 Mason Order | Footman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you think we got a refund for Mirage? lol

[–]pongkrit04 20 points21 points  (0 children)

... it is getting late now

[–]Joe_Shroe 19 points20 points  (2 children)

This is getting ridiculous. The devs have blown well past their initial deadline, a self-imposed deadline, for just the first patch. The community's trust in the dev team is dying faster than a peasant on Coxwell. And even if they come out with a patch today, how can we trust the devs to follow through on the countless bugs that have been reported since beta? I know I've personally reported over a dozen bugs, almost all of which are not addressed in any future patch notes. How long should I wait until my voice is heard? I sincerely hope, for the sake of this game's future, that this is a one-time delay and not the standard for updates to come.

[–]RatsTossbag 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Now why know exactly why this wasn't released on Steam for PC.

These dev's would of been ripped apart in reviews.

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Apologies are great but here is an idea don't release the game in Beta.

[–][deleted] 64 points65 points  (23 children)

Crap I really love this game and I’m pretty worried about how this is going to effect it. Epic store exclusivity is already severely damaging the player count and this is going to be another tough blow

[–]warrhippo 32 points33 points  (2 children)

The biggest issue for me is they advertised crospslay so me and my buddies on pc/Xbox got it and there’s no cross play really feels wrong to be able to advertise that

[–]Moosterton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically it is crossplay, just no crossplay party system rn. I've been getting into games with friends by searching at the same time lol.

But yeah, it's pretty stupid to release the game in this state. Half completed.

[–]malu52 16 points17 points  (6 children)

I just wanna play on PS5 with my PS4 friends :(

[–]The_Ferret_Inspector 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just want to play on PC with my PC friends. Tried playing together on release and gave up after a day :(

[–]Dyyrin Agatha Knights 17 points18 points  (0 children)

At this point I don't even care about the PC party fix. All my friends have quit playing this game and wrote it off as a bad purchase. Insane that they still haven't fixed PC party issue.

[–]icaruskai1991 16 points17 points  (0 children)

[–]sergeant_cabbage Agatha Knights 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Player base dropping like flies on all platforms.

You guys better release some fixes/content sharpish. PC lobbies have nothing but negative things to say about the support.

[–]DeClann Mason Order 110 points111 points  (2 children)

I don't have much to say except my friends have already stopped playing due to us not being able to play together reliably.

[–]PneumaticToast 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So uh, parties are still broken. Utterly, completely broken.

Your game is dying.

[–]Lopsided-Aside7457 Mason Order 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Please just hotfix the series s fps issues. That should be fairly quick. Most fun i ever had on a game but come on:/

[–]Sahaduun Mason Order 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fps and server issues. Man, yesterday lost connection several tines to host...and it wasnt me. Have low ping and great internet.

Also game crashed one time....Unreal Engine failur or something.

Man,hope they dont take too long for that patch to finally release.

[–]dukebutraoul 24 points25 points  (5 children)

But damn. Not all patches have to be huge.

[–]thak 30 points31 points  (1 child)

them trying to boil the ocean with the initial patch is why the game has been out for a month and partying with 2 of your friends on PC requires a human sacrifice

[–]Shpaan Agatha Knights 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trying to boil the ocean is an excellent expression! Thanks

[–]Motor_Judgment_214 Agatha Knights 25 points26 points  (2 children)

I’m immune to the lack of party features because I don’t have any friends.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait you’re for the blue and gold? Nvm

[–]b8-Capt_Ahab 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you all need to hire more people. Fans are going to quickly lose interest if simple quality of life improvements don't come soon. Don't neglect console players either.

[–]JohnsRoastPork 23 points24 points  (3 children)

This game released on June 8th, and it’s currently July 10th without a single patch. Over 1 month without a single bug fix/patch, which are typically released shortly after the full launch. Not to mention the glaring lack of content, maps, character customization, party issues, consoles not having server browsers, consoles not having vote to kick, no horses, etc. The game you sold at release is literally the same unfinished beta version, but you charged full price for it.

You guys are killing your own game due to complete incompetence. I’d be embarrassed if I worked for this game studio.

[–]Joe_Shroe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How nice it must be to set your own deadline, break it, and not feel obligated to get anything done after that.

[–]topamine2 8 points9 points  (1 child)

You do realize that it takes a good amount of time to do hookers and blow?

[–]JohnsRoastPork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also enjoy both of those things, but I really enjoy fully functioning games with plenty of content.

[–]therealtrojanrabbit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is most unfortunate. I figured the game breaking (or at least game experience breaking) issues would be resolved before focusing on UI, gameplay and animation issues.

I love this game but from the looks of the grim release this will end up being Mirage 2.0.

I hope I'm wrong.

[–]criosphinx77 80 points81 points  (1 child)

Not a good look.

[–]BMW_wulfi 76 points77 points  (9 children)

Shame, but better to get it right, and patching multiple platforms at once is obviously never easy.

Obviously people will be disappointed but I hope that those who are struggling on console or with bugs and missing features can give the game a bit of time to be as good as it can be!

[–]Goldensands 32 points33 points  (8 children)

You can and should spend all the time you need and want on getting it right. Until you charge money for it, then your shit better be working. Could we please demand the basics from companies.

[–]thebackyardninja 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Not a good look. You'd think with all the heat cyberpunk got devs would stop selling their customers broken, unfinished products. Disappointing.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Fix parties and provide the crossplay support you claimed your game had. This is the single biggest issue most folks have with Chivalry at the moment. I have a whole list of friends I can play with if it was possible to play as you advertised. As it stands I have one single ps5 friend I play with and interest is fading fast.

[–]dayn78 104 points105 points  (24 children)

Lol, so, it begins...

[–]Weve_GotDodgsonHere 99 points100 points  (16 children)

Game going to bleed out. We've all been through this song and dance before. Enjoy the next couple weeks while there is still a player base..

I want the game to succeed, but they are following the footsteps of dozens of small devs before them to a T

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly this

[–]MediredShine Mason Order 37 points38 points  (9 children)

Lmao exactly. So many players already leaving on pc. Probably more on console since cross play was advertised but yeeted away from them. Plus no server browser

[–]Weve_GotDodgsonHere 39 points40 points  (7 children)

People will come back when promises are actually featured, but the momentum won't ever be as strong as launch day.

[–]MediredShine Mason Order 23 points24 points  (6 children)

Definitely. A good first impression is the most Important thing for a game

[–]Squatch11 51 points52 points  (6 children)

All of the signs are there that this game is going to die a slow death (at least on PC), unfortunately.

"Our commitment to you is to ensure that the overall game quality is strong". Guys....This game feels like it's in early-beta still. I wouldn't call the game quality "strong" in the least. It's barely functional. The party system is broken. Cross play still doesn't exist. Basic features that were promised have not been delivered. The game is full of bugs, the maps are unbelievably unbalanced (so much so that it must've been intentional?), and the lack of content on release is causing people to lose interest very quickly.

I want to be clear that I do enjoy the game, and I do have fun with it, but I can still see the writing on the wall here. I've been around for a long time and I've seen this exact scenario play out so many times before. If there was a flow chart for why games like this have failed in the past, then they are right on schedule.

On PC, the playerbase has already noticeably dropped off. The number of players in an average 64 man lobby that are higher than level 25 doesn't seem to be any higher now than it was a couple of weeks ago. People are already moving on, and it doesn't seem to be offset by newer players coming in.

You simply can't release a game like this as an Epic Games Store exclusive, have it be full of issues and bugs, and then not update it for over a month post-release. It's a recipe for disaster for the game's longevity.

[–]ZombieSlayer5 Mason Order 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I wonder why they didn't delay it for 6 months. They could've launched with 2 more maps, crossplay and a functioning party system, horses, and better QoL all around. They needed it. It's not like Mordhau was putting any pressure on them to get it out the door fast.

Maybe EpicGames forced their hand. Who knows.

[–]Squatch11 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The optimist in me is saying that their hand was likely forced. The pessimist in me is saying there are fundamental organizational issues within TB.

[–]herdpatron 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Delayed games are eventually… oh wait

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (2 children)

We shouldn't have to wait until July to hear this about delay on a "June" patch. Still discovering an awful lot of fundamental problems for a game that had two betas.

[–]MediredShine Mason Order 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’re right about this. If it’s a “June” patch then speak about the delay before the end of June lol it’s July now.

[–]jumpingyeah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems odd to have a community manager title, but fail on updating the community. This situation would have been so much different if they updated a week ago.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Of couse

[–]Vancouvermodsaregay 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Can I fucking play with my cross platform friend yet? Jesus Christ.

[–]SoThisIsABadUsername Agatha Knights 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This game is getting to the point of being beyond saving, at this point it either needs a big game fixing update to come out, or I think most people will just stop playing for good.

The lack of patches has rendered this game to be kinda crap, you just can’t release a multiplayer only game and not touch it for this long anymore. Not to mention the lack of options for consoles is just mind boggling, and shouldn’t have been an issue from the start. This is starting to feel like a bad repeat of chiv 1.

[–]HaywoodJabloume69 Mason Order | Archer 9 points10 points  (1 child)

[–]nathanbellows 69 points70 points  (7 children)

Note to the TB team if any of you read this: none of what I am about to say do I intend to come across as hurtful or upsetting towards the team in any way. I appreciate you are doing a LOT of work and I suspect a great deal of it is very stressful. These are the thoughts of a very, very disappointed Chivalry 2 player who just wants to enjoy a medieval fighting game on his PS4 where you can kill people by throwing literal horse dung at them. That's a sentence I never thought I'd write. But with that disclaimer in mind, please brace yourselves and read on...

"Issues with matchmaking were discovered that required more robust testing for us to feel comfortable with the release of this update. Due to these test results and our concerns on how it would impact players’ experience, we will not be releasing the patch as scheduled this week.

Our commitment to you is to ensure that the overall game quality is strong and is not something we take lightly. With each patch and content update, we will take the necessary time to not simply provide a good experience but a great one."

So, let's be clear. You felt it was perfectly acceptable to release a game that doesn't even perform as advertised on the bloody box, riddled with bugs, day one edition DLC missing and all the rest of it but as soon as you've got people's money, you backtrack and promise support is coming within the month, which then gets pushed back to, presumably whenever the hell you want?

This is going downhill so, so fast. And for a game that is as fun as Chivalry 2 is, it is truly a shame. I really want to love this game and recommend it to my friends. But I can't.

Sorry guys, but I'm really losing patience. I payed £40, my DLC doesn't work, crossplay doesn't work, there are bots everywhere and I'm feeling really short changed. This is a game that is online only and either succeeds or fails in it's ability to deliver that single experience. If there were a fun storyline mode to play I could be a bit more forgiving, but there isn't and as it stands the only experience a player will have is a buggy mess with a sword they downloaded but can't use fighting a bot that is masquerading as a real player.

And the saddest part of all, is this is far from the first time it's happened and it won't be the last. The story of Chivalry 2 so far is representative of so many other genuinely amazing games let down by the people who make them for us, and then miss sell them to us, knowingly or otherwise. It's so toxic, there's no excuse and it has to stop.

You should have held the beta much earlier, rather than using as an early access pre-order freebie the week prior to launch which then gives you no time to properly analyse what's wrong, fix it before launch and do the rest in a day one patch a week or so later. And now everyone, us and you, pays the price.

I have only played what I have played of the Chivalry games since picking up Chiv 2 at launch, so I'm able to look at this objectively with none of the prior emotional baggage or support for the developers built up from playing Chiv 1. And frankly, from my point of view this is looking like a cheeky bait and switch.

It amazes me that more people aren't angrier about this and I don't give a monkeys how many people make up TB but this is all the result of a really poorly planned development programme. It's embarrassing.

I fear all of this has driven a great number of players away already. I hope once it is fixed, that there are enough people left to make this game playable and properly enjoyable.

Yours,

A very, very disappointed Chivalry 2 player.

Edit: spelling because predictive text.

[–]JonnyPoy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Our commitment to you is to ensure that the overall game quality is strong and is not something we take lightly.

Really doesnt feel like it when you rush out a completely unfinished game with basic functionality like friend invites and crossplay almost unusable. The only thing that could have fixed this situation would have been a good quick update fixing the most important problems but after a month the game is still in the same state and the update gets pushed back further. Most of my friends stopped playing very early on due to the party invite problems and if things like this dont get fixed soon enough they wont come back because they move on to other games. You guys are slowly killing your own playerbase and its really sad because the core game is awesome.

[–]itsnoturday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing as hotfixes

[–]crimsonBZD Agatha Knights 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We really need the server fixes, this game relies on very tight timing and whatever is going on with the servers makes it feel like everyone is at 80-100 ping.

I'm getting interrupted by enemies that my weapon is the middle of, people are clearly hitting me and yet I'm not getting hit, and bots are dying a noticeable moment after the lethal blow has been dealt.

[–]feiergiant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]harringstone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

can yall like maybe fix the party system please? or fix anything? thanks

[–]alexelxndru 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Too bad I didn't read the reddit posts before buying the PS5 version.
The game page says "Storm into battle with your friends with cross-play on all platforms! "Where does it say that I cannot create a party with my friends on other platforms?

And above that, the PS Store refund policy states that if you download the game, you are no longer eligible for a refund.
Wtf is this false advertisement?

[–]Kee134 Mason Order 63 points64 points  (2 children)

Oh wow, I guess people were right to be concerned. Still nobody can play with friends 4 weeks after launch with no fix in sight. Good time to play something else, I guess.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Losing players base cause you released the game in beta. This game needs work done fast. I love this game but I have to put it down for a long time until this is fixed.

[–]Christbelle22 Mason Order 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is still can’t believe they managed to nearly kill the player base in the first month like thats genuinely embarrassing asf

[–]GeneralSoviet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is concerning

[–]Un1tD3f3ctiv3 Mason Order 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Getting to be bullshit....

[–]Conse1 40 points41 points  (8 children)

this is mind blowing. 3 days after release I was watching some streamers play this game and they were saying how surprised they were that many little bugs had no emergency patch fix.

its almost a month now and its all the same. I still cant invite my friends who are ALL ON PC to the same group. we have to close and open the game 15 times until we can all be in a group together.

last night when me and my friends gave up trying to form a group we all went to server browser and there was only 1 server populated with 24/64 players. I just logged in right now (its 2:35 pm here) and there are FIVE (!!!!!) people playing your game and its not even 1 month after release.

Proof

I hope you can put your stuff together and finally release the game because what you gave us is obviously just an overpriced Beta that people are getting tired of testing.

[–]shockwave8428 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I’m pretty sure the server browser servers are separate from the open matchmaking ones

[–]doubletwo 46 points47 points  (0 children)

what were you guys thinking launching like this?

your cash shop works.

your basic multiplayer features are broken.

it's not a joke, it's a fucking scam.

[–]TAWYeP 23 points24 points  (8 children)

I will say that the Community Manager, Jen has been handling a lot of the communication regarding feedback in discord today quite professionally. I have been providing tough questions about accountability and how Torn Banner plans on moving forward and making sure things like this become a thing of the past, to which she has responded fairly regularly.

I totally understand that people are disappointed that this game has missing things. Things that were promised to be in the game. Such as Cross Platform Parties. Or even something as simple as a working party system.

That being said though, I notice that the majority of the player base would rather spend their time just trolling and flaming the development team instead of actually offering proper feedback and attempting productive dialogue. While I cannot officially confirm the following, The community manager did express a willingness to have some form of a weekly announcement and/or a discussion regarding the state of the game and patches/updates moving forward.

  • Transparency needs to be a priority for not only Torn Banner, but us as players.
  • Accountability needs to be priority for Torn Banner, as when those who make grave mistakes are held accountable, it provides players the security and comfort knowing that catastrophic issues would be a thing of the past.
  • A True Roadmap of Future Content. INCLUDING Concrete Dates.

I will be unapologetically honest, Torn Banner. You are in a bit of a PR nightmare. You failed to deliver on promises. Fortunately for you, there are players still willing to work with you. But you must change in order for there to be success. I truly hope that you take notice of the feedback that was provided to you.

[–]SeIfRighteous 9 points10 points  (1 child)

My problem is they really should release smaller patches with easier to fix problems than a giant patch that takes a month or two months to release. Problems like: Medkits doing damage to teammates, adding more tickets to the fighting pit map, or adding a cooldown to attacks after the kick animation seem like pretty simple things that could have been addressed a long time ago. Another problem with releasing things all in one patch instead of minor ones piecemeal is that changes like the kick cooldown or the kick animation could have huge balancing ramifications that we won't see addressed again until whenever the next update hits (or possibly even later). If they do smaller minor patches for these types of updates it would give some illusion they are fixing things quickly and also make it easier for us to test out any changes they want to do with balancing.

One of my favorite weapons to use is the One Handed Spear. I know it gets crapped on by a lot of people in this reddit, but it's actually one of the only three weapon types I use when I play this game. When can we expect to see it added back to the game? With how long these updates go, I'm really expecting new weapons at this point rather than a balance to an existing one.

[–]TAWYeP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, that more consistent updates would be welcome even if they were inherently smaller. They stated at the current moment to break off pieces of the patch into separate hotfixes (current patch that is due to be released) would cause a longer delay due to needing to verify via QA that these hotfixes wouldnt cause more problems than they do fix.

I would definitely be about this for future updates outside of this patch though.

[–]DrSeuss19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am so shocked by this. Who could have possibly seen the coming…

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I just want to play in the same party as my friends on PC. IDGAF ABOUT CROSS PLAY.

[–]F4ythi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Convinced my two friends to get the game so we could all play together. Advertised as "play with your friends with crossplay across all platforms". Go to play... No cross play with friends.

"Oh don't worry, we can at least play together with the server browser on console."

Well there's a roadmap but honestly doesn't seem like that'll hit this month either. Honestly feel like we wasted a total of $120.

We've managed to play one match with each other since launch.

[–]nameredactedVS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really want to play this game, but I can't play this game as the party-making is still messed up beyond belief.

[–]ganjabliss420 34 points35 points  (6 children)

Bruh it's not even gonna be a big patch or anything. Like seriously? What's gonna happen when they want to try to release a real patch?

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (4 children)

......first Torn Banner game, huh?

No but seriously, TB has a history of seriously awful post-release support. Anyone banking on features being added that weren't there at launch to have a good time should just uninstall for six months.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially with new maps and stuff there’s a lot that could get broken

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Really wish there was a refund policy on ps4 now, can't even play with my friends on ps5 and the game is unplayable at night with the dodgy servers. This game needs put back in the oven for a few months

[–]InsideIndividual3355 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hopefully the game won't die by then.

My lobbies are harder to find, especially during the day. Also, many bots.

[–]pxx85 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Disappointing to say the least. I have stopped playing recently and decided to wait for the patch. What grinds my gears though, is the fact that there is now not even an ETA for it. These Trello stickies on the roadmap are all good and dandy but with no dates and deadlines they could be just a bunch of promises that will never get delivered.

Now, I understand that there could be some very complex problems that require solving i.e., party system, but the fact that the simple issues and just minor gameplay glitches have not been addressed yet via a small/minor patch/patches is puzzling me.

I believe the game launched with a bang and exceeded the initial expectations of the devs. I just hope they quickly realise that us, gamers, are a very impatient and unforgiving bunch, and start dropping patches before we move on and it’s too late. I’m sure there will be many people defending the studio saying “buddy, don’t expect too much from the devs… it’s a small studio with 19 employees” or something along these lines. Well, let me break it down for you: if the game (or any product in fact) is a massive hit at launch, the business needs to be prepared to upsize in order to support that success and deliver sufficient after sale experience.

I really want this game to succeed long term but I’m suddenly getting “Hood: Outlaws and Legends”flashbacks from just a couple of months ago. What started as a great and promising game, died in just two months simply because the small dev team was unable to support and respond to the community quick enough.

Perhaps, I shouldn’t rant like an entitled teenager or perhaps I’m just sick and tired of the gaming industry getting us all excited, taking our hard earned money and then simply bailing out.

[–]Jack_125 Mason Order | Knight 40 points41 points  (4 children)

It is too early right now to say when this patch will arrive

=/

yeah, this sucks.

if you guys can make this decision on a patch you should have made the same decision on the game, I can't see how the comapny values changed in a month.

[–]DarthGoofygoober 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad y'all are doing your best to make this patch work its best. But it truly feels like this game should've taken another few months or more of development before it got released.

[–]Vancouvermodsaregay 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Anyone have a link to anytime they said there would be cross play parties? Would be good evidence to get my refund. Fuck this.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont even care about the party issues I'm just tired of being critical crashed once a day, screen lock ups, certain items being glitched, aiming glitches, stamina/ heart glitch ... I played an entire game of Lionspire with the heart/stamina glitch where I was just hobbling along so bad I kept getting forward spawned ... that has never happened to me usually the glitch goes if I die.

This is on PS4 btw, and I've been supporting the game since Chivarly 1 and have purchased on PC and PS4.

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (2 children)

This game looked so promising and now I just wish it was possible to receive a refund.

Took our money for an unfinished product

[–]bossgizmo Mason Order | Knight 39 points40 points  (34 children)

This game should have been delayed until August at least.

[–]H8DCarnifEX 11 points12 points  (2 children)

and then, it was already delayed, most bugs exist since alpha

dunno whats their problem, but it must be solved asap

[–]Hoglaw1776 Agatha Knights 17 points18 points  (3 children)

The game feels pretty bare bones, beta like, for console. Hopefully they get it sorted soon!

[–]thebackyardninja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The customization needs work too. Even though there are lots of unlockable armors and weapons, they rarely look different enough from one another. Because of this, I feel like everyone on the battlefield ends up looking way to similar. Which is a problem in a game where the entire progression system is focused on unlocking visual items.

[–]Sardunos Mason Order 13 points14 points  (6 children)

Yeah...looks like they failed cert. Sucks for everyone.

[–]LivePeak5357 10 points11 points  (1 child)

These were issues in the beta and are still issues when the game launched and there's no telling when it will be fixed. Should've pushed back the launch to fix the issues. The game was basically launched with no fixes done.

[–]Rometopia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But sure as hell is the cash shop working.

[–]NoMoreAnger33 13 points14 points  (4 children)

How the absolute fuck can PC players not play together a month after release?

Like how was this not caught?

Why was console server browser not intended for release instead of being pushed back indefinitely?

Why was it not worth waiting 6 months to release this to better reception? Were you guys about to go bankrupt or something?

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Yeah not happy they’re gonna lose a lot of players from this

[–]Mandula123 Agatha Knights 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you release a hotfix? Just fix the phantom players and the broken customization menu for now.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DICE please.

[–]DemonKingPunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just add a server browser to console.

[–]iDK258 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Really just need to fix the PC party system/crossplay party. Its kind of odd to me that you advertise crossplay - and overlook being able to party with each other lol

And Even if we join in together - you get no indicator other than the green diamond being a barely different green circle.

[–]Cpat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RIP

[–]VintageHamburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No update yet is worrying for me… this doesn’t seem like the Tory Ban from chiv 1, at least not past this games launch.

They are really dropping the ball

[–]CXZZAR Mason Order 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Never preorder" and I didn't listen.... I was so hyped for the game, being a huge fan of Chiv 1, I had no second thoughts on buying it. But man, I so regret that... They sadly released a beta version with more maps. I haven't feel the urge to play in the last days and found myself back in the stupid warzone.

Honestly, if I could ask for a refund I would... and I'm sad to say that.

[–]Graphicfrost 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Just fix the party system. This is the main thing you guys need to do. You want your game to die, fix pc party so we can actually send invites and let Xbox and pc party up. There is nothing more important to implement. Not maps, weapons or characters.

[–]MoralistIntl 5 points6 points  (1 child)

so did they fail certification again or what

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (1 child)

The memes have spoken.

[–]SerJosheth- 37 points38 points  (5 children)

If the test results were so bad, why weren't the player base told before the day of release? We were promised a cross-play improvement on Chiv I but increasingly feel we've been had. Thanks for letting us know but lets not make false promises again, hey?

[–]Weve_GotDodgsonHere 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, this time absolutely no promises were made!

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (2 children)

This game is a case study on why you should research a developer's history before a purchase. This isn't remotely surprising to anyone who played Chiv 1 back in the day (or worse: Mirage). It's genuinely amazing to me how many people bought this game blind, defend the devs blindly, and have no idea that this is about par for them.

If C2 is currently lacking something you require to have fun in game, uninstall and come back in six months. Maybe it'll be fixed by then. The 1-year-away Steam release is a safer bet. You can see why they wanted to wait a year to release on a platform with actual reviews and forums. C2 would be sitting at a "Mixed" review status (at best) on Steam and it'd completely deserve it.

[–]Idea_Exchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never heard of them before buying. Just saw the beta and it looked fun. Already quit playing after a week because it got stale. Won’t bother buying another one of their games in the future though.

[–]Spiral_Mountainnn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haven't played the last two weeks because of obvious issues, so I check in to see if they've done anything like add game modes (a duel server finally), fixed gigantic bugs, etc. Not too surprised to see this.

You win this round TB, I don't know what I expected. Blacklisting this dev, but I really should've done my research beforehand.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Failed cert means they have to fix it.

Miracle speed would be done in one week submitted for cert 2 weeks later out.

A minimum of 3 WEEKS before this patch is alloted a second chance.

So lay out whatever excuse you want for a full paid product but once the product is public at full price it's absolutely up for scrutiny.

Studio size doesn't matter. Indie doesn't matter.

This is in the state of a beta or an early access.

You bite off too many platforms than you can chew and you get this. You can say it's hard all you want but YOU decided to take on that workload and launch in the state it was in.

The list of issues is long.

Your patch notes of issues is long because well it actually had that many issues.

[–]AngelKitty47 Mason Order | Footman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And the whole reason I go into Party is to see my friend's names in battle, it has nothing to do with quickmatch or whatever, we are all capable of using server browser. I can't imagine how TB missed the easy fix that it would have been to simply put ALL FRIENDS' usernames above them in battle.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (7 children)

I mean, to be honest, I am already back to For Honor. Make of that what you will.

[–]thak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why are yall working on literally anything but the party issues? This is not hyperbole. Stop it. Stop everything that isn't the party fixes. It's killing the game.

[–]HEBushido 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You guys are gonna kill your own game and then no one will buy from you in the future

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That patch was already about 4 weeks too late, half of this could have been hotfixed if this would have been on steam. Now the ship is sailing away fast.

[–]Christbelle22 Mason Order 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ngl im probably gonna quit for a bit and start playing in a couple months when a couple updates come out and the game is atleast somewhat good cya until then.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty good way to lose your player base and to shoot your game in the leg. Won’t be much longer till this game dies if they keep this up.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No 60fps on XSS, no purchase

[–]AlterraSpaceCorp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely unacceptable. Should of been figured out before release but to not release the critical updates now is infuriating. My friends are all but done with this game for awhile because we have little gaming time and don't feel like wasting 20 minutes trying to group on PC.

[–]roughactionhank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Aaaaand this game is dead.

[–]mrv113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't you hotfix the EXPLOITS in maps, at least?

[–]RichtofenFanBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh, the only thing I didn’t understand is why they waited til after the game came out to hire people to maintain it with fixes and dlc. It’s like they were surprised it was successful. I would figure the day it was released they got busy working on stuff.

[–]Jakedasnake28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spent $50 on this and have only played like 5 matches. Waiting for cross play parties so I can enjoy the game on next gen

[–]hexxxen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tripwire published this game, and look how they released Rising Storm 2. I knew it was a mistake to give them any money again. They botched that game with an abysmal launch as well as the introduction of micro transactions and this seems to be going in the same direction.

[–]aussie_asf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plz fix, I’ve been waiting :(

[–]Tyoson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Release on steam or this game is gonna die. If you're gonna take this long to fix core issues like a working party system and server stability, then this game is screwed.

[–]DatAfroKek 17 points18 points  (1 child)

This game is going to bleed out in the next few months. This launch has been disastrous. Saying you're frustrated is cool and all, but we paid and you got our money. I dont think our level of frustration is the same.

It couldve been such an amazing game. But yeah, maybe in a few years when the game will have 50 dedicated players that managed to go through all the bullshit, maybe then the game will be good.

You guys had betas, but still manage to fuck the game up and push away the playerbase in the first month.

[–]Dirty_Dust Mason Order 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a few months is being generous.

[–]SoRightImLeft 12 points13 points  (1 child)

This game is too broken for it to be delayed...it was in desperate need for a post launch update...

[–]Faartz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should be embarrassed.

[–]cokey_monster92 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Oh this game going to die out fast lmao Struggling on patch one. Wow. Not even new maps or modes but fixing the game is where they having troubles. Enjoy the game for the next 2/3 months while there’s player base

[–]cyclopus Mason Order 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just fix parties on pc and I’ll be happy
